An armful of leaves showered over Cricket's Ponyta as Cricket themself threw them. A lot of them burned to a crisp on Ponyta's mane and tail, but some of them were intact and twirled back to the ground. The little horse gave a whinny of joy and turned around to kick leaves up at her trainer in turn. Cricket laughed, running away from the kicked-up leaves and tripping, falling safely right into another leaf pile. The route was covered in leaves, and though the pair had started walking earlier this day to try to head to the next town, their mischievous nature meant that Cricket couldn't help but start a leaf fight with their Pokemon, and Ponyta was naturally inclined to join in.
She ran over to check on her trainer, face-down in a leaf pile, but was met with a faceful of leaves as Cricket tossed more leaves into the Pokemon's face. She whinnied in laughter and chased again. Unfortunately, this meant the pair left the path, and had wandered off into the wilderness, and when Cricket slowed down as they were tired out from running around, they realized that the path was gone and they had no idea even which direction to go in. Cricket looked around, then stood on her tip-toes and looked around again, then hopped up onto a low tree branch and looked, then turned to their Ponyta and gave a shrug.
"Well, hopefully it's not too cold for you, huh? You'll keep me warm though, won't you?" Ponyta danced away from Cricket, as if trying to keep her fire from warming her trainer, and Cricket laughed and chased her a ways again, getting them even more lost. They found themselves in an oak thicket, where the leaves were mostly gone so the trees were almost bare, but the ground was thick with fallen leaves and the brambles formed a barrier around them. "I guess.. we should go this way?" Cricket led the way through the thinnest part of the brambles, unsnagging themself from the thorns as they went. Ponyta followed behind, careful not to set fire to the plants.
As you and your Pokemon make your way through the brambles, Fletchling appear to be watching you. They don't appear happy to see a human and move along with you, more and more gathering. Do you try to scare them off or try to ignore them?

Cricket spotted the crowd of Fletchling watching them and smiled. "Oh, we didn't have Fletchling back home! Hi there, little birds!" Ponyta greeted the Fletchling as well, dipping her head to them. They all looked at each other, confused, and carefully crowded a bit closer as Cricket dug through their bag and produced a small bag of plain, uncooked oats.
"I never leave home without these, lots of Pokemon love them!" She patted Ponyta's head as she fed her a handful on a flat palm, then wiped the slobber from Ponyta's tongue from her hand and grabbed another handful, offering it to the Fletchling flock. "Don't worry, I won't hurt you. Ponyta won't either! Unless you want to battle, but that's not necessary!"
The birds perk up a bit at your offer of food. A few of them hop into others, starting to cause a little ruckus within the flock. They are hesitant to approach, though, and all freeze when some underbrush rustles nearby.

Ponyta noticed the shaking in the underbrush before Cricket did, giving her a nudge with her head and nodding towards the bushes. Cricket saw and stayed silent, nudging Ponyta in that direction. The horse shot a look at Cricket, like 'why do I gotta go check it out?', who shot a pouting glare back, saying 'Because you're a Pokemon and I'm a delicate human!', and Ponyta rolled her eyes a bit but moved toward the bushes, sticking in her nose to sniff for danger.
Cricket had lost most of her interest in the birds, but seeing that they were indeed interested in the oats, she scattered them on the ground near where most of them were flocked, hoping whatever was in the brush didn't scare them all away but too curious about it to give up letting Ponyta investigate.
The oats being spread causes a few of the birds to hop, getting antsy but still focused on the bush. However, the oats mixed with the Ponyta sticking her nose into the bushes does cause something else to happen. A Pokemon dashes out the try snatching up some of the oats. They're not a very good meal for a Tyrogue, but the thing looks hungry and it quickly becomes apparent why it would be so eager for any sort of meal. The birds swarm the baby Pokemon, causing it to screech in distress before trying to return to the bushes to hide.

"Oh, oh gosh.." Cricket wasn't sure what to do, and waffled for a moment between leaving it alone and continuing to try to feed the birds, and going into the bushes to get the Pokemon, and decided to go with the latter option. She rushed over to the brush next to Ponyta and reached in, trying to get the Tyrogue, and felt a skinny little body, pulling it out and into her arms.
"You poor thing! Are you okay?" She was holding the Pokemon like a baby, concern written all over her face. Ponyta nosed at it, looking for injuries. Hopefully the birds would leave it alone with her holding it, but if not, she did have Ponyta. She wondered if there was any more substantial food nearby she could get for the Pokemon, like some berries or something, as she didn't have anything but oats on her right now.
The Tyrogue is a little nervous, but doesn't resist being held. She seems much more terrified of the Fletchling flock. For good reason, too, it seems. All the birds start squawking, apparently very upset that you would defend an invader! The Tyrogue curls more against you, apparently having dealt with their abuse for a while.

