Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
With a little money in pocket and a decent bag of supplies, Elizabeth felt comfortable venturing out of Birch and exploring the first route. She'd decided to make her way to Cherry Town for a first venture. The ranger had heard some farmland was available for purchase and she quite missed farm living. She also wanted not only a place to grow berries but also a place where her pokemon could stay when they were unable to travel with her. Her pokemon had always been able to have free reign when not traveling and she wanted the same for them here in Arciel. Plus it would be good for those who were still waiting to get through customs to have a place they could stretch out after being cooped up in stasis for so long.
Thus it should be a simple matter of traveling Route 1, passing through Cedar Town, then onto Route 2, through Bass which did have a gym so perhaps a stop there was in order, hop across the bay via Route 3 and into Plum the capital which also happened to have a gym, down Route 4 and into Cherry. Plus for each town in which she checked in at a pokemon center the travel bureau would sign off on another three pokemon for importation. Hopefully the trip would go smoothly, but one never knows what they'll encounter along the way.
The freezing temperatures didn't make travel any more pleasant, but with the proper attire, a warm litten, and sitting astride the back of a tropius it at least made things more comfortable. Ayla wasn't entirely thrilled with being out in this weather and thus due to the temperature they opted to remain on the ground for now. It would be much colder higher up in the atmosphere. Still Ayla's desire to be out of the cold was good motivation for the tropius to move quickly. Raya ran alongside the tropius and was keeping an eye out for anything of note.
Curled up on Liz's lap was the tiniest litten kitten who was quite content to be snuggled up and keeping the girl warm. Cecylia clung to Liz's shoulder and was snuggled in the neck of the girl's parka with the hood pulled up. Damara was perched atop Ayla's head though looked rather miserable out here in the cold. She'd considered remaining in the pokeball but also didn't want to be 'left out' in a sense. And of course Loki was drifting along overhead looking rather bored with the trip so far, it was apparent the mismagius wouldn't mind something interesting happening, even if the others just wanted to get through the route quickly.

Now this was something new, at least to Elizabeth. Many of the alolan native pokemon had never made their way to her home region so while she had a litten and rowlet, mareanie was something different. The girl had Ayla stop a moment as they approached the poisonous water type. Liz pulled out her old pokedex, recently updated with all the unfamiliar pokemon from Kalos to Alola to Galar, and scanned the unfamiliar sea creature.
"A mareanie huh? Interesting." She stated considering the little fella. He was certainly keeping his distance from Liz and the rest of her team looking quite fearful of their presence. Liz frowned with concern, she never did like the feeling when pokemon were scared. Her sense of empathy was stronger now than it ever was and it was very alarming when such strong emotions could be felt off creatures so powerful as pokemon. "Hey Mareanie, it's okay little one. We didn't mean to startle you. We're just passing through okay? We won't bother you."
The girl tried to reassure the little water type as she nudged Ayla forward once more. Loki however was greatly enjoying the sense of fear pouring off the mareanie. The ghost cackled and swooped down before lunging at the poisonous water type and leering into his face. The mareanie responded appropriately to something swooping into his face and released a volley of Pin Missile that sent everyone scattering. Mareanie of course fled immediately.
"LOKI!" Liz scolded both vocally and mentally, enough to make the mismagius wince and shy away from the girl. "What in the hell? Don't do something so stupid again!" The ranger growled a little and gave the ghost an almost murderous glare. Loki liked his pranks and while he always had terrible timing, he at least knew better than to put himself or the others in real danger. The ghost drifted upward and behind one of Ayla's wings as he sulked.
Liz sighed and shook her head, she would probably need to spend a little more quality time with him, perhaps he was feeling neglected. Back home when she had Sini to help connect their minds, communicating with her team had been simple. Having to rely on her own skill alone was difficult and Loki wasn't able to verbalize his thoughts in quite the same way. With time she hoped they would be able to be on that same level once more, but she was still learning and who knows when Sini would be processed through imports. Arciel was a big adjustment for everyone but in time she hoped they would all be as close as they once were.

