Josh Devlin's Secret Base
Route 8
From the foundation of what used to be a ticket booth of a derelict Pokémon race track not too far north of Ash City's limits, there is a creaky, metallic, eastward-descending staircase leading to an underground space, obviously man-made. At the bottom of the staircase, two stories down, is a door cleverly painted to match the color and texture of the surrounding earth - only close scrutiny would uncover its handle.
Beyond appears to be a single, large, finished room covered with cheap plaster walls painted with a lightning motif, and ceiling tiles painted a deep purple - the shade of purple associated with storm clouds. Immediately upon opening the door, one would see an artist's depiction of the legendary Pokémon Raikou leaping straight in the direction of the open door, as though it were about to pounce. The eyes of the depiction glow red in the dark in a shallow attempt to dissuade intruders.
The north wall is painted differently from the others - there is a black-and-white checkered pattern not unlike the checkered flag dropped at the end of a Pokémon race. In the northeast corner is a trophy case with a single, silver-plated trophy inside.
Along the south wall is a retro gaming setup and two three-foot-square platforms each with four panels, a handrail between three and four feet tall sticking out of the ground from behind each of them. Thanks to an array large batteries that could be charged by a wide array of electric Pokémon, the room has many amenities of city life: temperature control, electricity, and the like.
The room is lit by standard fluorescent light fixtures, with the center light on a separate battery in case of a power failure. Above the trophy case is the name Josh Devlin with the date May 11, 2020, its characters shaped like stylized lightning bolts on a solid, black background.
Trophies in Trophy Case:
1. Silver Trophy - Ash City [Jumps of Doom]
