word count: 188 Elizabeth found herself in the upper floor of the old mansion and the sounds of the ball downstairs seemed to fade away. The ranger had heard there was a maze of sorts for the more daring of guests and had thought it might be a fun venture to undertake. It had been awhile since she'd done a haunted maze. The last one she could recall was back home. That one had been outdoors and had been rather wild. She was curious what awaited them in this one.
And it only seemed proper to bring a ghost along to a haunted maze. Loki lived for such nights and the mismagius was almost giddy. He playfully darted back and forth behind Liz, vanishing from time to time then reappearing right in front of her in an attempt to startle the ranger. Liz of course was used to his antics and ignored him, for the most part. She approached the foreboding door, then paused a moment giving Loki a sideways glance, before slowly opening the door and stepping inside. The mismagius followed eager for what they would find awaiting them inside. Trick-or-Treat Maze, Room 1

You have entered the room. What will you do? You enter a dimly lit room with three doors. In front of each door is an Eeveelution, one Vaporeon, one Flareon, and one Jolteon. A backlit plaque near the entrance reads: "Two tell lies. One tells the truth." Make a perception roll to see if you can determine anything. (This is not tied to a Skill, it's just a flat die roll.)

word count: 196 The ranger stepped into the darker room with caution just in case something decided to pop out at them. The girl let her eyes adjust a moment before scanning the doors before her. Suddenly from out of seemingly nowhere, Loki shot past her, just brushing her gently with his wispy figure. Liz grunted and shooed him away.
"Okay now would you quit that and pay attention?" Liz scolded through their psychic connection. Loki just cackled and did a flip in the air. The mismagius hadn't been in his evolved state for too long but he still maneuvered just like his misdreavus self. Liz shook her head, almost dislodging the oversized hat—with zoroark like hair and ears—that made up the brunt of her costume. She gestured toward the doors with a raised brow. Loki stuck his tongue out at her but drifted over so they could read the plaque.
"Two tell lies, one tells the truth. Huh, that sound familiar." She pursed her lips and scanned the doors for any sort of clue while trying to remember what the saying reminded her off. Loki lazily fluttered around her head not exactly interested in the riddle. g27miRCOp_ Trick or Treat, Room 1

word count: 166 Well nothing was jumping out at her or coming to mind. Loki had flipped upside down now and was floating around the ceiling making faces at Liz behind her back. The girl cupped her chin with a hand and frowned as she continued to examine the doors.
"Well Jolteon, Flareon and Vaporeon are all evolutions of Eevee." She stated aloud now, attempting to organize her thoughts vocally. "Vaporeon, as a water type, is inherently weak to Jolteon. And Flareon, as a fire type, is inherently weak to Vaporeon. But Jolteon doesn't have an inherent weakness to either Vaporeon or Flareon. Not that that would have much of anything to do with lies though." She pursed her lips still thinking.
Loki however was completely bored with this whole bit. The mismagius sneered at the back of Liz's head then shot forward rushing passed the ranger like a blur. Before Liz could stop him Loki had yanked on the Jolteon door just wanting to see what would happen. Trick-or-Treat Maze, Room 1 - Trying Jolteon Door

An event has occurred! As you open the door, the other two Eeveelutions revert to a Zorua and Zoroark! The foxes all cheer for you. Onto the next room!
You have entered the room. What will you do? You enter a room lit by a single torch in its center. Six candles line the walls. On the left wall is a green, a red, and a purple candle. On the right wall is a yellow, an orange, and a blue. Each candle is also labeled for the colorblind. A backlit plaque reads: "Do not fear the storm. It comes after."