The sun was beginning to peek through the cloud cover now. It wasn't quite as cold as it had been and Ayla was feeling a bit more bounce in her step. Liz chuckled as the tropius paced ahead, moving steadily and giving her wings a bit of a stretch.
They slowed when they noticed an Azumarill along the beach. Liz asked Ayla to stop and the ranger hopped off and set Pavel on Ayla's back. She then approached the water fairy and waved. "Hey there Azumarill. Say would you be interested in a little battle?" The girl inquired cheerfully.
The aquarabbit perked her ears and looked over at Liz and her gaggle of pokemon. She swayed to one side considering then nodded and took on a determined look. The ranger grinned then looked to Cecylia. The pikachu stretched and wriggled out from the warmth of her hood.
"What do you think Cee? Up for a battle?" The girl asked of the electric mouse who chuu'd and nodded. Liz gave a small kick of the ground with her foot and Cecylia flicked her ears before leaning down Liz's shoulder then lightly jumping to the ground.
"Okay Azumarill, your opponent with be Cecylia. If things get sticky, Raya'll back you up okay?" She added the last part mentally to Cecylia. The pikachu nodded but was more than ready to take on the aquarabbit.
Azumarill sized the pikachu up then gave a 'come hither' motion. Cecylia of course didn't notice the gesture but readied herself nonetheless. Sparks flicked at her cheeks as she waited for Liz's order.
The azumarill looked pretty strong so Liz didn't want to take any chances. "Alright Cee go right for a Thunderbolt." The girl instructed and Cecylia nodded. However before the pikachu could react the azumarill jumped up and curled tightly into a ball.
"Hmm... looks like Defense Curl. Careful Cee..." Liz commented as Cecylia nodded. Electrical energy built up around the pikachu then surged forward as she released it all in a powerful strike. Azumarill however suddenly rolled forward picking up speed and narrowly avoiding the Thunderbolt's path.
"Ah here comes Rollout! Watch out Cee, on your right!" The girl quickly warned the pikachu who grunted and leapt to her left but was still grazed by the strong rock type attack. Cecylia stumbled to the side but righted herself and winced.

Azumarill however shuddered to a halt and uncurled with a wince of her own. Looks like Cecylia's special ability had managed to paralyze the water fairy. Liz grinned then looked at Cecylia. "Now's your chance, Thunderbolt once more." Cecylia nodded and quickly released another bolt of electricity at the azumarill.

Seized by the paralysis, Azumarill was unable to escape the full brunt of the super effective electrical attack. Azumarill crumpled to the ground motionless. Liz grinned to herself and looked down fondly at Cecylia. "Great job Cee! Poor Azumarill. Let's leave her an oran berry for when she wakes up."
The girl pulled a blue berry from her pack and set it beside the unconscious water fairy. Liz picked up Cecylia and stroked her ears. Cecylia chuu'd and snuggled into the girl's arms before returning to her hiding place within Liz's hood. The ranger hopped back on Ayla then patted the tropius and motioned upward.
"Feel like flying a bit now girl?" Liz asked with a grin, as she secured Pavel once more with one arm. Raya quickly slid in behind Liz as the tropius nodded and pumped her powerful wings. The grass flier crouched and pushed off from the ground with a surge of strength and took to the skies as they continued onward toward Cedar.

Ayla didn't fly very high, so that they could all see the ground and watch for anything of interest plus too much higher and the chill would be too much. The clouds were beginning to roll in and the sun wasn't shining as brightly as before but the winter air was still warmer than when they'd set out.
Damara had taken to her own wings and was flying alongside Ayla's keeping level with the tropius's head. Loki was entertaining himself with poofing from back to front of the tropius though the grass flier knew better than to let the ghost get to her. Cecylia was secured in Liz's hood and Pavel tucked safely in Liz's arm. The girl kept hold of the tropius's neck with her other hand while Raya steadied herself with one hand on Liz's waist.
From above they could see something brown swimming in the bay that ran along the edge of the beach. Ayla dropped a little lower so they could get a better look. Ah a relicanth, an interesting pokemon to be sure. Elizabeth considered a moment and looked to Damara. The relicanth was obviously stronger than the rowlet but if Raya helped she should be okay. It was her intention to train some while they were traveling down the route after all.
Ayla swooped over the relicanth and Liz looked at Damara. "You ready?" The girl inquired. The timid rowlet looked hesitant. Battling wasn't her strong suit but they'd been working on that since she'd gotten her from the Birch Lab. Damara gave a slow but uncertain nod.
"Don't worry, we've got your back. Just be ready, Relicanth is part rock type and though its very weak to grass type attacks it'll likely know some rock type attacks too." The ranger warned before motioning for Damara to engage.
The rowlet took a deep breath then swooped silently out of the sky. The relicanth didn't seem aware of their presence. "Okay Damara now, use Leafage." Liz instructed watching the stone fish closely.
Damara stretched out her wings and blew up a barrage of leaves. They rapidly descended toward the rock fish and pelted his rocky scales. The relicanth flailed in the water as he searched for his attacker. When he spotted the rowlet the fish dove under the water to build up speed then suddenly shot upward racing toward the flying owl with a powerful Head Smash.
"Oh crap, Damara watch out!" Liz called rather impressed at the fish's range. Damara frantically flapped her wings to try and avoid the attack.

