Rules of the Park
Welcome to the Sanctuary! Opened Sept 29, 2020, the park is dedicated to providing a home for all Pokemon that trainers no longer feel they can adequately care for. The Pokemon are fed and tended regularly, giving them the space and feeling of being in the wild and the attention and care of being trainer-owned. If you're here, you're probably either looking to donate a Pokemon to the park, visit one you've donated, or you're a new trainer hoping to take one of our residents home. So let's get into a few rules for everything!

Donating Pokemon
- If you would like to donate a Pokemon, simply post all of its information below along with where/how it was obtained (Journey, gacha, etc) in this thread. You do not need to provide a link as proof, but do double check if you aren't sure you remember.
- For every two Pokemon you caught (in Journeys, Swarms, or Discoveries) that you donate, you will receive 1 OOC Gem. For every four Pokemon obtained through breeding or gachas, you will receive 1 OOC Gem. Pokemon obtained via Wonder Trade count as whatever the original trade seed was. Your donations will be tracked, so you do not need to donate 2 or 4 at once every time, and will be rewarded whenever you cross a threshold.
- You must have owned a Pokemon for at least one month before donating it. We want to be sure all our residents are properly socialized, and that you've given the relationship a good chance to work first!
- You may only receive Gems for donating up to 8 total Pokemon per player per month. If you really want to donate more (for instance, maybe you're archiving a character you don't think you'll bring back later, etc), you can do so for no reward, but still must have owned them at least one month first.
- Special Note: For Pokemon obtained before Sept 29, 2020, the month requirement is waived, and the limit for Gem rewards is doubled, meaning you can donate up to 16 per month, but only if the Pokemon donated that round were caught before the cut-off. They effectively count 2-for-1, so for instance you could donate 10 pre-cutoff Pokemon as effectively 'five slots' and still have three slots for recently caught Pokemon, etc. This is to both help alleviate overpopulated PCs from before the park was invented more easily and to build an initial stock for the park more quickly.
Buying Back Pokemon
- If you regret giving up a Pokemon, you may buy it back for 1 OOC Gem. The price is the same regardless of which donation category it was. There is no time limit to buy back Pokemon, but be warned they may sometimes be caught by other trainers and leave the park that way.
Visiting Pokemon
- If you would like to visit one or more Pokemon, simply post an in-character thread in this board. Note that in order to prevent earning money from donating, earning Pen is turned off in this board, so there's no major incentive to RP here, but you can if you want to.
- You may visit Pokemon you have donated or any other Pokemon in the park. You may control any Pokemon in the park, but stick to any personality notes if they have any. If two or more characters are visiting together (for example, Character A is introducing Character B to their old friend Squirtle, either just because or to see if Character B and Squirtle might get along and want to partner up), they can either take turns controling any Pokemon or stick to one person in charge per 'mon.
Capturing Pokemon
- There are two ways to be allowed to catch Pokemon from the park. You must either be a new trainer-- that is, one with 10 or less total Pokemon-- or you must have the blessing of the donor.
- For new trainers, simply make a thread within this board looking around, and Mod Call. A mod will randomly generate one or more of the Pokemon currently living in the park. You may keep looking until you find what you want, but may not request specific Pokemon be spawned, as you are effectively just wandering around searching ICly.
- For those with the donor's blessing, you may either come with the donor or alone (though with is encouraged) to meet the Pokemon that was donated. You may find specific Pokemon right away this way. Make a thread in this board and Mod Call, letting the Mod know which Pokemon you'd like spawned. As for why it needs spawned when you know what you're getting, see the Important Note at the bottom of this section.
- All Pokemon caught here are via befriending only; no battling is allowed in the park. For new trainers and those who come solo, this will work like a normal friendship capture, but with only a 25% chance to flee after each failed attempt due to the Pokemon being already tame. PokeBalls can still fail and break as normal.
If a trainer with the donor's blessing comes with the donor, mods will not roll capture chance as usual. Instead, they will pass or fail an attempt to catch based on how you've RPed befriending the Pokemon. This is basically a 100% capture chance since they know their old friend approves of you, as long as you put in a fair amount of effort. If you just say "hey buddy wanna come with me? Here have a berry" and don't really elaborate further, the Pokemon may not be convinced, but with a bit of proper time invested they'll be eager to join you. Tell them about yourself, your goals and dreams, introduce your team, etc! You don't have to do all these things every time, these are just suggestions to help give you ideas. - You may only capture up to 2 Pokemon per character per month from the park. There is no fee to catch them. (You may not catch a Pokemon you yourself donated, though; you have to buy it back properly.)
- Important Note: Due to a strange side effect of how complacent Pokemon can become in the park, it has been observed that they will sometimes lose levels and forget moves. Because they can still spar with each other, sometimes they will also gain them back, meaning levels within the park may fluctuate wildly.
Basically, if your level range is lower than the Pokemon's level was when it was donated, it will be spawned within your average level range (+/-5 like wild Pokemon), not exceeding their level when donated. However, let's say Herdier was Level 31 when he was donated. Just because he was spawned at Level 22 for one trainer doesn't mean he can't still be spawned up to 31 for another if the first trainer passes on him. Pokemon scaled down this way will lose level-up moves they are no longer eligible for and replace them with ones they are, but will retain any Egg Moves, TMs, or Tutor Moves they'd been taught always.
Finally, Pokemon can also be spawned as underleveled evolutions in this way. For example, if a brand new trainer with one Lv5 starter finds our example Herdier, he will be Level 1-10, but will still be evolved.
