Juniper Flint Savage, PhD
Age 28 Birthday July 30, 1991 Gender Demi-Fem Pronouns She/They Orientation Grayromantic Graysexual Faction Freelancer Class Researcher Rank Filing Manager Occupation Post-Doctoral Researcher Hometown Rustboro, Hoenn Current Residence Ivy Town, Arciel | Tell us a little about yourself. How would you describe yourself? Juniper was filing her nails as she sat across from the interviewer. Glancing up as the question was finally asked, she shrugged her shoulders and looked back down again. "I'm a 28 year old Post-Doc at a university in Ivy Town with not enough time on her hands to be having these kinds of trivial conversations," she answered. The Interviewer frowned and fought the urge to sigh. Why did they always get the feisty ones? "Ah, right... says the one just now getting her license in this region..." the interviewer quipped. What could they say but that they were a little frustrated at this point. Juni stopped filing her nails looked up and frowned for a few seconds in silence. "I don't see why your customs office couldn't just take my international trainer number," she shot back. The interviewer muttered something back about everyone doing this kind of interview. Juniper sighed folding her arms and leaning further back into the chair. "Alright, I get it. Go on already." Why are you interested in the class you've chosen? A look of confusion flashed into Juni's eyes right then. "What?" she asked for a moment dumbfounded by the very question. "I have a PhD in Thermodynamics, and I've published 5 articles in peer reviewed journals..." She trailed off a moment before making a face and tilting her head to one side. "What else would I be?" The interviewer had to wonder if they'd hit a nerve or just managed to confuse someone who thought their ambitions in life were obvious. Why are you interested in training in Arciel? Why not another region? Juniper adjusted her glasses some. "I was offered a position here, and I plan to do research here. After considering other regions with different programs for researchers, I found this one was best suited to my interests." Never mind that this was also the only one she had heard back from among the hundreds of applications she had sent out. Why was research such a difficult field, sigh. What do you consider your best attributes? They can be physical, mental, social, or anything else. A hint of color touched Juniper's features as the question was asked, and she quickly glanced sideways to avoid the interviewer's eyes. "Ah, my intellect, obviously..." she answered. "And my ability to think critically." If not exactly quickly. How long had she been working on that other manuscript for, now? Seven months? She really needed to sit down and get it done. A thought for another time, though. What do you consider your worst attributes? Be honest, now! "I...." Juni stared for a moment with a strange look on her features, as if she wasn't sure how to respond but even more: how not to respond. A hand went to scratch the back of her head as she took a long minute to think about that. "I guess I do tend to overthink things now and again.... and it's easy to get distracted..." Had she been binge watching Netflix lately? Yes yes she had. "But I do get my work done on time." What was your childhood like? How was school? A small huff escaped from Jun. "I grew up on a farm outside of Rustboro with an older brother and two little brothers," she answered. "You can imagine what being the only girl was like." Yet she was smiling as if perhaps the strain in her voice was nothing more than a farce. "School was... a one room school house kind of thing," she went on after a short moment. "I could pretty much learn at my own pace, but I was outpacing everyone left and right. I transferred to Rustoboro on a scholarship and went into the math and science academy there for... part of high school." She trailed off for a moment before shaking her head again. "I went to college a little after that and became a research assistant before getting my PhD." A pause. "That sufficient?" How is your relationship with your family? She guessed not. "Ah... it's not like anything's wrong or anything," she started with that preface. "But we're not really close." A pause. "I still keep in contact with them, send Christmas cards and the like." Another pause. "I... should probably check in on them now actually. It's getting to be winter huh..." She mumbled a few things to herself and seemed to produce a pen and paper from seemingly nowhere before starting to scribble down notes for herself. "Anyways..." What do you like to do for fun? A guarded look was given, and she chewed her lower lip for a few seconds before speaking. "I like to read," she answered. The interviewer quirked a brow as if trying to discern why she had been so hesitant to say that. "And write." Ok? Juni had mumbled something, and the interviewer asked her to repeat it. "Romance novels." What are your feelings on romance? A sqeak-squack sound escaped from Juni all at once. Had they just... Did they ... Had they??? Just not heard her say.... "Uhm..." Juni coughed and shook her head to clear it again. "I... don't really have luck with romance," she answered bluntly