Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
To participate in the Swarm, first post in this thread looking for a Pokemon. A mod will tag you and reply with stats for one Pokemon you find, including color and possibly even evolution depending on the species. Reply again encountering and trying to capture the Pokemon. Once you succeed, do not post in the thread again.
You may only find one per character, no rerolls. This is to prevent spamming to find special Pokemon. If for any IC reason you need to encounter another, use the same stats originally rolled and pretend it's a different individual.
Pokemon in Swarms have a 20% chance of being a special coloration!
Pokemon in swarms have a +20% capture rate with any ball, and will never flee.
Swarms close at 11:59pm on the last day of each month. After that, no new encounters will be spawned. However, anyone who has an ongoing encounter that isn't yet finished has until 11:59pm on the 15th of the following month to finish trying to catch their encounter. After that, the thread will be locked and archived.
Gabe had never heard of Toxel until seeing a swarm occurring out just beyond Bass. This wasn’t really all that surprising considering just how many Pokemon were in the Pokemon world, but now that he had— he had to have it. It was supposedly purple, and its electric nature would keep Water types away from his Fire Pokemon. Sure, he had others including an Eelektrik, but that didn’t stop him from hunting one down.
Walking out along route 2, he kept his eyes out for any signs of the swarm. Damn it was getting cold, though, and he kind of wished he had worn more clothing when going out. A thought for later. For now, he’d put up with it as long as possible. At least until he found one.
What stepped out from behind a snow covered three was most certainly not a Toxel, but it was purple and immediately caught Gabe’s eye as such. “Wait, what—“ The Pokemon eyed him cautiously, giving Gabe more than a moment to actually process what it was. “Toxtricity…” Its evolution, but weren’t they normally yellow? Maybe they form changed or something?
Either way, he wasn’t going to let an evolved Pokemon slip through his grasp. “Candle, mind confusing it?” he ask-ordered. The Litwick on his shoulder smiled briefly before raising both tiny arms and making a few strange gestures. A cloud of power seemed to spew forth hitting the Toxtricity and causing it to sway confusedly. With the world suddenly spinning, the Toxtricity swayed and released a Discharge. Lightning sparked from his head, jumped upwards, and flashed down in a blink of an eye. A cry escaped from Candle as he was struck. A yelp escaped from Gabe as he was shocked for being under the Litwick. Tripping back, staggering, and then falling right into a tree, Gabe grimaced. Candle whined. That thing… was dangerous as hell.
Well damn that thing was powerful, wasn’t it? Ugh. “You ok?” he asked. Candle grumbled but was indeed ok. “Ok, start with Inferno.” The Litwick was more than pleased to unleash burst of flames in retaliation for that little stunt. The Toxtricity yelped and stumbled and cringed as a burn was imbedded in him. He released a Boomburst instead— which quickly blew through an unaffected Candle right after. Gabe winced, clasping his hands over his ears, but he was focused then. “Now Hex!” Ahhhh ok. The Ghost was understanding now and released the attack as asked. The dark aura of the attack grew and then swamped the Toxtricity. Sure enough, it only grew stronger with the burn. The Toxtricity realed and screamed.
Gabe saw the moment, fished out a Pokeball and tossed it.

Magnolia heard rumors of a rare Pokemon appearing along Route 2. The Pokemon, Toxel, was supposedly of a very rare type combination: Poison and Electric. She wasn't fond of either type, generally, but the rare Pokemon could be an asset for contests, or even for collecting Pokemon that could help her in contests by paralyzing or poisoning potential teammates. She wanted to at least see these Pokemon for herself, and so she came to Route 2 to search.
She glided along, occasionally hitting patches of ice in her heeled boots and sliding forward faster than she would normally be able to step. It was very impressive to watch; a woman with heels in a fluffy fur coat and a huge, frou-frou hat just sliding along the icy path like it was nothing. She was extremely graceful, like she was made for the ice. Alongside her, a Snubbull, Mab, ran along, also sliding on the ice patches, but on her belly instead, having a grand old time.
After having arrived in Cedar the previous evening, Akane had taken much of the morning to heal her pokemon and get a feel for the new city. The seaside town was much different than anything she'd seen in Johto - though granted, she'd not been much of a traveler to start with. It took her a while to get used to walking on the over-water piers, the sound of the ocean, and the general feel of being practically on top of the sea. Though she hadn't intended to go far, Akane walked out to the entrance of route 2 just for the sake of scouting out the route ahead, and getting some solid ground under her feet. [break][break] Much of the scenery was the same as what she'd seen on route 1. A bit of beach, some rolling hills, a few scattered trees....further out, there seemed like there were more houses scattered about, but that was the only real difference she could see. She could probably expect much of the same variety of pokemon....and she wasn't sure about whether to consider that a good thing or not. She'd really have to consider getting a bike somehow, to make travel easier. Akane walked further out, thoughtful and introspective, entirely unaware of the swarm of Toxel that milled just a bit further along the trail.
