Faolan Byrne
Age 21 Birthday June 20, 1998 Gender Female Pronouns She/Her Orientation Pansexual Faction Chimera Class Trainer Rank New Trainer Occupation n/a Hometown Circhester, Galar Current Residence Traveling | Tell us a little about yourself. How would you describe yourself? "Faolan Byrne. Age twenty-one." Faolan pushes a thick wave of blond hair over her shoulder, but the movement isn't done out of nervousness, no. As a matter of fact, everything about her screams of poise and self-confidence, from the way she's dressed - modest but not too modest - to her posture to the set of her shoulders. When she answers her voice is clear and light with a distinct Galarian accent, and she locks eyes with the man interviewing her. "Height, five-foot-seven. Weight - that's generally a secret, isn't it? Would you like my bra size, too? My measurements?" The smile she gives is sharply teasing, but seems detached, somehow. "Single, not looking. And no, I bear no relation to the Byrnes in Circhester." The interviewer pauses and looks up, expression lighting up as if just noticing the similarities between Faolan and the real-estate mogul and his wife. The blonde's expression darkens and she speaks firmly, "No. Relation." The man swallows. Touchy subject. Moving on... Why are you interested in the class you've chosen? "After considering the other options, being a trainer seems like the most self-sufficient way to get by here. I would also like to take on the gym leader challenge," She responds smoothly, not an ounce of hesitation in her tone. "I have no pokemon of my own right now, but I heard that the lab in Arciel will give out starters to budding trainers. Since I'm just starting out on my own I should hope that I qualify well enough. I'm going to become stronger." It comes out as an affirmation. Her ambition is bleeding through every syllable, practically tangible in every word. This is clearly something she's given much thought to and, given by the way her back straightens imperceptibly, is something that she's rather passionate about. "You can count on that. I've already left Galarian soil, so that's the first step of my journey. Not necessarily the hardest, but I'm basically on my own now. There's no turning back." Why are you interested in training in Arciel? Why not another region? "Arciel is one of the regions furthest from my family. It's also one of the only pies my father doesn't have his fingers in, so to speak." She states. "I've been coddled most of my life. When I pitched the idea to my father, he said he wouldn't have it and threatened to disown me. It was one of the few times he cared enough about my future to get angry - correction, one of the times he was actually around to get angry." She props her chin on her hand and her expression remains carefully blank, disinterested. "With all the adverts for trainers to get a fresh start here, how could I resist? Oh," She gives the interviewer a coy smile. "He doesn't know I'm here, of course. Please don't tell Daddy." Sarcasm drips from every word and Faolan snorts. What do you consider your best attributes? They can be physical, mental, social, or anything else. "I'm awfully good at talking about mindless things that have little to no consequence whatsover. Such an important skill." She ticks a finger as she counts things off. "I'm a stubborn bitch, according to a few people I don't really care about. I consider that a good thing. I also know what I want, and what to do to achieve it - you'd call that ambitious, wouldn't you? And I'm in pretty good physical shape. Enough that I can make it on my own and not have to worry about fainting at the sight of blood or something." What do you consider your worst attributes? Be honest, now! At the question, Faolan falls silent. It stretches for an uncomfortably long period of time, and the interviewer is just about to inquire as to whether or not she heard the question before the blonde lets out a sigh and proceeds to speak. Maybe she doesn't like thinking about her worst attributes? Weaknesses, perhaps? "Sometimes I care too much about people that don't care about me. I can be extremely petty; tit for tat, an eye for an eye, that sort of thing. I get irritated easily. If your first impression is awful, then I tend not to like you. I guess that falls into the 'stubborn bitch' category." What was your childhood like? How was school? "Mmmm..." She drums her well-manicured nails on her folded arms as she thinks. "The other girls didn't like me much. It was an all-girls' school, so I suppose that's to be expected. I didn't gloss over things or giggle prettily like they did, nor did I fawn over boys - but the boys seemed to like me, especially when I hit puberty and blossomed." Faolan makes a vague gesture towards her chest and the interviewer's eyes drift down for a second, then snap back up - just in time to catch the sharp smile on the blonde's lips. "I don't think that's changed." Stammering out an apology, the man quickly looked down to his clipboard and pretended to scrawl something there just to get out of the awkward situation. Faolan watched him in amusement, then continued. "My mother was around, but inattentive. Whenever I wasn't 'ladylike' enough she'd scold me and teach me how to use makeup to make myself look more presentable. I was around eight by the time the lessons first started. I suppose I should be thankful to her," Faolan muses, leaning back in her seat. "You can hide a lot of things with makeup. You can also make yourself look older, younger... if you know how to play your cards right, you can get anything you want." How is your relationship with your family? "My father is a businessman that tends to spread his love in different regions while my mother turns a blind eye." Faolan gives a smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes. "So take from that what you will. As far as I know I'm the only legitimate child, but who knows what that man's been up to these days." What do you like to do for fun? "Not much nowadays since I've left home." Faolan's deep blue eyes peer about the room; it seems she was a little disinterested in this question. But the way she doesn't quite meet the eyes of the interviewer is perhaps telling in its own right? "Bars, meet people - try and make connections, because you'll never know when they'll be useful later. I suppose that's one thing I've kept from lectures with my mother." She inspects her nails idly, but the set of her mouth is telling. "How to use and be used." What are your feelings on romance? "Unnecessary." The answer comes almost immediately, and an unreadable expression crosses her face. Whatever softness was there before is hard to find. "I'm not interested. You don't need romance to have children or to establish business connections, so I'd rather do without it. It only brings trouble to everyone in the end." What are your goals for the future? Short-term and long-term. "I want to grow strong enough not to have to depend on anyone anymore, for anything. True independence, where I can sustain myself on a viable income and where people know me for how good I am at what I do." Faolan looks mildly annoyed; maybe a misunderstanding in the past? The interviewer notes this down on his clipboard. "I think that counts well enough for both short-term and long-term. To put it simply, I want power. I want to be stronger." If you could be a Pokemon, what species or typing would you choose and why? "I've always been fond of Steelix. Diamonds are a girl's best friend, after all." Faolan crosses her legs and twirls a lock of blond around her finger. It's interesting to note that she wears no diamonds even as she says this, not even in the studs and rings in her ears. The interviewer notes down her response and looks up, silently prompting further elaboration. After a moment, Faolan responds with, "They say that a Steelix is formed by an Onix drilling towards the earth's core. That it's basically forged through fire and pressure to become stronger than it was before." Faolan's gaze drifts out wistfully. "It's an inspirational story, isn't it? Enduring hardships and pain only to come out of it beautiful and strong? I can respect that." What do Pokemon mean to you? "Pokemon mean a number of things to me. They're strong, with the potential to be amazing partners that can help you achieve your dreams in exchange for you helping with theirs. I'm not one to forget a favor that's given to me, so I mean entirely to repay any and all help I'm given. I don't like being in debt to people, and pokemon are no exception." The blond fingers a necklace at her throat, one that looks like the broken half of a nonconverted pokeball. "And they protect us. Sometimes they even give their lives for it." Anything else you'd like to tell us about before you go? Faolan shakes her head and when she stands, it's in a smooth, elegant movement, sinuous and poised. She's dressed in prime interview garb - a neat pencil skirt, a nice blouse showing just a bit of cleavage and -- oh, he's staring again. The interviewer quickly looks up into the blonde's deep blue eyes and the smile she gives him is polite, but it doesn't quite reach her eyes. She offers her hand in such a way that makes the man feel like he should kiss it instead of shaking it - but that's ridiculous, right? "If you've no further questions for me," She continues once they've shaken hands. "Then I'll be on my way. Do keep in touch. I look forward to hearing from you." It's professional and curt, very practiced. He nods quickly, keeping the clipboard close to his chest, and then just like that the interview's over. |
Appearance
Height 5'07" / 173cm Build Slim, curvaceous Hair Color A bright, sunshine blonde. Eye Color Blue | Faolan has a healthy complexion, but is still fairly pale. The only piercings are in her ears, three on each side, and she dresses in a manner that suggests she's unafraid to flaunt her body and dares all to comment on it - for better or for worse. The clothes she wears hug her form generously but provide a good range and ease of movement. On nights when she's out she tends to dress for the occasion, with her wardrobe ranging from club/cocktail dresses to casual business attire. If she wears makeup it's hard to tell, as she's so gotten so practiced at blending it in it appears natural. The major telling sign is whether or not her freckles are visible, as she usually covers it up with foundation and concealer. Her hair is long and cut in messy layers, almost like she did it herself, but still retains its thickness and volume despite the uneven shag. Aura Her aura tends to stay along the purple spectrum - dark purple at its resting point, and a brighter, lighter purple whenever her emotions flare up and she gets angry. There's a strange shape to it, like flapping wings, but it's constantly shifting so that it's hard to tell exactly what it is. Some kind of bird, perhaps? |

The bird perished in the attempt and after the indifference from her parents over its death, she swore that she would never forget and become stronger so its death wouldn't be in vain. The pokeball necklace she wears is a testament to its memory. She's a little pessimistic, especially with regards to matters of the heart after seeing her parents marriage and all its dirty little secrets. However, she isn't quite that hardhearted and will step in if she sees someone struggling or if it's a person that she perceives as weak, because she feels like she can relate to them better. She'll say it's because she's amassing favors, but she might just be a tsundere. Pokemon
