Well, this certainly was an interesting sight. A horde of Vivillon (wait, is that what you call a group of them?) had appeared. Marley wasn't really one for bug types personally. Well, unless they were something like Pinser or Heracross. But he had to admit there was some level of beauty to the whole display. And to make things even better, they seemed eager for a fight, if the fact that they were lining up before them. Aster certainly seemed to go at it. "Hehe, alrighty. Let's do this!"
And then, something nudged against his leg. Marley blinked and looked down. It seemed like there was another newcomer to all of this. A pineco, looking up at him with pleading eyes. Guess the little guy wanted some attention. Couldn't really blame it, considering the Vivillon around. "Oh...hey there." It wasn't immediately trying to fight him. Perhaps it just wanted some company. He crouched down before it. "Where'd you come from?" The Pineco certainly seemed happy that someone was finally noticing it. Really, as far as bug pokemon went, Marley didn't have any problems with Pineco. They were explosive little guys. And their evolved form...
Of course, this small distraction gave the Vivillon's time to gang up and take down Aster's pokemon. Marley blinked as the bird was knocked out of the sky. "Oh snap. Erm, be right back little guy," Marley spoke up quickly, rising to his feet. "IRONTON!"
Behind him, the massive Steelix, which everyone had forgotten was there, rose up tall. The butterflies paused, looking at the monstrous steel type, while let out a bellowing roar. "Smash them into the floor!" And Ironton was more than happy to oblige, coming down on them with a Heavy Slam.

All of the Vivillon were temporarily crushed by Ironton's attack, sustaining decent damage, but all but one of them was still fighting. The sand-colored one got up and fled, defeated. The lead bug attempted to use Struggle Bug on the huge Steelix, and the green one followed suit, but he likely barely noticed either move.
Aster called out to Iris again, who seemed to be rousing from her dozing state. "Come on, Iris, ya got this! Get up an' keep fightin'!" Finally, after what seemed like forever, Iris got up, spreading her wings with a fierce call, and flew up to strike at the orange insect with a Wing Attack. As soon as it was struck, Aster tossed a Poke Ball at it. The last Vivillon who hadn't attacked yet looked nervously around, then the blue one tried a Stun Spore on Ironton and the orange one used Gust on Iris. Iris managed to dodge the Gust and strike the green Vivillon with an Astonish, and Aster tossed a ball at that one too. "Good goin' Iris! And thank ya, Marley, this is a lot, even with a type advantage."
Throwing a Poke Ball at both the green Vivillon and the orange Vivillon
Marley couldn't help but laugh as Ironton effectively flattened the bugs, though he had to admit, they were tough little buggers as all but one got back up to keep fighting. And heck, it seemed Iris was good to keep fighting as well. And heck, it seemed Iris got her second wind and was able to keep fighting. Ironton's massive size and strength would be more than a match for the Vivillons, though he hadn't quite expected the Stun Spore. Should have seen that coming. "Aw bugger," he muttered, as the spores caused Ironton's joints to lock up. At least they couldn't do much to hurt the big guy. And thank goodness for Iris cleaning up the rest of them. She was even going to try and capture a couple of them.
"Yer welcome!" Marley said, taking note of the Vivillon's Aster was catching, "Ironton! Clean up the rest of them, will ya?" The good thing about a move like Heavy Slam, when you're as big as Ironton. All you had to do was fall on them. And paralysis didn't stop one from falling.
Meanwhile, the Pineco looked on in wonder. Marley couldn't help but noticed, chuckling. "Like whatcha see little guy?"

