Coeus was still on the upper deck, watching a seaking flail about in the water below. He felt the ranger brush his mind upon her return to the ship and gave a bored sigh. Seemed like she wanted everyone to gather back up before they reached the docks. He clasped his hands together then levitated a few inches off the deck floor as he headed to their rendezvous point.
Tansy and Raya had ventured back to the battle deck and watched the trainers there curiously. Seeing other pokemon and trainers battle was always beneficial and even just observing the two could learn a lot. While they were easily Liz's most powerful pokemon, that didn't mean they couldn't still learn things. They readily heard Liz's mental voice when she reached out and began heading for the loading deck.
Eran and Ciara had been happily exploring, both dark types becoming more active as evening drew near. They scoured the ship from top to bottom, the absol particularly pleased to be poking her nose into other people's business. Eran mostly just liked being around Ciara. It took a few tries for the ranger to reach out to them but the dark types soon picked up on her attempts and a bit reluctantly abandoned their explorations as they went to meet the others.
The psychic-type turned around, whirling her rear star to deflect Josh's Ball back at him before leaping overboard. Not quite the way he expected the wild to leave him alone, but it did the trick. By the time he finished taking stock of the battle's damages, he saw Liz on the other side of the battleground and waved at her. "Gonna make one last run at the game room before it's time to dock," he mumbled, catching a glimpse of several Clamperl on a nearby islet while he ascended the stairs to the mostly empty hall. The same two people, along with a teenage female, were still playing tile games.
The two he had played with before called out to him. "Hey, I think we have time for one more hanchan before they kick us off if you want to play a fourth!"
"Sure. 350 Pen good again?"
"Yeah!" The wager agreed to, the four sat down and rolled for seating. Josh found himself in the South seat. A couple of uneventful hands went by, then the table erupted in laughter after he won with a very rare hand. "Tsumo. Same Number Sets only. 1600 all." The game quickly turned after that, though, with Josh running cold in a lengthy first half, finding himself in fourth place at the end of the East round. Hopefully the South round would turn things around for him...

Liz returned the wave when she noticed Josh as she met back up with Raya and Tansy. The trio began making their way to the loading dock where her other pokemon were set to meet. Eran and Ciara rejoined the ranger at the lower deck and she recalled the pair to their balls.
Coeus was leaning against the railing at the loading deck when Liz, Raya and Tansy arrived. She nodded to the fox before also recalling him to his pokeball. Unloading was going to be tricky enough as it is with just two pokemon. Drago had gone on ahead of the boat and was already cruising along the island shore, enjoying terrifying any of the locals trying to sunbathe in peace.
"Drago, give the nice beach-goers a break."
The ranger connected with the gyarados who glanced in the direction of the boat and huffed before going off to instead chase wingull. Liz shook her head then turned with Raya and Tansy to look ahead toward the approaching port. They'd gotten down to the loading deck rather early so only a few other folks were waiting around for them to dock. She briefly wondered if she'd see Josh departing as well.
The South round did indeed turn things around for Josh, winning a series of four small hands in a row to get him out of the hole. For the last two hands, he chose to play defensively and protect his lead, even going as far as to take apart his hand when one other player looked even remotely dangerous. The second game ended with Josh booking a small win worth 28 Pen, leaving him stuck only 39 Pen on the day. Not too big a loss, considering he had not played in a long time.
As the four were putting the tiles and scoring sheets back in the box, two blasts of the ship's horn went off, followed by a PA announcement: "Good evening, this is your captain speaking. We have arrived in Ivy Town at 7:40 PM local time. All passengers must report to the loading deck prior to 8:25 PM local time. Please make sure to check your cabins for any personal items prior to disembarking. We thank you for your patronage." Was it really that late?
By the time he had gathered his things, the loading deck was fairly calm, Josh barely able to make out Liz's face in the sunset. "I'll be down there once I get through security!" he called out to the ranger. The line appeared to be going quickly - he would be through the line in a few minutes at most.

The ranger had already cleared security and was watching the various passengers gathering to disembark. She noticed a few of the trainers they'd met and battled milling about the slowly growing crowd. The announcement however seemed to open the floodgates as more and more people began pouring onto the deck. There seemed to be two sections for disembarking, one for pedestrians and the other for drivers. Fortunately there was a solid wall between the two so nobody was over exposed to the exhaust fumes.
The ship gently rolled into the port and the proper docking procedures began to commence. On shore you could see the line of people, vehicles and pokemon waiting to board. They'd have to wait until all the current passengers had unloaded before being able to board themselves. Raya and Tansy stuck close to Liz, giving her a bit of a nice little gap of space from the folks crowding around them.
She looked over to Josh when he called to her and she waved. The gates opened and those nearest the front began filing out onto the dock though the ranger hung back to let Josh catch up with them. She grinned at the racer and extended a hand to him.
"Well it was really great seeing you again Josh. I'm sure our paths will cross again and I hope Resheph's a dragonair by then. And good luck on the track, I'll be sure to try and catch one of your races some time."
Raya dipped her head to Josh in a solemn farewell, though Tansy beamed happily at him and offered a vine to shake. Liz chuckled at the pair then nodded to Josh as she made her way onto the dock and as they parted ways, she gave him a final wave and fond smile.
Josh was able to make his way through the security line, disembarking the vessel. He had reached Ivy Town with the sun just above the horizon. He didn't envy the voyage of the crew or passengers boarding for Bass City - they would be traveling completely by night, their scheduled departure time being after the sun went down. Thankfully, Liz seemed content to wait for Josh until he was all the way off the pier and in the commons area.
"It was great seeing you too. Thanks for the support," Josh replied, accepting the handshake. "My race is actually tomorrow, and it's here in Ivy Town. Tickets should still be available if you can come watch." He accepted Tansy's vine shake as well, though it was a bit stronger than he expected. "...I'm actually going to have to qualify tonight, under the lights - I need to have my time trial in within the next two hours. Hate to leave so suddenly, but I gotta run. See ya!" With that, the racer dashed to the other side of the port, where a small crowd was observing a Dewgong and racer running their own time trial.
