Age 23 Birthday May 3, 1997 Gender Agender Pronouns They/Them Orientation Panromantic Graysexual Faction Freelancer Class Nurse Rank Caretaker Occupation Clinician Hometown Saffron City, Kanto Current Residence Fuji Town, Arciel | Personality Most would say Sid is a rather cool, mild, easy going person. They can be rather dry and a bit critical, but in general they approach life with a shoulder shrug, a soft sigh, and a small smile. Their social milage tends to depend on other people. They are content to sit and listen to others rant on about things they like but are quick to lose interest in overly negative or hateful individuals. When asked what they like, they tend to be quiet up until they find someone who shares similar interests. Much of the time they just assume people would hate what they like and don't want to bother sharing it except in such cases. Sid approaches most relationships rather straightforwardly. If you're nice to them, they'll generally be nice to you. If you're mean to them, they'll normally be passive aggressive or straight up ignore you. They don't really see the point in holding grudges and find negative relationships to be a bit of a waste of time. They are by no means cold, but they are almost pathologically logical and systematic in their reasonings. Generally, Sid would prefer to be productive than not, and the easiest way to befriend them is to do projects with them (or play video games with them). They're always thinking about things in terms of stages and progression, and it's often had for them to feel in the moment per say. They like building things, designing things, drawing things, sewing things- you know every thing. They're not necessarily as talented or focused as they would like to be, but overall they've dabbled in a lot and have a lot of special interests because of it. The internet life is very important to Sid. They tend to rely a lot of memetic references and puns in place of social nuance, and dealing with normies can be a bit awkward because of that. They still have most of their most important social connections online and would be the type to sit with a computer next to you and text rather than speak. If they share their passions with you aloud, though, it does mean something special. History Suzuki Watanabe was born to a work-a-holic businesswoman and a relentlessly traveling trainer. Her mother was always leaving her at daycare and with neighbors and questionable relatives and the like. Her father was hardly around except during cases when he’d messed up exponentially and had to come home to recoup the loss. As much as she craved her parents’ attention and validation, Suzuki learned very early on that this came with trouble. Her mother had standards that could never be reached. If she wasn’t failing in school, Suzuki was failing in home care or music lessons. Nothing was ever good enough for her. Her father put being a trainer above his wife and child. He only really came home to flaunt his winnings or drink away his losses. He provided for them in many ways but couldn’t be begged to be a father in the social sense of the word. It led to a lot of confusion and heartbreak from time to time. In school, Suzuki made a handful of friends. She was remarkably quiet and grade-focused which made her hard to connect with for others. She didn’t necessarily play well with others and preferred to be on her own. Her escape came in the form of the internet wherein she could disappear entirely into the anonymity of the void. She got into all kinds of things online and met her soon to be best friend there as well. She enjoyed gaming, writing and dabbled in making videos with pirated software. It gave her something she just couldn’t get anywhere else: the chance to both be someone else and be the truest part of herself all at the same time. Suzuki was only ten years old when Gaki was forcibly inserted into her life. Her mother’s degenerate brother went and did something stupid, and now his kid that she had no idea even existed was left to them. At first Suzuki was content to leave the kid to her own devices, but as time went on, Suzuki began to pity this incredibly withdrawn child. She suggested the only thing that made sense in her own life as an outlet: videogames. The girl took to them as much as Suzuki did, and they quickly bonded with her over this. They spent most of their time together gaming and discussing games. As Suzuki grew, she became more interested in fantasy lore and cosplay and took up stray jobs to have some extra cash to spend. She really enjoyed dressing up and designing clothing to wear and found that she enjoyed male outfits as much as female ones and perhaps the androgynous ones even more. It was after she had finished a rather huge project for her original character Sidney Ridley that Suzuki realized the ‘she/her’ label didn’t really fit. Sidney Ridley was already a self-indulgent OC and used they/them and maybe was actually more of a self-insert to begin with, and you know what? Suzuki liked that name and wanted it as their