The last week and a half had been crazy. For Gaki standards. She'd spent way too long tending to her crops, especially with the welcoming of the enw season, and at this point she was sureher sweat could have watered the crops- but it was fine! It was fine- until Gaki ahd realized Sid's birthday was three days away. Then nothing was fine. Nothing was fine at all! She wasn't the type to shop online for cute, custom things Sid would love, she wouldn't even know where to start, nor was she the type to document and strategise a birthday, her only experiences with birthdays being the ones that involved Sid in some way.
So, with the three days she had remaining Gaki had taken to the shopping malls. And pac-man, did she have a haul. She'd stayed up late, all night, to multitask taking part in the harvest raid on on of her top mmo's while also sticky-taping together some... sketchy looking presents- if she hadn't set an alarm she probably would have forgotten to wake up and all her preperation would have been for nothing! But still! Blanket wraped around her shoulders, Gaki was ready for the affection point gain that today would be!
Sid was going to be so surprised their defece stat would lower! Hah! She'd found herself at five in the morning, working off two hours of sleep taping very obvious printer paper print outs of some of Sid's most 'adorable' waifus around the house, some on the fridge, one on the screen on the TV...
Gaki... had negative points in her decoration skills- but it was fine! There were two large boxes sitting on the couch, taped so badly the cardboard was still visible and some bits of tape were still somehow sticky side up. On the coffe table was a plastic bag that had also been wrapped in a lime green wrapping paper at some point, and then unwrapped as if Gaki had realized half way through that wrapping up a plastic bag was an awful idea, and small bits of the paper still stuck to the plastic.
But! That was not all! Sid loved rice. Gaki had a solid kilo of rice that she'd purchased yesterday sitting innocently on the counter, put up there with the help of one of her pokemon, of course! Haha! Sid would be in awe of her strength, their present would be also the knowledge of her rank up, and she'd impress them with her fluffy rice making skills!
Her eyes fell back to the plastic bag on the coffe table, pursing her lips together. It had goodies inside, and was obviously transparent... what... could she do?! Uh- uhm.... She grabbed out her phone to glance to the time, befoe glancing back at the plastic bag. She'd have to wake them up soon for the unveiling, but... uh- oh! Suddenly, Gaki had an idea. She moved to the cupboard and grabbed out a black garbage bag, moving to wrap it around the plastic bag for extra security and then... snatching the crudge bow from the top of one of the other boxes to put on top of it.
Yes. Perfect! Nothing wrong or suspicious about the bag now! She had the waifu's up, she had the rice up, the bags prepped and the presents prepped... Balloons! Balloons! She- she forgot all about them! They were an essential birthday thing, at least, that's what the online party planning for dummies article said! Gaki rushed to the cupboard, she'd bought them... uh... uhhh... here! She rushed to the couch, shoving aside one of the boxes and moved to quickly puff up around ten or so gold and white balloons before... realizing...
They... didn't float on their own like in the cute party pictured- and then it hit her all at once. Helium. She was supposed to get helium balloons! Her face went white, oh. Oh no. Sid was going to be so dissapointed?! Uh- uhm... uh... Gaki was at a loss of what to do, so, with a loud sigh she moved to kick one of the balloons further into the loungeroom. Damn it! She had higher intelligence skill then this!
She.. she could make it better! Uh... eyes flicked around the room before she found her small pile of printed anime waifus that she hadn't bothered putting up. A hand moved to grab one of them, the face of Olivier Mira Armstrong staring back at her. Right. Okay. A string was athrough the top of the paper and Gaki managed to grab out some duct-tape. Okay! Okay! She just needed floaty things, she could make her float.
Gaki moved then to pull out a chair, standing in the middle of the lounge and without much thought stood up on it, taping the top of the string to the roof, where the printer paper photo of Olivier watched over all. She needed more, though! More cute waifu's to make up for her lack of floaty balloons!
Right as she started towards the pile again her alarm went off once more- oh- oh no. 9. 9am. The time for planning was over. She couldn't do anymore! Wide eyes flicked over to the lonely hanging picture of Olivier from the wall and Gaki let out a slow, soft puff of air... Right... okay- it... it was better then nothing! She quickly tucked all evidence of the other printed waifu's into her bedroom and any other planning materials before she stomped up the stairs, down the hall, and knocked three times on Sid's door. Adjusting the blanket around her shoulder and suddenly realizing how she should how dressed up she felt a wave of embarresment flood through her.
