Gabe looked from the Surf training swimming pool down to the Pokeball in his hand and then back again. All Pokemon need to be surf train registered huh? His lips twitched as he fought down the sneer that wanted to lay there. This seems a little overkill doesn’t it? Looking out along the pool water again, he watched as a lone surf trainer went by on a Wailmer. Yeah, that one made more sense for this sort of thing. The idea behind Surf training was probably to teach trainers and their Pokemon to balance in the water before they went out into open water after all. But this… well this wasn’t one of those cases.
Stepping back, Gabe tossed the Pokeball forward, and a white light started to escape and expand… and expand it did… bigger and bigger and bigger— until it nearly consumed the entire end of the pool in its sheer size. Waillis the Wailord whined upon fully appearing. Why was this water so restricting? What was going on? He couldn’t really turn around like this…. Huh?
Gabe stepped right up on the back of the Wailord and proceeded to walk up to the head of it. It took only a few seconds at most but was still something all the same. Bending down at the tip of the Wailord’s head, Gabe smiled.

“Hey there big guy….” Gabe smirked a little reaching down to pat the Wailord. The latter gave a small low hum in response. “We’ve got to spend a bit of time surfing around in this pool to get a license.” Hm? A license? That was strange, but Waillis didn’t really have anything to compare it to. Humans were kind of strange in general to the once wild Wailord. A low rumbling sound was the response.p_
“Just swim forward if you can. There are deeper areas in the pool…” Kind of. He’d already released the whale into some of the deeper waters just so that he’d fit. The Wailord hummed and started to brush his flippers forward. Luckily, they actually started moving, slow and steady but all the same moving. Gabe eased up again and looked around slowly. The girl riding the Wailmer had stopped and was now watching with wide confused eyes. She wanted to ask why he hadn’t trained this thing as a Wailmer, but as he caught her eye and turned his head completely, she looked away. Whatever, hopefully he wouldn’t take too long with this. It hardly seemed necessary.
This really wasn’t that difficult. There were no undulations caused by snake-like Pokemon. The fins of the Wailord were not shaky or off balanced but worked more like oars or paddles than arms. Waillis had been in the deep waters before, and navigating the shallows was easy by comparison.
…They did bump into the side of the pool more than a couple of times, and neither could really turn on a dime like smaller Pokemon could. I’m never putting him in a river that’s for sure…. Gabe snorted and decided to keep the thought to himself. He had plenty of smaller Pokemon that could handle that just fine. A Wailord was only really good for the sea or a reasonably open body of water as far as anyone was concerned. Huh… I wonder if we could be like a cruise ship or something…. He wasn’t actually sure how well that would go over with that many people on one Pokemon. Eh…. They could try it.
They toted about one way and then the other for a bit before Gabe was sure that enough time had been spent. Walking to one end of the Wailord again, he then returned him and started in to the office. If anyone had any questions, they were going to have to ask then.
