Tell us a little about yourself. How would you describe yourself? "Ah, well. I'd say I was just the son of a humble miner, but that'd be a lie. My father owns one of the secondary mines over in Oreburgh town, and that money has made us quite well-off. Gone to the old man's head, as well. Myself, I'm many things. A student, a explorer, a psychic. Yes, that too. I'm quite proud of my abilities." At this point, Marcus demonstrates, spinning a pen in the air above his hands. "Neat trick, isn't it? Still, I've got a long way to go with it. I hope to be able to get better with this skill, as well as with every other aspect of my life. I seek nothing less than personal perfection. Anything less would be slacking." Why are you interested in the class you've chosen? "Well, I don't intend to stay still. I've always prided myself on my sharp eyes and keen intellect, but being a researcher would mean being chained by the hierarchies of academia and boring lab-work. That, and I've learned the basics of mining from working with my father's employees. Being an explorer will give me the freedom to seek out that which *I* wish to seek, and not what gets me grant money. And I've always wanted to try my hand at prospecting." Why are you interested in training in Arciel? Why not another region? "Do you want the answer you'll believe, or the one that's true?. Very well. I chose to travel to Arciel because I had a vision of myself standing before the grand tournament with a powerful team at my side. The details are hazy, but it lets me know what I can do, if only I try" He laughs harshly at the interviewer's dubious look. "Well, then. Is this more believable? I left Sinnoh to get out of my father's shadow. My family is well known, and through them, so am I. This far from Oreburgh, no-one knows our name. It's very freeing to be just another tourist, known only by your own merits and flaws." (Both answers are true, or at least, true enough.) What do you consider your best attributes? They can be physical, mental, social, or anything else. "First amongst my virtues is my mind. It is a finely-honed tool, allowing for me to work wonders with my telekinesis, or to identify the subtle details of a mineral formation at a moment's glance. I like to think I get on well enough with people, making friends easily, but that is much harder to quantify. I can't deny that a lot of my success comes from my good fortune - both that which allowed me to born smart and to a good family, and the subtler sort, that gives me the opportunities I need when I do." What do you consider your worst attributes? Be honest, now! "I'm a perfectionist. I want to do the best I possibly can, be the best I can, and erase every possible flaw from my person. Of course, that leaves little time for mere physical exercise. My telekinesis still leaves much to be desired. I can still only split my focus between 6 discrete objects before losing control, though indiscriminate masses are easier." (Arrogance, esp in mental domains. He's in throughly mediocre physical condition, though not actively reed-like.) What was your childhood like? How was school? "As I said, my family are quite well-off, so I grew up in fine conditions. I quite like my hometown, but I couldn't imagine spending the rest of my life living there. Much better to travel to places which are growing in directions other than deeper into the mountains. I went to St. Barbera's College, renowned as the best private school in the city, and I excelled there. It was an excellent school academically." What's he's not saying is that he couldn't stand the cliques of people who cared more about what family you were born too than what you could do. As a family that was a bit nouveau riche, he had a bit of trouble fitting in, but managed to make up for it with charm and academic excellence. How is your relationship with your family? "My parents are loving and supportive. Truly, they have done everything they can to secure my future. They don't understand why I'm refusing those gifts now. But one has to prove oneself, and can only take so many handouts before it feels more like weakness than good fortune. I hope to return to them all the greater."" What do you like to do for fun? "I read, mostly. When I'm not doing research or practicing my powers. Next question." What are your feelings on romance? "Hmph. Waste of time". (OOC, I haven't decided what to do in this direction, and the answer is quite possibly just "Not interested") What are your goals for the future? Short-term and long-term. "Short-term, I intend to get settled into my journey, find a good team of pokemon, and go do some exploring and prospecting. You know, standard trainer stuff. I look forward to getting to train my own pokemon. I have always depended on the family pokemon, and it just isn't the same. Long-term, I want to be the best I can be. Refine my powers, build my skills, pursue whatever perfection a person can have in this world. And then there's the tournament, of course." If you could be a Pokemon, what species or typing would you choose and why? "Alakazam, I think. They have such power, and I've always wanted to be able to teleport on my own merits. of course, it would also be wonderful to be one of the immortal pokemon, and survive the ages unscathed." That answer was a little quick, wasn't it? Almost like He's thought about it before and prepared and answer. What do Pokemon mean to you? "Pokemon are proof that anything can happen. That no matter how good you get, or how much you explore, that the world will always have more wonders for you to find, more pinnacles for you to reach. Everywhere there are Pokemon, and whatever you dream of doing, I daresay there's a Pokemon which does it, better than any human could. I think that's wonderful." Anything else you'd like to tell us about before you go? "I think we've covered everything of import. We're done here."

Marcus is a young man of slightly above-average height and a slim, unathletic, build. He is pale-skinned and keeps his appearence trim and neat at all times, even exploring in the wilderness. While he can wear less formal outfits if the situation warrants it, he prefers to wear well-tailors suits most of the time. Aura Marcus's Aura is kept tightly under control, forming a layer of solid deep purple held tightly around his body. Despite it's narrow, sharp-bordered profile, it is unusually intense.
