Bzzt. You hear a crackle of electricity as the camera flickers once, then dies. Your van is inside the bank, and no one is the wiser - there aren't even any guards patrolling the area right now. Where to next?
Gabe shot Senara a sideways glance. ‘And ruin this beautiful hair? No thanks,’he answered back even if she had a point. Even if what he wanted to say was ‘maybe you should have suggested it earlier’. Even if maybe she had and he had just forgotten. Whatever now. They didn’t have time to worry now. Mum…. He could sense she was close by somewhere. The fringes of her mind were in his range, but he couldn’t just get out of the car to tell where she was.
<The camera is fried… go, Gabe….> Harriet’s thoughts came.
Gabe inhaled, exhaled, and grabbed the door handle in one hand and a Pokeball in the other. As he opened the door, he released Spirit, the Alolan Marrowak, who quickly dropped down into the shadow of the door and then Gabe’s shadow. Easing out, Gabe felt the nerves spike in him again. This should work. This should work. This would work. They’d be fine.
Walking up to the back door, Gabe kept his head down despite knowing the security camera was chewed threw. Pushing the badge to the door, he heard it click, unlock, and then ease open. Opening it, Gabe stepped into the back of the bank. They were in. They were in. They were in. Not home free, but they were in.
Gabe’s eyes quickly flashed around to search out any signs of life, but there were none to be had just yet. Why? Where were they? If anything, knowing that the armored truck was coming, there should have been people here and….I’m wasting time… The vault was just down the hallway to the left… and the security deposit boxes were right next to that. Moving fluidly that direction, Gabe did his best to walk calmly, purposefully, as if he belonged there. Hopefully the Joltik could eat through the rest of the cameras, and this would be the last video they would see of them. In the meantime, he had to get Spirit to the vault.
Senara stuck her tongue out at Gabe in the most mature manner possible, and as she saw a few spark shoot off from the camera, she, too, opened the door on her side and stepped out. She kept one hand on the holster on her belt, fingers hovering over Baby Girl and Coccinelle's pokeballs, but the other nabbed something from the center of the front seat--a clipboard, probably meant for taking inventory. It gave her a reason to keep her head down as the two of them made it to the door. She an awful exciting feeling in the pit of her stomach. Once they stepped inside they'd be surrounded by people, guards and tellers alike. She hated crowds. But she had a good reason not to look up and around too much. Nobody would stop her if nobody noticed her.
Her nails drummed gently on the back of the clipboard as the door opened, and she stepped in behind Gabe, careful to stay out of his shadow. Etolie scuttled along the wall over them, crawling in through the door as soon as it opened.
It would have been their job to take inventory before they came in. If they missed it pulling in on the camera, nobody may know it's here yet. We have until some person with a grasp of the schedule realizes they're late, or notices the camera's out, and goes to check. So maybe ten minutes tops? Five if some guard's had their morning coffee.
As she walked Senara kept drumming, and kept her head down like she was looking over the clipboard. It was very quiet right now. Figures, since it was early. But maybe they had lucked out and they were short-staffed this morning. If only fate could be on her side for a little while. But being too quiet will draw attention, she considered, then said aloud in a relaxed voice, "So, I remember where mine is. Left wall, mid-height."
Above, another few "bzzt" and "zzp" sounds went off, as Etolie kept making quick work of the cameras and various other security systems along the walls. A fire alarm wire or two got gobbled up on the way, but that might work in their favor, too. If the sprinklers went off as soon as a fight broke out then Liz or Rep might get hurt by the water.
"Do you know where his is?" She looked up as they approached the room full of the safe deposit boxes. The whole room was full of, well, safes, one atop the other in rows that went from ceiling to floor. Each had numbers, each had a pair of key holes. Senara flipped the top piece of paper over on the clipboard and continued to pretend to read it.
I've never picked a double lock before. Hah, first time for everything...
Gabe Alim @mods WC: 501 You'll be amazed what a clipboard and an ID badge can do.
