Ok, here he was again. The Plum City gym. Marley pushed open the large doors, stepping into the darkened building. Man, was it just dark in there twenty four seven? Well, thankfully Marley had a way to solve this. Carefully, he slipped his eyepatch from one eye to the other, the more sensitive, dark adjusted eye allowing him to see clearly.
And then the lights came on. "Hey there!"
"GAH! #$%$, %@#$ %#$@!"
Sable blinked, watching Marley rolling on the ground, clutching his face in pain. That...was not the normal response. "I didn't think the lights were that bright." Marley managed to get control over himself, quickly covering his sensitive eye. ""They aren't. Just this eye's really damn sensitive to light. I should have seen that coming." "Oh! I'm sorry about that," Sable apologized. She had just meant to surprise him, not hurt him. Marley took a deep breath. "It's ok. I never told ya." He fixed his hair, trying to get some semblance of dignity back. Sable was a little relieved that she didn't cause any lasting harm.
"So, I'm guessing you're here for a gym battle. Unless you came here just to pay little old me a visit." she grinned. Marley smirked. "A little of column A, and a little of column B." he reached into his jacket and pulled out a pokeball. "Pity. It's hard to find a guy who isn't just interested in my gym badges," Sable said with a small giggle, pulling out a pokeball. "Really? You've got plenty of good qualities." Marley chuckled. "Flattery wont get you the badge any easier. Now let's see that pokemon of yours."
Marley smirked. b]"As you wish. Come on out Ironton!"[/b] There was a bright flash of light, and the massive form of Marley's Steelix came into view, letting out a mighty roar.

2pnm3v6Rp_ 13 - 41 = -28 points difference! This is a Hard battle, and due to the type advantage Scraggy has you'll need to write 800 words.
You are challenged by Sable's Scraggy!
What will you do?
Scraggy Lv20
5 Energy
Average
Adamant
Moxie
MOVES
Drain Punch, Dragon Dance, Sand Attack, Payback
NOTES
Sable's Scraggy may seem like a silly Pokemon that'd rather dance than throw a punch, but don't let it fool you! With Dragon Dance to power it up, Sand Attack to weaken opponents, and Drain Punch to heal and hurt simultaneously, it's able to systematically work through an opponent's whole team if given the opportunity. Payback helps clutch out near-loss situations, while Moxie helps it win all the harder.
"Aw hell," Marley muttered, seeing the forum of the Scraggy appearing on the field. As goofy as Scraggy appeared, Marley wasn't foolish enough to think this would be easy. For one, Scraggy had a distinct type advantage over Ironton, being part fighting. Second, with Ironton as big as he is, it wouldn't be hard to land some hits on him. Sable was aware of this as well, smirking. "This isn't going to be a simple cakewalk for you. Now, Scraggy, bust out your moves. Show them the dance of dragons!"
The Scraggy nodded and...started dancing in the middle of the ring. Quite goofy to be sure, if Marley wasn't aware of what the Scraggy was doing. "Oh bloody hell!" Dragon Dance. A move the boosted a pokemon's attack and speed. And on a fighting type, that was a deadly combo. Ironton! We gotta make this quick! Flatten that thing with a Heavy Slam!"
Ironton roared and drew himself up to full height, before bringing himself crashing down like a tree atop of Scraggy. Dust flew from the impact, but trainers covering their mouths to avoid breathing it in. Marley knew the attack was weak against fighting types, but at the very least, Marley was hoping Ironton's unusual size and weight made up for it. As the dust began to clear, Ironton drew back. The Scraggy, battered but still kicking, climbed to his feet and started dancing once again. Guess it was too much to hope he could flatten it in one hit.
Sable let out a triumphant laugh. "That's right! It's going to take a lot more than that to bring us down. Scraggy, show no fear! Keep on dancing!" Scraggy didn't seem as sure as his trainer, but continued his dragon dance regardless.
Marley scowled. Now they were just mocking him. "That how you want it? Fine by me! Ironton, smash him flat with another Heavy Slam!" The steelix let out a bellow as he reared himself up, and then brought himself down onto Scraggy like a wrecking ball. Scraggy tried to jump back, only to misstep and trip over his 'pants'. As the ground rumbled from the impact, Sable flinched, her confidence waning a little. "You ok buddy?" she called.
