For a moment, the Oriciro won a look of absolute softness from Gabe. He had enjoyed that dance, and while he wasn’t sure that he would necessarily battle frequently with this one, it would most certainly encourage him to dance. As the Pokeball disappeared off towards his PC, he looked back to Lizbeth who was smiling a little softly. “This part of the island is really… really something…” Gabe spoke quietly. The Charmeleon let out a small noise in response. She agreed.

And this island really was something else, because the next encounter was absolute madness. It started with a rustling of the trees, one that Gabe and Liz were not about to miss. Both looked around and then looked at each other. A hopping sound, another rustling of leaves, and then suddenly upon them all at once was a group of Sceptile leaping out ready to attack. Gabe sputtered. Liz hissed opening her maw and spewing smoke into the area before grabbing Gabe out of the way and letting them slam into the grass where he once was. “ARCEUS FUCK—“

What the fuck— what the fuck— “Flamethrower!” Gabe was ordering even as Liz spit flames. Scrambling and fishing for Pokeballs, he released Kitty the Litleo. “Kitty Fire Fang! Help Liz!” Kitty blinked in wide eyed confusion at what was before her. Each of the Sceptile were rushing in slashing their blades at Liz who was fluidly leaping and dodging while also spewing flames unwilling to let them get too close. Scrambling forward, she joined the fray, biting at a few of the Sceptile’s ankles with a well-placed Fire Fang that had them buckling and kneeling. Liz took advantage of that and Dragon Rushed on of them to the ground before leaping off and Slashing another one.

Ok, ok, ok, Liz had back up. He could trust her to some extent. Gabe needed to focus then on snagging these stupid Pokemon. They would be amazing at market, and they were going to pay for this ambush with their lives. Throwing out a Pokeball at the Sceptile still struggling to get back up, he then turned his attention to the others.

The ding of the Pokeball was barely audible over the din of the skirmish. Gabe was only aware of it because he was listening for it. Ok, that one was one down.

“Kitty! Keep it up! Fire Fang and keep them off Lizbeth” he called, refocusing on the Sceptile mash up against Liz. One of them managed to get a nasty Quick Attack in and then an X-Scissor right after, but for all she was and all she wasn’t, Liz was resistant to these things. She only snarled in anger back and was more than willing to use another Flamethrower at Gabe’s behest. The Sceptile was met with some nasty flames to the face and yelped in response. Crashing to the ground, it struggled to get back up looking defiantly at Liz. A Pokeball smacked into him, though, courtesy of Gabe.

Liz barely noticed. She had already turned her attention to another Sceptile that was coming in with another X-Scissor by that moment. Unfortunately for him, Kitty got in an unexpected Fire Fang to the ankle, and he too was sent crashing to the ground. Lizbeth roared and Dagon Rushed right up against him for good measure. Sent crashing back into a tree, the Sceptile struggled to get up. Gabe was quick fishing out another Pokeball and tossing it at him.

This is insane… The Sceptile were nothing like the Mantine trouble had been. Were they riled up by something? The Honey, maybe? Gabe didn’t have much more time to think.

Both Pokeballs snapped open, and streams of light burst forth. The Large male roared in defiance, ready to onwards. The average non-shiny male— up and fled? “Shit!” Gabe snarled. He wanted to usher Liz and Kitty after it, but they still had others to deal with. This fight wasn’t over yet even with two of the members of the Sceptile horde forcibly taken out.

Lizbeth had been slammed hard by a Leaf Blade, and while it didn’t hurt her as much as it possibly could have, being slammed back into a tree didn’t help. Kitty had been stepped on, and one Sceptile forcibly tripped right over her in the process. The Litelo released an Echoed Voice in response shaking the air with her call. Gabe winced at the noise, but it was enough to pull him back to reality.

The one that had broken from the ball already was first. “Lizbeth, Flamethrower,” Gabe ordered. The Charmeleon turned her head around and spat flames immediately sending the Sceptile back harshly in the process. Gabe didn’t waste a moment throwing a Pokeball at that one.

Kitty, meanwhile, was dealing with an X-Scissor and biting down it with a Fire Fang in recourse. The Sceptile shrieked, and Gabe was quick to toss a Pokeball at that one as well.

As the Pokeballs dinged in capture, Gabe smirked a little. That was three down. One had escaped, but oh well. That left the smallest one looking defiantly at Lizbeth. Lizbeth growled out a vicious call, but the one who downed the Sceptile was an unexpected Fire Fang on part of Kitty. The Sceptile fell forward and then scrambled to try and get back up. Gabe wouldn’t allow that, though, as he threw yet another Repeat Ball to claim the Pokemon.

It was only as the Sceptile was drawn in and the ball hit the ground that Lizbeth would ease up. She looked from Kitty and then back over her shoulder at Gabe. The latter smiled. “They’re worth a pretty penny,” he assured. The Charmeleon rolled her eyes irritably and said nothing.

As the last Pokeball dinged in capture, a sigh escaped from Gabe. “Good work… you two,” he looked back towards his Pokemon. Liz looked vaguely displeased still, but Kitty was quick to take the praise and waggle her tail. After a little while of cooling off from such an arduous fight, Gabe went to check the incense and honey— both of which had seemed to evaporate during the constant fighting. “Damn… not even a Psychic Pokemon….” Gabe muttered before chuckling softly. Oh well, he had some Sceptile now— even if one had fled. They were rare and coveted Pokemon. Surely someone would want them. “Let’s head on for now, you two…” he called. Both Pokemon gave a nod.