glancing sideways and away again. "I wouldn't mind but it's.... not really a thing for me." She shrugged her shoulders and seemingly feigned indifference. What are your goals for the future? Short-term and long-term. Juni pushed her glasses up again and grinned. "To publish as much as possible, of course," she answered. "And get my way up to Assistant Professor." That was... much more fiery and much more ambitious than the interviewer knew what to do with right then. It was as if for a brief moment she'd swapped places with someone else. Strange but... it was kind of nice to know she some things going for her. "Anything else?" "Ah... I guess get out more," Juni answered somewhat flippantly thereafter. She had a nasty habit of secluding herself in her work, and she knew it. "Maybe do some traveling here and there depending." Depending how she could swing it with her research, that was. If you could be a Pokemon, what species or typing would you choose and why? Juniper hesitated. Raising a finger to her chin, she looked thoughtful for a moment before proceeding. "Pretty... sure I'd be a Ground type... being... well... grounded." She grinned and looked up at the interviewer who immediately groaned in response. A laugh escaped from Juni. "But I do sort of feel a connection to the earth and the fires below it. It's why I chose to study Thermo..." Among... other reasons. What do Pokemon mean to you? Juni hummed a bit as she considered that question. "They're partners in a series fo ongoing goals," she decided with a small head nod. "For instance, my old Growlithe, Fetch, took care of the farm mostly growing up." She leaned her head from one side to the other and then repeated the stretch on the other side. "Others can assist me when I'm out and about in the wilds or what have you- protectors; that's the word I was looking for." She paused and folded her arms in front of herself. "But yeah." Anything else you'd like to tell us about before you go? "Ah, uhm, nope." Juniper shook her head a bit. "Now can I get going?" The interviewer hesitated checking the questions a second time over again to make sure that there weren't any that were missed. They had a feeling once she was out of there, she'd be long gone. Ok, ok good that was all there was then. "Good." |
Appearance
Height 5'05" / 165 cm Build Muscular Hair Color Auburn Eye Color Red | Juni has an overall muscular type body. Her gains from workout out are much more pronounced than others, but she also tends to lose them just as quickly. Her skin ranges from a healthy pinkish hue to something pale and sickly depending on how many hours she's been working. She doesn't bother with makeup or jewelry, though there is an old Magma M tattoo on her right shoulder, often hidden by the sleeve of her shirt. Juni wears both glasses and contacts swapping depending on how tired her eyes are. When she's really trying to impress, though, she'll wear contacts for extended periods of time. Her range of fashion tends to be jeans, a reasonable button up or t-shirt, and a jacket of one form or another. In the lab, it's a lab coat. Outside, it's often her orange trench coat. Aura June's aura is like a sunset over a beach scene. Deep blues and purples are at the top while warmer reds and oranges are at the bottom. There are flecks of black here and there that pop up now and again but are otherwise easily missed. |

Juniper was born and raised on a farm between Rustoboro City and Verdanturf Town. She was rather close with her father and older brother but often struggled to relate to and connect with her mother and younger brothers. She did very well in school when she went, such that she was able to get a scholarship to Rustoboro’s math and science academy. There she did very well and took up Pokemon training on the side / for recreation. She was close to her Torchic partner, and she quickly got a small team going. They tackled the gym when she was thirteen, and while they did rather well, they still lost. Juni decided to take a break and focus more on her academics which had suffered during this time. Her interests became more pronounced as she learned more about environmental health, and after reaching out to a local scientist about it, she found herself wrapped up in Team Magma’s plans and goals. She worked mostly as a research assistant and sometimes as a grunt when absolutely necessary. When they were taken down, though, she was given only a few options. She worked for Interpol as an intern while she finished school, both to pay back her debt to society and to move on with her life. She was close with several mentor figures who encouraged her to continue to pursue her studies and become a great scientist someday. Despite their help and assurances, she always did harbor mixed feelings regarding their actions against Magma. She went back to college in Rustoboro and then did her masters education in Mossdeep City. She was hesitant at first but then left the region for Unova to do her PhD. Doing so made it a bit harder to keep in touch with the family, but in many ways it smoothed some tensions between them a bit. She’s just finished her PhD recently and took a Post-Doc position in Arciel rather begrudgingly. Pokemon
