After a morning of training and a warm lunch Elizabeth found herself once more answering an advert for one of the job listings available to traveling trainers. The girl had sunk a good chunk of change into sending Loki in for some specialized training at the dojo so she was needing to recoup some of that.

There were several things available in the resort town though she decided to opt with aiding one of the local groomers this time. Liz had never really had much interest in pokemon grooming, though on the ranch she did have experience with something as simple as a bath. Sure she cleaned up her pokemon when needed though styling and dressing them up was not her forte. But as the ad only needed washers at least she knew how to do that.

Raya and Cecylia were the only two accompanying her outside at the moment. Ayla's size still made it difficult for the tropius to maneuver around towns and Damara was feeling the chill from their training session that morning thus remained in the comfort of her pokeball. Pavel too had worked hard and was snoozing soundly in his own ball.

The trio entered the nearby stylist and greeted the clerk behind the counter. "Good afternoon, I noticed your ad needing folks to help with pokemon bathing?" Liz greeted with a smile. The clerk nodded then motioned to the back. "Oh yes we could really use the help. We've got two clients at the moment, a Delcatty and Gyarados, who would you feel more comfortable working with?"

Liz raised a brow, Delcatty or Gyarados, both pokemon she had her own of in stasis, but both could be tricky. Delcatty, presumably like most felines, had a natural aversion to water. And a gyarados's temperament could be unpredictable even though it was likely a gyarados would enjoy a bath being a water type. Liz glanced at Raya and Cecylia, neither of which had a preference.

"I guess we'll start small and try the delcatty?" She stated with some trepidation. While her male delcatty Spirit, awaiting her in stasis wasn't exactly the refined sort, she figured he was more the exception than the rule. Liz knew that Pavel would most definitely be extremely resistant to having a bath, though of course he was also a fire type and fire types themselves typically disliked water.

The clerk smiled and nodded as she beckoned for them to follow. "Alright then let's go meet your client!" They said as they led Liz and the others into the back.

The Delcatty doesn't look pleased at all to see the trio and huffed, putting her nose in the air. She didn't need a bath from these miscreants, thank you very much. In fact, she made her displeasure well known by hissing at them, even giving a low growl as if a challenge to even dare try to touch her.

The clerk paused and looked from the delcatty back to Liz. They gave the ranger a cheery smile. "Well good luck!" Then scampered off back up front. Well they obviously weren't going to be any help.

Liz sighed a little as she took off her long coat and laid it over a nearby stool, at least it was warm in here. She took a moment to look over the room. It seemed to have everything she'd need for giving the feline a proper bath. A raised wash basin stood near the middle of the room and had a shower head and hose attached to the faucet. The basin came roughly to her waist allowing plenty of room for maneuvering without having to bend over too much and was plenty big enough for the delcatty.

The ranger paused a moment and checked inside a few of the cupboards and managed to find some elbow length gloves so hopefully she could avoid getting her arms all scratched up. The girl set the gloves beside the wash basin along with a bottle of shampoo and some conditioner and a brush. Liz then turned her focus to the delcatty.

"Hello there Delcatty. I'm Liz, this is Raya and Cecylia." The ranger dipped her head in greeting, her voice calm and steady, and motioned to the lucario and pikachu as she introduced them. She could sense the delcatty's disdain for them and hoped perhaps allowing her to get comfortable with them would ease things a little. Raya inclined her head to the feline but crossed her arms not about to let the prissy feline have her way. Cecylia flicked an ear toward the delcatty and greeted her with a soft, though uncertain, chuu.

"Now I know a bath probably doesn't sound like much fun, but hey I promise your fur will look so beautiful once it's been freshly washed and brushed. Plus I've also got a few pokemon treats here if you're interested." She reached into her pack and retrieved a package of store bought treats. The girl poured a few into her hand then offered them to the delcatty.

The Delcatty eyes the treats warily, however after going over your words gently eats them and meows softly, she seems ready to comply with what you have planned!

The ranger grinned as the feline took to the treats apparently finding her lowly offering mildly acceptable. The girl reached out and gently stroked the delcatty's thick fur. It was a little rougher than she expected though this was probably why the normal type needed the bath. There was a little bit of dirt streaked throughout her fur and her paws looked to have picked up a lot of sand from the beach. Liz wondered if she'd been in a battle recently or just been playing on the shoreline. Overall, the delcatty wasn't too bad a mess but enough to certainly need a good bath.

"There's a good girl. Don't worry sweetheart we'll make you look absolutely beautiful, won't we guys?" Liz told her as she scritched her behind an ear and glanced sideways at Cecylia then looked to Raya. The pikachu absently cleaned her face with her paw and gave an agreeing pika. Raya nodded but eyed the feline cautiously, doubtful she'd remain quite so docile.

