Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
Sid hadn't take their juice so Naoki set it on the table. Confused but not put-off, Naoki leaned toward Gaki as she turned her own phone for them to see. It was a lot of colors. And shapes. And things. They didn't know what was going on or who on the screen--or what--was meant to be Gaki or Sid, or if they were doing something together to begin with, because nobody was typing anything. But the context clues did imply they were working together? This would be a lot easier with some manner of subtitles. Was the green bar above the woman with wings mean to be getting smaller and smaller? Yes?
They glanced up between the pair of cousins tapping their phones on their kitchen floor. There was a couple more minutes of screen mashing and bright colors and then suddenly Sid leaped up from the floor with their mouth open. Onsei jolted backward in the air from them, startled by the noise which his trainer did not hear. Naoki tilted their head and gave the two of them a bemused smile, holding a single finger up, like a person asking somebody to pause in their sentence for a second. In truth it was the sign for "What". Which was what Naoki was thinking very, very much right now.
<<What?>>
At least they looked like they were happy, so whatever it was must have gone well?
PHEW! "Yesssss!" Gaki threw her head back in victory, letting out a breath of air she wasn't aware she was holding. She couldn't help grinning slightly at Sid's antics, though she was quick to hide it. No low defenses, this was still a mission! A few snickers instead left her as she watched them, "Bet that made your energy level increase, Sid!" She managed out, shifting her phone to tap through and ensure everything was in order before suddenly remembering Naoki's presence-
Ah! The mission! The affection points! Gaki moved the notepaf up on her phone again, managing:
[ raid, we won! ᕦ(ò_óˇ) ᕦ(ò_óˇ) ᕦ(ò_óˇ) ]
She seemed to go through some part of the game for a moment before shifting to grab the milk again, giggling to herself. It was such a rush, winning something- Gaki couldn't wait to raid the dungeons in her MMOs tonight, that's when she really started screaming. Phone games weren't so much her cuppa as becoming an intensive attacker with a cute avatar, slamming down enemies with whatever sword or axe her character had. There was a pause, and a head tilt, "Siiiiid...Would digi-go be something we should introduce to a beginner like Naoki? I gotta raise their affection points somehow so we don't end up in the red and in a farming battle!"

Sid couldn’t have been happier if they tried. This was the best thing they’d done all day. And actually, yeah, they did have more energy now. And then they noticed the drink off to the side and realized how quickly it had been forgotten. A blush touched their features briefly before they quickly shifted to pick it up and actually take a drink now. The tips of their ears would remain red for quite a while longer all the same.
The question, however, had them glancing from Gaki to Naoki and back again. “Hmmmm yes,” they nodded looking back to Naoki again. An apologetic smile came to their features again as they realized they’d kind of up and zoned out there for a second beforehand. Quickly texting out a couple of lines, they held it out to Naoki right after.
[Sorry I play a phone game, Digi-go, and a rare boss spanwed in your house] they paused and flipped the screen to the game they had just been playing and then to the location of their newly obtained Ophanimon. They gave a sage nod a couple of times as they held their phone out. [Your house spawned a rare one!]
Even with words given to them Naoki still had no idea what was going on. What was a "raid"? Did that have a sign? Gaki and Sid had won it, whatever it was, so Naoki just gave a little thumbs up before Gaki moved to say something to her cousin. While they spoke, briefly, Naoki saw a red light flashing in the corner of their eye. Ah, the water was ready. They moved to start getting a kettle, mug, and tea leafs to make something for themselves. The tea leafs were loose so they needed to put them into a little metal cage with a chain attached, setting it into the kettle--a simple white tea-pot with only a trio of pale blue flowers along the middle--before pouring the hot water in. It let out a satisfying plume of steam, the smell of hibiscus and roselli berries starting to fill the kitchen.
Naoki looked back at them to find another screen pointed at them. More words that they didn't know, or have an equivalent of. Digi-go, boss, spawn...huh, actually that sounded (figuratively) like some of the slang they knew surrounded Pokemon. Maybe it was similar? Though Pokemon didn't have such humanoid appearances. Naoki tapped out a response. [So like a rare Pokemon? That's good right?] They did a quick check on the tea before continuing. The leafs in the water slowly began dyeing the whole of its contents a brilliant crimson, not unlike the berry the leafs came from. [Well if more of them spawn here, you're free to have at them, since I wouldn't even know about it! ^^;;]
How did this game even have their house on their maps, anyway? Well, it wasn't like they had carved out this place by themselves, it had been sold to them. Maybe it just had access to a map or something. [That's an interesting costume on her. Very angelic and...pointy? I can't imagine making any costumes from this series would be easy.]
