Heh sore spot… That smile was fake even by non-psychic con-artist standards, and Gabe was sure even a “normal” person would have noticed something wrong. Still, the words that followed had a sort of ominous assurance to them. “I see, interesting,” was the simple answer back.

The question posed to him was simple enough and harmless enough on his own. Gabe shrugged and nodded. “Sometimes,” was the relaxed answer. The follow up question had him thinking a little deeper. What was the strangest or, in Wren’s words, wackiest thing he had ever witnessed while out watching? “I’d have to give it to the impromptu proposal I saw one time. A guy proposed to his…. girl….friend? Anyways, it was with a 25cent pen ring from a gumball machine and they said yes on the spot.” He snickered softly on remembering that clearer now. “There was also a time I saw three children in a trench coat trying to buy candy with those fake pen you get from monopoly sets. The cashier didn’t humor them, though. Any fun stories of people watching?” He returned the question.

Wren simply hummed at the response they received back, focusing more on petting MJ than Gabe in that moment. There were any number of things they would much rather do besides talk about mother. The bitch could die for all Wren cared and they wouldn't feel any remorse whatsoever. Of course the question that came after was meant to take the attention off of them and it worked. The situations Gabe described thereafter had Wren laughing quite a bit. Proposing with a gumball machine ring? Who even came up with such a thing? Then the children with the Monopoly Pen? Oh, yes, that was rich.

The return of the question had Wren humming, looking down at MJ thoughtfully. "What do you think dear~? Do you have any stories~?" Wren asked the Growlithe-Ditto who only barked back in return, eliciting another laugh from Wren. "A more recent story would be a random snowball fight that broke out between two different stores across the street from each other. It lasted... I want to say a half hour or more? More people got hit and would end up joining in. Cars were getting pelted and it was just... something else," they continued, shaking their head at the memory.

"When I was on vacation some time ago with Mother and my step-father, I saw a couple at the reception desk. The guy was acting like they were an old couple but the girl? I don't think she was impressed. There might've been a knife too?" Wren laughed at that and shrugged. That one had been a while ago and the details weren't very clear, "My questions~. Hmm, how about what job would you be terrible at?"

A snowball fight? A small half-laugh escaped from Gabe. “Sounds like fun,” he chuckled softly back. Or at least fun for a little bit. Snow wasn’t always great. “Wonder if they did it for publicity or it just worked out that way.” Either way. The second instance had Gabe’s brows furrowing. He didn’t quite follow but assumed it was one of those ‘you had to be there’ sort of things, probably.

Hmmmm. Yes, Wren was the one asking all the questions now weren’t they? Even if Gabe reflecting those questions back might have counted for ‘his’ question. Not like it mattered either way. Instead, he considered what job he would be terrible a— “Being an idol, probably,” he laughed. “Don’t think I could handle being up in front of crowds being asked to put on a cutsie act all the time.” Harriet who had since gone back over to the couch in the living room, shifted up and looked over briefly. Ah, Gabe.

Wren laughed a little in turn at Gabe's comment about the snowball fight, "I don't think it was planned, no. It did make the cold a little fun I suppose~," they continued, humming a little before going on to ask a question of their own. They didn't mind controlling the questions, even if that had been more or less accidental. It wasn't their fault that Gabe kept returning their questions and thereby using his question.

The next question they asked was just for fun, something to get the focus off of them for the time being. So far it had been working, but for how long, they didn't really know. Wren raised an eyebrow at the immediate response of being an idol. That was interesting. Not a job that they would've picked right off the bat either, but all the same an interesting job. "An idol?" Wren mused, grinning a little, "I don't know~, you look like you could look pretty cute if you wanted to~," they continued, humming a little, "I don't see the appeal of being in the spotlight all the time. I value my privacy, for starters~."

Gabe snorted. “Why thank you,” he smiled a little softer. He too valued privacy for starters, though for perhaps more sinister reasons than most. Still, he hadn’t returned the question that time so he found himself thinking one over. Hmm. Maybe it was too early for that one….but ah….

Oh, he knew what to ask, actually. “How did you get your starter?” Gabe grinned. It was such a simple question, but it was one trainers often found value in. He sure did. “I received mine at the Birch City lab.” He went on. “There you can receive a lot of different Pokemon depending on what you’re looking for, but…. heh… I’ve always loved Charmander.”

They chatted on like that for a while, light, airy enough. Gabe was aware of Wren's thoughts more than ever but was reserved about asking anything too in depth. Still, they ere... at least somewhat interesting as far as he was concerned. Perhaps he'd look into them more later. There was always work to do for a budding criminal.