Through the dust, Scraggy rose to his feet, battered, but still standing. He short her a look that said 'ok, stop playing around!' Sable nodded. "Ok, let's get to it!" she said, pumping herself up. "I ain't given ya the chance!" Marley yelled out, "Ironton! One last slam should do the trick! Bury him!" Ironton roared as he reared himself up, ready to come down on the Scraggy. "Scraggy! Drain Punch!" Scraggy didn't try to run this time. With a look of determination, he brought back a fist as the Steelix fell towards him. As the two attacks hit, Marley swore felt a shock wave.
The force of the slam knocked Scraggy flat. Steelix shot up, roaring in pain, before collapsing to the ground like a cut tree."Ironton!" Marley cried out. Scraggy, still battered, but certainly looking better than before, climbed back to his feet. Sable cheered. "Yeah! That's how you do it! Now soak up some moxie and get ready for the next one!"
Moxie? That thing had Moxie too? Mow it was even more charged up, and it could heal itself! Marley was almost trembling. Ok, keep cool head. He's still a bit beat up. If you whip out Shep, you might be able to beat him down before...
Then, slow rumbling pulled Marley from his thoughts. It all happened so fast. The seemingly defeated Ironton suddenly shot forward like a snake, electricity crackling in his jaws. The Scraggy, caught off guard, couldn't move in time before the Steelix chomped down on him, sending bolts of electricity through him. Thunder Fang. "Wha!?" Sable yelled out in shock. Marley laughed, mostly out of relief. "Ironton you damn sturdy beauty!" Sable managed to collect herself. "Fine then. He should be on his last legs anyway! Scraggy, Payback!" The Scraggy moved to deliver the finishing blow, only for his body to suddenly lock up. Sable was almost beside herself. "PARALYSIS!?" Marley couldn't stop laughing. "Of all the beautiful luck! Ironton! Now's our chance! Finish him with a Heavy Slam!"
Ironton let out a mighty roar that shook the building as he reared up. "Scraggy! Drain Punch! You can do it!" Sable cried out. Fighting against tight muscles, Scraggy brought his arm back, ready for the final clash.
The force of the collision almost knocked the two trainers off their feet, dust kicked everywhere. They held their breathes. Who had come out on top?
As the dust cleared, Ironton was laying on his side, beaten. Next to him, an unconscious Scraggy lay. A draw.
"Noo! My sweeper!" Sable lamented. Marley's expression softened to a proud smile. "You did good Ironton. I'm proud of ya."
As the two trainers recalled their pokemon, they both sighed, letting their bodies relax. "Well, that was a good fight," Marley grinned. "Oh yeah," Sable replied, grinning, "But it's not over yet."
Marley's smile turned wild as he grabbed his next pokeball. "Damn right it's not. Now then, for something differenr." He threw the pokeball. "Come on out Beartrap!"

Y2C2zwF4p_ 94 - 24 = -70 points difference! This is a Very Hard battle, but no type advantages on either side. 900 is your target today.
It's a Galarian Showdown!
Linoone Lv19
5 Energy
Average
Calm
Quick Feet
MOVES
Headbutt, Pin Missile, Hone Claws, Sand Attack
NOTES
Refreshingly simple compared to a lot of Sable's other Pokemon, Linoone's plan of attack is pretty standard. With Headbutts up close, Pin Missiles from afar, and naturally quick movement, Linoone does his best to keep his opponents on their feet at any range. If a Sand Attack leaves them off tempo, he often takes a chance to hone his claws to a perfectly fine point.
In twin flashes of light, the contestants for round two of this gym battle appeared on the field. Marley couldn't help but smile in delight at the enemy pokemon. A Galarian Linoone. "Nice!" he chuckled. Sable grinned. "Thought you'd like it. Give you a little taste of your homeland." "Well, I appreciate it. Now then, let's get to fightin', shall we?" Sable laughed. "Damn straight! Linoone! Sand Attack!"
"Beartrap! Mud Shot!"
