Andrew's beloved starter

Personality: Inari is a friendly and easygoing young vixen, with a bit of a motherly side and a strong loyal streak. Having been taught and raised to be a service pokemon by the breeder who hatched her, she understands Andrew's social anxiety very well, and is attentive to his stress levels. She knows how to approach Andrew when he is not doing well, as well as how to best calm him down.

Her mild nature means that though she can be quite energetic, she otherwise isn't very hyperactive, calms down easily when she does get excited, and also is slow to frustrate or anger. The only one thing that can really set her off are those who are unkind to her trainer, or who she otherwise deems as a threat. In such situations, her Arcanine heritage comes out in full; leading her to be aggressive towards the offender, and acting more like a growlithe than she does a vulpix!

The one thing she enjoys most, is getting her fur brushed and trimmed by Andrew - finding it quite soothing - though she doesn't care as much for getting her claws clipped. The idea of going into contests is also enticing to her, and she sometimes takes the time to practice her moves and their flair during downtime, so that she can be ready when the time comes for Andrew to enter her into a contest.

History: Inari was born to an Arcanine and Ninetales duo - under the care of a breeder who specialized in breeding and raising service pokemon. She was a gift to Andrew for his 15th birthday, having been bought by his mother as an emotional support pokemon; someone to help ease Andrew's anxieties, and help him build some confidence.

However, over the course of the past year and a half, Inari ended up being much more than that to Andrew; the two quickly becoming fast friends, and bonding closely. Though Inari still acts as a source of reassurance for Andrew, the duo both regard each other as best friends and partners; especially now that they have since set off on the road, with the intention to participate in the contests of the Arciel region...

Personality: Claude is as bold as bold can be, and perhaps to a fault. Tired of being small and weak, he's decided that now's the time to get strong - and the best way to do it, is to fight everyone and everything he sees...

... Except for the fact that he, quite literally, is down to fight everyone and everything. This can include inanimate objects, humans, and even pokemon who are far bigger and stronger than he is. If something catches his eye and is flashy enough for Claude to perceive them as a challenge, or if someone otherwise tries to interfere in his attempts to square up against others? They're likely to get this fighty crustacean aggressively clicking at them.

During moments where he isn't trying to pick a fight with someone, he enjoys hanging out on someone's back, shoulder, or head - seemingly enjoying being able to see things from higher up. As a result, he is often seen perched atop Inari's back - the vulpix being just large enough to carry him without any issue - and seems to have a begrudging respect for her, after she showed her prowess against him when they first met. (He does want to have a round 2 at some point, though.)

Larimar, too, is another pokemon that he seems to not be interested in fighting. It is hard to say exactly what about the Spheal endeared Claude to him, but it seems as though they have a mutual respect as fellow water-types; regarding each others as brothers in arms of sorts.

The notion of contests is curious to him as well - a way for him to show off and be worthy of respect without necessarily needing to be high level. Though he'll always be a little more suited to combat than the stage, he is willing to square up on other perceived rivals in a different way.

Personality: Larimar, to put it simply, is an utter diva. For being such a cute and cuddly looking Spheal, this seal thinks himself a prodigy, whose moves are a step beyond all others of his kind. He believes that he is meant to be a star on the stage despite what others may say, and is prone to longwinded and flowery monologues to himself when given the opportunity.

On top of this, he is vain about his appearances - wanting to keep his fur as clean and glossy as always. As a result, he prefers hopping over rolling like most Spheal - to keep his fur from picking anything up on the ground - and grows angry if someone purposefully makes him dirty, or otherwise messes up his appearance. If he becomes dirty by circumstance or accident, he oftentimes seeks out the closest body of water to wash himself, or uses his Water Gun and Aqua Ring moves to clean himself off.

Despite his haughty and smug air, though... Larimar is also a bit of a dork, and still a bit of a child. He is naive and sometimes clueless, and thus far has only ever actually practiced one routine of moves for himself to show off. He struggles to regain his composure if thrown off, often resulting in him freezing up or otherwise becoming extremely awkward. On top of this, he is a hopeless romantic, who is prone to flirting with pokemon he percieves as beautiful or cute - only to become disappointed, if and when they reject his advances, or if he is otherwise interrupted.

Larimar is also prone to both admiring his betters, and being jealous of them, all at once. This oftentimes leads him to try and learn from pokemon who he recognizes as his better, with the ulterior motive of wanting to one-up them when he is able to learn their tricks and tips...! However, he often finds himself barking up the wrong tree, and trying to learn moves that he can't actually learn, when they catch his eye.

Despite all this, however... Larimar is capable of respect for others. He appreciates Andrew for taking him in and helping teach and raise him, and enjoys being groomed by his trainer. Additionally, he looks to Inari for guidance in learning new combos as well as tips for the stage - though may also bear a small amount of attraction towards her, as he does many beautiful or cute pokemon. Claude, too, he seems to enjoy - regarding the fellow water type as a brother-in-arms of sorts.

Those who do look past his dorky yet haughty and vain exterior quickly find him to be just a kid finding his footing, while probably admiring one too many smug shonen anime rivals. He is quite eager to please despite this, and longs for nothing more than to be the center of attention and applause one day.

Extra:
- Larimar is afraid of the unknown; though it can sometimes be misinterpreted as a fear of the dark, or a fear of the deep. He doesn't like what he can't figure out or understand, and it tends to unnerve him as a result, despite his best efforts to stay composed.
- He really wants to wear an accessory of some sort, but is incapable of making up his mind on any one given accessory.
- He is also reluctant at the idea of evolving, due to wondering how it might affect his appearance. At most, he might accept evolving into a Sealeo; though evolving into Walrein might require him being able to see other Walrein for himself first.
