To participate in the Swarm, first post in this thread looking for a Pokemon. A mod will tag you and reply with stats for one Pokemon you find, including color and possibly even evolution depending on the species. Reply again encountering and trying to capture the Pokemon. Once you succeed, do not post in the thread again.
You may only find one per character, no rerolls. This is to prevent spamming to find special Pokemon. If for any IC reason you need to encounter another, use the same stats originally rolled and pretend it's a different individual.
Pokemon in Swarms have a 20% chance of being a special coloration!
Pokemon in swarms have a +20% capture rate with any ball, and will never flee.
This swarm closes at 11:59pm site time on May 31. After that, no new encounters will be spawned. However, anyone who has an ongoing encounter that isn't yet finished has until 11:59pm on the 15th of the following month to finish trying to catch their encounter. After that, the thread will be locked and archived.
Soren still hadn't quite made it out of Birch City, but occasionally he would walk through the city all the way up to the gates, but not much further than that. It was on one such excursion that he found himself first at the gate and then, feeling slightly adventurous, a little bit past it. He still didn't have much in the way of pokemon - hadn't there been a pokemon professor in Kanto that warned about not going out into the tall grass without a pokemon? Well, he had two, so he was doing pretty good on that front, right? - but that hadn't really stopped him this time around.
Zappa was still relegated to its pokeball until Soren could figure out how to keep it from possessing plasma tvs and switching to questionable cartoons at inopportune times. Dizzy, however, was let out, given freedom to fly and explore as she wished. She took this chance to sit on Soren's shoulder and hide in his hair from various passerbys, peeking out occasionally with her large eyes once they had passed by and tweeting at them in warning when they were several feet away and couldn't rightly hear her. But she did her best, and Soren was all right with that.
In Soren's satchel was one of many eggs that he'd seemed to come across lately, a fact he chalked up to breeder luck (even though there probably wasn't such a thing, but that was what made the most sense to him right now). The day had been decent enough so far, the sun shining bright and warm and pleasant - until it suddenly wasn't, and an angry thunderstorm rolled out overhead before he had a chance to react. He was already too far out from the city to do much good, and he resigned himself to a fate of being wet and soaked as he turned back around and started for the city.
There were a few other stragglers running, some on riding pokemon, heading for the quickest means of shelter as Soren steadily made his way back home. He caught snippets of conversation here and there without meaning to, and while a majority of it was complaints about the weather a few phrases stuck out at him. What the heck was a Buneary swarm? Was that some kind of cult?
Perhaps even longer after the Lotad Swarm, Andrew would hear about another swarm - a Buneary swarm. The endearing little rabbit pokemon would probably make for a nice Cute category pokemon, wouldn't it? And Larimar, too, seemed eager to meet someone to fill out the trio!
A rabbit, a mouse, and a seal... A curious combo, but one that Andrew couldn't deny was pretty cute. Perhaps he'd get lucky, looking around out here on Route 1 - Inari was certainly keeping her nose to the air, sniffing around for any signs of something.
Who knows what they'd find, out here...? Inari the Vulpix - Level 6 - 5/5 Energy Deadeye Claude the Clauncher - Level 3 - 5/5 Energy Larimar the Spheal - Level 2 - 5/5 Energy
It would be a rustle in the grass that alerted Inari first - a bark and a gesture of her paw pointing the assembled group's attention in the indicated direction...! And out from that grass would hop a Buneary - a comparatively strong one, at that - who peered about, looking every which way.
When the Buneary's eyes met with Andrew, it - at first - seemed to shy away a little. The young man was quick to make himself more approachable, however; kneeling down to the rabbit pokemon's level, and offering a handful of Pokefood to it. "Hey there, little fella..." He'd murmur, welcomingly. It wasn't any of the strange colors that other people reported seeing, but... That was okay; this gal was just fine the way she was.
After some friendly reassurances and coaxing with food, it wasn't long until the Buneary would be nuzzling into his touch - clearly a gentle soul. Figuring that now was as good a time as any, Andrew would pull out a Luxury Ball - something he had picked up, just in case the buneary he found matched the colors he was hearing about. He'd offer it to the Buneary - hoping that the bunny would take him up on the offer, to join him on this adventure. Catching w a Luxury Ball!
On the outskirts of Birch City and the beginning of Route 1, Koa was on the lookout for something. A recent news bulletin stated that there was a large number of Buneary wandering around the area for some reason and this was an opportunity that Koa couldn't miss. One, he wanted to see the large gathering himself for a look into group mentality in Pokemon. Two, it was just too adorable to pass up!