Despite Damara's efforts the fish's head collided with the poor rowlet knocking her completely unconscious. The owl began tumbling down toward the water yet Ayla swooped under her so Liz could catch her. "Oh Damara are you okay?" The girl inquired as she pulled out a revive to give to the rowlet.
The relicanth however had sustained a good chunk of damage from the recoil of his attack, that combined with the earlier Leafage left him sufficiently weaker. However he was still pretty pissed and fired off a Water Gun up toward the tropius. Ayla managed to evade the watery attack and returned one of her own whipping up powerful Leaf Storm that cut into the already weakened stone fish and left him unconscious.
Darama slowly came around thanks to the revive and hooted softly. "Easy now, that was pretty rough huh? But you did a great job Damara." The ranger said encouragingly as she let the owl hop back onto Ayla's head. Damara ruffled her feathers and began to preen herself no worse for wear.
"Fine job for you too Ayla. Now let's keep moving." The girl instructed as the tropius pushed forward through the air continuing in the direction of Cedar Town.

They'd been traveling for a little while now, moving pretty fast thanks to Ayla. The skies had clouded up and the tropius lazily drifted back to the ground. She landed, her energy lessened a bit with the cloud cover. Raya hopped off the tropius's back and walked ahead, scouting things out as it were. Loki was overhead doing loop-de-loops still bored as ever. Damara had tucked her head under a wing and was resting on Ayla's head, same as Pavel and Cecylia.
Liz watched a horsea jump out of the water and land with a pretty good splash. Horsea were fine pokemon and reminded the girl of her kingdra in stasis. She smiled to herself then noticed a small patch of trees on a grassy slop over looking the beach and ocean.
"Say let's stop for a bite there." The girl suggested since it was well into the afternoon at this point. The group agreed and Ayla moved over towards the bit of shelter. Liz and Raya passed around pokemon food for everybody then the girl pulled out a sandwich and a bottle of lemonade. As the group began to eat the earth beneath them suddenly moved.
The odd looking diglett popped his head up and gaze at them all in some surprise. Liz and the others looked back at the diglett sharing his surprise. Liz chuckled and picked up some leftover pokemon food. "Well hello there Diglett. You hungry?" She inquired offering the alolan form mole the food.
Diglett gazed at the food questioningly before beaming and happily chowing down. The ranger chuckled and went back to her sandwich. Once they were finished, they bid the steel and ground type farewell as they continued on their way.

Flying along the group could hear loud music blaring from down below and a sudden voice shout up at them. "Oi you on the tropius! Let's fight!" He called as he released an adorable little emolga.
Liz raised a brow and looked at Loki. The ghost did a loop and sneered. "You've been bored Lok, want to take this one?" The girl inquired of the mismagius who cackled and vanished only to reappeared inches from the emolga. "Alright then."
Trainer Battle - Round 1
VS
"Alright Emolga! Charge it up!" The rocker called out with a riff on his guitar. Liz raised a brow and looked at Loki. "Get in and out quick. Power Gem." The girl instructed watching the emolga carefully. The little flying rodent was intent on building up an electric charge so Loki struck hard and fast firing off the blue white beam of rock energy straight for the emolga. It hit well and pushed the electric flier back but he was still standing.
"And tag out, Raya." Liz ordered as Loki vanished from the skies poofing back behind Liz. Raya smirked and gracefully leaped from Ayla's back. The rocker however wasn't having that. "Oi Emolga! Hit it with Spark!" He called out. Quickly the emolga released the powerful spark including the excess energy he had gained from charging up. The electrical energy struck Raya hard but she held out, better able to withstand in the increased electrical blast than Loki would've been.
"Our turn, Ice Punch." The ranger stated with a nod. Raya had only recently learned this attack and this would be the first fight she'd used it in. But the lucario was quite focused and had little trouble powering up the icy attack. Moving rapidly she pushed off the ground and slammed her fist right into the emolga. The little flying rodent was thrown to the ground unconscious.

