Yet more traveling.... well, it wasn't so bad. It kept you fit! And your legs stretched! And, also, there were tons of photo-ops to be had. Though, she had to wonder just how many she might find in an open plain, or mostly-open-plain, like this one... Prim's let Ranger out of his ball as per usual, the pup flopping around alongside her, and even if she doesn't particularly enjoy the walk today, she'll be pleased enough to know that, at least, he probably will.[break][break]
Dressed warmly, she tightens the scarf around her neck to keep her chin and nose warm as she walks, but her eyes are alight and she certainly feels comfortable enough. Part of her said she ought to just stay at home and work on taking care of her Pokemon, but after reading (and really, knowing all along,) that oftentimes traveling and training made them all the healthier as well as stronger, she realized that apart from being a Breeder, she had to get better at this training thing.[break][break]
So! Here she was, meandering along the path that stretched between Birch and Cedar; she had thought to take her newly purchased bicycle, but when she thought about it...? No, she didn't think she wanted to risk that much cold air winding her.
[break] for myself & for mods: swablu has exp share. Yamper against buizel - super effective match-up. +1 level for yamper & swablu!
After a while, from a short estuary comes a Buizel, who catches sight of the trainer and her Pokemon with interest; and, apparently, not exactly in a friendly way. Well, in the sort of way a Pokemon approaches someone it wishes to battle, which can be taken a few sorts of ways, but... well, it wants to fight! That's all! Or at least, that's what Prim gets from it, as it takes a defensive stance, flicking its tail with interest. [break][break] Prim makes quick work of typing - Buizel was water, and Rockruff was... rock. She had enough knowledge to know that wasn't a good match-up, and with a quick flick of her wrist, Ranger is returned to his ball and quickly replaced, instead, with Scampi. The oddly-colored Yamper lands on the earth with a plop, and while at first seems ready to play, recognizes quickly there-after that.. oh, it's a battle. Her ears pin back briefly, but she picks up a moment later, ready for order. [break][break] And that order is... "Scampi, use nuzzle!" Quickly thereafter, the Yamper bolts forward and with an electrically-charged cheek, shocks the Buizel enough that it yelps in surprise, before the remaining static locks it in place, keeping it from returning fire. This excited Prim, who jumps up and down in place (probably looking like a fool, but hey! She was doing a good job!) before saying, "Okay, follow up with a tackle!!" [break][break] Prancing around, Scampi is plenty happy to circle around and lunge forward with its chunky little dog-body, slamming into the Buizel who, unfortunately, couldn't fight back. Prim feels a twinge of guilt, but... it initiated, hadn't it? She tries to tell herself it's not so bad. Either way, the Buizel seems able to fight back, now, barely working through the electricity causing it to stutter, to attack with a burst of loud air, sending Scampi rolling back - but luckily, she catches herself in time for Prim to say, "Nuzzle one more time!" [break][break] While the Pokemon was already paralyzed, it would still hurt it... and with a quick barreling forward, the electric-type delivers another nuzzle of lightning, that seems to do its job. Sending the Buizel reeling, it knocks it over onto its side, too spent to keep fighting, while Yamper turns around to look at Prim, who claps her hands! "That was so good, Scampi! You're so good!!" [break][break] Upon briefly checking on the Buizel (who was now napping, to regain its energy,) she motions for her Pokemon to follow her, and they continue on their walk.

