Updates Summary and Compensation
& The Great Geode Opening
Phew! We've done a LOT over the past week or two, haven't we? To help everyone keep up, here's a summary of recent events! We're also updating classes, so some characters will receive a bit of "compensation" to help them moving forward. See class notes at the end!
Summary of Changes
The Great Geode Opening
You've been saving your Geodes from mining, ever wondering if they would ever be redeemable. Some of you have been saving since November! But today is finally the day! While new Geodes won from today forward will contain the 6 materials listed above, Geodes opened in this thread can contain any of 12 different materials used for crafting! We won't ask what Wood or Wool was doing inside a rock if you won't!
Simply post in this thread on each character who has Geodes telling us how many you have, and a mod will take them and roll your materials for them. There may be some delay in sending due to the trading key getting bogged down, but we'll do our best to get them to you as soon as possible!
Class Changes
Finally, it's time to discuss all the changes we're making to classes. There have been a few nerfs, we admit, but a lot more buffs, and we really hope you'll like the changes overall! We tried to make sure every class was better balanced and could really feel like their proper flavor right out of the gate. So let's dive in!
TRAINERS
Compensation: If you have earned a gym badge with a Trainer, you may post below to claim an extra helping of Prize Money. Apply The Very Best when considering if you've recently qualified for Move Slots.
COORDINATORS
Compensation: Apply The Very Best when considering if you've recently qualified for Move Slots. (Rising Superstar would have been comp-worthy but no one has won a Contest or Showcase yet.)
RANGERS
Compensation: Choose your Strength, Agility, or Profession (must have at least 15 points already in what you choose) and add 10 points by posting which you want in this thread. Also, Partner Utility and Gainfully Employed can be used this month.
BREEDERS
Compensation: Post in this thread to receive free Camping Gear and 2 Secret Base items. The items you can choose are the +5 to skill items from this thread.
FARMERS
Compensation: Post in this thread to receive a set of tier 1 berries and apricorns.
CHEFS
Compensation: Post in this thread, and receive the Creator's Start items (or 150 Pen and the ingredients if you already have a Portable Pantry).
CRIMINALS
Compensation: None. However, you may continue to gain double Crime from Criminal Aptitude until the end of this week. (May 16 at 11:59pm site time)
RESEARCHERS
NURSES
Compensation: Post in this thread to have your new nursing partner rolled and given to you! You may also claim Gainfully Employed this month.
WHEW. That's a lot, huh? We hope everyone likes the changes overall, and thanks as always for being awesome!
Summary of Changes
- The new Official NPC battle system was released, detailed in full here.
- Wonder Trades now guarantee a Shiny if you trade a Shiny or Special color Pokemon.
- Fishing was implemented. You can now catch 18 different types of fish-- 9 freshwater and 9 saltwater-- which can be used in Cooking.
- Cooking was implemented, along with an ingredients gacha.
- The Mining skill was added to the guidebook, along with a method to mine ICly in threads.
- On the note of mining, the mining mini-game will only be playable every two weeks from now on. If you played last week and haven't yet played this week you still can, but starting next week a week break is required between playing.
- The Luck skill was added to the guidebook, and now has official solid impact on rolls rather than being at mod discretion.
- All our Mini-Mods were promoted to full Mod status to thank them for all their hard work.
- The Maple Gym was added, and Ash will be added by tomorrow most likely.
- The Berry Crossbreeding list was made public to encourage and help farming.
- Farming was greatly expanded with the arrival of animal ranching and crop farming for cooking.
- Discovery threads can now be "chained" for continuing plot lines and increasing rewards. Discoveries now use a form when starting them.
- We got a new bot in Discord called Mod Mail. You can DM it to get in touch with all of staff at once for any concerns you don't want to voice publicly.
- The Pokemon that can use Aura list was greatly expanded and officially defined in the Guidebook.
- All classes now have 3 skills they can choose for their class skill bonus, where before some only had 2. (Note: this refers to the +15 skill bonus characters get upon creation, NOT the abilities listed in the class section below. Everyone of each class gets all their class's abilities.)
- You may now receive Move Slots as a reward from the Training Grounds.
COMPENSATION: If you would have qualified for move slots in the past two weeks, say so in a post in this thread and you can take them. Trainers and Coordinators, see class info for more. - Breeding has changed; detailed with the class stuff below.
- NPC trainers will start carrying money and items starting in the next day or few as prizes to win when you defeat them, and the trainer encounter rate will go up a little.
- Geodes can now be bought in the shop for 50 Pen and will automatically open into one of 6 crafting materials. Which leads us to...

- Warden's Start - You start with an extra Pokemon rolled randomly from anything that can be Lv5, and your class skill bonus is +25 instead of +15. [Added skill bonus]
- Friendly Spirit - You gain +10% capture rate for befriending Pokemon. [unchanged]
- Partner Utility - Twice per month, you may teach a Pokemon a TR or Move Tutor move without the need for a TR item or Tutor Guide. These can go to the same Pokemon or two different Pokemon. [new!]
- Gainfully Employed - Once per month, you can claim money from the Payroll Office based on Rank. (300 Pen at Rank 1, + 50 per additional Rank). [new!]

