[attr="class","shea"] Shea was feeling incredibly cute. They'd decided to dress as an Audino for the party, with some stylistic liberties of course. Their hair was braided as normal, but they wore a pink mask that stretched around and attached to a big pair of plush fluffy Audino ears atop their head. They'd opted not to bind, and had a pink long-sleeve coat that hugged their figure and, unlike Audino's coat pattern (which was 'open'), came together to button just below their breasts, flaring open above and below to show their cleavage and belly. Long coat tails were cut in the rounded shapes of Audino's pattern. They wore no shirt beneath it, and wore khaki pants with simple comfortable tennis shoes. A big puffy white tail was clipped to their pants, the bottom of the jacket splitting just above it. The tail was attached tight enough it wouldn't come off, but just loose enough that if they wiggled their rear it would 'wag' a bit.
So yes! Shea was the cutest bunny at the ball! Even if they were also the only bunny they'd seen so far, hehe. As excited as they were to dance, though, their curiosity toward the maze outweighed that desire right now, and they headed up the stairs with their Honedge, Knightly, following close behind.
Hmmm... They were pretty excited to go in, but now that they thought about it, they might have better odds of getting through with a partner who could help them figure out any puzzles, huh? Heading back to the stairs, they yelled down toward the ballroom with their hands cupped around their mouth, "HEY! Anyone thinking about doing the maze!?"
The ball wasn't what she'd hoped it'd be, not by a longshot- her night had been crazy, and she didn't know where to even begin comprehending it, where to begin? So instead she found herself downing drinks at the bar and forcing herself out on the dancefloor, mingling with strangers, ignoring their trip-ups and their less than adequate dance moves- trying to ignore the stares from people who she gave her identity away from at the bathroom- dancing, weaving, moving person to person as gracefully as she could. She just wanted to forget, she wanted her night to be okay, for everything to just... be forgotten and for her to enjoy herself without thinking.
Was that too much to ask?
Donning her Gardevoir outfit, fresh with dyed hair and high heels, she found herself with a strange dance partner, big, bulky, and much, much too handsy for her liking- and no amount of bobbing and weaving and attempts to change partners would get them to leave her alone. It was frustrating, and truthfully she didn't know how much more she could cope with this without breaking down entirely- until a voice broke out onto the dancefloor.
The maze?! That.. that could work- that could get her away from all the strangers, and she could just focus on the room around her and do puzzles- it'd be like dancing but- not surrounded by strangers, only with one. Her gaze flicked around, attempting to find the source of the voice, her eyes meeting the form of... an audino? That was actually kind of cute- okay- she could work with this!
"Uh- me!" Her voice broke out of the crowd, startling the person who'd been attempting to grab onto her hip once again, and she managed to push herself out the crowd, grabbing her pants in the process to make sure they didn't slide along the ground as she rushed up the stairs, towards the stranger, using one hand to adjust her mask while the other moved through her pocket, as if checking if she had a pokeball on her- and once she made sure she did she glanced up at the pink stranger, a smile twitching on her lips.
"I- er- wouldn't mind doing a maze, especially with somebody as cute as you!"
[attr="class","shea"] Shea really hoped someone took them up on the offer, though they wouldn't be heartbroken if they had to do it alone. Fortunately, a voice quickly answered back, and a cutie dressed as a Gardevoir came rushing up the stairs. Oh, sweet! They grinned wide as she complimented them, as well. "Why thank you, Miss Gardevoir~ You're looking rather radiant yourself!" They bowed to her, and offered a hand. "Shall I escort you then, m'lady~?" A moment later, they giggled, clearly finding the whole formality rather silly.
The sound of a sword briefly unsheathing and resheathing itself caught Shea's ear. "Oh! How rude of me. This is my friend, Knightly~" they introduced the recently-caught Honedge. "And you can simply call me Audino for this evening. No miss or mister, if you please." They smiled confidently. "But yes, as I was saying, shall we~?"
You enter a room lit by a single torch in its center. Six candles line the walls. On the left wall is a green, a red, and a purple candle. On the right wall is a yellow, an orange, and a blue. Each candle is also labeled for the colorblind. A backlit plaque reads: "Do not fear the storm. It comes after."
Special note: Staff characters must roll a special die and get 30 or higher for their character to figure out the puzzle, since they know the answer. Remove this if no one is staff.