...This... wouldn't lower affection points of her cousin, right? They deserved the ebst birthday ever, and dressing up wouldn't change that, right? Gulping down her hesitance she shook her head. Nope! Nope, Gaki had obviously done her best. Sid would totally love it! With that in mind, the girl let out a loud, "Siiiiiiid! It's waking hour!"
Sid had been only vaguely aware that something was ‘up’ with Gaki the past few days, but the kind of aware that was more ‘oh that’s strange’ than ‘I should ask about it’. They erroneously assumed in part that she had come across another MMO that she was hiding from them until she was comfortable enough to admit to it. On another year, they would have recognized the signs of a birthday ‘party’ being planned, but this base assumption on top of the fact they had been working long hours at the Pokemon Center sort of threw them off their A game.
So, when Gaki knocked on the door to their room, Sid groaned and sat up in bed not even checking their phone immediately for the stream of ‘happy birthday’s and ‘well wishes’ on all of their social media accounts right then. “Gaki??” Waking… hour…. Their eyes flashed to their Hatsume Miku alarm clock, and immediately they fell back again onto the bed with a groan. Why was she up before them? Had she slept at all? “What boss battle are we preparing for?” they called before slowly rolling out of bed and standing up off of it. If they stayed in bed too long, they wouldn’t get up at all.
Fumbling just a little to their dresser, they grabbed a brush and at least tried to put their hair back together. A couple brushes. And then they walked to the door and opened it to look at Gaki with slow, confused blinks. She would note they were still wearing the same Life Note t-shirt they had been wearing the night before and the same expandable sweat pants. “You who have summoned me, are we to make a pact?” thy asked sleepily.
Sid's drowsy voice calling out from their room had the girl rocking nervously on her feet, the real mission would begin as soon as they made their way out of the room! But for now, all the girl could do was wait patently. Stepping back from the room and instead leaning against the wall of the hall she crossed her arms. ...What... boss battle... A blink. Another Blink.
Sid didn't know. Sid had forgotten.
A cheshire grin slowly found itself on her face, the grin of a girl who knew she was going to triple S complete a raid before the map had even been revealled because nobody else besides her was in the top 200 in the match, the face of victory being secured. Not that she didn't have the element of surprise before, but now she had like, the total, full element of surprise! And there was nothing better in a battle then that! "The weeds have taken over! We're going to PVP them before the rival farmers get the chance to beat us to their own crops!"
She found her excuse came... way too easily. But still, she stood her ground! It was a weak excuse, and for all she knew Sid would find it kinda bad and decide they wanted to sleep or game instead, so quickly she added on, "And there's raids later today so I just needed them done now or whatever..." she could very faintly hear the sound of a ruckus from Sid's room but held her ground, knowing better then to go in when they could very well be changing or something.
Thankfully, they came out soon enough, and Gaki huffed a little. "Took you long enough." Eyes moved to to their face, searching for any hint of recognition about today... but seeing none she couldn't have been any less excited. Looks like they hadn't changed- and it was good they were like super comfy! You'd have to be comfy to face all Gaki had to throw at them!
"We can make a pact to defeat the dastardly weeds, or something." She began, taking a few steps back before turning on her heel, barely able to contain the excited energy about to burst, aaaaaah!!! Sid was gonna me like Mario completing a level or something when they saw downstairs! She knew it- oh- wait- they'd know she was lying in like... five seconds...
There was a pause, Gaki stopping on the first step and turning back around to face Sid, dragging her blanket off her shoulders. "...Actually..." She offered it to them then, tiltined her head and averting her gaze. "Put this over your head. You can't look at the weeds or they'll.... uh... get the upper hand- they're like a medusa-sub species! I'll find a teatowel downstairs to protect myself!"

The weeds… the weeds had taken over. Oh, ok. Sid reached up and scratched their head/fumbled with their hair a little more. Maybe they were finally about to start planting for the season or something, and they had forgotten up until that moment. Raids later today… Oh shoot, right. Yeah that sounded good too.