He was simply walking with Sakuya in his arms as he didn't expect to have to fight any of them. The young Fomantis was sleeping as usual, though it was more a restful sleep than normal. She still got cranky whenever she was woken up rudely, but she seemed more comfortable in the presence of other Pokemon.
Koa sat down and placed Sakuya on the grass next to him. She quickly spread her leafs out and looked very content. All that was left to do now was wait until he spotted one of the Buneary wandering about.
A Buneary wandered out of the bushes. More like stumbled. Poor thing was constantly looking down as not to trip over a rock, or even its own two feet. It didn't even notice Koa until it bumped into him. It flailed and fell backwards as Koa took notice "Oh! Hello..." He slowly extended a hand out to it. It looked up at him and grabbed his hand to pull itself up. "There you go. What brings you over here? Did you lose your friends?" He asked the wayward Pokemon.
It looked over Koa and the Pokemon he was carrying and started jumping up with its arms outstretched "Hm? Do you want to see Sakuya?" He asked as he sat down. The Buneary gently pat the sleepy grass type and looked happy. It was gentle and doting, though also looked rather nervous and alone. "You know if you want to, you can come along. The team could always use another gentle caring type like yourself." He said. The Pokemon looked uncertain and hesitant as Koa pulled out a fancy Pokeball, though they would stay still for the moment. With a little toss, Buneary is pulled into the Pokeball. Now all that was left to do was wait.

Why would a swarm of rabbits arrive on Route 1?
"Because of a swarm of carrots?" Lynn wondered out loud to herself as she paced down the familiar road. Today, she wasn't looking for trainers, but Buneary. Mostly out of curiosity. If she could catch one, she wasn't sure she'd keep it, really. There was a friend she had in Galar however, that absolutely adored Buneary and would love to see one, so she'd thought why not?
Maybe it could be her birthday present, Lynn figured while Wolfram perched on her shoulder. This time the titular bird was curled up as deeply as he could in Lynn's hair to get away from the rain, though his size made it rather difficult.
Lynn was getting drenched anyway, so the bird gave up and disappeared back inside of his PokeBall. Lynn rolled her eyes with a smile. "The one thing it takes him to go inside," she muttered under her breath. Now where are the rabbits? She wondered as she entered a new patch of tall grass.

A Buneary swarm? Two words: Heck. Yeah! Who wouldn't want a fluffy bunny partner? Plus, swarms meant there might be specially colored Pokémon around, and those were always cool. What was less cool was that it was storming when she set out. But Julia had never been one to let a little weather stop her from doing something cool, so she donned a poncho and some rain boots, wielded her umbrella, and headed out to Route 1. For once, she had all of her Pokémon in their Balls to protect them from the elements.
A few minutes later, though, she realized that she might not have much luck finding a Buneary in this weather since they'd probably be taking shelter. She considered turning back and trying again when the weather had cleared, but hey, she was already out here, so why not at least take a look around?

It was in this dark and dreary weather that Lynnette then stumbled over something. Likely a log, she figured, as it was dark and she couldn't see beneath the tall grasses. When the girl went to turn around, however, she saw what she'd tripped over.
"Oh! Sorry!" She yelped as she saw precisely what she'd been looking for. Except that it was just lying there, in the mud, snoozing in the pouring rain. "Um... I think?"
"Buneary!" Lynn yelled out loud for dramatic effect, though it was lost as the wind carried her voice away into the storm. "I challenge you... to a battle!"
Zzzz..
At being ignored, Lynn sagged her shoulders. Would she really try and catch a Pokemon while it was off guard like this? Before she could make up her mind, Wolfram emerged from his PokeBall once again, ready to fight this new challenger.
Then he screeched in despair at being drenched.
Angered, he raced towards the snoozing bun-bun and Pecked her, hard, on the head. She jolted awake and clutched her head in pain, then shot the Rookidee a nasty look. He then Pecked that nasty look right in the face. Multiple times.
Buneary yelped at the onslaught and curled up into a Defence Curl. Lynn simply chuckled and took out her PokeBall; Wolfram wasn't even using one-percent of his power. At least, she hoped so.
He did look pretty mad...
Lynnette tries to catch Buneary with a regular PokeBall!