You look like you were born to be here! Such confidence, and the general busyness of the crowds, means that there aren't many eyes on you at the moment. Occasionally a teller might give you a wary look, but one way or another, other business catches their eye.
At this rate, you should have free reign of the place . . . provided you keep inconspicuous enough.
Gabe bit the inside of his mouth as Senara’s thoughts hit him. Five minutes was going to be a strain, but he knew that going into it. It was going to be enough because it had to be. As his eyes finally caught a few persons wandering around, he flashed a smile and looked back at the clipboard. The various early morning people went back to what they were doing… for now.
“Three fourteen,” he answered Senara slowly, quietly putting a finger on the clipboard as if he were describing it specifically. “It’s going to be a middle shelf…” As they finally weaved around the corner and stepped into the safety deposit vault, Gabe let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. They had made it this far. They just needed to get…. His eyes raised to the vault in question. “Spirit…” The shadow immediately extended out from under Gabe and then slipped up the shelves to the box in question. Fazing right through the metal locking, Spirit then pushed the box right back out the way he’d come.
And it worked. Gabe caught the small but long metal box immediately in his arms and held it tightly for a moment. Right after that, though, he opened it quickly and grabbed the much smaller box that was inside, pocketing it before holding the box back up for the Marowak to take and return. “Need some help?” Gabe asked looking back towards Senara.

The inside of the room was nothing particularly special bank-wise. It was still just a bank and it was still full of little shelf-safes. No red lasers from wall to wall that would trip an alarm or other fanciful traps. Senara just strolled in alongside Gabe and looked to the left wall, scanning for her box, while Etolie came along as well to nibble away any more cameras that might be pointing in their direction. Gabe had his little ghostly companion handle his find, but Senara's was higher up than she would have liked, and...well, she had a ghost with her, but she could in no way trust Baby Girl to grab the jewelry inside of that box without eating some of it. So she'd have to reach and unlock it the old fashioned way. She tried to get on her tip-toes to reach it by herself, because that was the option that involved as little extra light or sound as possible, and was the least weird looking for anyone who might be passing by...

[29 + 6 = 35 lolno]
...aaaaand she failed miserably. She didn't fall over and yelp or anything, but if there was one thing that Senara lacked compared to her partner in crime, it was height. Height that, unfortunately, she wouldn't be able to comp on her own. She grumbled some choice Kalosian words before Gabe spoke up to offer their help. For a second, Senara gave him a death glare. Say anything, ANYTHING, and I'll shank you.
"...give me a boost," she spoke aloud, but in a voice so muttered and angry that it might have sounded more like growling than words. With an actual boost Senara could pull out the small kit she'd had in her pocket and pick away at the lock. The double keyholes were new and exciting to try her hand at, but she was no stranger at this. It was the first time she'd done so in a bank of all places but it wasn't like the holes themselves were rigged. That would be insane. They just had to hope nobody walked in at this moment because trying to "explain" was a lot harder with her actively breaking into the thing.
Gabe Alim @mods WC: 401 She's too short. Or is Gabe too tall?
Gabe’s lips twisted up into a sneer as he watched Senara struggle with the box’s height off the ground. He spoke about as nonchalantly as he could, but the glare he received back and the mental words had him shaking with a laugh. A hand reached up and quickly sealed itself over his mouth. “You sure you don’t just want Spirit’s help?”
Yet Gabe did comply taking a knee, cupping his hands, and waiting before lifting her as much as she needed. He felt the muscles in his arms twitch just a little, but he wasn’t doing active lifting, just holding now until she was done. His eyes flicked towards the vault door slightly ajar. No one was coming or going now. It was fine. This was fine.
After Senara had her own box’s items squared away, Gabe was standing tall again and preparing to walk right out of that vault and back to the car. Then they could drive away with the van’s cash and— His eyes flicked briefly to the other vault, a much more guarded one with cash to spare. He….heh??? It had been going so well so ??? Heh????

If looks could kill, Gabe would be dead right now.