The girl turned on the faucet for the basin and let it fill about a third of the way. Delcatty wasn't too big and she didn't need to completely immerse the feline. She added a little shampoo to the running water and let it foam up before turning the water off. Then she slipped on the gloves, even if Delcatty was more calm now didn't mean she'd remain that way, and carefully picked up the normal type and carried her to the basin. Gingerly she lowered her in unsure how the feline would react when first hitting the water.

The Delcatty still seems suspicious about this girl but decides that she is indeed worthy of her time. The water actually feels... nice and she seems to relax a tiny bit.

Elizabeth cared for pokemon of all kinds and raised many back home on the family farm. Caring for them like this was nothing new and she enjoyed being able to make her pokemon look and feel good. Cleaning one up after a tough battle or a hard day of play could be relaxing, for some. So far it looked like the delcatty was finding this more enjoyable than she'd expected.

"Yea see? The water's nice and warm, not like the cold, wet mess outside. And this lavender and vanilla shampoo smells great. Just imagine how good you'll smell once we're all done." The ranger spoke in a soft and calming tone while she gently scrubbed Delcatty's silky fur. Raya sat on a stool and watched with Cecylia perched on the counter with the basin and passed Liz the conditioner. The girl slowly rinsed the shampoo from the delcatty as she gratefully took the conditioner from Cecylia.

"Thanks Cee. Now I don't know if you get many baths or if your trainer brings you here to the salon very often but your fur's quite lovely so it looks like they take really good care of you either way." She complimented the feline wanting to keep her in good spirits. A few bubbles rose from the basin which Liz indicated to Cecylia and let the pikachu happily pop them with her tail. Raya stretched and cracked her neck as the lucario relaxed a little. The salon really was nice and warm compared to the winter weather outside and the scent of the lavender and vanilla shampoo was soothing. So far this was actually turning out to be a pretty nice little job.

The Delcatty seems to relax more as Elizabeth talks to her. A soft, proud, mew is heard when she's complimented and eventually closed her eyes. Ok, this wasn't so bad after all...

So far so good, Delcatty seemed to be enjoying herself and relaxing in the soothing waters. The ranger began rinsing off the shampoo so she could move onto conditioning. The bottle was a tad low and made a rather rude noise when she squirted it out onto her hands. Even for one as 'mature' as herself she couldn't help a small giggle. Cecylia too snickered and covered her mouth with a paw. To the pikachu's keen ears it sounded even worse than what Liz or Raya heard.

Raya just rolled her eyes and shook her head though wore a concealed smirk. Though more serious than her trainer, she couldn't completely ignore the projected emotions shared through Liz's psychic link. The girl winked at the lucario before pouring a liberal amount of conditioner on her hands then gently working it into the delcatty's coat.

"Now if you didn't know, this is conditioner. It helps keep your coat silky and soft and from getting too frizzy." She explained though if the delcatty had been in to be bathed before she probably already knew the drill. Still, Liz was mostly speaking to keep the delcatty engaged and calm. So far things were going well but one could never be too careful. She could still accidentally hit a spot Delcatty didn't like or perhaps Delcatty could simply decide she'd had enough of bath time. Hopefully though it wouldn't be too much longer now. After conditioning it would be time to dry and then brush.

There is something about the way the conditioner smells that causes the Delcatty to puff up a bit and back up some. Nope. She didn't like that one!

Liz frowned a little at the change in Delcatty's demeanor and she quickly began rinsing the conditioner off her. "Easy girl, what's wrong?" The ranger inquired as she got her all rinsed off. Perhaps Delcatty had had an allergic reaction to the conditioner? Liz carefully checked her over for any rashes or pulled fur.

Well she couldn't see anything completely wrong but hopefully Delcatty would feel better now that they were done. The girl finished rinsing then carefully picked Delcatty up and carried her to a counter. She tested the hair dryer and let her get used to the sound before slowly drying her off and running a brush through her fur whilst she did so.

"There we are, almost done now. Sorry about the conditioner, I'll let the clerk know you didn't like that one for next time." The ranger assured the feline. Hopefully whatever it was hadn't soured Delcatty's experience too much. The ranger continued to brush and Cecylia even helped by gently running her paws through Delcatty's tail.

Liz hummed a little to soothe Delcatty while they finished with blow drying and brushing. Delcatty's coat shimmered in the light even more beautiful now than it had been before. Any sign of dirt or damage was gone, washed away by the waters and a the light scent of lavender and vanilla clung to her like a flora blanket. She grinned then looked at Raya.

"Mind fetching the clerk and letting her know we're done?" Liz inquired of the lucario. Raya dipped her head then pop off the stool and wandered back up to the reception desk. Liz gave Delcatty a final fluff then presented her to the clerk.

"Ah wonderful, Delcatty looks devine. Thank you so much for your services! I left your payment on the counter." The clerk informed her as they returned to the front. Liz gave Delcatty a final scritch behind the ears. "Thanks for being so patient today Delcatty. You take care now, and you do look quite lovely." The girl cooed as she scooped up Cecylia and followed after the clerk.