Yes! A small smirk crossed Gaki's features for a moment before she quickly let her expression fall to something more neutral. Now she had a new goal! Introduce Naoki to digi-go! "I wanna introduce them to all sorts of games- imagine how cool it would be to have more people to smash in games??" Eyes glanced back up and over to naoki, who was preparing a new tea? Or... something in a kettle. Gaki didn't associate with kettles, until they learned how to make energy drinks she was happy with her milk for growth and her energy-up potions.
Gaki leaned over to see what Sid typed out to Naoki, watching the text conversation play out but struggling a little... arceus this was hard. "We should make a group chat! So we don't need to keep showing the phones to each other- oh wait I should type that out uh..."
As Naoki showed Sid more messages Gaki went to her own phone to type out her amazing new thought, moving to take a sip of her milk all the while.
[!! we should make a group chat naoki so we dont have to keep showing each other the screens (●´ω`●)]
She also took that as a chance to glance over what was already said, oh! Naoki liked the costume on the digimon character! Gaki had to hold off grinning, instead she moved to type... what... if... Naoki was into cosplaying too- or... dressing up? She'd have to be sneaky but...
[ it's such a cool costume! ≧◡≦ they're all super detailed and stuff. wouldn't it be cool to dress up as something like that? ]
Gaki looked up then brought her attention to Sid, they could talk about costume making since it was right up their alley, but... "Naoki before you came said LARPing sounds like fun- but that it'd probably require talking..." Something sparkled in Gaki's eyes then, she was excited. "But! We can still get them in a costume, just look at the interest- but first we have to properly build up affection points! It's a new mission!"

Sid gave a grin and a nod. “Yeah!” Oh oops, right. They started to text it only to stop and watch Naoki check on the tea. Oh… that tea pot was actually beautiful and so homely. How cute. Their eyes flickered back around Naoki’s place again slower this time. They had some really cute items, actually. What a well-designed inventory…
Their eyes flickered down again as Naoki wrote out some more. [THANK YOU!] Looking down at their screen again right after to observe the beautiful maiden they had courted in the heat of battle, Sid sighed wistfully. [She’s an angel of light and power, one of the three great celestial beasts of the game.] A small chuckle turned into a giggle right then. They could only imagine cosplaying her! The queen! What a lady! Maybe they would sometime.
Before they could say more, though, Gaki’s words cut through Sid’s thoughts. Blinking, they looked up at her. “Oh, yeah, definitely….” they agreed. “Can you air drop me Naoki’s number? I can set up a Line or something pretty easily…” Sid asked already starting to fiddle with the functions on their phone.
They paused at the mention of LARP, though, this eyes wide and alight anew. “OooooooHH???” Their eyes traced over Naoki. They bet they co— Oh…. They’re tall… This realization hit Sid like a strange truck. Would… could… they fit any of their current costumes??? Maybe some of the looser ones. But…. “Hmmmmmm….” Sid crossed their arms and set a hand on their cheek as they tried to imagine what would look best on Naoki.
More talking. Okay. It was times like this that Naoki wished they'd put more effort into reading lips, but also reminded themselves that they weren't speaking their native tongue to begin with. It was difficult enough mastering different signs from different regions but on top of that different verbal languages? They'd run out of brain space. Once Onsei could act as an aid things would be much easier. Gaki had another solution at least. With a small nod Naoki started going to the app that would give Gaki and Sid their phone number and other contact information. Come to think of it this would have been a lot easier than showing each other their phones the whole time...
Well, let it never be said they were looking for the simplest solution to things.
Like finding a telepathic Pokemon to use as a hearing aid.
Yep. Not the simplest solution.
<<Here,>> Naoki gestured to their phone with their thumb and index finger together, then quickly gestured between themselves and Gaki, <<So we can text.>> The screen also showed their email address. Would they need to make something else to use pokechord? Maybe they'd need to get to their computer at least. Naoki glanced at Sid.
Hm? They're looking at me...do I have tea on my face?