own. They were rather shy about it at first but asking Gaki to call them Sid and use they/them was a lot easier than asking Mom or Dad. She took to it quickly, though, and they adored her for it. Sid spent a lot of high school defining and redefining themselves. They questioned everything including their own interests and nature and took classes that would have otherwise been out of their character up to that point. Their mom could hardly believe the changes but was willing to go along with some of them as they became more outgoing. She wished they hadn’t signed up for theater AND a LARP group, though. One thing Sid never did get over was their addiction to online culture and gaming, however. Through a gaming chat, they met their first boyfriend, and things were great at first. Gaki may have been a little jealous, but babies didn’t know nothing about love! Pokemon had always been in the background of Sid’s life. Partially because their dad was so dedicated to them and not to Sid, they may have had some deep-rooted jealousy towards them. However, when they were seventeen, Sid received their first Pokemon in the form of a Rotom and… quickly found a deep connection. Rotom was the closest thing Sid had ever fully had to a best friend outside of Gaki, and it was just the type of friend to help them through some of their rougher moments. They mellowed out a lot with Rotom’s help and developed a sort of dry sense of humor from Rotom itself. When Sid was eighteen, they started college at a local community school. It gave them the chance to take more classes and figure out what they wanted to really do as well as be closer to home. During this time, they were vaguely aware that Gaki was reconnecting with her father and quietly hoped that it would bring her happiness that they couldn’t necessarily get from their own. It wouldn’t pan out or so it seemed, and they felt vaguely guilty for not having stepped in sooner but… ah well. At nineteen, Sid decided to get top surgery and freed themselves from a pretty hefty burden. During surgery, it was actually discovered that they had a small questionable cist in that tissue as well which would have had to have been looked at later anyways. Well now they didn’t really have to worry about it, did they? Or at least that’s what they had hoped. Over the years, their health had its ups and downs semi-related to this, and they took a lot of classes focused on their health and subsequently the health of Pokemon. At twenty, Sid transferred to a university, and after some conversations with their mom, they more or less took Gaki with them. She still technically went to the same school, had most everything the same, she just happened to live mostly on one side of town during the week as Sid went to school, and they’d both come home on the weekends (or sometimes not). It was more comfortable that way and kept Gaki from being alone in the house as often. However, as Sid buckled down more on their studies and outside-internet hobbies, their boyfriend became increasingly more possessive and upset. They eventually broke up which led to a lot of heartache on Sid’s side. Sid focused more on their studies and graduated shortly after with a basic degree in human and Pokemon nursing double major and enough courses to have a human-Pokemon therapy minor. They were looking around for nursing residencies when Gaki mentioned wanting to start a farm somewhere and pointed out that for some strange reason the Arciel region was giving out free land to those who wanted to try. Sid wasn’t entirely sure they wanted to just up and leave Kanto, but now seemed to be the best time to try something new, actually. They set out to help her as much as possible and then start on their own work medical work thereafter. They’ve started clinical rotations at various Pokemon centers to get a good feel for things. Goals Sid is hoping to finish their nursing residencies and eventually work full time at either a human hospital or a Pokemon center. They also want to make some life-long friends like you get in JRPGs and deep down, they want to get married and start a family. |
Appearance
Height 5'06" / 168 cm Build Solid / Muscular Hair Color White/Gray Eye Color Red | Sid tends to gain muscle quicker than other people, and people tend to comment they have the overall feel of a brick wall rather than a door. They're still rather androgynous and easy to confuse one way or the other which they actually like overall. They don't really have a sense of fashion. A t-shirt and jeans will about do it for them unless the weather is particularly warm or cool. They do wear scrubs when acting as a nurse and the like, but they're not obsessed with the look by any means. Sid has two piercings in each earlobe, and that's about it for jewelry. They will wear rings from time to time but tend to find them overall uncomfortable. Their nails are often nervously bitten to the quick. Aura Sid's aura is a flurry of snowy white, blue, gray and deep purple. It tends to flicker more when they are thinking or imagining things. |