Senara kept glaring daggers at Gabe, standing there all smugly with his height, until he obliged in giving her a little lift. She was light enough that even his skinny arse should be able to hold her up. She might have put a little more effort into stomping on his hand than was necessary, though, as she stepped up. Once she had the proper amount of height she fiddled with the locks until she heard a pair of clicks in quick succession, and then with a creeeeeak the safe opened up, and she removed the parcel from inside. A quick look into the lovely black box gave her a flash of blue gemstones, and she quickly slid the necklace from its confinement. It was gorgeous, absolutely breathtaking, but she didn't have the time to admire it now. Instead she shut the now empty box and put it back in the safe before closing it, locking it, and jumping down, grinning from ear to ear.
She slid the necklace around her throat, clipped it in place, and then tucked it all under her turtleneck where it vanished beneath the soft black fabric. She did a few little bounces on her toes to make sure nothing sounded like clicking when she moved, which was good, before she looked up at Gabe. "Sh--" She paused while following his gaze.
Ah. Right. The vault. The other thing they might be able to get away with... ...but is it worth it?
Senara tapped him on the arm. "I'm voting van. Those guards will wake up soon. We gotta get back to them before they make much noise." She looked up towards the ceiling where Etolie was still scuttling too and fro like a little sentry. "Unless Harriet can teleport us right to the van...?" Coccinelle had pulled it off, but it had been a lucky shot.
Gabe Alim @mods WC: 344 She's too short. Or is Gabe too tall?
It's quiet. But not even too quiet. More, like, garden variety quiet. Nobody's snooping around or investigating, all of the pieces of this little puzzle seem to be where you left them, and you have ample time to work out the final details of your plan. Are you going double or nothing, or do you not want to risk the house winning here?
Gabe chewed his lower lip and looked back at Senara. Everything in him said don’t you dare, but some snakey part of him wanted to try. His lips parted, but her words cut him off. Right. There was money in the van already baring it hadn’t been emptied by someone. They just needed to focus on getting out.
Closing his eyes and reaching out with his mind, Gabe found Harriet. ‘Can you teleport us that far?’ He wasn’t actually sure just how far her power traveled especially when she couldn’t see them. Before they got an actual answer, however, Gabe felt his stomach tighten, a familiar sign of teleportation.
Suddenly he was standing next to the van, hand on the door. An awkward breath escaped from him as he managed to recapture himself well enough to open it. If anyone watching the security camera or otherwise had seen them, they needed to get moving right that moment. Pulling the door open, Gabe got in the driver’s seat and started the car. He’d wait a moment for Senara before backing up. Oh. Oh fuck this was …. this was kind of hard in a van like this, he realized.
Senara kept a steady gaze and waited for Gabe to make the call. He knew his psychic Pokemon better than she did, so he'd know how precise this could go. And then all they had to do was run. Well, drive. Same thing. Drive until they got to the waterline, then fly or surf away as fast as they could. That had always been the plan, this was just a little detour. And, when Gabe closed his eyes, it looked like they chose not to take said detour anyway. Senara sighed a small sigh of relief and held up her hand, catching Etolie as she leaped from the wall into them.
<Wheeeeeeeeeeeee-->
There. Everything and everyone ready t--
The sensation of being teleported again nearly knocked her off her feet again, and it did make her a little green in the cheeks. Blurgh. "I'm...never getting used to that," she grumbled and leaned against the van for a moment, taking the time for her stomach to right itself inside her, before she opened the door on her side and slipped into the seat. She checked the guards tied up in the back. So far so good? Their binds were still in place, so she drew out Etolie's pokeball and returned her quickly and quietly.
What was taking them so long to go, though? Senara frowned a little and peeked her head out the window to get a better view of what was behind them. It was on her blind side, though, so she had to really turn all the way around to help.
"Some get-away driver, needing a half-blind woman to help him pull out of a parking lot," she slyly chided, getting just a bit of revenge for needing his help earlier. All in good humor, of course. Mostly. "Keeping going, then when I say start turning to the left. It'll be a sharp turn but we should be able to do a three point turn and get out of here..."
Gabe Alim @mods WC: 352 So close, so close! Don't roll shite now, dang it!