Sid’s lips quirked as Gaki grinned at them. She was so energetic today. They supposed that was fine, though. She was cuter when she was passionate. “Understood, the pact is forged,” they answered. They started to follow her down the way only to be stopped again. “Hm?” Medusa-like sub species was it? “Oh dear, thank you for protecting my eyes, fair maiden,” they smiled taking the blanket and draping it accordingly. “Will you lead me down the path then to safety?” They could probably make it there with sense of house alone, but still.
Sid very easily slipped into character, believing her in little to no time with no effort on Gaki's part. Had her deception level somehow grown higher in the last few days too?! Gaki had to fight down an ever bigger grin at the thought- she had high defense, damn it! Showing emotion was the first sign of weakness! And the first sign of something not being right! "It's of no worries to me." Was said, as Sid moved to hoist the blanket over their head, and she quickly moved to ensure the blanket was secure before humming to herself- all tight, and secure- now Sid would have the true element of surprise!
...Though... she hadn't thought much about the stairs... Eyes moved to glance back at them as she tried to think out some form of strategy... it would be like leading a blind team through a dark level with the highest visibility, communication and going slow! Or... something. "I'd be my honour to aid the mighty weed hero down the path the green menaces!"
She waited a moment before reaching out to grab Sid's wrist, tugging experimentally before nodding- no- her hands weren't sweaty! You're just imagining things. The mighty Gaki never gets nervous, especially with such a planned out surprise party like Sid's is. She moved then, Sid's wrist held in one hand while she stared down the stairs, repeating, "Steppp- nononon thats the edge- step now!" and maybe accidentally calling Sid and idiot once for Gaki managing to trip on one of the few steps herself- but the challenge was quickly finished!
"Now it comes to the harder part! I'll lead you through the open hall, but we have to keep slow." Like it was a mission, she began moving, gently guiding Sid a little away from the stairs and around the kitchen twice to make it seem like she was taking them somewhere she wasn't before finally coming to a stop!
Okay Gaki, game face on. Use your best in-character dialogue possible for this fake mission! "Oh! Uh, It seems the medusa weeds have no effect on me- maybe... uh...it's safe to take off your bilndfold?" Gaki let go of Sid's wrist then, letting her hands ball into fists and rest by her hips before she standed out to stare at the... mess that she had made...
...Oh she couldn't bare look at them when they saw everything, she'd die on the spot! They wouldn't hate it, they'd probably pull their face of surprise and stupidly grin and say something stupid and stupid stupid- ugh. Gaki didn't have high enough stats to withstand today- but she secretly hoped they would like what they saw...
...And... it just... occured to her... she hadn't even started cooking the rice yet she's just left the huge 1 kilo bag on the counter she was going to actually lose all her HP.

“Onwards then!” Sid called brightly now under the blanket. They waited until she’d successfully grasped their wrist, and then with that Sid followed after Gaki. Step, ste— Edge. Step now. Ok, they could kind of feel where the steps were now. They weren’t too fussed by it all but vaguely wondered if they couldn’t take off the blanket just to see where they were going here.
“Hall but slow, understood!” they spoke with assurance. They …. Could kind of feel just spatially that something odd was happening, butf or all they were and all they weren’t, Sid was still off their A game. Thus when they finally stopped, they swayed for a moment or so. Hm, blindfold off. Slowly, they pulled it up off their head to stare at…..
Sid’s chest tightened and relaxed all at once. Their eyes slowly trailed over the very obvious printer paper print outs strew out on the fridge and on the TV screen. They shifted then to the boxes sitting on the couch… and then immediately got distracted by the numerous colorful balloons resting around…. They almost missed Olivier Armstrong there but immediately turned a soft pink color on noticing her. All of this… all of this was for them. Ah…. level up day…. they realized distantly. How had they managed to forget.
Slowly their eyes flickered back to Gaki again, and Sid stared for a moment. Gaki…. Gaki was so good and tried so hard and…. Ho-oh they would be so lonely without her. A big goofy grin flashed across their features. “AHHHHHH GAKI-CHANNNNNN YOU GOT ME GOOOD!!!!” they laughed after a moment reaching to hug her tightly to their chest despite whatever flailing she might have done. They felt so warm and fuzzy. It was great.