Finally, all of the remaining Vivillon fled, not wanting to be squashed into the ground a third time and not resigned to being captured like the other two. The lead Vivillon shook a tiny fist back at the group as he flew away, cursing in a tiny butterfly voice, and Iris saw and snapped her beak at him, causing him to flee faster.
Aster chuckled. "Aw, good goin' Iris! I'm real proud o' you." Iris puffed out her chest, grinning with her pointy beak, then got embarrassed and started to preen her chest feathers. "An' Ironton, that was amazin'! Ya just kinda fell on 'em but, hey, whatever works!"
"Anyway, ya wanna keep on walkin'? That was some crazy luck, huh?" Finally, Aster noticed the Pineco sitting at Marley's feet, staring up at him with shining, adoring eyes. "I think somebody likes ya, darlin'," she teased, nudging Marley with her elbow.
And with a couple of pokeballs and a good old fashioned beatdown, the Vivillon, those that were left were caught by Aster. Marley let out a small laugh, walking over to Ironton and petting the massive Steelix on the side. "Nice work mate. Take a load off. You deserved it." The Steelix let out a low sound of pride from the combined praise, before he was pulled back into his pokeball. The big guy had really done a good job today. "And you did pretty damn well as well Iris," Marley added, looking at the flying pokemon.
And then there was the Pineco. Aster finally noticed it was well, giving him a playful nudge. Marley chuckled. "Well, can ya blame 'em? It's me after all," he said with a smile, before squatting down to bring himself closer to the little Pineco's height. Meanwhile, Komoda and the little Gible were watching with curiosity as well. "Well then, wanna come with little guy?" he asked with a smile, pulling out a Net Ball. The look in the little bug's eyes was all the answer Marley needed, as he gently bounced it on its head.

Aster watched as the Pineco busted out of the ball, shook himself, and hopped away, looking sympathetic. "Aw, heck, I guess he got scared.. Ahm sorry." She sent the two Vivillon she had just captured straight to her PC; she'd deal with them later, train them a bit, get them integrated with her team, the whole shebang. It would be fun like usual. She took her phone from her pocket to spot that the eggs had been delivered and moved them to her party, sending back three Pokemon to make room.
"Ah just got three new eggs, they finally showed up!" She was excited; she always loved to hatch a new Pokemon and see what exactly she got out of it. Sometimes the Pokemon didn't suit her, but turned out to be good companions and somehow fit into the farm life anyway, and two of these eggs were new Pokemon she'd never seen. The third would be a Murkrow like Iris; she hoped they'd get along.
Marley's expression went flat the instant the Pineco burst free of the Net Ball, taking off into the grass. And to make things even more annoying, the damn thing had broken the ball! And it had been looking like he just wanted to join them. He gave a small sigh. "Well, these things 'appen. Just wish it didn't break the bloody ball." He picked up the pieces, sticking them in his bag. No sense in littering after all.
At her mentioning she now had three eggs, Marley gave a small chuckle. "Oh? We're gonna have more little one bein' born today? Well, fine by me." He chuckled, remembering the Gible's birth. "Anyway, sure. I gotta get to Pine. The mines ain't gonna work themselves."

"Yeah, I usually order up a few random eggs from th' Gacha service t' see what I get, but they're not always available. Ah got some nice ones this time 'round, though; one of 'em should be a new Murkrow, an' the others I'm not super sure 'bout, but they look neat." She released the eggs from their Poke Balls one at a time and showed them to Marley, checking on them while they were out, then put them all back safely, tucked away in her bag among her other supplies. "I'm hopin' for one o' the new ones to be a Grass Pokemon, it's been a bit since I got a new one, but pretty much anythin' is good. What kind o' Pokemon d'you like best?"
Iris had given the Murkrow egg a gentle test-peck when it was out, wondering and worrying about the bird inside. Would it be a new friend or a rival? She didn't know. She hoped they would be friends, but knew that a rival could be just as interesting and fun.
Marley nodded as Aster explained where she got the eggs. Gacha service huh? Marley was more of the mindset that you should catch your own pokemon, but when it came to eggs, well, that was a little more complicated. It wasn't like you could steal one from the wild. Just imagine the hell you'd be putting the mother through. Guess adopting eggs through this way made sense. He looked over the three eggs that she showed him, before she safely tucked them away.
Then came a rather curious question. What sort of pokemon did he like? Marley thought about it for a moment. Many people would have pegged him as a fighting fan, or maybe steel, if his Steelix was anything to go by. "To be honest, I'm not really sure. I'm honestly just happy to be a trainer at all, after all these years." He gave a small chuckle, as a thought occurred to him. "Though...there are some pokemon that I would like. But, I don't think they can be found here." he gave a small sigh, looking upward, "Hehe, consider me a little homesick for the homeland."