The Linoone shot forward, quickly closing the gap between itself and the more slow moving Stunfisk. Whipping his body around like a whip, he kicked up a cloudful of dust, right at Beatrap. Unfortunately for him, it was at that point that Beartrap shot out a burst of mud right at him. And in the ever eternal battle of mud versus sand, well, mud wins. Linoone yelped out as he caught the mud right in his eyes, jumping back to put some distance between the two to try and wipe the mud out of his eyes, with limited success.
"Nice one Beartrap! Now, get into position!"
As the Linoone was busy cleaning his eyes, Beartrap started kicking up dust, obscuring his position. As the dust cleared, the Stunfisk was nowhere to be seen. Sable had a very clear idea of what was going on. "Linoone! Quick! Pin Missle at his last location!" Linoone quickly recovered himself and then, with bristling fur, fired a barrage of needles right where Beartrap once was. Dirt and dust flew as the barrage struck the ground, striking over and over mercilessly. After a minute of constant firing, Linoone ceased his onslaught. The dust cleared, revealing holes where Linoone's attacks had hit, but no sign of the Stunfisk. Marley chuckled, grinning. "Nice try, but no dice. Gotta keep yer eye out. My little body could be anywhere."
The tension in the air was tight. Sable and Linoone were looking around, trying to find any sight of the Stunfisk. Galarian Stunfisks were masters of ambush tactics, and Marley was using that skill in spades. Sure, Sable could try to blast the entire field with Pin Missle, but that would take time, and leave Linoone open to being shot at. Unlike the last battle, Beartrap was strong against Pin Missle, and Linoone's other attacks. "Take it slow Linoone," Sable said carefully, eying the field. "Sharping yourself up with Hone Claws, and then sniff him out!"
Linoone nodded, slowly scratching his claws together, sharpening them. He was going to try and let that Stunfisk make the first move, and when he did, he was going to counter with something painful. Slowly, he started stalking the field, sniffing the ground, trying to find his opponent. Dammit, nothing but dust and dirt. Stunfisks were quite patient, able to remain in place for quite a long time. This could go on for a while.
However, that was not the case. As Linoone searched for his prey, he paused when he felt his paw bump against a small nub on the ground.
SNAP!
If you haven't heard a Linoone scream, you have no. Beartrap closed his body around Linoone's leg, his steel claws chomping into him. Linoone yelped out in pain, bouncing and failing around, trying to shake the Stunfisk off. Marley couldn't help but laugh at it all. "Hah! Gotcha!" Sable scowled. That was dirty fighting. And dark types were known for dirty fighting. He was stealing their schtick! "Linoone! Headbutt!" Linoone managed to gather himself enough to bring his head back and headbutt the Stunfisk. Beartrap released his grip on Linoone's paw, bouncing back along the ground as Linoone shook his injured paw.
"Linoone! Don't give him a chance to hide again! Pin Missile!"
"Beartrap! Water Gun!"
Both attacks collided in the air. The two seemed to struggle for a moment, before an explosion erupted between the two of them (No, don't question how water and pins can generate an explosion, this is pokemon dammit!), kicking up dust again. "Linoone! Don't give him a chance to hide! Charge on in and headbutt him hard!" Eager for payback, the Linoone let out a war cry, charging into the smoke to try and strike the Stunfisk.
SNAP!
As the dust cleared, it showed that Beartrap had once again clamped down on Linoone.
This time on his head.
Linoone let out another pained scream, this time muffled, before wildly flailing around, slamming his head into the ground over and over again in an attempt to dislodge the stunfisk. To be honest, it was almost quite comical. Sable's expression fell. hey had such an epic battle before, and now it had turned into a Loony Toons cartoon.
As funny as the whole thing was, Marley knew that if Linoone continued to slam Beartrap like that, he could very well knock out his pokemon. "Beartrap! Water Gun!" Beartrap released Linoone, just in time for the pokemon to catch a full powered water gun right to the face. Linoone was sent flying back, slamming into the wall before slumping down like a rag doll. There was only so much one pokemon can take.
Marley pumped his fist in the air. "Booyeah! Good job Beartrap! How are you holdin' up?" Beartrap was a little battered from the repeated slams, but was overall in decent shape. He could keep going for a little more.
Now, Sable was down two. Marley grinned. "Time for the last one. Bring it on!"
