Dae Mondo Dae
Age 31 Birthday Jan. 15, 1989 Gender Male Pronouns He/him Orientation Threateningly straight Faction Citizen Class Criminal Rank Getaway Driver Occupation Ex-wrestler, aspiring Breeder Hometown Plum City, Arciel Current Residence Renting a room in Cherry Town | <In the Field: Training Towards Redemption> ...on this end of the Plum Island, we're seeing more and more ex-convicts move away from Arciel's capital to turn a new life. Recent years have seen an unprecedented rise in crime rates in the urban parts of the region, and although some believe crime is a mentality, these individuals reject that notion. A year after completing their sentences, how do they cope with the lasting stigma? And how, perhaps, as Pokemon Training played a part in their rehabilitation? This is Chip Talkem with ARC Morning Sun, broadcasting from Cherry Town, a community fostering new beginnings. [cut] <Dae Mondo Dae, Breeder, Sentenced 7 Years for Mild Mistreatment of Pokemon> "So tell us a little about yourself, Dae. How would you describe yourself?" "Ah, I'm no one special. Just a humbled man with a dream." ("HE'S THE ONE, THE ONLY–!") ("BIG MONEY MONDO ON THE NEWWWS, BABY!") "And you've discovered your dream, in the same vein as so many others here in Arciel– Why are you so interested in this class you've chosen?" "I love Pokemon! I'm very passionate about Pokemon; I have been throughout my career, and I still am. I can say that–" ("MONEY MAN! SHOW THEM THE MONEY, MAN!") "Come on, guys... Uh, I can say that my way of expressing my passions has matured over the last, several years. Pokemon always inspired me in my craft because of the impossible power they had and how awesome they looked when they fought. And I was raised in a way to appreciate the spiritual side of Pokemon. But I've come to realize now that Pokemon are more equal to any of us than I had always believed. I want to bring out that impossible power, not by pushing them to their limits, but by being a friend to them." ("Fuck, is he talking about the wrestling yet? This is fucking boring, man. Talk about the fucking wrestling, you juiced-up Clefable. Who cares about 'friends with Pokemon–'") "So why stay in Arciel? Why not start over in another region?" "It's tempting. But I believe I can make a difference here. I think, if I leave my career behind me, if I work towards rebuilding my image, people will come around. And Dae Mondo NEVER GIVES IN!" ("WOOOO!") ("AY, BIG MONEY MONDO! BIG MONEY MONDO!") ("Fuck yeah! That's what I'm talking about!") "Right, and you can't just hang this posse of yours out to dry!" ("Hell yeah. Mondo's the OG. I low-key grew up on his matches.") ("HE'S A BEAST!") ("Killed everyone on the underground. These punk-ass trainers are gonna get their shit steamrolled out here.") "Uh-huh. So what does 'The Money-Man' consider his best attributes? Physical, mental, social; anything else." "Honestly, the wrestling days are behind me–" ("STOP LYING!") ("Nooo, you can't say that!") ("Knew he was a little bitch now.") "Hahaha! I mean, I keep in shape, but I don't want to rest on past laurels. I strive to stay humble. I strive towards self-improvement, too. I'd say I'm a very willing, friendly person who's open to different experiences and looking for ways to iterate, to get better." "What do you still need to work on?" ("He's soft.") "I think I can be a bit stiff. I think I can get tunnel-visioned, when I'm working towards something. And I know the intensity doesn't appeal to everyone." ("He doesn't wrestle anymore! He needs to work on wrestling again!") "YOU DARE QUESTION MONDO!?" ("BODY-BAG HIM! HEAVY SLAM HIM!") ("Oh, shit!") "What was your childhood like? How was school?" "It was... I don't want to paint it a negative light, but we were never 'affluent.' I've spent most of my years on this island. Growing up in a poor neighborhood, having a single guardian – my grandmother –, it put a target on my back. "You could call me a hoodlum at that age. I was part of a 'pack.' We were never dangerous, but we were always cruel in the way children can be. I will say I was always the quiet one... "Sports appealed to me at that age as a way to take my mind off some of the hardships growing up. I was a huge Crasher Wake, comic-book-superhero fan, and I would just watch old tapes of him until they wore out. Wrestling became a way to express myself in a way I didn't often get to." ("Yo, I'm falling asleep right now. What is this shit?") "Did prison affect your relationship with your family?" "..." "...did someone else walk in? Why'd you look behind you there?" "...no reason. Our relationship– with my grandmother, our relationship is strained at the moment. Yes, prison affected it. "Really, the hardest part about prison was the isolation from the outside. You end up missing a lot of things, to the point you feel disconnected. Being released out into the city I was raised in and seeing it so devastated from the attacks, it put things into perspective for me." "How did you spend