Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
To participate in the Swarm, first post in this thread looking for a Pokemon. A mod will tag you and reply with stats for one Pokemon you find, including color and possibly even evolution depending on the species. Reply again encountering and trying to capture the Pokemon. Once you succeed, do not post in the thread again.
You may only find one per character, no rerolls. This is to prevent spamming to find special Pokemon. If for any IC reason you need to encounter another, use the same stats originally rolled and pretend it's a different individual.
Pokemon in Swarms have a 20% chance of being a special coloration!
Pokemon in swarms have a +20% capture rate with any ball, and will never flee.
This swarm closes at 11:59pm site time on August 4. After that, no new encounters will be spawned. However, anyone who has an ongoing encounter that isn't yet finished has until 11:59pm on the 15th of August to finish trying to catch their encounter. After that, the thread will be locked and archived.

"Rufflet. Bzzt. The Eaglet Pokemon, A combative Pokémon, it's ready to pick a fight with anyone. But if Rufflet loses, it starts bawling. Zzt. Rufflet have recently been seen swarming out along Route 6."
Elizabeth's fancy new Rotom Phone chirped aloud currently possessed by her rotom Flick. Though generally a quiet sort, this new ability to chat via the phone seemed to bring the little electric ghost out of its shell some. The ranger listened to the phone spout off the reason the group found themselves out on route 6 today.
A nice summer stroll had been the main goal but it didn't hurt to keep an eye out for this rufflet swarm either. Though the current heat wave didn't really help though Boreas was doing his best to throw out a light bit of ice into the air with aurora veil though that wasn't really the typical use for such a move.
Cinder and Violet didn't really seem to notice the heat as the pair of rapidash were much too interested in each other, both walking in close proximity with their muzzles pressed together. The ranger had had a feeling the pair would hit it off and had been quite right. It was always nice to know her pokemon had someone special.
Overhead Nandi was lazily drifting back and forth, his large wings providing a small amount of shade for the group on the ground. Per usual, Tansy and Raya were at Liz's side, the lucario looking a touch pale from the heat though not letting on that it might be getting to her. The venusaur however was basking in the sunlight as they walked quite happy with the weather, even if it was a tad on the dry side. But hopefully finding these rufflet wouldn't take too long so they could get back inside where there was AC.

Nandi trilled and circled about as he spotted one of the sought after fowl in the grass below. The rufflet was happily snapping at bugs on the ground when he glanced up and noticed the group approaching. Boreas had taken the lead, the aurora veil drifting back over the others as he lead the way. The icy fox was certainly eye catching with his unique coloring.
The rufflet seemed to zero in on the ninetales and let out a shriek before attacking. The group was caught off guard by the sudden assault and rough claws raked across Boreas's face. Suddenly a the temperature dropped despite the current heat wave and an icy chill rolled across the field. Hail began falling from the sky beating down on the pair of fighters. Boreas's Snow Warning had kicked in when the rufflet made his first attack.
"Oh, careful now Boreas. Go for an Ice Beam."
The icy fox quickly retaliated with the burst of icy energy which knocked the rufflet back. He squawked in some indignation then jumped up and whipped up an air slash that cut across the ninetales. Fortunately Boreas was eager to lash back with Aurora Beam.
At this point the rufflet was pretty roughed up and now it seemed the little bird had realized he wouldn't be able to win this. Thus he promptly landed on the ground and burst into tear, bawling right in front of the group. Liz blinked and looked from Boreas to the crying rufflet.
"Um okay then, guess that pokedex data was pretty spot on. Good job there Boreas."
Liz shook her head as she gently tossed a pixie ball at the bawling rufflet while giving her Rotom Phone a wink.

Rufflets, they're one of Unovan bird. Apparently they're also in Galar, but even then... he really want to capture one for himself. Agate has yet to familiarize himself with this route, but thanks to some secret map, he managed to get to here in a way or another. And here he is, going to see if he could catch some Rufflets...
...by the way, he heard there might be some hint of Arcielan version of these birds... He sorta want to see them too one day... but maybe that time isn't now. As of who he brought today with him...
<Agate, are you sure you wish to bring to this place, and not more specialized Pokemons?> Ales the Gardevoir asked. <There are other who would love it if you brought them here, yet you choose me?>
"No problem, no problem~" Agate waved it off. "I'm here to befriend, not to fight. Granted, Ruri might be pouty that I decided to not bring her, but even then..."
A nod from the Gardevoir. <Very well, if that's what you want, then I will help you>. Ales the Gardevoir Lv 33 Oranguru Egg: 3/3 Arcielan Ponyta Egg: 3/3 Eevee Egg: 1/3 (Incubator)
Post by Marshall Legend on Aug 5, 2020 0:13:26 GMT
Marshall had been walking along, eating a healthy breakfast of rolled up fruit loop pancakes when he'd first spotted the swarming announcement through the department store window. He'd stood on the sidewalk in those familiar track pants and shirt, munching and crunching happily as he surveyed the information on the pokemon listed. As usual, Liv was at his side, chewing on his shoelaces while Chocolate oozed over his shoulder from behind like a runny egg. The stench of the pokemon made people give him a wide berth - which was fortunate, since he still had the mysteriously unhatched egg tucked into his side - the few that had ventured close enough eventually sidling away with barely restrained gagging noises. Neither man nor pokemon seemed to notice, and once Marshall had polished off the rest of his breakfast with a crunch, he turned to Liv who immediately hopped up on all fours and barked excitedly at him.
"Come Liv! We've got a gift to find!!"
The trio had immediately set out for the closest path leading out of Birch which, thankfully, appeared to be the right one, Liv prancing about and sniffing in bushes and along the trail for any signs of the pokemon they were looking for.