"Oh yeah? Where ya from? Ahm from Johto, close to Olivine. Mah parents had their farm there, raised Mareep an' other Pokemon an' had a vegetable garden." She smiled. "Ahm not homesick though, I had way t'many siblin's an' was glad t' get outta there an' go out on mah own. Love mah family, but more from a distance, y'know?"
A very cute, very pink Slowpoke wandered up carrying a berry in his mouth. He looked lost, or sleepy, or both, and was moving very, very slowly around, lumbering forward, stopping, blinking a few times, tilting his head, then turning to walk in another direction. Aster watched it out of the corner of her eye, saw it drop the berry, then wander closer, finally realizing there were people, and staring up at her with big old doe eyes.
"Aw, hey little guy." She crouched down to talk to the Pokemon. "Are ya lost?"
"Johto eh? I'm from Galar meself, from the big city of Motostoke." Marley gave a small, nostalgic sigh. "The clankin' of gears, the ringin' of bells. Oh, and when the Gym Challenge begins, the gym's just on fire! I'd try to get a seat whenever ol' Kabu gets a challenger." he gave a small chuckle. Ah, memories. He couldn't help but wonder how the league over there was right now, after these years.
And then, their attention was drawn to a Slowpoke, wandering onto the path in front of them. Well...this was certainly an interesting find. Marley tilted his head, watching it drop the berry it was carrying in its mouth and look up at them with big, adorable, dopey eyes. That was the thing with Slowpokes. You either wanted to punt them, or hug them. They were so stupidly adorable.
As Aster cooed over the little guy, Marley walked over to pick up the better it dropped. He glanced over at the Slowpoke's tail, curious if it was about to drop off or something. After all, Slowpoke tails did make for good eating (they grow back you savages!)

"The Gyms in Galar allow people t' watch? Johto's Gyms were usually private events, the challenger'd come up an' just challenge whoever whenever they could. There wasn't even a specific order ya had to challenge 'em in." Aster seemed pretty interested in how things worked in Galar; she'd never been there and knew little to nothing about the huge country.
The Slowpoke, giving Aster the big ol' doe eyes, suddenly lost track of what it was doing and went blank again, tilting its head with a confused, dopey noise. "Aw, she's cute. Are ya tryin' t' get t' the water, there?" Aster pointed at the nearest river, the Slowpoke looked the other way, and Aster gave her a gentle nudge to get her attention, pointing again at the nearby river. She tilted her head and looked back up at Aster, not realizing she was pointing at all.
"Huh.. All Slowpokes're like this, huh?" She said to Marley with a chuckle, gently lifting up the pink otter Pokemon and carrying her the short distance to the water. She set her down facing the water and gave her little tail a nudge, and the Slowpoke, after much deliberating, or just zoning out again for about fifteen seconds, finally saw the water and waded in, swimming away downstream.
In Aster's bag, two of the Poke Balls containing eggs started to glow bright.
"Really now?" Marley replied, giving a small chuckle, "In Galar, gym battles are held in huge arenas, televised around the country! Then again, when you've got pokemon Dynammaxin' all over the place, you want plenty of room." he gave a small shrug, "But yeah, noticed the gym run here's a bit more lax. You don't even need to be endorsed to take part." He was honestly a little surprised by that when he learned it. But, well, it allowed him to do as he pleased.
Then the topic went back to the Slowpoke. Marley chuckled. "Who knows. Maybe she was enraptured wit' ya. Not every day you get to see a lovely firming lass." he chuckled, half joking. I mean, Aster was attractive after all.
He then noticed something in her pack. Something glowing. "Erm, Aster. About those eggs ya got..."