Raya dropped back to the ground with a grunt then took up her fighting stance once more. "Dude not cool!" The rocker called and strum a sour cord on his guitar. He recalled the emolga and narrowed his eyes. "Now for a real show!" He spouted as he released his next choice. A shinx appeared before Raya and growled. Raya narrowed her eyes watching the electric feline.
Trainer Battle - Round 2
VS
"Let's get ready, Swords Dance." Liz gave her command and the lucario closed her eyes and extended her arms. A swirl of sword shaped energy wrapped around her then vanished. Raya opened her eyes then narrowed them and watched the shinx warily.
"Ha no none of that now!" The rocker laughed and played another battle riff. "Baby-Doll Eyes go!" The shinx's attitude suddenly shifted and she lowered her head then looked up at Raya with big sad, watery eyes. The lucario balked looking a little hesitant her previous build up of energy releasing.
Liz sighed and rolled her eyes, well if the guy wasn't going to let them power up, guess they'd just power through. "Well okay then. Hit them with Bone Rush!" Raya blinked a moment regaining her composure then stretched out her arms out in front of her a long white bone forming in her paws.

Raya rushed forward and twirled the white bone in her paws. She slammed one end into the shinx then twisted around and smashed her with the other end. The shinx was knocked backward looking pretty worn. Slowly she staggered back to her feet still able to battle. "Yea, you can take it!" The rocker hollered, swinging his guitar. "Make 'em weak in the knees. Leer!"
The shinx lowered her body to the ground looking rather threatening and straight up leered at the lucario. Raya grit her teeth and shook her head but still her defenses were lowered. Liz looked at Raya then pursed her lips and turned to Cecylia.
"Swap in and give Raya a break?" She inquired of the pikachu. Cecylia chuu'd and gave a nod. Liz looked to Damara who fluffed her wings then jumped off the tropius's head and spread her wings to fly over to Liz's side. Cecylia listened for the very faint sound of the owl's wings then hopped from Liz's shoulder onto the rowlet's back.
Gently Damara glided downward to the ground where Raya whacked her bone of energy on the dirt providing Cecylia with a sonar image of the ground. Carefully the pikachu jumped from the rowlet to Raya's shoulder then scampered down the lucario's side. Raya stepped back out of the way, the white bone vanishing from her grasp.
"Ha a pikachu, now this battle's really electric! Shinx get her with a Thunder Shock!" The rocker rocked out as Shinx's body began to spark. "Don't let them, get in with Quick Attack." Cecylia raced forward following the sound of the electrical energy the shinx was giving off. The Thunder Shock struck out but Cecylia raced right through it ignoring the slight damage from the weak electric shock.
The pikachu ran straight into the shinx making full contact. Shinx yelped and toppled over. After the damage sustained earlier the shinx couldn't handle the second attack and collapsed. Cecylia stepped back and shook herself off. The rocker ranted and waved his guitar around. "Man you fried Shinx!" He screamed as he recalled the fallen feline. With a grunt he threw out his next ball. "It's on you Rotom! Let's electrify them!"
The tiny electric ghost appeared and darted around looking eager. Cecylia flicked an ear toward the sparking ghost that sort of spazzing all over the place. Liz looked to Loki and nodded. "Ghost for ghost then. Hang back Cee, let's wrap this up Lok."
Trainer Battle - Round 3
VS
Cecylia scurried over to Raya and jumped up onto the lucario's shoulder. Loki cackled and took up position across from the rotom. The rocker sneered and pointed at the mismagius. "Don't back down! Rotom! Double Team!"
The spastic ghost suddenly split into multiple versions of itself. Loki scowled and blew a raspberry at the rotom. Liz frowned at the array of Rotom but she nodded to Loki. "You got this, let's take care of this quick with Phantom Force." Loki sneered then vanished from sight.

Loki scowled and shuddered as the energy coursed through him.

