A thankful smile was given to Celeste as the 2020 battle of the table took place, it was slightly heavy, of course it had once seated 7 people, but it was no match for two people. "T-Thanks, ma'am." It was righted fairly quickly and then Chinami turned her attention to the floor. A soft breath escaped her, right so... napkins, sauce- she vaguely spotted that a cup had been smashed. or... two? Eyes flicked to Scarlett's spot to confirm that yeah, it had.
She didn't wish to put more strain on the mother of the household but Chinami needed to know things if she was going to proceed with the cleaning operation. "Uhm... where's the dustpan kept, Mrs Bell? I think there's... been a few smashes..." Another pause before she tilted her head, "..it shouldn't take more than ten minutes to clean with the two of us, since there wasn't too much on the table... and then uh..."
...Oh she hoped the food wouldn't go to waste, she knew Mr. Bell's food was always good. Scarlett wouldn't leave her room until her fit was over and Chinami was sure she'd get a call from her girlfriend at any minute telling her to get in the room so they could devise a plan or... something. It wasn't all that surprisng that her teen angst hadn't gone away, Chi guessed, just... difficult to deal with.
Celeste sighed once the table was righted again. Of course, she had to come back at the worst of times, granted they were never quite completely the best of times either with a certain resentful and ungrateful child around. Celeste shook her head and managed a small smile at Chi. “No, thank you, Chi,” she answered.
Unfortunately, it was not finished. There had been things on the table and plenty were smashed from this. Tsking softly, she shook her head, extended a hand, and spoke clearly, directly. “That won’t be necessary, dear. Kite, be a dear and clean up the glass… and whatever food you find,” she stated. Suddenly from the ring of her hand, a Ditto lept forth and took the form of a Grimer that very quickly started to devour the floor and the trash. Celeste lowered her hand and then rubbed her temple. She supposed she should do something with herself in the meantime. Fishing out her phone, she checked her email.
Meanwhile, Dan had failed to catch up with his in-flight daughter and sighed turning to slowly begin his trek back to the house. What a mess.
Chinami's eyes widened as the Ditto, turned Grimer, was sent out, watching as it just... consumed everything on the floor. Ah... okay. She stood awkwardly for a few moments, gaze travelling from the Grimer to Celeste, then back to the pokemon... She didn't know what to say, really. "I'm sorry about Scarlett..." Was what she found herself saying, moving towards the stand where she'd put her phone, glancing at it for a moment. There was already an unread text from Scarlett asking if 'that bitch' was gone yet.
Chinami knew she couldn't make excuses for her blonde fiance, her grandmother always told her excuses were bad for the soul and owning up to whatever went wrong was the only way to go about things. Scarlett however was so, completely different in that regard which in part was why Chinami admired her, speaking whatever came to her mind, not being afraid to spout bullshit, visibly being able to just outwardly express disdain, Chinami could never.
Ahhh- but she was overthinking again. Fingers began typing, and she spoke once more. "...I could... pour you a drink if you'd like- uh... i'm not too familiar with the kitchen in this house, but I can look around." The atmsphere was almost suffocating, in a way. Awkward. Chinami was the fiance- or- maybe Celeste still assumed girlfriend- of her 'most hated daughter', or so Scarlett claims. She'd only really met the woman a handful of times over the years she's been with the girl...
After telling Scarlett to just stay in her room for now and to ensure she opened a window to get proper air in so she could breathe and calm down better she pocketed the phone and turned towards the kitchen. "So, yeah, drinks? Perhaps?"
Chi was sorry about Scarlett. Celeste was sorry about Scarlett for entirely different reasons. A soft sigh was the given response. This entire situation was a sorry excuse for whatever it was supposed to be. And she really didn’t have time for it. I wonder if I can catch another flight within the next few hours… She flipped to some messages and re-texted her manager. Nothing yet.
Her eyes flicked back to the door, and she distantly considered stepping out. It wasn’t like she could necessarily find either Dan or Elise at that point, but it was better than standing around here, actually.
Chi’s words interrupted Celeste’s thoughts. She looked sideways at her and frowned. “No, I think I’ll be heading out to see where Dan and Elise went,” she answered turning and deciding to go out the back door Elise had escaped through and Dan had walked out of. “Thank you for the help cleaning up.” The tone was sterilized now, and with that, Celeste stepped out.
Chi's gaze stayed on the female head of the household, tracking her movement and awaiting some sort of respnse. There was so much off about just.... this whole situation, and it left an uneasy feeling in Chinami's stomach. She kept her best smile on though, which only died as Celeste instead said she was going to leave after Dan and Elise. Ah... A nod was the response Chinami gave, followed by a soft, "Yeah, it was no worries... ma'am..." as she watched the woman leave.
Right. Right. Okay. Chinami stood in the room by herself for a solid minute, debating what to do before moving over to a room that she was way too familiar with, hand rapping at the door that had a bold 'KEEP OUT' sign on it. Two knocks, then another quick five and then it opened to reveal a pissed off looking blonde. "Took you long enough, did the devil try and cut deal with y-" "Scarlett."
Chinami's voice was firm, and she moved to gently grab at her arm, drawing the girl out of the room. Scarlett huffed, gaze narrowing in suspicion at Chi, who's gaze was ever so slightly stern. Gazes locked, Chinami tried her best 'angry' impression but it didn't really settle and she instead sighed. "It was Elise's dinner tonight. I don't care if Darkrai himself made his presence known, your intentions should have been on making sure today was the most comfortable day for her." Scarlett only snicked, shaking off Chinami's grip. "So you're on her side, hu-" "No. It's no excuse for raising you how she did, but any other night would have been better than tonight."
Scarlett stared at Chinami liked she'd grown a second head and just huffed. "...I should have been the one to flip the table." ...Chinami didn't even laugh. She gave Scarlett a soft frown before turning and beginning towards the kitchen, beckoning her fiance to follow. "Here, they're not in right now. We should gladwrap the food your dad cooked at least so none goes to waste, maybe get another drink, okay?"
Scarlett stayed still for a moment, simply watching her fiance walk off, standing in her doorway. Fucking fuckity fuck. Chi was dissapointed, and that was worse than anything else. Drinks. They sounded good, maybe just pure vodka, tequila even... er- but she'd promised Chi she wouldn't... ugh- why was all this shit so difficult? With a sigh heaved out more dramatically than intended, Scarlett followed in her fiances footsteps. What a disaster, and it was all her mums fault.