word count: 458 Liz stared at the door a moment then looked to the two dark foxes. She grinned then chuckled a little. Well that was lucky, she had no idea if her train of logic had actually helped or she'd just gotten lucky. Typically when Loki was around luck was not on her side.
The mismagius almost looked disappointed when that was all that happened. Liz playfully batted at the witchy ghost who vanished from sight to avoid her swing. The ghost's cackle could be heard from the void and the girl just rolled her eyes. She moved into the second room cautiously and examined the scene before her.
"Are you going to actually help this time or keep being a nuisance?" Liz inquired of the void. Quietly Loki appeared behind her then darted forward and tugged on the long reddish hair of the hat she wore nearly taking it with him. Liz quickly grabbed hold of the ear hat and gave an irritable sigh. "Guess that means no." She stated then stuck her own tongue out at the mismagius. This of course seemed to delight the ghost who did a loop-de-loop then fluttered over to the candles.
"Hey! Hold your ponyta and at least let me look at it will ya"? The brunette muttered as she followed him to the candles. "Do not fear the storm, it comes after." The girl read the plaque as she looked the display over for any clues. The candles had instantly brought to mind the ghost pokemon Litwick and she wondered if perhaps the purple and blue were such disguised. Of course that likely didn't matter as far as the riddle went.
"Well as the saying goes, the calm before the storm, though I'm not sure how that applies here." The girl frowned as she waved a hand over the flame of one candle. Loki was about to try and extinguish one but she managed to stop him this time with a harsh mental smack. The ghost blew a raspberry at her and whined.
"I've a feeling blowing them out is 'the storm'. So I guess it's just a sort them by color? So, hmm, well Blue and Red make Purple, Blue and Yellow make Green and Red and Yellow make Orange. Though it'd have to be a circle to all properly be in order, unless it's a rainbow though aren't there technically seven colors in a rainbow?" She mused aloud as she carefully began ordering the candles, eyeing the blue and purple ones with some suspicion. Loki rolled his eyes, he'd always believed the girl tended to over think things. Liz finished arranging the candles, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple. Well now they just had to wait and see what happened. An event has occurred! The door lights up with a rainbow glow before sliding open. Congratulations! Onto the next room!
You have entered the room. What will you do? You enter a room which at first appears eerily empty save for an ornate coffin lying in its center. You hear a faint sound from above, and realize the ceiling is littered with sleeping, hanging Golbat. There are three small puzzles attached to the coffin. Make a Dexterity roll so see if you can successfully align all the proper pieces. You only need to solve as many puzzles as there are players.

word count: 250 As she gave the colorful candles a final look, her eyes widened and she smacked her head. "Bah! Well, duh, rainbows come after a storm. Why didn't you say something?" The ranger shot Loki a dirty look and the ghost just cackled and did a backflip. Liz sighed then turned to the door into the next room.
"Why does everything have to be so dark?" She thought to herself as she gazed around the room. She eyed the coffin in the center now wondering if something might jump out of it. Though the maze had been more about riddles than spooks so far. Loki flitted about the room upside down as he stared up at the golbat. A devilish grin flicked over his face but he could feel Liz glaring at him.
"Leave. Them. Alone." Liz instructed with telepathic umph. Loki whined and pouted as he stuck his tongue out at her. She motioned to the coffin. "Come help me out with this and ignore the golbat." She stated eying the ghost with a no nonsense gaze. The mismagius rolled his eyes and floated over, though for this the ghost couldn't do much to help, not that he'd been any help anyway.
The ranger carefully looked over the puzzles on the coffin sides. It seemed pretty straight forward, put the pieces where they belonged. Cautiously she started fiddling with one puzzle hoping to fit the pieces together properly without disturbing the golbat or anything that might be inside the coffin. An event has occurred! The puzzle clicks into a decent-looking place and opens up, revealing an Aspear Berry and a Leppa Berry inside. Onto the next room!
You have entered the room. What will you do? You enter a room littered with pumpkins! Small, medium, and large pumpkins cover the floor, without leaving a clear walkway. Several Pumpkaboo watch from the sidelines. Make 3 Dexterity rolls to see if you can navigate through the pumpkins without tripping on the vines and squishing any. The Pumpkaboo will probably forgive you if you can't make it completely, but still be careful.