Cricket decided to take the Tyrogue away from the area. "Fletchlings, that's not okay, you shouldn't bully other Pokemon! This one's just a little baby!" Cricket scolded as she walked away from the flock. She and Ponyta trotted side by side.
"It's okay little guy, you're safe with me. Let's try to find you some food, huh?" Cricket and Ponyta started browsing through the brush, looking for any kind of fruit or edible leaves or something more substantial than oats for the poor Tyrogue. In the meantime, Cricket did give the skinny baby another handful of oats.
The birds seem very agitated and even start following after you. The Tyrogue is grateful for even the small bit of oats and eats as easily as she can. The Fletchling continue following you, but so far keep to the trees.

You don't seem to come across any foods for the poor thing, either. It seems most everything has been picked clean by the other Pokemon, most likely the flock that is still stalking you.

Agitated by being followed by the Fletchling flock, Ponyta started to kick at them with her back legs, and when the birds got closer still and dodged her kicks, Ponyta turned and blew an Ember at them, trying to scare them off. When that also didn't seem to work, Ponyta began to push a mildly startled Cricket forward with her head, dancing her hooves about nervously. She didn't like the way the birds were sticking to them so hard, and wanted to keep her trainer and the Pokemon they were trying to help safe.
Cricket nodded, realizing that Ponyta was urging her to move, and fast. She wished she wasn't too heavy to ride on her Pokemon's back, but unfortunately she was just too big for that. She wondered how she could get away fast; could she climb a tree, maybe? She quickly realized no, that's a terrible idea since the Fletchling could easily follow her up a tree. And Ponyta couldn't climb, either. And she was carrying a Pokemon in her arms, so it wasn't going to be easy to climb anything. She realized that she was in a bit of a pickle, but just wasn't sure what to do to get out of it, and was beginning to panic a bit.
Ponyta realized her trainer was beginning to panic and freak out and decided to take matters into her own hooves; she rushed Cricket forward, away from the Fletchling for a few moments so she could nudge at the Tyrogue. She nervously watched the birds approach, trying to convey to Cricket that she could carry the Pokemon on her back, and finally Cricket figured that out and placed the Tyrogue gently on Ponyta's back. Fast, nervous Ponyta was able to run pretty quickly ahead, nudging Cricket's bag before she went to let her know to release another Pokemon for protection.
Watching Ponyta go, the Tyrogue clinging tightly with her knees and hanging on to her neck for dear life as they fled, Cricket quickly dug into her bag as the first Fletchling reached her feet, dropping a Poke Ball to release her huge black Pidgey. He almost seemed to shake the ground a bit as he appeared, and he quickly realized what was happening and spread his wings, giving a fierce call at the Fletchling flock in the hopes to intimidate them.
Cricket had gone just about fully non-verbal in panic and watched silently, nervously, hoping that Ponyta and Tyrogue were safe. Ponyta, meanwhile, was trying to find a spot to hide both of them somewhere just ahead.
Although they weren't too concerned with Ponyta's attempts to scare them off, Pidgey's display is enough to scare off the smaller birds. The Fletchling scatter, with only a few brave scragglers staying perched in branches a safe distance away. The Tyrogue, though somewhat weak, manages to keep hold of Ponyta and eventually taps her shoulder and points off to the side, toward a hill with a steep incline. Steep enough that there is a hidden entrance behind a boulder. The entrance is tight for Ponyta, but big enough that she could get in there with some shuffling along on her stomach.

With little hesitation, save turning to look back and hoping her trainer was alright, Ponyta crouched down, inching forward into the hidden area that the little Tyrogue ahead of her had pointed out. She had let the weak, skinny Pokemon go in first, just in case she got stuck and the Fletchling found them; the Tyrogue would be safer inside and away from the birds.
Meanwhile, Cricket had calmed her heart rate a bit and was breathing deep to keep her anxiety levels down a bit more. "You guys are bullies, you know that? Why would you pick on such a defenseless little thing? That poor Tyrogue was even weak to Flying attacks, and you all were so mean!" She called out into the trees, shaming the Fletchling flock that remained. Pidgey, though huge, was still small enough to perch on his trainer's shoulder, and he did so, hopefully warding off any stragglers as they moved forward, following what Cricket hoped was Ponyta's trail.
The Tyrogue settles into the little cranny, safe and grateful with the Ponyta blocking the entrance. Ponyta doesn't seem to get stuck, at least, and the wild Pokemon heaves a sigh of relief. The Fletchling decide that the human and her Pokemon are no longer interesting enough--humans never stay long, after all, so she won't be invading--and all scatter off with you yelling at them.
Once Cricket finds them, the little female fighter gives a small smile to Ponyta, silently thanking them for the protection but not expecting you to help any further.
ooc; I'm so sorry for making you wait, Kit! Thank you for your patience!
