Training Grounds Rules
In various locations around Arciel, there are Training Ground areas that are treated as reserves of sorts. They have been altered, however, to make sure there is terrain for all kinds of Pokemon to train in effectively. On some, the far edge is set on the shore of the ocean, but most also includes fresh water sections inland. There are large open fields, forests, rocky uneven areas, as well as artificially upheld snow-covered areas and even some desert. There are also several areas with equipment to practice things like strength, agility, precision, and more. These are places for people to come and train their Pokemon, or even train themselves alongside them!
You may only have one (1) training thread at a time (see: The Cheerleading Rule below). You may only post up to three (3) times per day and must post at least three (3) separate days before you may close the thread for rewards. There is no minimum word count, but please keep in mind that earned rewards come from word count. The exception to this is if you are training your Pokemon to learn or remember a move, detailed below; in that case, there is a minimum word count.
You must include your word count for the post and the thread's total word count so far in a note on EVERY post. This helps mods tremendously! Thank you! (Do not count WC from "cheerleaders" in the total.)
We encourage you to try to have a focus in your training. Please do not feel stuck to one singular objective, however. We just don't want to see random posts with no purpose. Focus suggestions include: evolving a Pokemon or getting used to a new evolution, practicing coordinating combos, working on your teamwork, facing fears, working to learn a new move, or anything else you can think of!
The "Cheerleading" Rule
Occasionally, you may not want to actually train, but might want to help a friend along with their training thread. In that case, you CAN be in more than one "training" thread at a time, so long as you are only receiving training rewards from one. You MUST place in an OOC note at the top of your first post that you are cheerleading and not training so mods know not to count your posts. Thank you!
Cheerleaders get regular thread rewards if the thread hits a full page or more.
Move Remembering
In order for your Pokemon to recall a move learned at a lower level, you must train them. If you unlocked a new move slot, please know that you do not have to train an earlier-level move into an empty slot. You may fill it with whatever move you'd like them to have. To replace a move, however, you must post a training thread detailing training that is at least 250 words, then place a summon in the Mod Call box to verify the training. You may call for verification immediately after training to recall the move, or just add a note at the end of your training thread to have everything done at once.
Level Cap+ Moves
Some moves cannot be learned until a higher level than Pokemon can currently be, but as the level cap is unlikely to increase for some time, the Training Grounds also provide a way for you to access those moves early. If your Pokemon has reached the current level cap, you may teach your Pokemon a higher level move by writing about it working on that move for 200 words per 5 levels (rounded up) over cap that the move is. While you can pad this out a little with things like dialogue, taking a quick break, or brief distractions, the majority of the word count should be focused on practicing, making higher level moves much harder to obtain, but still ultimately obtainable. For instance, with a current level cap of 50, learning a Lv100 move would require 2000 words of pure practice, while a Lv58 move would only require a much easier 400.
Tutor Moves
While there is an item in the shop to simply teach your Pokemon a tutor move immediately, there is also a cheaper item that you can use to train your Pokemon to use a tutor move. Just make note of the item in the OOC notes of a post where you detail your training. It must be at least 250 words. Afterwards, summon a mod via the box to verify the use. Like with remembering moves, this may be done right away or when you turn in your whole thread.
Self Spawning
Another option to help give you something to do in the Training Grounds is to self-spawn wild encounters. You may use the wild spawner to spawn an appropriately leveled Pokemon, and may reroll freely until you find something you like, at that. Then post the Pokemon's info either where it shows up in the post or, if that would mess with your post template, at the bottom of the post. You may only spawn up to 5 Pokemon per thread this way. Pokemon spawned in the Training Grounds cannot be captured. They are also generally more friendly than standard wild Pokemon and happy to spar, but feel free to play them however you desire. You are also free to play self-spawns as owned by a random NPC trainer instead if you like.
Rewards
Remember: each individual Pokemon can only eat 5 Rare Candies per calendar week!