those months after your release?" "Reflecting, mostly. I know some people are more focused on finding work again. I actually roomed with an old friend who had gotten out before me, and from there, I volunteered, mainly at Pokemon shelters." "On a lighter note, what do you like to do for fun?" "Everything now is towards becoming a great breeder. I guess I'd say... I read. I work out. I watch TV... Ah, I think that might be it. Not so interesting! I still volunteer where I can–" ("He got a dating app so he can get laid.") ("Yo, Money Man gets mad puss. Major player.") "Really? What are your feelings on romance?" "What– That was one time! I haven't even looked at it in a month! Are you lying about me? Are you BETRAYING THE TRUST, OF BIG MONEY DAE MONDO!?" ("Ohh, shit! Don't get Mondo angry!") ("THE MAN'S IS MAD!") ("Yo, I'm actually fucking scared.") "Romance is an interesting subject. ...that I don't have much to say about. Ha!" "You'd say you're focused on moving forward." "Absolutely. It's unfortunate what happened with the leaks, but I see it all as a learning experience." "What are your goals for the future? Short-term and long-term." "Short-term, I want to keep my outlook and learn what it takes to be a great Pokemon Breeder. I want to become adjusted to my new life in Cherry Town. Long-term, it's uncertain, but starting my own business seems to be the end goal. What's it called... a daycare? Maybe." "Here's a fun one, just to throw out there: If you could be a Pokemon, what species or typing would you choose and why?" ("He's a fucking Fairy-type.") ("FIGHTING TYPE. BADASS.") ("Dragon, baby!") "You know, I've always related to the Normal-types. In life, I feel I've either stood our or been completely overlooked! Especially when I was younger. An independent, underground wrestler is only so special in a small crowd. Normal-types are like that, where you can overlook them because of how common they are, but almost all of them can surprise you." "You mentioned before your perspective of Pokemon has changed over the years. What do they mean to you now?" "Back then... you know the controversy. With Pokemon, they're intelligent and they're powerful. They understand things that man does not. What Pokemon mean to me is a bond you can't find with your fellow man. They're powerful, but it's a power that you need to earn through trust." "Anything else you'd like to tell us about before you go? Some final advice for the people at home?" "Be the best version of yourself, and decide that for yourself!" ("Bruh, quit jacking off and say it.") ("SAY THE LINE! SAY THE LINE!") "Eh. What's the harm? SHOOOW ME THE MONEY!" ("He said it! I'm out, bitches.") ("WOOOO! MONEY-MAAAAN!") ("Mon-do! Mon-do!") [cut] |
Appearance
Height 6'06" / 185cm Build Big Hair Color Dark-blue Eye Color Brown | A subtle, medium-tan complexion; subtle scars on his upper body; a subtle tattoo of Otoboke's name in characters on the inside of his left wrist. He has the inverted-triangle, body-builder type of shape with healthier muscle distribution and an inherent slouch so when he does stand up straight, his height and build can come as a surprise. He has a quiet speaking voice and a VERY LOUD PERFORMANCE VOICE. Mondo either dresses incidentally or is the most professional in the room, and by sheer misfortune, either time is the worst suited. His t-shirt collection has a better sense of humor than he does. Finally, the mask is in-optional; it's a "reflection of his soul." But he'll take it off if he has to. He has a boring face. Aura A blue glow limning his body, exerting a "pull" like a personal, intense pressure around himself. |

Dae didn't adopt a wrestler psuedonym, swearing to the sincerity of his role. His persona was basically Incineroar: a heel with a soft spot for cute Pokemon. Because this existed in nature, the "Tiger" wrestling persona was popular in and out of the underground. Allowing Dae to stand out was the conniving way he played into the cliche in order to catch opponents off-guard with sudden competence and a somewhat discrepant touch of stealth. But that's all behind him. He was sentenced to seven years for without parole for mistreatment of Pokemon, charged after photos depicting him at an unlicensed battle ring surfaced online. Obviously, this killed his wrestling career. Dae is still considered a "criminal" because of his previous connections with unsavory types, his struggle to readjust to life outside of prison, and overall, his susceptibility to peer pressure. All the same, he does genuinely want to turn over a new leaf, even if he doesn't have the whole "breeding" thing down-pat yet. (I know it says you guys want a heads-up for criminal-class characters, but I'm sure a gentle giant in a luchador mask isn't that edgy!) After his move to Cherry Town about two months prior to the start of his journey, Dae succumbed to some community pressure and downloaded a dating app, meeting the enigmatic "McGardener" who seems to have a better handle on things.