Gaki's next question drew their attention back. And suddenly they were pink in the cheeks. Wha--them? In something like that? That'd be too much, wouldn't it? <<It is beautiful...>> Naoki pressed their palms flat together, glancing aside for a moment, still a little flustered. Was that why Sid was looking at them so intensely? Had Gaki said that aloud as well? Maybe if it were something a lot less...um...what was the word...skin-ish.
Her cousins knowledge about the game and love of it was unrivalled, Gaki, as a casual player, could only watch with a blink at their amusement at whatver they were thinking about, proably cosplay, or one of the games few waifu's. Their following words had Gaki nodding along, right before Naoki showed Gaki their email address. Gaki was quick to input it into her own phone with a nod of thanks, determined to quickly put together a group chat. She forwarded the email to Sid and then quickly made a group email for easy conversing. Eyes flicked up as Gaki realised Naoki was showing their phone. A noise of excitement left Gaki and she very quickly began to text, all while voicing her plans to Sid.
"Would they be a ranged attacker? Skirts or pants? Alterations could easily be cropped- oh- or a pirate! And they liked what I showed earlier..." Her fingers were typing a frenzy, and she was quick to press the send button.
[ right! i can send over a bunch of other examples and you can tell me what you like best! oh, and i can send game reccoendations in here too until we have a pokecord. ]
She was quick to go to the explorer and open a pokecord, flicking through various phtos and saving them all before sending through a variety of images, magical girls, warriors, medievil archers... Gaki was on a mission.

Wha— what do you mean they hadn’t already swapped emails or phone number? Sid watched the exchange between Naoki and Gaki and slowly shook their head to clear it. Ah well, that was done now, and the group chat would be a lot simpler.
On to a different thought, though: what Naoki could wear. Ranged attacker did sort of fit…. Definitely pants, though… or maybe actually long pants that looked like a skirt, yes. They could almost see them as an archer or a caster… Their eyes flashed over Naoki carefully considering everything they had in their cosplay arsenal at the moment. Their phone vibrated, and Sid registered that Gaki was chatting now in text. Reading it quickly, they were quick to text in addition to:
[If you find something you like, let me know.] They could probably hem or extend whatever it was… or just make a new one even. Long skirt would work, though, probably…. [Oh oh what weapon do you wish to wield!] they asked as the thought dawned on them.
Naoki, not needing to look up from their phone outside of looking at facial expressions, moved to get a cup of tea while reading the messages sent to them. Examples? Of cosplay? For them? Shoot, they were both serious about this. Sid's question left them even more confused. Weapon?...OH, for the live action role play. That made more sense than Sid just assuming that they would want a weapon with whatever costume they wound up giving Naoki. Though a cool looking sword probably could go with any costume, if they were being honest. The bright red tea poured into a clay cup and Naoki brought it to their lips to blow on, flicking through the dozen or so images that Gaki was now sending their way. There were a lot there, weren't there. Wow. Yikes.
[ Hahah, I'm so simple with what I wear, so I'm sorry if I look indecisive. ^_^;; ] Naoki did a quick response as they turned around, then, with the hand holding the phone as the one holding their tea cup was full-er, they pointed towards the living room. Standing about in the kitchen was probably less comfortable than sitting on the couches, and Onsei seemed to have moved off in that direction himself.
Once in the living room Naoki took a spot on one of the warm red couches, setting their tea cup on a coaster on the low wooden coffee-table. Their thumb had stopped hovering above one of the photos. It looked like a traditional samurai outfit. Huh. That looks...
[ Is this one that you made? ] Naoki pinged the picture in the group message with a small smiley face. [ I like the look of it. Maybe something like that? Or is that not the right "tone" for your LARP? ] They considered for a moment. As school they'd only been in one "sport" club, and not for more than a couple of years, but... [ Do people use ranged weapons? Like a bow and arrows? Or is that too dangerous? ] The arrow would obviously need to be dulled, if they were fired at all, but it would just be a prop. Would that go against the outfit? Did it matter?
The girl was bouncing on the spot in her own excitement for the concept of a potential LARPer who might actually be interested in her ideas and be up for joining the LARP farm, maybe, kinda, probably. She stopped sending the images only when she was content she'd sent all the different styles she could find. She barely noticed Naoki's message fly through, her fingers going through the pattern of selecting a saved image and sending, seleeecting and sending- it wasn't until she heard the sound of retreating footsteps did she glance up and notice Naoki's retreating form- uh...