There was a large tree coming up the path that he could potentially scoot under until the storm blew over - if it even would - and Soren found himself making his way over there now, jogging lightly in the pouring rain and splashing in the slowly growing puddles underfoot. When he got there Dizzy took the opportunity to emerge briefly from the depths of Soren's hair, fluffing herself up and shaking her feathers this way and that in an effort to dry them. The canopy of leaves overhead provided some shelter, but not enough, and as a wayward drop found its way onto Dizzy's head with an audible splat! the bird let out an indignant chirp and immediately dove for Soren's hair again.
Soren took the opportunity to begin wringing out the hoodie he was wearing, futile though it might be since the rain didn't look like it was gonna be letting up anytime soon, and as he watched the water trickle down from the wrung cloth he spotted a strange black and grey shape huddled on a drier patch of earth. It was tiny, and as he looked it up and down the creature looked back at him, meeting his gaze almost defiantly. Soren couldn't help himself grinning at the sight.
"Hey there, girl--" A noise of indignation made him quickly amend his greeting. "-er - boy. What's your name?"
The pokemon let ouf a soft cry that he couldn't quite hear over the thundering rain, but he thought he could hear it well enough. "Barry? Is that it?" What kind of scientists were naming pokemon these days, he wondered? The pokemon gave him an odd look and huddled a bit away, but didn't look like it were about to flee anytime soon, so Soren pushed his luck a little more.
"If you want, you can come with me and we can get out of the rain. Does that sound all right?" The barry gave him a weird look, but it shifted to what he assumed was a dubious expression and then, reluctance. "Or - you don't have to come, if you don't want to. That's fine too. I just thought it would be nice to get out of the rain, maybe get somewhere dry, get a little food."
He fould feel Dizzy's little beak against his cheek, her gigantic eyes peering out at the tiny creature. As the barry looked up, catching sight of her, Dizzy let out a little squeak and disappeared back into her nest in Soren's hair and out of sight. The pokemon seemed a little surprised, but as Soren reached into his bag (searching around the egg taking up a majority of the room) and pulled out the first pokeball he grabbed (a promotional Premier ball, it looked like) the pokemon hesitated only a moment longer before reaching out and tapping the offered ball with a paw, and disappearing in a flash of light.
Attempting capture with a Premier ball + befriending?! Zappa - Lv1 Rotom (5/5 Energy) Dizzy - Lv1 Rookidee (5/5 Energy) Deerling Egg - (2/3 Posts)
He was a little surprised when the ball didn't shake much more than it needed to, and as soon as it stilled and he heard the satisfying click of the pokeball locking in place, Soren stooped to pick it up, Dizzy peeking out again from under the curtain of his hair. Shifting the egg in his bag - which was starting to show telltale signs of rocking, the pokemon within ready to break free - Soren tucked the ball in on top of the hatching egg and looked out towards the path leading back to the city.
The storm didn't show any signs of letting up anytime soon, so Soren held an arm over his head and began to dash out, already thinking of what to name his newly caught barry.
Julia was about to turn back when a nearby bush rustled. She thought for a moment that it might just have been the wind, but then there was a crash of thunder followed by a panicked squeak. Okay, that probably wasn't the wind. She knelt down to peer into the bush, where she saw something brown, tan, and fluffy.
"Hello?" she said over the rain. The Buneary let out an alarmed cry and extended his ears toward Julia, who stumbled back out of their reach and landed on her butt. "Whoa!"
The Buneary peered up at Julia, but as soon as their eyes locked, he squeaked and covered his face with his paws, slowly rolling his ears back up. There was another flash of lightning, and the Buneary flinched and trembled. Julia frowned, a rarity for her. The poor little thing looked so scared... She pulled herself to her knees and slowly reached out so the umbrella covered the Buneary's hiding place.
"It's okay," she said, trying to keep her voice lower this time. The Buneary peeked out from behind his paws; Julia noticed that even though he was on the larger side, he seemed young. "Where's your mom and dad?" Tears began to well in the Buneary's eyes, and Julia immediately regretted asking that. "It's okay! Maybe I can help you find them?" The Buneary covered his eyes again and shook his head.
So he was all alone, then... Julia reached into her pack with her free hand and pulled out a few berries. Food was supposed to help wild Pokémon calm down, after all. "Here," she said, holding her hand out. The Buneary's nose twitched, and he peeked over his paws at Julia's offering. He took one step forward, then another, until he was close enough to grab a berry. Julia smiled at him and moved her hand to keep the umbrella over him, ignoring just how soaked she was getting. The Buneary began to nibble on the berry and grabbed another one when he was done.
