Now that he had been down Cycling Road at least once, Gabe decided it was time to check out what lay on the ground area below the biking highway. And thus he was out on Route 10. The cool, dry air and short grass poking through short patches of frost was vaguely reminiscent of a savannah, and with the potential for Fire Types seemingly higher than usual, he’d decided to attract them: with some Fire incense. Twisting the lid open and then setting it in his back, Gabe started to walk again down the lowly path through the area. I could get used to this… It was much better than the wet cold of eastern areas, for sure.

A soft crunching sound in the low broken frosty grass had Gabe stopping his track through. Yellow eyes flashed around curiously searching or the source only to find what came forth to be… not what he wanted. Really, Fire Incense?? What Gabe shifted around and checked the bag to be sure and then nodded to himself. Yeah, it was fire Incense. Alright then.
The Jolteon walked along and yawned softly seemingly not registering someone else was there. Gabe’s lips curled a little before falling flat again. He didn’t need another Jolteon, and unlike the numerous copies of Fire Types he already had, he didn’t want one either. He could battle it for experience, of course, but that would just wear down his party. Instead, he waited for the Jolteon to move passed and then started onwards again.

Walking onwards, Gabe hummed softly to himself. Yellow eyes flickered here and there, occasionally catching on to a few smaller Pokemon before going about their search again. Hm, was this Fire Incense even working? Had he gotten a faulty one? That would be unfortunate….. But then a rustling in the broken frozen grass would have Gabe turning around— just in time to see a Magmortar making a bee line for him.
“AKAJSLDASJDLAKSDJ!!!”
Gabe scrambled fishing out a Pokeball and releasing Lady Fetchworthy just in time to get between them. The Boltund blinked surprised but immediately started wagging her tail and barking. The Magmortar stopped short, squinted, and raised an arm cannon. Gabe took in a few shaky breaths and slowly allowed himself to smile. Ok, ok good. So this incense was working— Maybe too effectively even heh… That left the Magmortar to deal with, though. He technically had a Magby, but fire duplicates were appreciated here. So then battle it was. “Spark!” was the order. The Boltund sparked with power and released the move right before receiving a Confuse Ray in the form of a cannon blast from the Magmortar.

The Magmortar took the electrical attack reasonably well swaying but quickly recovering by raising a cannon once again. That couldn’t be said for the Boltund who was now confused. Gabe grimaced a little. “Crunch!” he ordered. The Boltund lunged forward again ready to bite down where she thought the Magmortar was.

Only met a Fire Punch to the jaw. The Boltund bark-yelped and went crashing sideways and onto the ground. Gabe's eyes grew a little as her thoughts went crashing into his mind right after. 'IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS OW OW OW OW!' A sharp breath drew into Gabe as he grabbed the side of his head and looked down at his Boltund. "Focus!" was the order. "Use Spark again! Try and Paralyze it!"The Boltund whined but got back up on her shaky legs and looked at the Magmortar who waited and then raised her cannon again. The Boltund sparked again with power.

And this time beat the confusion just enough to release the electrical attack. The Magmortar grimace and then seemed to cascade with fire, a Lava Plume- "Get out of the way!" Gabe ordered, and the Boltund in her speed managed to escape the fire just as it came at her. Damn they really needed to paralyze this thing but... Whatever. Gabe fished out a Great Ball and tossed it at the Magmortar.
As the Pokeball dinged in capture and teleported off to his PC thereafter, Gabe let out a breath and smiled. “Good work— F-….” Only to immediately deadpan on seeing his Boltund looking wildly around for the Pokeball that had been tossed. Where did it go! She was sure she saw it over here— or maybe over here? No she could smell where it had been. Hm, what a conundrum. Gabe sighed softly to himself and fished out the Boltund’s Pokeball before quickly returning her for now. Better than having her find something— and going running off. The red light failed to drag the Boltund in as she caught wind of something and went bounding off towards it. Great.

Lady was running and all Gabe could do was run after her. “Slow down girl!” Gabe call-ordered knowing the Boltund wouldn’t listen to him right then anyways. Whatever it was was significantly more interesting than anything he could offer, and she wasn’t about to stop until she found it—
And then they found it. Gabe immediately stopped running eyes wide, pupils small. Lady wouldn’t see just what it was, though, as she followed her nose right up to the back of an Emboar. The latter immediately startled, stood up, and twisted around to stare down at the much smaller beast before her. Gabe had to act fast.
“Spark, Lady!” was the shout. The Boltund had frozen for just a second but quickly snapped back to reality sparking with power and releasing it on the Emboar. The latter grimaced stepping back from the sudden shock only to burst into flames and leap upwards. “Out of the way, Wild Charge!” Gabe ordered. The Boltund sparked again and burst sideways just as the Emboar came down and made a crater from the fiery blow hitting the ground.
“Charge and then Spark now!” The Boltund charged up some power but was knocked straight off her feet by a dangerous Rollout maneuver from the Emboar. She went crashing to the ground right before she released a Spark that shocked the Emboar much harder than before— enough to paralyze her and give Gabe a chance to toss a Mammoth ball at her.

