After travelling with Bounsweet for a whole day on a journey to Cedar Town, Freya decided that she could trust in the abilities of her pokemon. She learned that Bounsweet had even learned to do a new move. So, this meant that Freya would be able to train with her pokemon on Contest Routines. Of course, she didn't have enough pokemon as of yet to do what she wanted to. So, she would have to hold off until she got her third pokemon. For now, training for her performance round would be her primary focus.
So, as she looked at the field before her, she sent out her Clamperl and Bounsweet. The night before, she had stayed up past the time she usually went to bed, trying to coordinate a routine that would be perfect for her goal. After watching what happened during her battle on Route 1, she realized the amount of things she could do with her Bounsweet's rapid spin. Not to mention her new move that she learned. As her pokemon looked around the area, they tilted their heads in confusion. They had no clue where they were, but they were happy to see each other. This bond is what Freya was looking for. Without it, the two of them wouldn't be able to perform in a contest well.
She looked at them and said, "Hey guys, this is the Training Grounds. After our journey together, I decided that it was a good idea for us to train for the thing I promised to y'all. Contests are a lot of fun, and I hope you realize how much fun it is after our training today." With that, the pokemon smiled and cheered with joy as they got ready to do some actual training. Freya then took a deep breath, and smiled, knowing that today was going to be productive.
Right before they got to work, Freya put all her stuff, including the new Ponyta egg she had received on a bench overlooking the area. She wanted to make sure that none of her stuff got damaged while training, because she knew that was a very likable possibility. So, with those things out of the way, she went back to the area where her pokemon were, and said to them, "Okay guys, Let's get started."
With this, she opened up her field guide, and placed Clamperl and Bounsweet in their respected positions. So, as she got into her spot, she said aloud to Clamperl and Bounsweet, "Okay guys, listen to me very carefully. I really want to try to say these moves as little as possible. Even though I'll be saying them during the performance, you still have to know what I'm going to say before I actually do it, alright?" She looked at them, making sure that they completely understood what they needed to do. The two of them nodded, both filled with determination and fun.
So, after getting confirmation from them, Freya said to them, "Bounsweet, I want you to jump on top of Clamperl while using rapid spin. Clamperl, I want you to use Iron Defense." With this, the pokemon went into action. As Clamperl clamped her shell shut, a white aura surrounded her. Soon after, Bounsweet jumped on top of the clamperl while using rapid spin. Just like she suspected would happen, the Bounsweet bounced off of the shell and up into the air. However, the one thing that had her stumped was the Bounsweet losing balance from being at the altitude she was at. It didn't look like she was afraid of heights, but instead, it was more like she couldn't contain her speed while up in the air the way she was. So, as the bounsweet fell down towards the ground, Freya caught her, saying to the little pokemon, "See, I told you I'd always be there for you."
As the Bounsweet laid there in Freya's arms, a tear rolled down her face. Freya knew exactly why she was crying. It was because she thought that she had failed her trainer. However, Freya hugged the Bounsweet up to her body, and said to her, "Hey, don't worry about it. All of us have our weaknesses, but that doesn't mean that we can't fix them. Alright? Even though you weren't able to do it this time doesn't mean you can't next time. Plus, I knew when I started that there would be a lot of training needed to get you guys up to par with what I want." After she finished saying this, Clamperl spoke up as well, comforting her friend. The pokemon's noises were very gentle and comforting to hear, even if Freya couldn't understand what she was saying. After both of them spoke, the Bounsweet shook off her tears, and hopped out of Freya's arms. She looked even more determined then ever to keep training.

So, with her performance plan in mind, she realized that she'd have to train both her pokemon in stamina. This didn't really mean actual stamina training. Instead, it meant more towards the point of them being able to use a move for as long as possible. If they couldn't, then her plan wouldn't work out the way she wanted it to. She brought her pokemon up to the training dummy's that were provided for them, and told them the plan. "So, we're going to do a bit of training on each of you for your stamina on your abilities. Though, this should increase your ability to keep up moves in general. I want both of you to keep using the moves I ask you to, until you feel like you're gonna pass out, okay?" With that, both of them nodded.
"Okay then. Now, Bounsweet, I want you to use Rapid Spin, and Clamperl, I want you to use water gun at that dummy." With this, they both complied. Bounsweet had begin spinning around and around, keeping her velocity constant. Clamperl blasted water out of her mouth, and out towards the dummy, trying to keep up with the amount of water she was letting out. As the two of them consistently did this, Freya realized that they needed to do more. With what she was wanting to do, the both of them would have to do their complete best with this exercise, or else it won't be beneficial. "Okay guys, give out even more than what you're giving me. Bounsweet, I want you to spin even faster, and Clamperl, let out an even bigger stream of water."
Nervousness both appeared on their faces at the order, but they didn't disobey. They wanted this as much as Freya did, and they wanted to show her that. So, as Bounsweet was spinning, she took in a deep gulp of air, and spun even faster than before. As she did, she started to become a bit more wobbly and a lot less stable. However, she kept at it. On the other side of the field, Clamperl had opened up her mouth even wider, letting out an even bigger stream of water. Just like with Bounsweet though, the stream wasn't as stable as the smaller one. Although it didn't look pretty right now, Freya knew that they weren't going to be pushing their limits like this in a contest. This was just to help them get ready to endure the length of a performance.
