Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
To participate in the Swarm, first post in this thread looking for a Pokemon. A mod will tag you and reply with stats for one Pokemon you find, including color and possibly even evolution depending on the species. Reply again encountering and trying to capture the Pokemon. Once you succeed, do not post in the thread again.
You may only find one per character, no rerolls. This is to prevent spamming to find special Pokemon. If for any IC reason you need to encounter another, use the same stats originally rolled and pretend it's a different individual.
Pokemon in Swarms have a 20% chance of being a special coloration!
Pokemon in swarms have a +20% capture rate with any ball, and will never flee.
This swarm closes at 11:59pm site time on June 30. After that, no new encounters will be spawned. However, anyone who has an ongoing encounter that isn't yet finished has until 11:59pm on the 15th of the following month to finish trying to catch their encounter. After that, the thread will be locked and archived.
Julia huffed as she trudged through the rain that poured over Route 7. How dare those jerkfaces online talk bad about—well, any Pokémon, really! When news of a Chikorita swarm got out, a bunch of people had jumped in on Chattr to talk about how ugly they thought the Leaf Pokémon was and how "literally anything else" should have been swarming. She'd thought about leaving her own post about how awesome Chikorita were and how they deserved as much love as any Pokémon, but then a better idea struck her: She'd go out, catch one, and love the heck out of it.
Okay, so she'd been planning on checking out the swarm, anyway, but now, she had a motive to brave the rainy weather and find a Chikorita for herself. Yet a sense of déjà vu crept over her when she realized she didn't actually see any Chikorita. They were probably hiding from the rain. Well, that didn't matter! She'd managed to find Pokémon in the rain before, and she'd do it again!

Ooh, something smelled good. Julia sniffed the air and looked around, trying to follow her nose to the source of this aroma. As she got closer, she heard something like chirping over the pitter-patter of the rain on her umbrella. Her eyes widened a bit when she finally saw what was making the sounds and smell: a giant Chikorita dancing in the rain, spinning his leaf. A smile stretched wide across Julia's face at the sight. That was both awesome and adorable!
After a few moments, the Chikorita noticed Julia watching and paused mid-step, blinking curiously. Julia waved and stepped forward. "Hey! Having fun?"
The Chikorita chirped affirmatively and started dancing again, hopping back and forth on his feet. This time, Julia joined in, her boots splashing in the muddy puddles that had formed underfoot. The Chikorita began to prance around, occasionally leaping forward, and Julia followed his lead. They danced together like this until they were both out of breath. The Chikorita was so big that when Julia squatted down to rest, he was able to nuzzle her face, prompting her to giggle and pat his head.
"Man, Chattr was totally wrong," Julia said between breaths. "You're awesome."
The Chikorita chirped with a big smile.
"So awesome, in fact, that I want you to be my Pokémon." She held out a Poké Ball. "What do you say?"

Oh no.
It was raining again. It wasn't like this on Route 1.
It was weird. Earlier that day, Lynn had been on Route 1 searching for Eevees and it'd been perfectly clear. A little windy, yes, but not raining. At least it wasn't pouring it down like the time when she'd caught a buneary. That'd been awful.
She still had to keep an umbrella out. Since last time, she felt vindicated that it'd been a sound investment. Wolfram likewise appreciated it, happily perched on Lynn's shoulder's as normal.
Lynn only hoped that it wouldn't affect her chances of finding a Chikorita. They were rare, and at the very least, she wanted to meet one.