Gaki was very busy staring holes into the large bag of rice sitting on the counter, not wanting to glance over at Sid because she had high defense today! She didn't want that all to come crashing down within moments, now did she?! She was never good with this sorta thing, surprising people, attempting to make them happy, celebrating stuff, the only person she cared about was her cousin- and damn it if she couldn't demonstrate that well enough, the balloons weren't even flying!
Gaki had given up staring at the rice and went to move her attention to Sid, resolve broken, only for them to almost immediatly pull her into a tight hug. There was a loud sputter that left her and she attempted very quickly to wiggle free, of course to no avail. "S-Siiiiid- I don't have armour onnnn!" She barely managed to wheeze out. At this point her face was red out of embarresment, but... but Gaki was glad! They liked it, of course they did!
It took a few tries but once Sid's hold loosened slightly she ducked and slipped out of their arms, averting her gaze once more and crossing her arms over her chest. "I-It's not like I went to much effort or anything, baka." Her gaze once more moved to the rice, before it went to the presents- uhh- uhmmm... uh....

As Gaki tried to pull away, Sid hugged all the harder. "Gakiiiiiiiiii!” they responded back before slowly letting go again. Grinning even more than before, they clapped their hands together and bounced on the balls of their feet. They saw those presents! And those balloons and those decorations! (But mostly the presents). AAAAAA!!!!!
Her insistence that it wasn’t too much effort (followed by such a chuunibyo line, Arceus) only had them grinning a toothy cat like grin. “None the less, thank you, Gaki…” they answered. As Gaki glanced at the rice, Sid did as well, and something finally flicked in their head. That thing, the bag, was it… was it for them? For this? Had Gaki gone so far as to even try and cook or even consider cooking?
She was so cute, damn. Sid couldn’t help but grin. “Breakfast sounds great,” they answered. “Are we having cheesy rice?!” Because it was simple to make and tasted just as great, of course. "Or even.... rice cakes?" How long had it been since they had had one of those? Oh gosh, they wanted them so badly now, actually... There was plenty of rice there to at least attempt to make a few!
Nnnnnnnggh. Sid's stupid grin was infectious., and she was actively fighting to stop herself from grinning. She had to focus to make their birthday as good as she could! If she let herself be affected by the joy effect, then surely that would have negative impacts on her other skills and she might say something stupid! Gaki would not be able to live with herself, she'd loose a life! So, instead, as Sid spoke of breakfast she quickly made ehr way over to the rice, bringing her arms around it and- urgh... heavy...
But still! Gaki was determined! It was carried and plopped onto the center of the bench, and she began ooking for something to open it as Sid spoke... scissors? Scissors? No. She opened the cutlery draw and brought out a alrge knife, attempted to ahck away at the top of the rice bag... which... was both dangerous and difficult...
She stopped however as Sid spoke of what to make- cheesy rice??? rice cakes??? Gaki.... Gaki only knew how to put rice in the cooker and then add veggies that she microwaved... how... maybe... if she... steamed them... and... used melted cheese to stick them together into little flat ball things... she could... "Cheesy rice cakes?" Gaki asked, turning around to address Sid.
"I... uh... Can attempt to make those- because there is nothing Gaki cannot do with such high stats!" Tough words for a girl who is awful at cooking- but still! She insisted! Really! "Go- uh- go sit down- I will get started on your stick cheesey rice cakes! As it is your level up day, you will not be required to do any difficult work!"
Post by Sidney Ridley on May 23, 2020 15:45:36 GMT
Watching Gaki move, Sid had to cover their stupid grin with their hand. She was working so hard, wasn’t she? The sight of the large knife immediately wiped the smile off their face. “G—“ She was technically an adult, not a child, and probably didn’t need help in cutting. The key word here being probably. Biting their lower lip as they watched her move, Sid managed not to say much of anything back until she had stopped to look back at them.
Oh. Rice cakes was probably beyond Gaki’s skill level, and Sid knew that— They were about to say something only to be cut off again by her assurance. A small smile quirked at the corners of their mouth at that. They… they supposed she had worked hard on this already. It may be a dismissal of her refforts to step in now. “Gambatte, neh,” they answered instead with a small nod. Walking over to the kitchen table, they sat down and watched her carefully. She’d be ok, right? Right.