Right! Gaki fled after them and all but collapsed into the couch, right back to where she was and then, when she was finished, she began swining her legs a little, waiting in anticipation for a reply. As they took interest in the samurai outfit and then began talking about weapons Gaki let out an excited chuckle, hooooboi. Eyes flicked to Sid's form before she typed away once more.
[ siiiid show them some of your work!ヽ(^◇^*)/ those pics are from chuugle but sid could totally replicate a sumarai outfit, i dunno their pricings but they're better then completling a master class dungeon with half a heart left. ] Her fingers were flying quickly, Gaki was in the zone! [it fits the tone! as long as you have a character backstory that fits the samurai then it works! we don't have a proper theme set up for our up and coming larp so it can easily be slotted into the story!]
"Right?" Gaki turned to Sid then, pausing from texting to blink, as if brought out of her world for a second, "...Or do we actually have a set story? I know we had that other one back in Kanto but we're strating from scratch fully here, right?" Of course she could just rewrite an old character into a new story and alter their backstory sligtly- oh! Oh! She could tutally dual-weild this time around! She was back to typing quicker then a response could be given.
[ foam bow and arrows would work perfectly, archers are common and there's all sorts of larp weapons that work! you could have a long-bow, or a short bow, or an arrow cannister, or a arrow sword... (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧]
She magaed to stop herself as if to enthuse the possibiltieis then, and then finally took a rest from her typing.

Sid’s head turned back towards the living room, and a soft “Ah,” escaped from them. “Noble…” they murmured patting the Skiddo and leading him back that direction. Carrying their cup and their phone, Sid went to sit down again. Noble rested down on their feet again comfortably, and Sid once again felt a weird sense of sleepiness crop up again. At least now they could flip through their phone with purpose.
A small chuckle escaped from them as Naoki’s question pinged their phone. [I have ones similar to it, but not exact… ]they answered immediately side swiping to search for some recent-ish pictures. Ah actually, they should just search Instachu for it. Chuugling that really quickly, they pushed up the messages that kept coming as they searched.
As Gaki spoke, Sid finally sent along a few images of a few feudal cosplays as well as one more medieval one. [I’ve tried a lot of different styles and worked with a lot of different fabrics. If you can think it, I can probably make it.] Probably. Maybe, yeah. Gaki’s spoken words had them looking up and smiling a little. “Right,” they answered. “I was considering we could start something new and special here…” They didn’t really… want to continue that story without the bulk of their friends anyways. Better to just suspend it for a while until they met again.
Taking a sip of their tea, Sid went back to searching for more images. Oh that one was a good one. In that one they had a sword even and a staff in that other one and…. AHHHH They had forgotten they’d done that one cosplay over there that one-time eheheheh. Sid showed a few, some of their best and most unique work.
They paused to read back the messages again and realizing they had missed something immediately went to grab some images of the foam weapons they actually had back home. There were swords, shields, bows and arrows, staffs, and numerous other things all meant to strike but not sting. [These are just the oens we have right now too…]
Ah, of course, this sort of thing would have to cost money. Naoki couldn't expect Sid to make them something so complicated for nothing. Did they have the money to afford this sort of thing, if they chose to go along with it? Actually, had they even agreed to join? They couldn't remember right away. A small sound--half a giggle--escaped them reading over Gaki's comparison, of Sid's work and her video game experiences.
[ Backstory? How detailed do you make those? ] Naoki pushed their lips into a thin line. Creative writing had never been a passion of theirs. But they could come up with a simple character, right? How hard could it be? They continued to scroll through the new pictures as Sid posted them in the group, smiling at them. Sid's work was gorgeous.
I wish I was more creative. It feels like all I've done is hone my gardening skills...
...this may be a good chance to broaden my horizions. I hope.
Knowing fake weapons were okay made them smile a little more. [ I worked with a longbow in club. It's been years though. I hope I haven't gotten rusty, hahah. ^__^;; ]
[ It all sounds very fun though. I think I would like to participate. And I can definitely pay you for a costume if you have the time for it. Which ones do you use in the LARP? Weapons and costumes, I mean. Or have you not made your own characters yet? ]
