Sometimes, every so often, Makoto would go on a walk just outside of town; not too far, given Kuro's nervous nature, but certainly a way's out. It was a great way for Kuro to get a little exercise on his own, and it was a great way for Makoto to get some fresh air away from town. However, as they walked Makoto would also keep their eyes on the sky. Apparently, some Skarmory had been wandering around here; and they were being careful, to make sure that no wild Skarmory wandered too close to them. Kuro, though he was an eager fella when put to a task, was unused to battle...
... Though, even this close to town, it wouldn't take long for something to appear; the sound of wings cutting through air, as a shadow passed overhead. Kuro, immediately, would go into hiding - turning into a bush, it seemed! Though his illusion was an impressive one for a little kit such as himself... The fact that his tail was sticking out, quite visible, made it slightly less impressive. Both would turn their eyes to the sky nonetheless, however; ready to see just who was here to greet them. A loud and keening cry would be heard, as the Skarmory swooped down; her metallic feathers shining in the light. Makoto would be forced to back up a little, blinking somewhat owlishly, as the metallic bird landed; sharp eyes appraising them, looking them up and down. Was this a trainer, the bird wondered? She didn't see any pokemon with them, except for... A bush, with a tail poking out of it? The bush wasn't even well placed; sitting in the middle of the road, of all places! Striding forward, the Skarmory would eyeball the bush suspiciously, before bending down to grab the tail in her beak!
Kuro, in response, yelped; the illusion near-immediately breaking, as he yanked his tail out of the Skarmory's grasp! He'd shy away immediately - hiding behind Makoto's legs - but... Makoto would still kneel down to pat Kuro on the head. "There there, Kuro; it's okay, dear." They'd reassure him - mentioning "I think that the Skarmory just wants a friendly fight; is that right?" Glancing up to the Skarmory with a questioning gaze, the bird would affirm to this with a confident screech, wings opening wide. Yes! A fight!
Kuro, for the most part, was unsure; but... If this wild Skarmory only wanted a friendly fight, and nothing else, would it really hurt to give it a try...? Slowly, but surely, Kuro would come out from behind Makoto - the trainer in question gently scritching him behind the ear. "There there, darling." They'd comfort once more; adding "Rely on your Pursuit for now, okay? That's going to be your best bet, against a steel type like a Skarmory." Yipping in affirmative, Kuro would shake out his fur in a nervous tic, before taking up a stance; ready to fight.
And a close fight it was; though Pursuit hit harder than Peck, and it meant that Skarmory was unable to withdraw from the fight very easily, Peck still hurt as well as both pokemon traded moves. They were neck in neck, and Makoto couldn't help but wince a little; perhaps this fight was a bit too close, even if it was a friendly fight? They didn't want Kuro to lose any confidence in fighting, with a rough fight...
... But before long, as the Skarmory began to tire, Makoto would make a decision to act; pulling out a Pokeball, and giving it a throw. Here goes...! Catching Skarmory w a Pokeball
Koray had been more than a little distracted as of late. But hearing about the swarm of Skarmory along with a reward for one made it feasibly worth the trip. Eleanor was with him this time, sitting on his shoulder with Rowan floating nearby as always. He wouldn't stay behind even if Koray thought it was best to keep the Phantump out of the fighting this time. "Keep an eye out, there has to be one around here somewhere..." How hard could it be to find a large metal bird, anyway? Surely it wouldn't take all that long between the three of them.
Toshi the Houndour had been having a good day. [break][break] He was all snug in his Pokeball, no annoying sights and sounds to bother him, comfy as he could be, until all of a sudden he wasn't. The hot sun glared in his face. And there was a rather large bird, swooping down in his face. Toshi only wanted it to go away. So he belched some Smog out of his mouth, hoping that it would take the hint. [break][break] Alas, it was not to be. The bird's Keen Eye ignored the Smog entirely, and it blew through the cloud of black smoke to Peck Toshi on the nose! The Houndour yelped, letting out a pained Howl, and staggered back. Up close the bird was very large... and ugh, it was oddly colored too, in just that sort of emo-edgy way... who did it think it was? Trying to copy him or something? [break][break] "Toshi, use Ember attack!" Ah, yes, that was a thing, he supposed. He gathered up some flame in his mouth and spat it at the Skarmory. [break][break] The bird chattered its beak together in anger, and--oh, shit, he had definitely done the opposite of making it go away now. It ran up to Toshi with surprising speed and swiped down with a Metal Claw. He ducked down at the last minute and the bird's talon bounced off of his skull, letting him roll away and shoot out another Ember attack. This one caught the bird in the wing, and it shrieked, attempting to batter the flames away. [break][break] Toshi ran up to the bird and attempted to bite it, and almost immediately realized it was a bad idea as his teeth clamped down on feathers made of solid steel. The bird swiped with its wing and sent him rolling again. One more "What are you doing? Ember it again!" and he realized he had no better options than to comply, hoping that the last Ember shot would do it, except that by the time he did the bird had fanned its wings out in front of itself, creating a shield to Endure the attack... why couldn't this just be over already? How much longer would he have to suffer this torment, being bullied by such a large bird, when he was only a little puppy himself...? [break][break] Thankfully for Toshi, this was about the moment that Kaisei's patience had run out, and he lobbed a Mammoth Ball at the Skarmory. [break][break] Party: Houndour (Toshi, Lv9>Lv10, 5/5 Energy), Pancham (Berserker, Lv11, 5/5 Energy), Remoraid (Minami, Lv11, 5/5 Energy), Bounsweet Egg (3/3 hatching posts), Bounsweet Egg (3/3 hatching posts), Karrablast Egg (3/3 hatching posts) [break][break] Notes: 410 WC[break] Attempting capture with a Mammoth Ball.
Seeing the Skarmory, Koray opted not to waste much more time out here. It was already very late and from the looks of it might start to rain. That was the last thing he needed on top of everything else. Hopefully he would be able to find it before it got too late to search. Eleanor's light was something, certainly but being stuck out in the dark was never a good idea. Koray had been so busy looking up in the trees for Skarmory that he almost missed one that was laying at his feet. Good thing Rowan stopped him from tripping over the thing. Trying not to make a sound, Koray threw a Nest Ball at the sleeping Skarmory and hoped for the best.
