Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
The house that your next delivery belongs to is nextdoor! But there appears to be a fierce looking Stoutland sticking his head up over the low fence and glaring questionably at everything that passes. Hopefully he's just being a good boy and not looking for a fight... hopefully....

After the two identified themselves as with the postal system, they were permitted passage into the gated community. Queen Zing slowed down significantly at Shalin's request when she saw how many elderly were wandering about - not to her surprise at all. Northwest Johto was full of gated communities like this one, particularly Ecruteak and Olivine. "Hmm, reminds me a lot of home," Shalin remarked, not having to speak up as much with Queen Zing flying more slowly.
The two had arrived at their next delivery locations, Shalin letting out a "heh" at seeing the Lumineon-shaped mailbox. This particular residence was cute but modest; she wouldn't be surprised if there were retired Coordinators in the family. With no vehicles in the driveway, she assumed there was no one home. Queen Zing landing next to the mailbox, she dug out a pair of envelopes addressed to the location she was standing at and left them inside for the family to pick up at their convenience.
After completing her delivery, Shalin and Queen Zing rejoined Agate. "This is a really nice town," the girl said in idle thought. "If I had to move from Johto, this wouldn't be a bad place to move to." On the other side of the fence was a highly muscled Stoutland that would not stop barking at Queen Zing. She menacingly buzzed back, her rider's melancholy mood disappearing from the strong tingling sensation that came with it. Smiling, Shalin gently pat the Beedrill's head. "That cheered me right up - thanks." Queen Zing shrugged, then relaxed. Although that wasn't her intent, it at least made Shalin happy.
Hmmm, as he expected, there's something wrong with Shalin... As for him though, he'll just proceed, somehow or another... Huh, this area got a lot of elderly people huh... yeah, speeding with Jasper is a bad idea like this. Agate gently pat the Arcanine on his neck, a sign to slow down, which he happily complies. ...But Jasper, you could do without that spring on your steps... What are you, a puppy trying to get some headpats from the grandpas and grandmas?
"Home, huh," Agate muttered idly. Home... he wondered how his hometown looked now... they sold the farmhouse for moving to Arciel with what they have... they practically have no house to return to there anymore... The ashes already stored in Celestial Tower... Can he one day visit there again without thinking of the sad moments, only the warm one?
His little thought bubbles was popped out when he saw a face of a Stoutland. "...Are?" Agate cannot help but to let out a stupid sound as he entered the Stoutland's line of sight. Queen Zing already trying to scare it, but Agate stopped her with a firm 'no'.
"...Sorry about that. I got a delivery for your master. Could you let me in perhaps? Or if you don't trust me you can call them out."
Agate have no idea if his aura would give any calming presence considering he haven't learned Aura Channeling, But even so, he tried his best to sound as nice as possible, showing that he meant no harm.
The next house on the route for you is just up ahead! You can see that there is a white picket fence and some Beautifly fluttering about in the front gardens.
The Stoutland gives a sharp 'urmph' sound and immediately starts barking loudly! "Yeller! Tha hell ya yappin fer??" A masculine voice would call before an old man in a wide brimmed hat came walking around the corner. He gives you a skeptical look before looking down at your messenger bag. "Don't want whtever yer sellin' boy...."

Thankfully, Shalin's next destination was just a few houses next door. Her Beedrill gradually slowed, trying to hover and back away while making as little noise as possible; the guardian Stoutland seemed at best terrified, at worst irritated, at the big bug. "Agate, my next stop is a few houses over. I'll keep an eye on you and come flying over if things look bad," she called loudly as the yellow Pokémon slowly floated toward the delivery girl's next destination.
Once she had arrived just outside the fenced house, it was apparent that the man Agate had a delivery for wasn't too happy. From her experience, there were two kinds of elderly people; sweet and gentle, or ornery and entitled. The man Agate had a package for appeared rather on the entitled side. While she felt bad for her partner, especially since Queen Zing probably got the Stoutland riled up in the first place, she was relieved that it was Agate that had to deal with the old coot and not her.
The gardens inside the fence were quite large - even one of them was larger than the family's Lum garden back in Ecruteak. There appeared to be a particularly large crop of Wepear and Bluk berries in one of them, a swath of Beautifly keeping them pollinated. Shalin had Queen Zing fly over the fence and land on the dirt path in the center of the four gardens, the Beedrill crawling the rest of the way to the front porch. She dismounted, pulled out the two small packages addressed here, and rang the doorbell.
