The masquerade ball. Koray had been looking forward to this event for a while, mostly because it was a night perfect for dancing. With as much as he loved to dance, there was no way he would miss this for the world. His outfit was inspired by none other than Dusknoir. Mummy like bandages covered his legs while a long black trench coat with tails that touched the ground covered most of him. An equally long white frilly blouse was the underneath the coat. A neck piece with long spikes, a single red pendant, and eye barrets completed the ensemble. More bandages covered his neck while a black and gold phantom of the opera mask completed the ensemble.
His brown hair was dyed black and rather messy all things considered, but it was purposeful and would no doubt get messed up from all the dancing regardless. With Rowan, his shiny Phantump floating nearby, Koray was sure that this party would be a blast. Now all he had to find was someone to dance with. Well, there was no time like the present. "Shall we dance?" he asked one of the fellow ball goers with a bow, presenting his hand palm up to them. Perhaps it was a bit formal, but at the very least, it would give him an answer. The worst they could say was no.
Sage had been in town only a few days when she heard about the masquerade. At first she didnt want to go, but she realized it was a good opportunity to start meeting people and getting to know them. Thankfully her mother had gifted her a formal dress so that she could have something nice to wear to performances and contests. And it was the perfect shade of green to come up with a Petilil theme, all she needed was a simple white mask with three poofy green feathers that looked like Petilil leaves. She was glad it worked out, as she managed to look like she belonged there, even if she didnt feel like it.
She had never been to a party like this. The closest she had gotten was when she had helped play for the birthday party of one of her home town's more popular girls, but even then she had been busy playing and singing, and that had been nothing compared to this massive get together. So much for getting to know people, there were just too many!
But she wasn't going to let that ruin her fun. After taking a few moments to sip on a drink and find a place for Staccato so he could watch but not be stepped on, she dove into the fray. Unfortunately she had no idea what she was doing. She had danced before, but those were folk dances, nothing like this. The situation was saved from likely disaster when she heard a voice asking her to dance. Turning around she was met with a darkly dressed individual, his costume clearly based off of some dark type pokemon. But she was at a loss to which. She wasn't particularly familiar with dark and ghost pokemon, there werent a ton around her area of Arciel. But she was happy for the request, and smiled at him. "Why thank ya, I'd love ta dance. But I'll warn ya, I don't have much experience with this kind of dancin." She took his hand with clumsy enthusiasm. "But ya can show me how!"

The Petilil Koray had chosen to ask thankfully didn't hesitate in accepting. A softer smile appeared on Koray's features and led her onto the dance floor while she explained that she didn't have much experience dancing. Specifically with this kind of dancing. Hmm. This little tidbit would be tucked away for the time being however as Koray smiled and took her other hand in his, showing her the right way to hold her arms as he did so. "Indeed I can~," he mused, confident that no matter how little Miss Petilil knew about dancing, he would be able to teach them at least a little.
"Are you familiar with a box step? That's essentially the basic of any dance we may do this evening," Koray asked, not sure where exactly to begin, "You mentioned that you don't have experience with this kind of dancing. Are there any styles you are familiar with? I know several~," It was best to start with something the Petilil knew after all. Or at least something similar to it.
As a someone who does know how to dance it is painful to write someone who doesnt

As soon as the stranger took her hand she could tell he was experienced in dancing as he led her confidently to the dance floor. She giggled a little cheeks heating, but didnt say anything. Sage didnt want him to think she was an awkward country girl.
"Oh, well I've mostly done some line dancin and square dancin. So, if you mean a box do you mean just like Square dancin? No probably not..." She said quickly before he could answer. When he asked what she knew, she snuck a glance towards the musicians. This was fancy music, ballroom kind, not the folksy stuff she was used to. "I hate to say it, but I think that my dancin isn't real suited to this music." But she wasnt about to give up. "But show me how this box step thing works, I'm sure I'll figure it out."
She realized she had no idea what to call this guy, so even though she didnt want to draw even more attention to her obvious out of town origins, she had to at least ask what his costume was. "Im gonna sound a little silly.... but what's your costume based off of?" She asked, cheeks even more red. "I'm guessin its a dark or ghost pokemon but I'm not sure Im familiar with it."
Koray hummed softly as they danced, smiling as it seemed the Petilil was at least fairly comfortable with some kinds of dancing. Without missing a beat, he eased into a square dancing step, adding a little more flare to it. Perhaps he'd teach her the box step in a moment. For now, he would dance in a way they both would enjoy. Though he was admittedly surprised that she thought the styles she knew weren't suitable to the ball. "You shouldn't put yourself down like that, my dear~," Koray mused, twirling the Petilil with practiced ease, "All dancing is suitable, if you know the steps. The music can fit any kind of style you wish," he continued, smiling lightly as he continued the steps.
The question had him blinking a little, but this was well hidden behind the mask. A soft chuckle escaped Koray as he shook his head, "That's far from silly. I am a Dusknoir, my dear, Petilil~," he explained, continuing the steps, picking up the pace as the music changed, "I guess you could say that I have a sort of... kinship with ghost pokemon."
Im so sorry Sage hasnt talked to a lot of guys and he is so smooth
No Pressure, No Diamond
Sage was pleasantly surprise when they shifted smoothly into Square dancing, nearly causing her to stumble. But her partner was smooth and practiced enough to follow his clear lead, she even gave a slightly breathless laugh.
She nodded sheepishly whem he told her she shouldnt put herself down. ""You're right, I'm sure that there is a place for everything. I suppose we can make it work, but I'd never been to such a fancy dance before to try it out. Thanks for helping." She said with a bright smile. She loved dancing, and doing it here with fancy people in a fancy dress, was almost like a fairytale come true.
"A Dusknoir... Interesting." She glossed over the slight goosebumps she got from the Dusknoir's tone of voice. "Does that mean you have some ghost pokemon of your own?" She knew ghost pokemon were generally not as common as many other pokemon, and it was a little unsettling that he had a kinship with pokemon who basically were attracted to death. But it was awfully mysterious. She wanted to know more, but was that a bit too prying?
"But what other dances do you know then?" She said quickly, unsure if changing the subject would be safer or not.
Koray felt the Petilil stumble briefly as he changed the dance style but managed to cover it well enough. Thankfully his words seemed to make an impact and he was glad to help her have more fun at the ball. "Not a problem~, I'm happy to be of assistance," Koray mused, smiling warmly at his dance partner before giving her a spin. The music had slowed down and in turn, he did the same, coming to an easy step with a few twists and twirls. Nothing too complicated but enough to add a bit of flair to the mix.
The comment about the Dusknoir attire he'd chosen was interesting, but Koray chose not to dwell on it too much. A nod would be give at the follow-up question as a soft smile appeared on his features, "Indeed I do, several actually, but I only brought my shiny Phantump, Rowan this evening," Koray explained, "He's something special, I suppose you could say he's the reason why I don't mind having several ghost pokemon," he continued, speaking fondly of his partner pokemon.
Before he had a chance to say anything more on the subject, the Petilil had asked another question and he hummed softly in response, "Several actually, I know most dances from modern to ballet. Dancing is one of my favorite things to do, it's almost like... like flying," Koray explained softly, opting to spin the Petilil thereafter if only to give him a moment's respite from the questions. My goodness, she was certainly talkative.