Akane continued on just a little further, curious when she heard a commotion in the tall grass just beyond her line of sight. She stepped off the path - only to look around in immediate confusion. There were Toxel....literally everywhere. She wasn't terribly familiar with the Galar 'mon, but she knew enough to recognize them, at the very least. She recognized lots of them, pinpointing the advent of a swarm. She blinked. The baby pokemon were waddling around in a way that most people would probably consider 'cute', but Akane just found mildly interesting - especially when she noticed that a few of the electric types were oddly colored. [break][break] One in particular was nearby, yawning widely. Akane wasn't much of a collector, but she couldn't pass up an opportunity to collect an interesting specimen. Did the odd coloration effect its growth rate? Would it learn different moves? That wasn't the case of a shiny pokemon, but perhaps the same rules did not apply in this case. At the very least, Akane was unable to put aside her old research habits entirely, and she found herself reaching into her bag for a pokeball. With a neat underhand throw, the trainer tossed the ball towards the pale, wandering Toxel. [break][break] [throwing a Nest Ball]

As Magnolia moved around, Mab scurrying along with her, she spotted a purple blur behind a snow drift. The blur moved between drifts, trying to remain hidden but failing miserably with its bright coloration against the white landscape. Another advantage to Winter, Magnolia thought as she came to a sliding halt. Mab didn't realize her trainer was stopping and slid along the ice just a little too hard, tripping forward and landing face-first into a snow bank. Magnolia chuckled at her Pokemon, who popped her head out and shook it, giving her trainer a dopey grin.
"Are you okay, Mab?" Magnolia asked, but her eyes were on the purple Pokemon she could still see lurking behind the snow. The Pokemon decided to investigate the pink Snubbull and her trainer, and came closer, still trying to hide. Magnolia tried to look like she wasn't watching the Toxel approach as she helped Mab up with her telekinesis.
"You should be more careful, Mab. Snow is beautiful, but it can be dangerous too." Closer, just a little closer, and.. "Mab, use Scary Face." It took the Snubbull a moment to locate her target, but she spotted the bright purple Toxel and gave it an awful glare, causing it to slow down and hesitate. "Now, use Tackle."
Mab slammed into the Toxel, knocking it away and causing it to cry out. It fought back, using Nuzzle to Paralyze Mab, but Mab was able to Tackle the Pokemon again before it drew away. Magnolia picked up a Poke Ball from her bag and tossed it at the wild Toxel with her powers, a faint icy blue glow surrounding the ball before she released it into the air.
Marley looked around as he stalked through Route 2. Toxel. Of all the things to encounter here, he had certainly not expected Toxel. Another little piece of home. Toll was hovering behind him as he looked around, Toxel was an electric poison type, right? With poison being weak and inaffective against steel, and weak against psychic, it only made sense for him to bring the Bronzor with him. Now, he just needed to find one.
Marley had almost tripped over the Toxel when he walked through the bushes, though he managed to catch himself just in time. Thank goodness to, since the static coming off of that little thing would probably shock him badly. He jumped back to give some distance between them, before pointing at the little lizard. "Alrighty, let's do this! Toll, hit 'em with a..." He paused, upon seeing the sad little look on the lizard's face. After all, it had been so lonely, and the first person it saw was now trying to attack him.
Marley couldn't do anything to that little face. He wasn't made of stone. He let out a small sigh. "Toll, use Hypnosis will ya?" The floating steel type nodded, before psychic waves came off of it. The little Toxel gave a cute yawn, before curling up on the floor, asleep. Once he was sure the little guy was out, Marley approached him. He crouched down in front of him. He couldn't help but chuckle. "Sweet dreams ya cute little puker," he said, before tapping him with a pokeball.
Social media was a good friend. Poison electric lizard baby? Yes, please. Greer wanted one of these babies and so she set out to Route 2 (thank you, Chanceux) and went on the search for one of these darling little beasties. Rabbie was on her shoulder, as per usual, and an egg was safely wrapped and secured to her waist. Giving a gentle pat to the egg, she went about tracking down a Toxel. She'd read that they were here on Route 2, but she wasn't familiar on the exact where so she was just searching everywhere and anywhere she could think a baby Pokemon might be.
Here he was, fresh off of one swarm and into another. Once he finished with the snom swarm, he decided to book it back into Birch City to drop off the freshly caught pokemon into his storage. Want to avoid any other swarms all together, he got a ride to Cedar through Route 1 and planned to travel Bass City, for real this time.
His intentions were cut short, by yet another swarm. This one had strange pokemon, and a lot of them. In a panic, he called his mom. She helped him identify the pokemon he was facing, and she even recommended catching one to finish off his team. He was, like usual, against it. He had enough as is. But no, he was apparently very wrong. And so here he was, releasing LS from her pokeball in preperation.
After managing to get his mom off the phone, he got out LS. Between him catching her, he got his mom's help (again) to evolve her up. They argued about how it's rude to name a pokemon "Little Sh-t," and how Tau believed it was an accurate name. She eventually gave up, and started calling the milotic LS for short, or "Elles" as his mom insisted on mispronouncing it.
"LS, you're more then capable of taking one of these down." Tau ordered, "Once we pick a target, we'll battle it." He said simply. LS made a sound in agreement, and started searching for a target in the swarm.
