Kaisei had barely enough time to enjoy the sights and sounds of "tourist trap" Cedar Town, only long enough to check in his Pokemon at a Pokemon Center and inspect his two eggs again, before he was off and riding through the north entrance and onto Route 2. He had been remotely monitoring this particular Pokemon swarm for some time now. [break][break] Why was he interested in a Lotad? Why not? [break][break] He turned off of the grasslands and toward the beach, convinced they would be there, but he found nothing, only a smattering of Water-types splashing in the waves and a few Krabby and Sandygast along the shore, but no Lotad. Of course, lily pads didn't grow in the ocean, they grew in ponds... which meant that he should be headed for the river instead. Pedaling back inland, he hoped he hadn't wasted too much time... [break][break] Party: Cherubi (Hinata, Lv13, 5/5 Energy), Heracross (Masaki, Lv12, 5/5 Energy), Remoraid (Minami, Lv12, 5/5 Energy), Dottler (Ayumu, Lv11, 5/5 Energy), Togepi Egg (5/10 hatching posts), Bagon Egg (5/15 hatching posts) [break][break] Notes: 146 WC[break]

The battle with Hiro was a long, difficult one, and it made Elliot realize the hard way that Hiro wouldn't show the same mercy with type match ups that Elliot showed him. If it wasn't for that Lanturn, he totally could've had a chance against his Mega Lapras! But Elliot wasn't one to sit down and sulk about a valuable lesson. No, his loss may've gotten him a little down, but he was going to get right back up again and train his water types into a well-oiled machine!
Route 2, home to half of his water-type catches, was as good a place of training as any. Yet it wasn't the only reason why he was here. He had heard back at Bass City that there were some Lotad swarming in the area, and if he was quick enough he might've actually had a chance at catching one of them! A Water type that could strike back against fellow water types would both fit the spirit of the challenge and give Elliot some major help against Hiro; how could he pass up a chance like this? "Okay, guys, keep your eyes peeled," Elliot said. As if to illustrate his point, Echo stood on her tiptoes, peering around the route with a hand shading her eyes. "I'm sure there are plenty of Lotad here just brimming with fighting spirit!"
Lotad were rather cute! Elise liked how happy their evolved form Ludicolo were! She wondered if she couldn’t get one to learn a couple dances and incorporate it into her next contest. She was feeling pretty great after the last one “See anything yet, Sans?” the girl encouraged of her Mr. Mime who just shook his head in response. He was tall but not tall enough to see much more than she did already. “What about you, Sonia?” The Eldegoss was up a little higher and could see a little further and….. shook his entire body back. No, nothing yet, unfortunately. “We’ll find one! I just know it!” she called all the same.
Faolan'd returned to this route after seeing reports about a swarm of Lotad and their evolutions making a ruckus along the roadway, and remembering the duo grass/water type of the species she thought it best to see about adding one to her team. For back up, just in case. She'd already had a number of pokemon she had to get sorted and organized at some point, and also trained up, but more than likely she'd end up seeing to that later - preferably after this little excursion, when she had a little bit of time to herself.
Despite the secondary water-type advantage against both of her recently-evolved and strongest pokemon, Faolan had still brought along both Reddy and Fembra, both of whom were tucked away in their pokeballs until it was time to battle. If the reports were true, she didn't want to risk the chance of them being attacked prematurely, after all, even if the Lotad and their line wasn't entirely angry or prone to attack trainers recklessly. Knowing Reddy, though, the giant bird would probably run off and try to eat one, considering his penchant for putting things in his mouth, and she doubted a Water Gun to the face would be well-received.

Did Riley need another Grass-type? Not with Hunter by her side! Did she need another Water-type? Nah, between Giselle and Arial, she was already having trouble striking a good balance of which to use which one, even if Arial was objectively more useful in a lot of ways. So why was she here? Because the swarming Grass/Water type in particular was known for a love of music and dancing, and that never hurt to have on a coordinator's team.
If she could find a uniquely colored one as sometimes cropped up in these swarms, all the better. But at the very least, a Ludicolo would likely prove an interesting Pokemon to work with and could perhaps help teach her other Pokemon to feel the rhythm.