Hours passed in the rain. And Lynn hadn't found a whiff of Chikorita anywhere. Eventually, she found herself wandering back to the nearby town, somewhat upset. Maybe if it wasn't raining, she could have Starburst out to help her scout.
"Sometimes I guess you can't always win," she mused.
"Chik! ~"
Lynn looked down to see a yellow(?) Chikorita. Weren't Chikorita supposed to be green? Wait... could it be a shiny Pokemon? Awesome! She broke into a grin.
"Yes! I've seen a Chikorita! And it's shiny!" She bet that Elliot hadn't ever seen a shiny Chikorita. It wouldn't be much, but getting a small comeback on him for challenging the water gym would be nice, so she whipped out her phone and sent him a picture of a curiously confused Chikorita.
Afterwards, Lynn crouched down and faced the little fella with a smile. "Looking for some dry shelter, I guess?" She asked him, glancing upwards at the umbrella that sheltered them. "I guess not even grass types like the rain that much. Thanks for letting me see you, at least. You're the first Chikorita I've ever seen. We don't get your kind in Galar."
A small scene ensued where Lynn tried to encourage the Chikorita to leave, but he seemed intent on following her. Even after the rain had let up.
Still hearing the small pitter-patter of feet, Lynn turned around to face the little Pokemon again. "You're really intent on following me, aren't you? Well... if you want to join my team, then you should know that I'm a trainer. I fight. Can you fight?"
The Chikorita nodded and tensed in a way that suggested he was certainly more than willing to fight.
"Alright then, I think my Pichu should be a good match for you," said Lynn.
A second later, and a curious faced electric rodent was standing beside the grass-type. "Thundershock, Webs!" Lynn directed him, and before long strikes of lightning and whorls of leaves were flying across the route.

Lynnette tries to catch the Chikorita with a Premier Ball! (+trainer battle bonus)
Post by Borzil Blairwood on Jun 21, 2020 7:50:08 GMT
After a long day of mining, Borzil would be coming back down Route 7 with a bag in tow - filled with his newly gained Mining Kit from that eccentric miner, as well as his handful of finds - eager to get home to sort out his new belongings. At his sides, Daisy and Rose would both be strolling along; seeming to be enjoying the warm glow of the evening sun as they walked. "Whew... Today's been a nice day, hasn't it?" Borzil mentioned to the others - to which Daisy would moo in agreement, and Rose would idly nod.
Now all that was left was to get home - though a distant shape on the horizon would catch Borzil's eye; prompting the Ranger to perk up curiously, as he picked up the pace. What - or who - was that, over there...? Daisy the Bouffalant - Level 5 Dial the Sigilyph - Level 5 Rose the Cranidos - Level 5