- Eggcellent Luck - You can do the Egg Gacha twice per week. [unchanged]
- Egg Efficiency - You can breed twice per month instead of once, and are guaranteed 2 eggs minimum. [see below]
Egg Efficiency was one of our biggest changes. A lot of people weren't happy with how breeding was member-account-wide, and how that made having exactly one (1) breeder a major asset while also making more than one pointless. So here's what we're doing! Starting now, you may breed up to 5 times per month across all your characters. Breeders are limited to twice a month, and other characters are limited to once a month. Members are limited to twice a week tops. This means more characters = more breedings, but only up to a reasonable point, so that there's no room to abuse it and no disproportionate advantage to those who can handle very high numbers of characters. We hope people will appreciate this change!

[new!]
- Jack of All Trades - Twice a month, you may choose one of the following: (1) Earn double Pen from a job or quest reward, or (2) choose any one roll and add +10. If you roll, you must note in your post you are using the bonus before a Mod replies. If a Mod rolls, such as with Catch posts, you can use your bonus by informing the Mods, who will edit the post with the roll. [new!]
- Live Off the Land - You can fit 2 extra items in your Secret Base. At Rank 3, you can fit 3 extra items. At Rank 5, you can fit 4 extra items. [new!]

FARMERS
- Grower's Start - You start with a free Small Farm, and a full set of tier 1 berries and apricorns. [added berries and apricorns]
Farming Aptitude - Doubles skill gains on Farming.[removed]- Fertilizer - When you plant crops in your Crop Field, you may choose 1 plot per Rank. Chosen plots always yield maximum harvest. [new!]
- Return to Seed - When you plant berries in your Berry Grove, you are guaranteed at least 2 berries in every harvest, with at least one being the variety planted back. (That is, they will never all be crossbreeds, but you'll never lose your last berry for breeding.) [new!]

CHEFS
Special Recipe - Use 2 Apricorns instead of 4 when making PokeBalls.[removed]Cooking Aptitude - Doubles skill gain when cooking.[removed]- Creator's Start - You start with a free Portable Pantry and 15 random ingredients. [new!]
- Culinary Secret - When cooking PokeBlocks, you use the same recipe as everyone else, but it comes out more refined somehow. Instead of naming a type, you may name 1-3 evolutionary lines to try to attract for 5 spawns per PokeBlock. [new!]
- Locally Sourced - You pay 25 Pen instead of 75 for the ingredients gacha, and may do it once a week instead of every two weeks! [new!]
Compensation: Post in this thread, and receive the Creator's Start items (or 150 Pen and the ingredients if you already have a Portable Pantry).
CRIMINALS
- Imposter - Once a month, copy another class's ability, excluding certain ones. [unchanged, other than being updated for new abilities; full list will be in the guidebook when updated]
Criminal Aptitude - Doubles skill gain upon criming.[removed]- Smooth Criminal - Your fame/infamy is unknown to others unless you want it to be known. Rangers may make a roll to recognize a criminal by rolling 51 or higher (for NPC rangers or if players are unsure if they want recognition or not, etc). [new!]
- Shakedown - You gain double all rewards from NPC trainers, but doesn't work on Officials like Gym Leaders or in Contests. [new!]

RESEARCHERS
Thirst for Knowledge - You can have 2 open Discovery threads.[removed]- Archaeologist - You receive a free Mining Kit, +1 extra treasure from the mining minigame, and half price on fossil revivals. [changed from Historical Appreciation, which was only half price fossils]
- Genetic Memory - You can attempt to research a move that a Pokemon's other evolutionary relatives can learn, or that its evolution line could learn in a previous generation. To do this, cBNrA0qn 3 times, once per post; you must roll a total of 100 or more combined. Upon success, the Pokemon learns that move. If you roll a natural 100 on any of the three rolls, you research two moves instead of one, and they come in two new move slots instead of taking up the old ones. Research is limited to one thread at a time, once per Pokemon per thread, two attempts per page, one success per thread, and one success per week. There is no limit to Pokemon attempted per thread, or to unsuccessful attempts. [new!]

- First Aid - You can write 300 words of treating wounds to fully recover one Pokemon's Energy and heal that rank of Injury (for example, a Rank 1 Nurse can heal a Hurt Pokemon, a Rank 2 Nurse can heal a Bruised Pokemon, etc). Starting at Rank 3, you can also revive fainted Pokemon with 1 Energy, increased by 1 per additional Rank. You cannot heal Permanent Injuries however. [added reviving fainted 'mon at Rank 3]
Healing Spirit - Nurses receive a +3 HP / +1 Energy bonus to healing from items. [removed]- Healer's Start - You start with a second Pokemon specially bred by the Pokemon Center Association. This Pokemon will be randomly rolled from a select pool and will always have 1-2 HP or Status healing moves, even if the Pokemon normally could not learn it until a higher level or even until evolving. [new!]