"Whooa whooa! You battled hard Rotom!" The rocker looked up at Liz and shook his head. "Nice dude, that was electric!" He began to jam out as Liz chuckled and gathered up Raya and Cecylia. The group turned back toward Cedar just as snow began to fall once more from the sky.

The snow quickly turned to rain and the group found themselves caught in a downpour. Ayla circled to a grove of trees where she landed for a moment while they waited out the worst of the rain. Funnily enough Liz discovered amongst this small bunch of trees there happened to be an apricorn tree. The girl reached over a plucked a couple ripe green apricorns and stowed them away in her pack.
"Huh nice find." She murmured mostly to herself as she resumed watching the rain. Everyone was starting to look a bit tired. The last battle had taken its toll and the trip wasn't progressing as quickly as she'd hoped. Flying off and on did help though and Ayla was still feeling pretty good. Pavel had been sleeping pretty much the entire trip.
Cecylia had slipped back into Liz's hood and was draped around the girl's shoulders like some sort of yellow, electric scarf. Loki was feeling quite chuffed with himself but his energy was rather low and the ghost wasn't doling out his usual nonsense. Raya had settled back in behind Liz and the lucario stretched out her slightly spastic muscles, still feeling the electricity from the previous battle. Damara had returned to her perch on Ayla's head and was dozing once more.
The rain eased from a downpour to a steady drizzle. Liz put up the hood of her parka, it was still awfully cold after all, and the group ventured back out into the damp. Ayla continued to plod along at a steady pace, everyone eager to get to Cedar which they could now see wasn't too far off.

The stilted tourist town could be seen clearly now and it seemed like the rain was letting up. However with the cloud cover dissipating and evening rolling in the temperature was beginning to drop. The winter chill hadn't really left all day but now it was growing much more apparent.
The group simply wanted to head into town, get warmed and rest however it looked like a slightly disgruntled staryu wasn't going to let them pass. Bright stars shot across their path forcing their attention to the brown star pokemon standing on the beach. Liz couldn't be sure what had angered the staryu so but it looked like they weren't going to be able to just walk on by.
The girl slipped off Ayla's back and patted the tropius. "The others are pretty worn out, think you can take this one? Cee'll back you up if need be, I know the staryu seems rather strong." The ranger inquired of the tropius who dipped her head in agreement. The staryu certainly had a strength advantage but Ayla had the better type advantage.
The tropius stepped out to face the staryu who immediately minimized itself, likely hoping to avoid the grass type's powerful grass moves. Ayla however took this chance to grow, using Growth to increase her power. Liz stood alongside Raya watching things closely. If Ayla couldn't get a good hit in and the staryu managed to hit more than once, the tropius likely wouldn't be able to withstand the water type.
"Okay Ayla, be ready it'll probably try an attack now." The staryu was smart, reducing its size and make itself a smaller target to hit. Ayla crouched slightly, tense and ready for the starfish's next move. Having already shown its intelligence the starfish opted for another round of Swift rather than a water type move.
Ayla leaped into the air and attempted to dodge the volley of stars but only managed to deflect a portion of the damage. She grunted but held out and readied her response. Her four powerful wings quickly whipped up a strong storm of leaves that all pelted down at the staryu.
Roll for Leaf Storm accuracy verses Minimize evasion 3cpXW6o|p_ p_
Annoyingly however none of the leaves hit their mark, the shrunken staryu being rather difficult to hit. Ayla huffed and Liz pursed her lips. Ayla was doing alright but that Swift was rather brutal. The ranger reached into her pack and retrieved an Oran berry.
"Quick take one of these." The girl tossed the tropius the blue berry and Ayla downed it in one gulp. The berry's healing properties gave the tropus renewed vigor. Annoyed the staryu did as expected and released another volley of stars. Ayla managed to withstand the attack once more though she was even weaker after this hit than previously. The berry had helped but it didn't completely counter the moves damage.
"Give it one more shot, Leaf Storm." Ayla gathered her remaining strength and released another furious storm of leaves hoping to finish this in one strike.
Roll for Leaf Storm accuracy verses Minimize evasion p_ p_
It seemed this time Ayla's Leaf Storm was more precise and the staryu was caught up in the storm and dashed about by the leaves. The starfish was left unconscious in the sand and Ayla looked quite worn out. Liz patted the tropius affectionately. "Well done Ayla, that was close. Let's get into town and rest up then shall we?"