Dangit. Once again he messed up. What on earth is going on? Before he was so successful, and somehow now he's not at all successful? In fact it was the reverse? He was trying to be nice too! Jasper was about to bark back in reply, like 'lookie here old timer', but Agate quickly stopped him. The last thing that he want is for the situation to escalate where Jasper barks and it becomes full on Pokemon fight. Jasper obviously not happy being stopped from barking back at his Trainer's intimidator, but considering they're not in good place to start a fight to begin with, he relented.
Thankfully, the owner of the house was out immediately.... Before saying that he's not interested in whatever Agate is selling. The boy laughed wryly at himself for that misunderstanding. "I'm sorry sir, I'm not here to sell you anything on that matter. These are mailbags. I'm just a mailman you see... Well, more like a part time mailman. I have a packet from... Let's see... Diana Mullenberg from Plum City. Does that rang any bell?"
He hope that he got the right person here! Would be bad if he didn't!
You ring and ring the doorbell. Finally a disheveled woman in pajamas, holding a screaming baby, comes to the door. She demands to know why you've interrupted naptime.
"...Diana Mullenberg?" The man's expression turns nasty. "Yeah, she's my daughter... turned her back on her whole family to run off with some city slicker guy, and now she wants to bother me? You tell her I don't want any damn thing of hers!" The old man slams the door in your face. The Stoutland growls.
Shalin was a bit surprised to see a woman in sleep clothes at this hour. It was going on late morning...then it clicked - the baby. When raising a young one, the baby's sleep schedule was also the mother's sleep schedule, whether she liked it or not. The interior of the house, from what she could see, appeared to be well-kept but not overly gaudy. "Sorry to bother you! It's just the mail service - I have a couple of deliveries for you." One was a simple letter in a white envelope, and the second was a small package. "Boy or girl?"
A curious Queen Zing faced the residents as Shalin ran her scanner across the two deliveries. "Don't mind her - she's the sweetest Beedrill you'll ever see." The bug-type raised one of her stings straight up, waving it back and forth as to say hello. "Looks like this one is certified mail - I'll need a signature." She flipped the package around so a white slip faced upward. "Right here," she pointed to the black X at the bottom. "Good luck with the little one!"
Ouch, darn. Jasper growled back at the Stoutland for that growl. He barked something like "my trainer is only doing his job so shut up, old man!" or something along that line. Agate though stopped him before he could bark more. He sighed and stamped the package "Rejected". He have no idea how would the lady felt to be rejected by her father like that... It feels... unfair. Granted, the trust is broken when she left her father for a man that he doesn't seem to approve... but what if inside of it is like an invitation to her baby shower or something?
He just can shook his head. Time to look for the next one in the list. "Let's go, Jasper. Please behave alright? I understand you're angry that he was treating me bad, but that wasn't good to get angry at him like that you know? It's part of the job... please understand, alright?"
Begrudgingly, the Arcanine walked to the next place in the mail list... Which is... which house was it? Agate checked the mailing address once more. In case of Shalin is was nearby, but what about him? Is it nearby too?
Your next destinations are rather close - right next to each other, in fact! Shalin's next stop is a little two-story house decorated painted with pink pastels, and Agate's is an identical house painted with blue pastels. The houses are practically mirrors of each other, with the same identical mailboxes and the same stone pathways and the same flowers... it's almost like something out of the Twilight Zone. Or the Shining, depending on how creepy you find this. Spooky.
These rural delivery jobs weren't so bad - if it paid enough, Shalin could do this all day! People out in the country were so much nicer than city folk. Sure, there were bad apples here or there, but it wasn't like in the city where every soul within the limits seemed to harass her for being a "country girl". If she were to settle down in Arciel, it would probably be in a small town like this.
The much faster Jasper could easily catch up to Queen Zing if he wanted to. Shalin quickly checked her route as her Beedrill stopped, hovering above an intersection with no traffic in sight. "Rome Place," she mumbled, inaudible over her yellow and black partner's buzzing. She waved her right hand in a curve to the right, indicating for Agate to turn in that direction.
About a half-mile down the country road were a pair of two-story houses that were clearly built at the same time - the properties were mirror images of each other. With gentle nudges, Shalin coaxed the bug-type to land about three-quarters of the way up the stone pathway leading to the pink abode. She dismounted and walked the rest of the way, sorting through her remaining deliveries until she found the ones for the Rome Place address. Two filled envelopes in hand, she stood to one side and rang the doorbell, her other eye on Agate and Jasper.
Something... something tells him about these two house is that they're either: 1: Identical twins with same taste of housing but different taste of colors 2: Fraternal twins that are very close to one another 3: Something of very emotionally close neighbors/family friend/whatever 4: Their landlord is one and the very same, and for some reason they make two identical houses with two colors.
