Elise had actually surprised herself. When a huge Skarmory had flown overhead, she hadn’t shied away from it like she might have up to that point. She’d actually had Sparkle go after it! With the full intention of capturing it. She needed a flier, or so she’d decided! It would be the fastest way to travel, and she wanted to… get out and explore more…. Away from Bass. Away from memories of Tony. She wanted to feel better, and she hoped this was the way forward.

Now she had Stella there in the training grounds, the massive Skarmory standing there with her wings folded back and a questionable look on her face. It was… actually kind of hard to discern just what the Skarmory was thinking with a metal head and beak like that. She was calm, but was she really? Elise smiled weakly. “Ok, ok let’s do this, ok? We’re going to practice flying here where it’s safe, so that way we can be steady when we go out—“ Where it wasn’t safe.

Elise had told the Skarmory these things plenty of times already. She’d said it to her when she was headed to the Birch City Training Grounds. She’d said it to her right before they had entered. And now she was saying it again just trying to convince herself that this was a good idea. This was what she wanted. “Ready???” The Skarmory made a low note. That was good enough for her!

She’d hesitated long enough! Walking around to the side of the Skarmory, Elise hesitated before gripping onto some less sharp armor on the Skarmory and carefully hoisted herself up. The cold touch of metal had her fidgeting slightly. She wished she’d worn pants instead of leggings, but Elise wasn’t going to turn back now. “Ok! Up and away we go!” she stated.

The Skarmory flicked out her wings and the numerous metal feathers that spread with them. Beating them upwards, she took to the skies shakily at first. Elise gripped tight around her shoulders, but as they drew higher and higher…. She slowly started to find this wasn’t too bad?

They started with a brief loop around the flight arena and then went a little higher. Hah, yeah! This wasn’t too bad at all, actually! Elise’s eyes flashed wildly about as she took in the aerial view! This was what bird Pokemon saw all of the time?? It was so beautiful! She’d never even considered just how wonderful it could be until that moment!

After that, they went around a flight course, one that was easy for the Skarmory to maneuver with her sharp vibrating wings. Elise found herself leaning forward and gripping on a bit more, but otherwise it was still good! They were still doing great!

It turned out to be a lot of fun!