Elliot was so caught up in looking for a Lombre that he didn't even think to check his surroundings. One second he was looking over his shoulder, telling HYAH! to check inside the trees. The next, he was turning back just in time to see a Lombre right in front of him. She let out a startled call. He jumped back in shock . . . and promptly dropped his walking stick. The two, and Echo on his shoulder, watched as his walking stick went tumbling into a nearby river. It hit the waters with a splash, and a breeze cut across the silent route.
The Lombre looked around, then let out a startled cry. She ran towards the river, only to stop, turn back to Elliot, and adjust his posture so he wasn't standing so hard on his bad leg. She sighed in relief, turned to the river, then dashed back to adjust Elliot's posture once more. Now she was setting him so he wouldn't be leaning too far to one side. Was she overcompensating for her earlier mistake? She kept shifting Elliot between these two positions, the boy laughing a little from how finicky her behavior was. "It's okay, it's okay," he said between laughs, shooting her a warm smile. "I can stand. It's all good. Though . . . if you do want to help, I think I could use a hand finding my walking stick."
The walking stick! How could she forget? The Lombre let out a stressed cry, then dove right into the river. Only her lily pad hat showed that she was still the river. It frantically darted about, her fervor in hunting the stick down getting Elliot giggling up a storm. At this pace, it was only a few moments before she had gotten the stick, holding it skyward as she breached from the river. She ran over to hand it to Elliot, then bowed apologetically. "H-hey, really, it's all good!" Elliot said. "But I appreciate all the help. If that got lost, it could've been really bad." He gave the Lombre a brief evaluation. She didn't seem like she wanted to fight. And with the stick secured, she was back to happily looking across the treeline. Were they done here? It seemed like they were done here.
Or at least, that's what Elliot thought as he turned to walk off the route. After a few minutes Echo tugged at his hood, the boy turning around to see what was up. The Lombre was still following them! Elliot smiled, somewhat bashfully, before turning and taking a Pokeball from his pocket. "Do . . . do you want to come with us?" he asked, somewhat confused by her intent even if he was charmed by her spirit.
It would not be sight with which Elise would register the Pokemon of interest but rather an Uproar that started of its own accord. Elise’s head shot around, her eyes searching it out. Sans immediately went on the defensive coating himself and his party in Safeguard, Light Screen, and Reflect just for good measure. Sonia gave a cry calling forth whoever was making such racket!
What hopped forth with the sound (doing a bit of damage all the same) was a smooth short Lombre who danced about. “Ohh!” Elise squeaked as she noted the strange coloring of the Lombre! What a strange creature! She wouldn’t have even recognized it had it from a distance! And it was grooving to its own sound! She had to have it! “Hi there! Are you making music?!” Elise asked. The Lombre immediately threw both arms out and went into a Teeter Dance that thankfully did not cause any actual problems with Sans having prepared for it not a second too soon! Instead, Elise giggled and grasped the Lombre’s hand! “Let’s dance then!” And with that she spun him!
The Lombre immediately tensed and pulled away backing up and looking at her scornfully. Sans tensed. Sonia tensed. If this became a battle, they had to be ready fro anything! Elise grasped both hands in front of herself and stared at him staring back at her. "O-oh? Sorry! I should have asked!" she said instead. The Lombre huffed a little and nodded. Yes, yes she should have! A soft apologetic smile pulled across Elise's features right after. "You just looked like you were having so much fun... may I have this dance, Lombre?!" she asked instead. Lombre hesitated looking at the girl's now outstretched hand up to her face. He then looked sideways to her Pokemon and seemed to be taking them into consideration as well. He... he supposed she was just being overly friendly. One dance wouldn't hurt... Slowly he reached out and took her hand again, and this time they spun!
And it was fun! Elise giggled as she twirled around with the Lombre who slowly eased up with the whole idea as it went on. "You have such an amazing talent!" Elise encouraged. "I'm an idol and a coodinator, I'd love to have you on my team! Would... would you consider it?" she asked slowly. grabbing out a premier ball and holding it forward.
"Go, Masaki!" [break][break] The Heracross immediately started flirting with the Lombre. *Of course,* Kaisei thought, *it had to be a female.* [break][break] Imagine his surprise when the female started flirting back, swaying her hips and coquettishly blinking her eyes. She slowly lifted her arms, and began a graceful dance as Mist began to swirl around her figure, partially obscuring her as she danced forward and backward. Kaisei was unimpressed with this display, and called for an Aerial Ace, which Masaki gladly responded to... by flying up into the air and swishing his horn around in fancy-looking motions. Kaisei slapped a hand against his forehead. When was this Pokemon going to take *anything* seriously? [break][break] The Lombre then began wobbling from side to side, as if she was off balance. A Teeter Dance! "Be careful, Masaki!" the trainer shouted as the Heracross tried to follow the Lombre's movements with his eyes, but became dizzy and fell out of the sky in the process. The Lombre walked up and pressed a smooch to Masaki's forehead, Draining a bit of his energy away as he staggered to his feet. [break][break] "Hit it back with an Arm Thrust!" This got Masaki to snap to attention, as he started pumping his arms, but instead of hitting the Lombre, Kaisei realized that he was just flexing for her, but in a manner that somewhat resembled the human dance of the Robot. The Lombre smiled and clapped her hands together as Masaki continued to show off. [break][break] *Well, here goes nothing.* Kaisei threw a Pokeball at the Pokemon, hoping she would just decide to stay inside.