Gaki would totally be okay. She'd managed to get the huge rice bag open, after all! Green eyes glistened in momentary self-celebration before glancing over to Sid. They were watching... ahhh.... ahhhhhHHHh she couldn't mess up this mission! Okay- so... she moved about the kitchen, getting out some cute measuring cups with a pac-man on it and shovelling out a cup of rice, moving over to dump it, along with some water into the cooker and turning it on. Right. Rice done. That's the easy bit...
...Next... the... cheesey bit? Gaki made her way over to the fridge, pulling it open and literally grabbing whatever cheese she could get her hands on, placing it down on the counter and closing it after. Right- she knew there were like... reciples that used four cheeses- like, there was a mac and cheese recipe thing? Gaki moved to grab out a small microwave proof bowl and a chopping block that may have features some permanant marker doodle of an anime waifu.
This was fine. Gaki began just... slicing right into the cheese blocks, determined, brow furrowed and tongue sticking out slightly in her concentratin- why was some of the cheese squishy? Was it supposed to be squishy?? Gaki... was unsure! But she couldn't ask Sid, because this was a day where she did everything for Sid, and asking for help would show she wasn't fully prepared, which she totally was! ...If only she had actually used a cheese grater instead of a knife...
But it was too late for that! As the rice kept cooking she moved the bowl of various combined cheese to the microwave and turned it on for about 30 seconds. Right... then.. Oh! Cakes! She'd have to bake them? And... herbs? Should she... uhm...
She bit on her lip. Ugh! She didn't have high enough levels for this! A pan was grabbed and put on the counter and thankfully lined with baking paper, and she even managed to find a cookie cutter in the shape of a cat face! Right as she'd got that settled she remembered the microwave, that had just gone off and rushed over-
Oh- oh she had to mix this?! Gaki was slowly getting frustrated, there were too many steps! The bowl was hot, and the cheese wasn't properly melted. So... like a girl with a minute left on the clock and only one power up left, Gaki rushed to the cutlery draw, pulling out a metal spoon and rushing back towards the bowl. She stirred, and stirred, and stirred. Eventually, through the residual heat the cheese formed a some-what creamy consistancy! Right that would.. totally work to hold the cakes together! She was sure of it! It'd be like, a replacement... for oil and stuff, maybe.
Probably.
She stopped for a moment, adrenaline was pumping through her veins. This was the most work she had done in ages. And she lived on a farm. She was totally gonna sleep... all day tommorow- but after she had shown her cousin how much she appreciated them!!! The rice cooker turned off and Gaki was quick to grab the rice too.
Okay. Okay! Now was time for the fun bit, right? She moved first to wash her hands, just to be super cautious, before grabbing out a decent sized ball of the rice and, after a moments hesitation begining to lather it in cheese. The two were squashed and mixed togther, with Gaki trying her best to hide her face of displeasure. Gross. This was gross- like killing a level 10 bug-monster and the special effects splatting up onto the screen.
She managed to work it all into the cookie mould, pushing out a little over half a dozen cats before Gaki simply gave up, not able to stand making more. And, even though she had not preheated the oven, Gaki moved to bring the lined trey into it anyway and yanked the temperature up to 200F. That should cook it, right?
As she let it do it's thing for a moment she spoke, moving back towards the fridge, "It's gonna be good, Sid!" She was totally just trying to cinvince herself, but it was good she hadn't forgotten her cousin was watching her every move and literally watching Gaki's stats drop before their eyes. A few herbs were taken out which she promptly attempted to dice, so she could sprinkle it on top! And she grabbed out some plates...
There was a funny smell filling the kitchen. Oh. Oh? Oh no. Gaki rushed to the oven, only to pull out... a... peculiar... creation... The rice was very soggy, soggy and yet burnt. And... the cheese that had been holding it together had begun melting even more. In an attempt to save it Gaki tried to add on some of the leftover cheese...
They... didn't even look like cat's anymore- still! Gaki was never one to admit failure. With a puff of hr cheeks she used one of the spoons to dig the disaster off the pan and onto a place, putting some of the green herbs on the top of it like it was some restaurant quality meal when it was in fact probably a half-star rated meal in cooking mama. A breath.
It was time for the reveal. She looked up tried to look like this was her plan all along. Just ignore the mess in the kitchen, Sid! Gently placing cutlery to the side of the plate the moved forward and placed it by Sid, also moving to get them their favourite juice. "Level up day breakfast- it should get all your stats and- uh- stuff... in the positive..."