As the Mammoth ball dinged in capture, Gabe was already fishing out another Pokeball and returning Lady as quickly as he could. The last thing he needed was her running off after another Pokemon so soon. She’d just been through two heavy battles and needed to rest no matter what she believed. And Gabe needed a break too, honestly. As things began to settle, Gabe slowly started walking again searching for a place to sit down for a while. Yeash heh.

Just as Gabe sat down against a tree to catch his breath, what should appear walking in his line of sight but another Emboar. Gabe did a double take. What…. Is it…. He waited with baited breath to see, and sure enough, the Emboar started to turn in his direction, sniffing around. Ah... great... Shoving himself up on the tree and bracing himself, Gabe slowly fished out a Pokeball. In a flash, Harriet appeared.
‘Gabe?’ the Alakazam blinked and looked around only to find the Emboar now staring at them both with a ‘ready’ look. ‘Ah.’
‘Sorry, but there’s a Type advantage here, and Lady already battled twice….’ Gabe replied in thoughts alone. The Emboar was studying them now looking for any sign of order or otherwise. Finally, he decided to attack first, and rolled out towards them. ‘NOW OR NEVER PLEASE’
Harriet sighed. A spoon flashed, and she dodged the first roll causing the Emboar to crash into a tree. Gabe smirked. Harriet frowned. ‘Psybeam….’ She supposed she should listen to him, even if he is practically her child in most respects. A spoon raised and psychic energy went crashing at the Emboar. The latter cried out startled by the pain of the move but recovered quickly.
Fire exploded around the Emboar, and he went racing fowrad again. As he came crashing at Harriet, however, she Teleported behind him and immediately sent a Psybeam at him again. He crashed to the ground, and Gabe was quick to fish up a luxury ball and toss it.

As the Pokeball dinged in capture, Gabe and Harriet sighed in unison. ‘…Don’t you have a Pignite already?’ Harriet recalled much after the fact.
Gabe paused and smiled a little before nodding his head. ‘And another Emboar too….’ Harriet frowned but said nothing back. Trainers who caught multiple Pokemon of the same species often preferred one to another, but at least Gabe had the excuse of being a Fire trainer who would hopefully train them all equally.
…Or at least better than the Sceptile clan that were back home. The Alakazam sighed softly again.

After a bit more conversation with Harriet, Gabe returned her and fished out a different Pokeball. The Fire Incense was just about up, so it was time to get in some actual distance. In a flash, Clopper was released. Climbing on, Gabe ushered her forward running down the landscape now at a brisk pace.
They went on like that for a while. The rhythmic motions were familiar to Gabe and almost lulled him— at least until something came bursting out from the brush claws bared. Clopper couldn’t dodge. The slash to the chest had her yelping and rearing up. Gabe had only a split second to seize her pelt to keep from being thrown. “The hell, Clop?” Gabe shouted even as he was aware of her thoughts. Great, they were being attacked by—
In a flash, a steely creature had leapt up and uttered a fearsome Screech. Gabe’s pupils shrank but remained focused on the creature even as both it and Clopper landed front feet for front feet. Gabe let out a breath as the Perrserker glared at them ready to fight. A small, dry half-laugh half-sigh escaped from him. “Clopper, you alright?” She was for the most part. “Use Synthesis later, for now, Bulk up and Earthquake.” That thing had to be a Steel type of some quality, and they needed to deal with it fast.
Clopper obliged, strengthening herself up and then releasing a devastating earth shaking power. The Perrserker Screeched (literally and figuratively) and scrambled back and away from the human and this surprisingly powerful goat. It tried for a Swagger but was too far away right then. Another Earthquake would have it collapsing to the ground. Gabe fished out a Pokeball and tossed it at it.

As the Pokeball dinged in capture, Gabe sighed and reached to ruffle Clopper’s neck fluff. The Gogoat sighed deeply back and immediately started using Synthesis to recapture some lost energy. “Are you good to keep going?” Gabe asked even as he eyed the Pokeball and made sure that it teleported off to his PC. The Gogoat gave a small nod prompting Gabe to nod back too once the ball was indeed gone. Good good. “Let’s go then.” And with that, the Gogoat took off in a run again down the frosty grasslands.