word count: 358 The ranger fumbled terribly with the little puzzle pieces and finally had to remove one of her red finger tipped black gloves. She tucked it under an arm and finally managed to click the pieces into place. She blinked at the berries and grinned. "Well that's handy." She collected the berries then paused as she tried to figure out where to put them.
"Huh, I didn't think about bringing a bag. I hope this thing has pockets." She muttered as she smoothed out the black leggings on her lower half and adjusted the knee high black, red toed boots. Of course the form fitting leggings didn't have any pockets nor was there any potential room in the tight fitting boots. She pursed her lips then checked the silky black jacket that made up the upper half of her costume for any pockets. Her movements caused the fluffy fur mane around the neck of the jacket to brush against her nose and cause her to sneeze. But fortunately the well cut jacket did have a couple of narrow pockets in which to store the berries, without squishing them.
Once more she had to readjust the heavy hat, as Loki insisted on unsettling it every time he passed her. She'd remove it but then she'd have to carry around the long reddish ponytail which would be even more a nuisance. At least the delicate mask over her eyes was completely unintrusive. She'd opted for something simple on her face since she didn't like her vision obstructed.
Now that she was a little more comfortable, she followed the mismagius into the next room as the ghost had grown completely impatient with her fussing. Liz shook her head and scanned the new room. "Ah pumpkaboo. Huh, guess we'll have to watch where we step." She looked up at Loki then shook her head. "Right, I'll have to watch where I step. Just don't knock me over okay?" She stated giving the ghost a warning look.
Loki cackled and did a backflip as he watched her from the ceiling and made faces at her as the ranger attempted to carefully navigate the room.

An event has occurred! The Pumpkaboo are thrilled you didn't squish any of their friends! They're so happy they give you 5 Rare Candies! Onto the next room!
You have entered the room. What will you do? You enter a room that is lit only by a large moon-shaped light in the center of the ceiling, tiny LED stars that cover the rest of the ceiling like a night sky, and one dimly backlit plaque with instructions: "Pick a partner and sing".
A Midday, Midnight, and Dusk form Lycanroc sit around the room, howling at the false moon. Each has a small barrel hanging from their neck. Choose a Lycanroc and make a Performance roll!

word count: 231 "Oh thanks!" Liz stated with gratitude as she took the rare candies. She stuck them in the pocket with the berries, hoping there'd be plenty of room for anything else they happened to acquire in the maze. Loki hissed at his fellow ghosts then blew a raspberry as he darted after Liz and into the next room.
The ranger paused to read the plaque then turned toward the trio of Lycanroc. Ah, this was one of the alolan species, like Damara her rowlet. Liz was still getting familiar with the island region pokemon. Her home region had been a bit behind in their knowledge of pokemon and had only just been discovering the presence of unova region species. Though the rocky lupines were quite fascinating pokemon.
Liz looked over the three and figured might as well go with the midnight form, it had the right fit for the festivities. She looked at Loki who dropped down to shoulder level and circled the lycanroc curiously. "Okay so... singing?" She said uncertainty. Loki snickered then burst out singing in a loud, obnoxious voice causing Liz to cringe.
"Hey easy on the volume. Well I've never thought of myself as much of a singer. Any requests or shall we sing as the lycanroc?" She teased a little then cleared her throat and tried to follow the rock lupine's lead as Loki too joined in.

word count: 171 "Ack! Hey sorry Lycanroc!" Liz called as the rock lupines chased them out. Loki huffed and blew multiple raspberries at the lycanroc as he flitted back to Liz's side. The mismagius grumbled irritably, he was the only one allowed to harrass Liz and certainly didn't like being harassed himself.
"Ah, oh well, at least we got through the first three rooms. We were doing pretty well. But I think we should avoid any singing for awhile." The ranger chuckled causing Loki to throw her a dirty look of his own. His singing was just fine thank you very much. The girl sighed and shook her head. Well at least now she wouldn't have to worry about running out of pocket space.
"Come on, we might as well call it a night. Be nice to get back into something a little more comfortable." She stated with a chuckle as she made her way back downstairs, Loki trailed after her but shot the maze door a final glare before it vanished from view.