Whichever it is, he have no idea, but to be honest it was quite a "??????" moment to him. He's not sure what should he feel about it, to be honest. Creepy? Errr, he have seen worse thing he guess... This is fine. Unsettling? Yeah. Very. He have no idea what Shalin felt about it considering that the lady does not even blink at the scary house back there...
"...I just hope that this time around it's nothing scary at all... I really hope so..."
Anyway, Agate stopped Jasper right in front of blue house... that's his destination. After what happened to Agate last time, the Arcanine decided that he don't want anything like that again, so despite Agate telling him to wait, he instead followed... And insisting at it. Eh well, he hope that whoever inside the house is not allergic to Arcanine or other canines! ...Or scared of them for that matter. Jasper is quite huge after all. Agate rang the doorbell in hope to catch the attention of whoever is inside, while declaring "excuse me, a mail for you!"
Thankfully both houses are very friendly and there are no hitches in delivering the mail! Looks like they're even willing to give directions to the next house... or are just lonely and very talkative. Either way, it appears the next location isn't very far away at all.

"Thanks so much!" Shalin waved to the family she had completed her delivery for before returning to Queen Zing's back. The yellow and black insect buzzed and bobbed toward Agate and Jasper. "They even gave us directions to the next house," she grinned. "People up here are so nice - way nicer than city folk!" She checked her delivery route to verify that the instructions she received were correct. While their next destination wasn't within the gated community and it wasn't quite as close as she would have liked, the directions were simple enough - head southeast out of the main gate, take the first left, then just go straight for a few miles. It was apparently a prominent home, from what the family said. "The people who live there have to be pretty rich," Shalin mentioned, "which could be very good or very bad."
Once Agate was ready, Shalin put both her earplugs back in, and Queen Zing led the way to the next delivery point. For the first time traveling between houses on the entire route, the Beedrill relaxed her arms, the stings at the end of them dangling beneath. Perhaps the rider had at last fully broken through the hunter's predatory instincts? Either way, both were in a good mood. After making the turn above the gravel road, a sharp but brief spike in Queen Zing's vibration earned a giggle from Shalin, the two picking up the pace quite a bit. She had no doubt Jasper could keep up.
Thankfully he was wrong. There are... nothing remotely concerning about them. They looked different, his client from Shalin's... so most likely they're just related probably on their grandparents or something... He didn't ask because it was rude. He just said his usual "it's a mail for you!" and handed the mail over. By the way this is his third. Sadness. He need to catch up to Shalin soon because he have more on his bag compared to her!
"Ah by the way, do you know where's..."
the kindhearted couple inside told him the route.. Hmm, so the more luxurious part of the place he see.
"I'm not sure what's wrong with city folks... I never had any problem with them... But I guess your last mail deliveries gone really bad that it happened like that huh," Agate commented. But either way, that's the least problem for the meantime. He gently patted Jasper to sign him it's alright to go right now.
...Speaking of rich guys... He... he never had good encounter with them, all thing considered. Then again he wasn't economically gifted so he might have dressed poorly which gave them the usual knee jerk response. Now, though, he's definitely more presentable and looking like a proper trainer. But either way...
"Let's catch up, Jasper. Let's hope that we'll be the best presentable way as we could alright?"
An affirmative bark from the Arcanine. Considering the splash from the stunt earlier has been dried somewhat, hopefully he's presentable enough!
The house is steadily coming to view, but Agate and Jasper are pulling ahead of Shalin and Queen Zing! The Arcanine giving his all to reach the gate a few seconds before Shalin. Ring the bell and they get greeted by a kind butler who seemed like he was patiently waiting for them.

It was no surprise to Shalin that Jasper could outrun Queen Zing with little effort - the Beedrill was designed more for agility than raw speed. Nonetheless, she made every effort to keep up with the Arcanine, shaking her wings to the point where even Shalin was starting to tire out from the stronger vibration. Jasper had made it to the next residence a little before Shalin and her unusual mount did.
"Phew!" Shalin sighed. "This is harder work than I remember it being!" The yellow Pokémon landed to rest her wings, the young woman going through her mail bag to find her delivery for this house. "Wait, 23924 Rolling Way?" Her head dropped, her body slumping from being tired as she realized her mistake. "This is 23624 Rolling Way. My next house is a few blocks down, Agate," she said with words running together. The Beedrill raised her rear sting to try to wake her rider up, which it very easily did - she just about slid out of the saddle! "Thanks," she said as she gently pat the insect's head. "Agate, we'll stay here and rest while you make your...delivery," Shalin yawned while saying that last word. "I'm gonna need a nap after this!"