"Huh?" Aster shifted her bag to see that, indeed, her eggs were hatching! She opened up the top of her bag and grabbed all three, releasing them onto the ground. The first one, the bright yellow with black marks, cracked and glowed bright, shaking, and revealing an Elekid that looked like he was bigger than the egg had been. The second egg glowed until a Murkrow appeared, giving a call and shaking out his feathers. The third egg apparently wasn't quite ready yet, and Aster gently placed it back into her bag in its ball.
"Aw, they're cute! This Murkrow's bigger 'n my Iris, an' I've never seen this'un before." Aster quickly located the Pokemon on her phone's Pokedex feature to find out that it was a baby Electric-type. "Hm.. He's cute, but I'm not sure I've got a place for 'im on mah ranch." She reached out and picked up the new Pokemon, letting the Murkrow step up onto her wrist and lifting the Elekid into her arms. "I'll raise 'im for a bit an' see. Who knows?"
Marley stepped back, watching as two out of the three eggs hatched before their eyes. Indeed, one of them was a Murkrow, and even though it was newly hatched, it was already bigger than Iris. He gave the Murkrow an apologetic smile, as if to say 'tough break'. The next was, surprisingly enough, an Elekid. Well, that certainly was an interesting find. "An Elekid eh? Not bad, especially when they grow up into Electabuzz," He thought for a moment and shrugged, "Well, they can always make good security. Make sure they protect your flocks and all that." It was just a suggestion though. Whether she found a use for him or not was up to her.
He glanced at the last egg as it was put away. One can only wonder what the last egg would be.

It turned out that Marley and Aster wouldn't have to wait much longer to find out what was in the third egg; no sooner than Aster shouldered her bag again, ready to keep moving, the third egg glowed bright enough to give her bag a bright white aura, and the Pokemon inside appeared before she could set the thing back down and take the egg out. When she lifted the flap, a tiny ship's wheel poked out, with handles around the edges, a compass for one eye and a shattered glass circle for the other. Aster nearly dropped her bag from the sudden super heavy weight of the baby, which was shocking since it was just hatched and she didn't think a baby Pokemon of any kind would weigh that much. She set her bag down gently and let the Pokemon out, and the child floated up out of her bag, dragging its huge seaweed-covered anchor behind it.
"Hi there, uh. Little guy." The Pokemon was super heavy and was about three and a half feet tall after its anchor was visible, and it eyed Aster with apprehension. "It's okay, we won't hurt ya. I'm yer trainer."
The Pokemon looked Aster over, glanced over at Marley, then back at Aster. It seemed super uncertain. "I carried yer egg 'round with me all day so you could hatch an' meet everyone. These two hatched jus' before you did." Aster gestured to the Murkrow on her arm and the Elekid she'd had to place back on the ground, which was now holding on to her pant leg with one hand. The Pokemon closed its eye and nodded, then floated over and bumped Aster's leg as gently as it could with its anchor. The movement still hurt, as this Pokemon was literally just hatched and didn't know its own strength yet, but Aster was content that it wouldn't be scared of her and didn't show that she was harmed by the bump.
After consulting her Pokedex, she found that the Pokemon was a Ghost and Grass type Pokemon called Dhelmise. She was mildly surprised it wasn't Steel type, but was very, very relieved that the Pokemon had been tiny, as apparently an average-sized Dhelmise was almost thirteen feet tall and weighed way more than she or her bag would have been able to hold.
"Uh.. Anyway, shall we keep on walkin'?" She motioned to Marley, smiling sheepishly. Her new Pokemon was hanging about by her other ankle, while the Elekid eyed it approvingly.
Marley couldn't help but chuckle. So, the new arrival was a Dhelmise huh? Well, that was surprising. And she was a heavy baby. As the little ghost nudged against Aster's leg, he had the impression it might have hurt, but she was holding it together for the little one. Marley approved. Meanwhile, Marley's Gible, who had been watching curiously, ran over to the little pokemon, waving its small, stubby arm in a greeting. "Well well," Marley chuckled, "Just born and already they're making friends." He crouched down, petting his Gible, which gave a small squeak of joy. Dammit, even a tough guy like Marley had a soft spot for the wee ones.
As Aster asked if they should keep walking, Marley stood up tall, giving the farm girl a smile. "Sure. We should probably reach the town soon. I don't know about you, but I ain't the best cook, and I don't want to traumatize the wee ones." He gave a small, self deprecating chuckle. He knew he wasn't that good at cooking, if his own experiments were anything to go by.