Probably the defense stat whenever Gaki tried to feed them another meal after this one, she was sure.
She quickly retreated to clean up the kitchen before returning with her own plate and an energy drink. Of course, it was birthday Sid's first, and she sat patiently waiting- or... rather impatiently. Please don't get food poisoning, Sid!
(requesting cooking skill up (+1) for this masterpiece)
Watching Gaki move, Sid rested their head on their hand and vaguely wished they could butt in to make some coffee. They wouldn’t, for now, though, as they watched her fumble about a bit. There were several moments they wanted to move in and help her but refrained. Hurting her pride now would have been a damn shame.
Realizing they had left their phone upstairs, Sid got up briefly to go grab it and come back down again— right in time to snap a picture of Gaki on their way back to the kitchen table. Looking down now at all of their missed messages and birthday wishes, they started answering those quickly— only to stop and blush on finding that one of their favorite cosplayers had released a video titled ‘Happy Birthday Sidney’ on the fornt. Of ocurse it was a vlog for something else, but it was great either way.
Pulling back their camera and starting to record, they grinned. “Thanks for the happy birthday wishes everyone,” they chimed giving a peace sign before stopping the recording and checking it a couple of times before uploading it. Ah, they probably should have applied some makeup and did their hair a bit more, but oh well. Actually, no they would do one that was a little longer than that and upload that one before quickly taking the other off thereafter. Yeah, that was good. They were happier with that one. And then suddenly they were getting more pings and drops of pen into their Pokepal.
As Gaki’s voice reached their ears, Sid looked back and smiled. “I know it will!” they assured trying to psychic her up in the process. And then she was bringing them the cute attempt at breakfast and…. level up breakfast day…. “Thank you, Gaki,” they spoke warmly, softly, and with every earnest bone in their body. Taking up a fork, they started into these little cheesy rice concoctions…
…
……..
………………
“Ah! Gaki! These are so good!” Sid called towards the kitchen. They may have been overexaggerating just a little, but they were so very proud of her that it didn’t really matter to them especially. “It’s really crisp!” And slightly burnt, but that was fine. They were used to stranger things. And Sid was hungry, as they realized, and went to eating very quickly after the fact only to nearly choke on the heat for a second before recovering. All the same, a good birthday breakfast, they’d say!
Gaki was dying. The anticipation of Sid's reaction was killing her. She could feel her confidence dropping, her heart pounding against her ears. Would she ruin Sid's level up day? They thanked her, so- so that was a start! And even if Sid hated it Gaki knew they'd never say they hated it, they just weren't that kind of person! So- so she had to watch for it in their expression! Plating up and starting out the kitchen, she almost didn't catch their words...
But she did! An embarresed flush painted her cheeks which she attempted to play off by stuffing herself with the food. Urgh- it... it was okay?? Really chesey and... burnt... but... but if Sid liked it! She forced down her food, averting her gaze, "Of course it's good, I made it, and I have high cooking stats!" She managed out, it was... probably bullshit, Gaki had terrible cooking skills- did she even cook anything other then instant food or rice for herself??
She would only get through about half of her own dish before deciding she'd had enough, too fuelled by her want to show Sid the presents she'd picked out and the small nervous thoughts that bounced around- she was like a game on fast-forward. Back to the kitchen, sparing glances at Sid every few seconds before she eventually went to take their dishes too. She'd clean later! She totally would!
"Do you want presents? Or- uh- I guess seconds? Not that I want to make more food or whatever..."

Sid was… so endeared. Gaki may have been nineteen now, but she might as well have been nine years old in actuality. A nine-year-old who had prepared a reasonable breakfast given their living situation. Sid loved it so much. “You did well, Gaki,” they smiled. At the question thereafter, Sid laughed and slowly stood up from their chair.
“Presents sound great…” they answered glancing back into the living room with the balloons on the floor and the numerous waifus about. Their chest tightened a little, though whether this was from fanatic love or admiration, they couldn’t quite decide. “Do I get to pick what I open first, or is there an order?” they asked as they walked over slowly examining the presents and the way they were wrapped. The strangely wrapped bag of some sort was certainly piquing their interest.