There was another lightning strike, and Julia suddenly found herself holding the Buneary when he jumped into her arms, scattering the remaining berries on the ground. Julia automatically started scratching the back of his head as he shook.
"It's okay, it's okay..." she whispered. After a few seconds, an idea struck her: "I know! You should come with me. You can be nice and safe in a Poké Ball, and then you can meet my friends. It'll be like having a whole new family."
The Buneary looked up at her, seeming to consider her offer. Julia gently set him down, still making sure to keep the umbrella over his head, and pulled out a Poké Ball. "What do you say?"

Julia uses a regular Poké Ball + 10% Ranger capture bonus!
Post by Elizabeth Waters on May 11, 2020 11:25:25 GMT
Having stopped in Birch to get a few things from home, and visit briefly with her wayward father, Elizabeth and co had ventured back down Route 1 just for a stroll. The ranger sat cross legged atop Tansy's head as the venusaur lumbered along at a relaxed pace. Damara flew overhead stretching her wings and hooting softly as she drifted lazily above them, avoiding any passing trainers or pokemon.
Raya walked alongside Tansy keeping close to Liz's side as usual. The lucario was on high alert and shooting dark looks toward a tall, lanky trainer that looked strikingly like Liz, if she were male and wearing all black and purple leather. The trainer's eyes however glinted with a mischievous yellow gleam not looking entirely human. He sneered back at Raya and winked causing the jackal to bristle.
Liz sighed and rubbed her forehead trying not to let the pair disrupt their walk. Trailing along behind them Sini was lost in her own world and happily dancing along the trail with Serhan watching intently, the hitmontop a bit taken with the lovely gardevoir. The group didn't have any particular intentions other than possibly stumbling upon the buneary that had supposedly been spotted in the area.

The group spotted a buneary just off the side of the route hanging around by a nearby stream. She was stretched out enjoying the breeze looking completely at ease. Liz smiled to herself and directed Tansy toward her.
"Well hello little one. Is this a good spot for some sunbathing?"
The buneary's ears shot up and she sat up abruptly watching the trainer and her team warily. Liz cautiously raised a hand and gave the bunny a soft smile.
"Hey it's okay, we're just out for a stroll and wanted to say hi. It's quite a lovely day isn't it?"
Liz leaned forward and patted the top of Tansy's head to which the venusaur closed her eyes and gave a soft rumble in appreciation. The buneary stared at her uncertain but slowly relaxed back into the ground. She kept watch as Liz slid off the venusaur and retrieved a small picnic basket.
"Mind if we stop here for lunch? You'd be welcome to join us if you wanted."
The ranger offered as she passed Raya the basket. The lucario began setting things up with some help from Tansy while Sini and Serhan caught up to them. Shyam just crossed his arms and watched with that same sneer as if he believed the whole 'picnic' thing was beneath him. Damara dropped down and perched in Tansy's flower though she avoided eye contact with the unfamiliar buneary.
Buneary sniffed curiously at the meal the lucario had laid out watching now with great interest. Liz gave her another inviting smile before turning and helping pass out the food. It wasn't anything fancy, Liz wasn't much of a cook and simple sandwiches was about all she could muster. They were of course tailored to what her pokemon liked however plus there were always plenty of berries to enjoy.
The young brunette made up a plate for the buneary as well and set it aside so she could access it if she wanted. The buneary still seemed unsure, but her stomach was getting the better of her. As the others sat down to eat, save for Shyam who turned his nose up at the provided lunch, Buneary inched closer and began nibbling on one of the berry pieces arranged on the provided plate.
"Hey not too bad is it? I'm not a very good cook, but I can chop up some berries and know a thing or two about picking a good berry."
The ranger chuckled as she munched her own food. Shyam's yellow gaze followed the buneary, his sneer turning into more of a snarl. Raya however pinned her ears back and shot him a dirty glare. The disguised fox growled at her and huffed. Bunny was more to his liking than what the others were eating, but the others, especially Raya, wouldn't allow the zoroark to try anything with the poor buneary.
Buneary seemed to grow more comfortable with the group and continued eating her body returning to its relaxed state. Liz smiled at her waiting until she was done before making her proposal.
"Say Buneary, if you wanted to eat like that all the time, you'd be welcome to come along with us."
She offered as she retrieved a Luxury Ball and held it out to the bunny, hopeful she would accept.
