Birch City was different than home, she notes - but then, most places are different from home. Lumoise had a certain spark to it, didn't it? Pretty place it was. So caught up in examining these differences, Prim almost walks right past the Lab, just barely having ignored the sign and doors in favor of admiring the minute detail in the bricks paving the road of all things. Luckily, she seems to catch herself just in time, because any longer and she may have been late, and that simply wouldn't do.
So, pushing herself into a quick jog, it's with focus that she actually manages to cross the threshold of the laboratory in time that she skids to a halt in front of the nearest individual. Hopefully, it's actually Professor Holly, and she isn't making a fool of herself in front of an intern...
(But then, did that really matter? A nagging voice in her head said it did.)
"Uhm, hello! I'm here-- I'm here to get my first Pokemon?" Lacing her fingers over her front, the girl wobbles back and forth on her heels, continuing to say, "I've never had one of my own before - I think I'm kind of excited..."
Holly looked up from her desk and adjusted her glasses as an individual came barreling into the lab and proclaiming that she was there to receive a Pokemon. Turning her wrist around and looking at her watch and then her notes, she spoke slowly. “Primrose Adler?" A momentary pause for confirmation. "Yes, I have your starter choices picked right here,” she answered standing briefly and going over to a shelf where a Pokeball case lay in waiting. Opening it and taking the balls out, she then tossed them forward to reveal the Pokemon in question.

Standing there for a moment, almost as if she didn't quite believe that she found the right person from the start, Prim seems completely caught off guard. Sparing the Professor an onslaught of incomprehensible stammering, the young woman decides instead to shut her mouth and watch her - best not to yap and yip at the professional, right?
Clutching the strap of her satchel, Prim peers over at the case of Pokeballs, curious of their contents... only to look terribly unsure when her options came to be known. Remoraid didn't seem like it fit her lifestyle so much, as cool as owning an Octillery in the future just might be - and so with a heavy heart she looks to the other two, which is where the real choice came in.
The ultimate choice. Cat, or dog. Meowth. Or Rockruff. Cute vs. Cute. It was a hard choice, and one that takes the young Prim an exceptionally long time to decide upon... before, at last, she points a thin finger at the Rockruff. "I think I'd like the Rockruff, if that's fine with you? I hear Meowth can be rather temperamental," least of all Alolan Meowths, "And I don't think I have the... uh, the fortitude for that right now." She smiles at the Pokemon all the same, kind of wishing she could have both despite her own words, before her attention turns to the one she had picked.
"I think Rockruff's a good option, anyway. They're such social creatures, and their sense of smell just might come in handy... I can only hope I can handle it as it gets stronger." A pause, and a huff. "If I can help it get stronger, anyway." Shaking her head, she turns her attention back towards the Professor, meanwhile kneeling down to offer an upturned palm to the Rockruff. "Thank you very much, ma'am."
Holly waited patiently as the new trainer (of sorts) selected her Pokemon. As the decision was made, she gave a nod and returned the other two before handing over Rockruff’s ball to Primrose. “It’s suggested you pick out a good name for him,” she stated before turning to the shelf again and pulling out some Pokeballs and potions. “These items will help you get started on your journey. Use them wisely,” she stated before handing them over. “Do you have any questions for me or are you ready to start your journey?”

While, yes, she knew that a Pokemon, a partner, needed a good name, it seems that Prim came woefully unprepared. As the pup comes in closer to her, especially as the ball is handed off to her, she stares at him very thoughtfully. His little snout comes to rest in her palm, and she cautiously brushes her thumb against its side, wearing a smile. "I think Ranger is good. It suits a little guy like you, doesn't it?" Pushing her hand from his mouth into the fur about his neck, careful to avoid any points in the rocks, she nods. "Yeah, I like Ranger."
Her attention turns back to the Professor then, as she tucks the Pokeball away (apparently keen on just letting it accompany her at her side for now,) as she mentions supplies. "Oh, thank you..." Reaching out, she pulls the supplies in closer, and wears a nervous look for a moment. "I'm not so good at training so much as I am just raising, I think. Do you have any ideas what I could do to get better at it...?"
Hm, that was an interesting question, Holly thought for a moment. “The best teacher is experience,” she answered. “I would suggest looking up different training methods up online and finding ones that work for you and your Pokemon.” A pause. “I will say, building strong communications and relationships with your Pokemon is a central part of training as it is raising, though.” She nodded to herself once before continuing on. "Anything else?"

Listening very intently as Professor Holly imparts her with knowledge she already had (and yet somehow feels more poignant coming from someone who actually knew what they were talking about, in a way?) Primrose nods along, stuffing her supplies into her satchel. "Th-Thank you, ma'am. And no, that's all my questions. I think I'll be fine otherwise, I just don't have much faith in my talent there..."
Shaking her head, she smiles down at the Rockruff, before looking back at the Professor. "I'll be on my way, but thank you again. I really, super appreciate it."