It didn't take long for Marshall to find the pokemon he'd been looking for. As the Rufflet strolled into view it was easy enough to see that it was exactly the type he'd been hoping it would be, with its feathery, colorful plumage and pointed beak. It paused for a moment when it saw the human but didn't appear to be too invested in him, and was about to continue on its way when he pointed a finger at it and called out, "Stop right there!"
Whether or not the pokemon understood him was unclear, however it did pause, turning to give him a critical look - which quickly turned into a face when it spotted and smelled Chocolate oozing off his shoulder. Liv gave an excited boof at it, hopping from foot to foot and prancing about, but neither Marshall nor the Rufflet seemed to pay her much mind.
"I've got a secret mission for you. A mission of utmost importance, once that you, and only you can undertake." The brunet began. His tone was so solemn it had the Rufflet cocking its head from side to side, though when it saw the pokeball he produced moments later it seemed to get the gist of what was happening relatively quickly. Adjusting the egg bag at his side - the contents of which were starting to shimy and shake - Marshall followed up with -
"To meet one Jedediah Legend, and to form a lasting bond of friendship and trust with him!"
Silence followed this statement. The Rufflet stared, thoroughly confused, and Marshall appeared to have struck some sort of odd pose that was just him holding the pokeball out. Was the bird supposed to capture itself? Was something supposed to pop out and attack? Something? Anything?
Marshall took the moment of confusion to toss the pokeball, and the Rufflet, still puzzling over the mysteries of his speech, was smacked in the face and consumed with a red light.

Marshall was only a little dismayed when the Rufflet burst out of the ball, giving itself a shake like it had been through a rough ordeal. It fixated him with an implacable stare, unflinching, staring down the face of its would-be captor who stared right back at it. In his satchel, the egg that Marshall was carrying jingled with movement.
Rather than be deterred, Marshall instead laughed through his nose, Liv prancing along at his feet. It was a wonder how she didn't get tangled up in his feet, but considering the brunet tended to take wide-set stances with his hands on his hips - powerstancing any and all chances he got - perhaps that wasn't so surprising.
He actually took that stance now, hands moving automatically to his hips as Liv ran to go and fetch the ball that had been escaped.
"I see now." He spoke, tone deadly serious. The Rufflet wavered, torn between running away and seeing what nonsense was about to be spewed out. Marshall slicked back his hair with one hand, then used that same hand to point at the poor Rufflet, who suddenly looked like she realized her mistake. "You're thinking to yourself 'I know exactly who this man is. There's no way I would be worthy of he, the Great Marshall Legend - the famous pokemon ranger from Kanto, THE Wunderkind, the Enigma, the Rising Star, the Single-" Chocolate chose at that moment to let out an oozy, ecstatic "GRIIIII" that drowned out the rest of Marshall's speal.
Marshall didn't take offense to this; he instead took another pose, one that resulted in him turning to his other side and pointing with his other hand. Liv dutifully stepped on all his toes as she shifted to strike up a similar powerstance and let out a mighty BOOF of authority.
"But I'll tell you now!" He announced, and the few passing trainers suddenly quickened their pace at his outburst, giving each other nervous glances and holding their noses at Chocolate's stench. "You are worthy! You're only as worthy as you feel, and regardless of your past as a criminal that left behind a home in Orre - you matter! You are valid, and I love and support you, from now until the end of my days!"
There was the pokeball again. The Rufflet didn't know what was going on. She didn't know if she wanted to be captured or not. She felt like no, if only because she was 99% sure this man was crazy. She'd never been to Orre in her life, hello???
"And thus do I extend the olive branch of friendship to you - and promise you a hale and hearty home, with a man who loves birds as much as he loves his own life!" And there the pokeball flew. It smacked the dumbfounded Rufflet on the head, and again she disappeared in a flash of light.

That seemed to have (just barely) done the trick. The ball shook once, twice, almost like the Rufflet were reconsidering whether or not it was good to stay in the ball... and then dinged with a note of finality before stilling. Liv immediately ran to retrieve it for her master, and when he reached a hand out for it she dropped it eagerly into his waiting hand before jumping on her little hind legs, standing on his feet the whole while. Marshall gave her a grateful pat on the head and a rub over her ears before he tucked the ball away and pulled out his phone to thumb a message to the intended recipient of the gift.
After hitting the send button he looked at Chocolate, who was still oozing gratefully over his shoulder. They locked eyes, Chocolate's own drooping out of his face for a moment, Marshall's vibrant and passionate and bright.
"You too, Chocolate. You too."
"GRIIII." Came the reply, and after Liv hopped off his shoes he was free to head back to the city proper; the egg in his pack was trembling and shaking, and as he neared the city gates he heard it crack as the pokemon within emerged into the world.