Walking along, it didn't take long for Borzil to approach and find what he had spotted before - a little Chikorita, sunning herself on a sizeable rock! And on top of that, this Chikorita appeared to be an odd color; something that'd make Borzil's eyebrows raise curiously! Maybe Vert would like a Chikorita like this one...? She seemed to be a pretty and relaxed little Chikorita, in any case...
Approaching the rock, Borzil would hum for a moment to sit down and lean back against it - smiling up to the Chikorita, who opened an eye to peer down at him with a calm curiosity. "Hey there!" Borzil greeted the Chikorita. "Mind if I relax here with you?" Already, Rose and Daisy were both snuggling up nearby - the quiet Cranidos using her friend's afro as a pillow, as Daisy nuzzled Rose in turn. The Chikorita, seeing that everyone was just taking it easy, would smile and nod to Borzil - to which the young man smiled back and nodded.
As the Chikorita returned to her photosynthesizing though - closing her eyes and resting her head - Borzil would also close his eyes; folding his hands on his lap in a lax fashion. In fact, he was so lax...
... That none of them seemed to realize just for how long they'd end up dozing off (completely by accident) for, until a sudden weight leaped onto Borzil's stomach! The young man would make a half-yelp half-grunt in surprise as he startled, awakening suddenly and sitting up straight. Bewildered and groggy, it took him a second to realize what had happened and what was going on - only to hear a squeak!
Glancing down, he'd see the Chikorita - who had tumbled off of his torso after he sat up so suddenly like that. Realizing his mistake, Borzil was quick to help the Chikorita back up to her feet - sleepily mumbling "H-heck, 'm sorry; dozed off 'ere..." Slowly, awareness was creeping in - enough awareness to realize that the sun was setting proper, the dark night sky and stars coming with it. Jeez! How long had they been napping? Already, Daisy and Rose were beginning to stir and stretch; the both of them quickly realizing that they, too, had overslept - much to the young man's amusement.
Turning his attention back to the Chikorita, as he yawned and rubbed his eyes, he'd offer the Chikorita a bit of a goofy smile. "'anks for waking me up, buddy; probably should get home before the Seviper n' Bisharps start prowling... Although..." As awareness proper came in, Borzil would become more coherent; grinning gently at the Chikorita. "... I've got a cousin, who I think would love to meet a sweetheart like ya; she specializes in grass types, n' got a big ol Tropius as a best friend, who would probably get along wonderful with you!"
Digging out a pokeball, Borzil would offer it to the Chikorita. "Would you like to meet 'em? Could take you with me, to introduce you to her!" Using a Pokeball, +10% from Friendly Spirit
“Keep an eye on them for me, Cloud,” Gabe ordered softly as he set down a bag containing two new and very precious eggs inside. After some shuffling around between numerous trade agreements with breeders, Gabe had obtained a rather special Growlithe egg and a Scorbunny egg said to be just as special, and he didn’t want to mess it up. Cloud the Dragonair set in charge of this gave a warm smile back and very quickly curled his entire body around the bag snuggling against it and humming softly. He couldn’t wait to see what was inside them!
Gabe stood, stretched, and looked around. This was technically a pitstop on Route 7, and he didn’t have too much time to waste. Chikorita weren’t his favorite Pokemon, but he supposed he was collecting a lot of other Grass types, so he might as well see if he couldn’t find one more to add. If I’m going to challenge that forsaken Gym, I’m going to need it… Cough, anyways.
Fishing out a Pokeball, Gabe released Monkey, an Infernape he’d bought on a whim and hadn’t done much with since. The Infernape stretched and looked about before blinking in confusion at where he was. Looking back at Gabe, he offered a small confused smile. Gabe smiled back.
“We’re doing some hunting today, alright?” he mused. “If you see a Chikorita or something similar, let me know…” Gabe paused on seeing the semi-vacant stare of Monkey. Oh…. Well then. Shifting to grab his phone, Gabe quickly tapped a name into Chuugle and showed exactly what he was looking for. “Got it?” The Infernape brightened now and nodded. He could do that!

It was a blustery day on route 7, much to Wren's chagrin. Their hair constantly kept getting in their face which was a minor annoyance to be sure. What made it worse was how cold the wind made it. With any luck, they would be able to find a Chikorita and leave. At least hugging Daya close to them helped some, the little Litleo seemed to enjoy being held and kept an eye out on her surroundings. Gale was flying nearby as well, making sure that nothing was missed. If there was a Chikorita around, he would find it surely. "The sooner the better..." Wren grumbled, shivering a little before once again fixing their hair. Stupid wind.
The Chikorita swarm seemed like it would be a nice break from work. Koray had been getting cabin fever and wanted to be able to go out and enjoy the nice weather, especially with summer starting. He'd been taking more days off work lately and it seemed to be helping. With Rowan and Elanor with him, he was confident that he'd be able to find the Chikoritas. If he was lucky, maybe he'd find one of the special colors he'd heard rumors about. First thing's first, he had to find it first. Hopefully there wouldn't be anymore migraines out of the blue... that had been horrendous to say the least of things.
Walking along route 7 was pretty uneventful, something that Jazz didn't mind after the stress they'd been under lately. There wasn't much going on lately, and they were looking forward to taking a break and being able to see if they could catch some new pokemon. The Chikorita swarm would be a nice detour and would let them get back to the ranger headquarters without much fuss. They'd taken a few days off after their family arrived and following the migraine. A few mental health days had made a world of difference. Or so they kept telling themselves. They hoped that this outing would raise their spirits a little more. Saito was with them this time, the Raboot was quiet and looking around for any sign of the pokemon that were supposed to be in the area.
