Freya looked up at the lab in front of her. She was blushing extremely heavily, not because of the fact that she found anyone in it attractive, but more so the fact that she was nervous. Even now that she was in front of the lab, she still couldn't believe that she was doing this. Living in a shack for most of her life in the woods meant that she never really had the chance to explore the real world. All she really had was a tv, and even then, all she heard about was the news. That in itself was pretty scary, but one of the two things that made her want to leave, was watching coordinators do their work in contests. Every single one she would watch, she loved. She loved the beauty that could be made by pokemon, and she hoped that she would be able to recreate that same feeling for the people who watched her. The world was a beautiful place with lots of amazing flora and fauna. That she knew, and she wanted to explore that world.
However, if she was ever going to do that, she would need a pokemon. She didn't know what her pokemon would be, but she had hope that it would be amazing. Whenever she was picking out what to wear that day, she wore something that she usually wouldn't. She wanted to leave a good impression on the professor that was here. She wanted them to know that she could take good care of her pokemon. So, she wore a pleasant sundress with pictures of leaves of them, as well as a sun hat to match. However, she didn't try too hard, because her shoes didn't match with her outfit at all. Instead, she wore sneakers. Her hair also wasn't that amazing. Even though it would've been better for her to wait her hair down, she put it into a ponytail. With this very odd combination of style choices, Freya wasn't sure what the person there would think of her. This made Freya even more nervous than she was.
Though, Freya knew that it would be even more awkward if she stood outside for any longer. So, she took in a deep breath, and walked into the lab. As the door closed behind her, she looked around to see if there was anybody there who could assist her. She didn't actually know how the entire process worked, but she was sure that there should be someone there to give her some sort of pokemon. With that thought in mind, she awkwardly stood there, hoping that someone would find her standing there.
wordcount: 443 Notes: Just so its easier for you, I did the pick your starter option, and chose Bounsweet!
Freya Callum It would not be Professor Holly who stumbled upon Freya standing there. The woman was engrossed in her work in the back, and with no noise or call, she would continue to be.
However, the small pitter patter of feet would alert Freya that someone was there— a someone significantly shorter than Holly herself. A Meowth stepped out from somewhere only to pause mid-step and stare at Freya. Its slitted eyes seemed to grow, and it made a pawed ‘wait’ motion with one paw before sprinting off.
A few moments later, Professor Holly came walking up to the front. “Freya Callum, I take it?” she asked. “I have your Pokemon here.” She held up a ball and immediately released the Bounsweet.
As the Bounsweet was released from the pokeball, it moved away from Freya, and into a corner. It seemed to look very sad for some reason, and Freya didn't know why. Though, Freya smiled a tiny bit at the sight, because of it's similarity to her. Maybe the pokemon was awkward like her, or maybe it was something different. So, Freya went over to the bounsweet to try and figure it out. So, as she knelt down towards the pokemon, she said to it, "Hey there, I was wondering what's got you so upset."
With that, the pokemon turned around and looked up at Freya with tears in her eyes. She hugged Freya, and hung on for a while, making Freya feel a bit more awkward. As the pokemon's tears absorbed into her clothing, Freya started smelling fruity. Also though, the bounsweet suddenly started smiling. Freya couldn't tell what just happened, but she was glad that the bounsweet was feeling better. So, while kneeling down still, she said to it, "So, how about you and me go on an adventure? We'll be with each other every step of the way, and I hope that we can create some beautiful things together! I want to discover amazing new things about the plants of Arciel, but also compete in contest along the way. What do you say, are you in?" With that, the bounsweet jumped up and down, cheering with joy.
So, with this in mind, Freya looked over to Professor Holly, smiling from all the happiness, saying to her, "Does Bounsweet have any special needs that I need to care to? She seems to be rather larger than most, so I was wondering if that was a factor in her care." Although Freya didn't quite notice that fact from the beginning, the clinging on to her by the pokemon made her realize how heavy bounsweet was. It wasn't just because she was fat or anything, but because her dimensions were actually quite large for a pokemon that should be way smaller.
Holly watched the Bounsweet and then, more importantly, watched Freya’s reaction to it. Ah good, a good match up. Holly smiled briefly pleased with herself.
The question thereafter earned a small shake of head. “This one is not any different from standard aside from her size,” she answered. “Take care of her as you would others and to the best of your ability.” A pause. “I have also prepared some items for your journey.” She walked over to a shelf and carefully lifted a box from one of the levels. Walking over again, Holly held it forward. Inside, several Pokeballs and potions were ready to go. “Do you have any other questions, or are you ready to start your journey?”
As Professor Holly told Freya that she was taken care of normally, Freya nodded, completely understanding. Due to her being a botanist, taking care of grass type pokemon wasn't as hard for her as most other types of pokemon. It didn't mean she couldn't take care of other pokemon, it just meant that she had a harder time of doing so. So, with this information in hand, she answered Professor Holly's question by saying, "No, that will be all, thank you very much for this opportunity." She then grabbed her items and went off into the real world, ready for whatever the world was going to give to her.