As the two of them began to falter more and more, Freya raised up her hands towards them and smiled, saying, "Good job guys. You can stop now. I'm sorry that I pushed you guys so hard, but I hope that once we get to the actual performance later, that you guys will feel like the routine is a lot easier. Now, we're going to go back to the bench and take a quick break. Alright?" The pokemon, though out of breath, nodded their heads. Even though they were tired, they still seemed determined to keep on training. So, with them on the bench, Freya took out a few sandwiches, and held onto the egg she had received the other day.
After sitting on the bench for a few minutes, Freya got back up and looked down at her pokemon. She smiled, and said to them, "Well guys, I think it's time to get back to training. It that alright with you guys?" They both nodded in agreeance, as they got up. With this, she looked at her Ponyta egg and patted it on its top, saying to it, "I can't wait till you're able to train with us. It'll be really fun, trust me." She then walked away and onto the training field.
"Okay guys, let's try this one more time. Clamperl use Iron defense, and Bounsweet, use rapid spin." With this, the routine was started over again. As Bounsweet jumped up into the air, she used Rapid spin, causing herself to bounce right off of the Clamperl. Freya watched as Bounsweet spun, hoping that the pokemon wouldn't fall like she did before. After a few seconds, Freya realized that the move had been a success. So, she called out the next part in her plan.
"Clamperl, use watergun on Bounsweet!" Clamperl looked up at the pokemon flying above her, and blasted out a stream of water upwards. As this happened, it hit the bottom of the bounsweet, creating a stream upwards. Not just any sort of stream, one that swirled around to create the visual of a water tornado. Freya shouted out to her pokemon with amazement, saying to them, "Yes! You guys got it, I'm so proud of you!" However, something she didn't think of happened. As the tornado was created, it distracted her from the slow decline in altitude that Bounsweet was having. This meant that the water gun wasn't strong enough to keep Bounsweet levitated at that height. So, as the Bounsweet fell more and more, Freya tried to correct her mistake by yelling out Clamperl, saying to her, "Clamperl, strengthen your water gun! Once Bounsweet gets to a good enough height, you can lower it's power, but make sure to keep an eye out for how high Bounsweet is from you!"
The Clamperl did as she was told, and increased it's strength so that the Bounsweet wouldn't collapse on top of her. After only a few moments, everything was stable again, and her pokemon were still going strong. This meant that she was going to be able to move on to the next part of her performance. So, with this knowledge, she said to her pokemon, "Okay guys, time to move onto the next part! Bounsweet, I want you to use razor leaf while you're spinning. Try to ease up on it though, so that it flows with the water and not out towards the audience!"
The Bounsweet complied as she said this, causing leaves growing a green light to form from the spinning pokemon. As they did, they started to go up into the air, along with the water. As they reached their highest altitude, they reverted themselves back into regular leaves, shining from the water that coated them. After only a few moments, the sky was sparkling with water and leaves. Looking up at it, Freya smiled. She was proud of herself for creating a performance like this. Though, she knew they still had a lot more work before it was perfect. So, she raised her hand up once more, and said to them, "Okay guys, we will run this through one more time, Okay? I'm not expecting it to be absolutely perfect, but I know that you guys can do it. So, give yourselves some breathing time, and we'll get back to this in a moment, got it?" With that, her Pokemon cheered loudly with their self esteems now refreshed.
Like Freya had said before, the pokemon did come back to where they originally were. They were ready to get the training over with. Even though it had been fun and enlightening, it was also very tough to work through. With every single moment, they worked. They had been working themselves up to this moment, where all they needed to do was perfect their performance. There was no more need for any stopping in the middle of it. Now, all they had to do was get through it a few more times.
With that, they did. During the first try, everything had gone absolutely perfect...except for one thing. As Bounsweet was twirling up in the air, the sandwiches that it had eaten from earlier had come out, and not in a great way. This left her and her pokemon to clean up the mess, so that the next person who was there wouldn't have to deal with it themselves. Though, this was actually a good experience for them to bond. Even through all the disgustingness of the issue, they still found a way to joke around and laugh about it. She could sense every single moment with them becoming a good one. She knew that no matter what, they would have a bond that would be unbreakable.
So, as they finished up their laughing, and cleaning, they finally were able to get back to work. On this try, they were able to get through it without any major hiccups. Though, there were obviously smaller ones that needed to be fixed. These were said to the pokemon themselves, "That was absolutely perfect guys! But, I have a few things I wanted to say. Firstly, Clamperl, look like you're having more fun. Even though Bounsweet is the star at the moment, that doesn't mean that people won't notice you as well. I know you can't smile, but look like you're not just a water fountain. You are really amazing, and I just want you to show the audience that you are. Bounsweet, I loved you're performance. You always have a smile on when you perform, even while you're spinning, but make sure that you are completely focused. I noticed that you had begun to wobble a bit somewhere during the performance. So, just be careful of that and you'll be great! Got that?" With that, her pokemon nodded and went for one more run through.
After this one, Freya had completely loved it. She thought that every single moment of it was amazing. Though, she realized some things on her part that she needed to fix. Although Clamperl looked like she was having loads of fun, Freya realized that there needed to be more of a reason for Clamperl to be there. She didn't exactly know what she would do yet, but she knew that she would figure it out after their training session today. Though, she wasn't sure if they would revisit this idea to add on the changes, but she knew that in the end, they would be added. Looking at her pokemon now, she clapped her hands, and said to them with joy in her voice, "I am so proud of you guys. I really hope you know that, because you all did an amazing job here. With every single problem, you worked through it, and with a laugh too. So, thank you guys so much for being with me through this journey. I'm so glad that I found the both of you, and I can't wait to see who we find next. I'm sure they'll be just as great as the two of you." With this, the pokemon cheered in response, agreeing with their trainer.