Shea Briar Rose (i should never be allowed to do puzzles asdfgh)
Arietta couldn't help but grin at the strangers antics as she took their hand in her own. "Lead the way~" she rang out- perhaps this was a good choice, to ditch the dance floor and all the weirdos to come up here for the maze? It as least seemed as much. As the stranger introduced their partner a Honedge called Knightly Arietta giggled,
"Pleasure to meet you, Knightly~" she shifted slightly, moving her free hand to grab at her pokeball before releasing her Totodile, "This here is Sonore, he's a little protective but he means the best." there was a laugh to her voice, before she turned back to the Audino. "And yeah, of course- let's go ahead, Audino~"
The two and their partners went forth into the maze, and instantly Arietta felt on edge, the room was dark and only lit by a center torch. "Oh, this is spooky~" her voice broke through the eerieness and she moved to look around the room, taking in the strange coloured candles and the plague. Arietta, truly, was lost. "Uhm..." She blinked, "So... something about... a storm coming after?"
She furrowed her eyes, attempting to think, "A rainbow? But, doesn't that come... after a storm?" She moved around the room, squinting at the candles, confused, "Oh- a calm comes before a storm, right? But then- what do we do with the candles? I'm... i'm really confused."
She glanced to the Audino, "Maybe we need to, like, arrange the torches in calm vs warm colours against the wall? Have you got any idea, darling Audino?"
[attr="class","shea"] "Pleasure to meet you, Sonore~" they greeted. Shea headed inside with Miss Gardevoir, and read the plaque. Huh... Her first guess made sense to Shea, but then she second guessed it, and they found themself confused as well about the wording of the riddle. She came up with another suggestion. "It's... not "calm" and warm, it's "cool" and warm. But is the "it" in "it comes after" referring to the storm, or is it saying the answer comes after the storm??" Aaaauuuuuggghhhhh their brain was boggled now. "I could see it either way. Why didn't they word these things more clearly?" They huffed.
"It's only the first puzzle and I'm already stumped. Let's do whatever you think is best, okay?" Please get it right, Miss Gardevoir. They'd hate to get kicked out on the very first room. TT__TT
Oh, Arietta is completely and utterly lost, and the Audino's words only confused her further. A soft sigh left her lips and she attempted a tight smile- right- she has to... try her best, right? "I'll try do something, i'm not sure if it'll work but- we can only hope, right?" She attempted to sound hopeful, and took a stride towards the torch in the center, picking it up and looking around once more.
"...If we think about the saying, the... calm comes after the storm- maybe... the storm is the warm colours, and the calm is the uh... cool colours?" she hesitated for a moment... surely it was different and there was another way? Her eyes were downcast for a moment, she didn't wanna ruin this- but there's a reason she pursued dancing and singing and not something educational.
She moved first around the room to light up the warm colours, yellow, orange and red. And waited a beat to see if anything happened, if not, she'd then move to light up the cool colours blue, purple and green. She waited for a few moments, confused, not knowing if it'd even work, before returning the torch to it's spot.
The door lights up red for a moment and buzzes. From out of the shadows, a horde of Lampent and Chandelure come flying in, swirling about and screaming. Everything goes dark, and flames surround you on all sides, closing in. Finally, they stop, and the next moment you are back outside the entrance. You have been ejected.
[attr="class","shea"] Shea watched nervously as Miss Gardevoir arranged the candles. They still didn't have a good feeling about this guess, but they had no guesses of their own, so what could they do?
Suddenly, fire was everywhere, and Shea's heart was racing. Just before the flames could reach their skin, though, everything was calm again... except they were outside. "Ah fuck," they spat. They huffed a moment, but then forced a slightly bitter but also fairly genuine laugh. "Guess we both suck at puzzles, huh?" They sighed, disappointed, but figuring there was no sense dwelling on it now. "I guess... wanna go downstairs and dance instead? If not it's cool."
Arietta was sure she'd done the right thing- well- until the flames shot out- Arietta let out a startled squeak and barely had time to stumble backwards until everything was clear. Her hands clutched desperately at her chest as her eyes flicked around, surveying the area she was in before she let out a loud sigh- at the Audino's curse she startled, letting out a few giggles of her own. "Ugh, yeah- fuck indeed." She shook her head a few times before pushing her hand through her hair.
"Yeah... Sorry, i'm not too good at puzzles, there's a reason I didn't go on to study in university." She attempted a smile and moved to check on Aumia and see if she was alright, said pokemon letting out a few soft squeaks as if to confirm she was infact doing pretty good, actually! Relief flooded Arietta's system.
As the Audino mentioned dancing, Arietta nodded- that would be fine. She just... hoped she didn't run into anymore of her unfortunate exes around. Dancing would be fun- maybe- hopefully. Especially since she was a few shots down- maybe she could enjoy herself more!
"Nono, i'm cool with dancing downstairs!" There was a twinkle in her eyes, "I've gotta warn you, though, I might just sweep you of your feet~ i'm a farily good dancer~" a hand was offered to the Audino now, a tilt in her head.