She did well??? Aaaaaaah. If Gaki was able to express happiness without feeling so utterly embarresed she would have, instead she just puffed her cheeks a little and averted her gaze. Ughh. A hand pulled through her hair as she twisted it around a finger. Right, yeah, right. She'd done good- the last few days wa totally worth it if Sid was enjoying themselves, she knew it was! And she hoped they'd enjoy their presents too- and they would if Gaki's experience in present buying and the helpful shopkeepers had anything to say about it!
Gaki followed Sid as the two ventured into the loungeroom, the girl almost immediatly plopping herself down on the couch and pulling one of her toad pillows to her chest as she bit back the raging sense of nerves- what if her skills for gift giving weren't high enough to match Sid's expectation status? Mario, she had to hope they were. "Uh, you can pick what you want! No specific order or whatever."

Oh uh…. huh….. Sid looked from one present to the next not entirely sure of which they wanted to attempt to unwrap. After a few seconds of debate, however, they finally went for the strangely wrapped… bag? Thing? It looked the most interesting out of all the things Gaki had wrapped, and since she hadn’t explicitly told them what to open first, they’d go with the most intrigue for now.
Grabbing it and setting it in their lap, Sid sstared at it for a solid moment before going for it. Pulling open the first layer of it bagged item(s?), they winced at the feeling of tape under their nails and then shifted to try again. It took a bit of finagling, but eventually, they managed to pull it open and off. Their eyes searched around questioningly as to what exactly they were looking at.
Gaki’s legs were bouncing, and she fought to grasp at her knees to keep them still. Sid was going for the big garbage bag! Under the garbage bag was a more transparent plastic bag, and… it was probably somew-aht weighty, there was definitely more than one thing in there, for sure! It was a bag straight from a shopping centre, perhaps… Gaki had run out of boxes to put her presents in and had to settle for that?
Whatever the case, as Sid went to open the bag inside the bag there would be a plethora of things in there, most being small items probably brought from somewhat generic shops. There would be a cheap pocket eyeshadow kit that a shop owner had insisted was top of the line and perfect for whoever Gaki was buying for, a few different scented soaps shaped like macarons and various food, a sparkly golden plastic bangle with a green craft gem glued onto it for some reason, a keychain sized audino plush that’s eyes were placed slightly off and who wasn’t stuffed generously, a few sticker sheets with gems of various colours on them and a packet of metallic pens.
Gaki cleared her throat once she was sure Sid had opened it all, ready to explain herself before they could question her and her decisions. “The shopping mall was a huge mission all on it’s own! The shop keepers would temp me with their words and- the gems? Those would power up clothing items and papers alike, as would the metallic pens! And then I saw the bracelet thing and thought it would be a perfect amulet holder!” Hari was pushed out of her face as she nervously adjusted herself on the couch, moving the pillow to sit on her lap. “And you like makeup, it has like only the boldest of shades, so it’ll up defense!” Eyes flicked to the soaps and then to the Audino, “And… the soaps…”
...Gaki couldn’t just say she was drawn to their smell, she needed something cooler, more impactful! “Boost… your stamina! Oh, and the little audino plush is like a luck equip!”

Slowly, Sid looked through the myriad of items that were in the bag. They listened to her explanations but were more focus on what was actually there right then.
They liked all of it, really, and not just because Gaki had gotten it for them. They could definitely use some scented soaps and the makeup (whether it was good or not). “I’ve been looking fr something new to try,” they murmured back just to assure her they were listening. The bangle would be immediately slipped onto their wrist…
And then the Audino caught their eyes. Sid’s own red spheres lightened and practically turned to hearts as they looked it over. “Adorable???” It was. They were quick to press their face into the little plush before clipping it on their shirt for now. Looking back at the various items that were still there, Sid smiled a bit softer. Pens were always nice. They could probably treat work to a few of them too, actually.
Looking back up to Gaki after a moment, Sid flashed a smile. “Through these magical items, my powers have grown exponentially!” they proclaimed puffing out their chest right before flashing a cheesier grin. “Thank you, I love all of them…” Ehhehehe, maybe they would open one of these pens and doddle just a few little flowers on their hand. Ah yeah, that was nice. Straightening again, they looked Gaki in the eyes. “Your mission was a success, operative… which one's next?” They’d let her choose what present they opened this time.