Continuing along, having since picked Scampi up into her arms, Prim seems content to mind her business and keep an eye out for items strewn about the road (as that seems to be something that happens often, things fallen out of bags, left behind in a hurry,) until the bandana she wore caught the eye of another Trainer, who stood with his Pokemon amidst the road; a rather chunky, but cute, Bulbasaur with wide eyes. He speaks up, "Hey! Hey, you! You're another Breeder, right?" He points from the symbol on his hat and overalls, to the one upon her bandana. [break][break] At first, she's taken aback, before nodding. "Yeah. I mean, a fledgling, but I've been wanting to get more into the business--" [break][break] He interrupts her to say, "Let's battle, then! Let's see if we're raising our Pokemon right!" [break][break] While she didn't much like the fact that he was, then, insinuating whoever lost wasn't doing good enough, she supposes that... well, it'd be pretty cool to win against him, since he seemed so sure of himself. Withdrawing Scampi into her ball, the Trainer seems surprised when she instead releases her Pidgey, Smidge. Landing on the ground with a small gust of air, he looks to Prim, and then back to the Bulbasaur. "Sure, okay. We can battle!" [break][break] "U-Uh, okay!" Oh, was he nervous? Prim, kind as she was, couldn't deny the fact that she felt a little smug. "Bulbasaur, use vine whip!" When the lashing whips struck Pidgey, it let out an indignant caw, before flying into the air to escape the sensation, while Prim calls after it, "Use Gust!" [break][break] Which, it does indeed, flapping his little wings with such ferocity that the Bulbasaur looks a little pained when the blast hits him, responding with a Growl when ordered to by the other Trainer. Smidge looks only slightly off-put, but pays more heed to his owner, who says, "Another gust, it did really well!" With this one, the Bulbasaur manages to cancel most of the pain out, gritting through it so his trainer might call for him to use Vine Whip again. Vines wrap around the Pidgey after they slap him, yanking him down to the earth... A small gasp leaves Prim, and she says, "Use Tackle!" [break][break] Irritated with the fight, Smidge manages to escape the hold of the vines as they retract, pushing off the ground and flying forward across the distance to slam his body into the Bulbasaur's, sending it flying all the way to the Trainer's feet, knocked out. Smidge certainly looked worse for wear, though... maybe she shouldn't push him further. Withdrawing him to his ball, she looks to her fellow Breeder and smiles apologetically. [break][break] "I mean, I think we both did pretty good. Maybe we can have a rematch sometime..."

Thinking on how it was probably a pretty good idea she'd been reading those books on training, on match-ups and moves, Prim walks on slowly, her hands locked behind her back. Examining the area around her, she's content to exist in her own mind for now, reflecting on the fact that she felt pretty good doing what she was doing - looking after her own Pokemon, paying rent for her own place, being her own person. Not that she hadn't been her own under Kenneth's care, but... being so far from home, from the name of her family? [break][break] It felt pretty damn good. [break][break] Letting her eyes fall off to the road, she notices a few Pokeballs, pretty pink ones no less, and decides to pocket them after realizing nobody else was around. Surely they'd come in handy!

[break] crabfriend
It isn't long after pocketing the Heal Balls that the Crabrawler comes skittering out of the nearby inlet, clacking and clicking those big meaty claws of hers toward Prim. Somehow, she looks both as if she's trying to look intimidating, and a bit like she's going to run away - if an angry crab could look that way. As she approaches, Prim looks taken aback by the size of it, though... as she looks at it, it doesn't seem so scary. [break][break] "Do you wanna battle?" She asks, kneeling down slightly to look at it more on its level. The Pokemon, being, well, a Pokemon, just clacks its claws a little more, leaving Prim to wonder... did it wanna get stronger? It didn't look super strong. For a crab, anyway. [break][break] So, reaching into her satchel, she thinks... what Pokemon could she use? Did she need to use a Pokemon? She'd befriended before... reaching for one of her unused Pokeballs, she offers it toward the crab. "How about we help each other get stronger a different way? I don't think I wanna fight right now, if that's okay... but you can come with me, if you want?"
[break][break]Provided the Pokemon seemed interested, she'd tap the Pokeball against one of its claws.

In truth, she didn't think it was going to work - and yet, it did. It actually did. After a few seconds of back and forth wobbling from the ball, it goes still. In comparison to how her last attempt at friendly capture went, she hadn't dared presume she'd be able to do it easily, but, here she was. Picking the ball up off the ground, she examines it briefly, before smiling - though, she's sent away to her PC before much longer.
[break][break]
Prim resolves to actually, maybe, train her to make her strong - and then maybe find a better owner for her. She seemed like the type who'd do well with someone driven, goal-oriented. Someone who liked to battle.
[break][break]
As she thinks about it, on she goes, down the road!

[break] writes rude pokemon for fun
Not far down, does Prim come across several holes in the ground...? At first, she thinks a Pokemon's been digging around, a very excited Pokemon... but as there's more of them, she realizes they're connected to a small tunnel system? Tilting her head to the side, she leans over to examine one closely - not quite making the connection between tunnels and a certain hot-dog-shaped-Pokemon - when suddenly, the hole-digger herself pops up out of the earth, spraying loam and dirt all over Prim. [break][break] "A-Agh!" She exclaims, rubbing at her face. "That's so rude!" As if the Pokemon really had a concept... or maybe it did, if the furrowed expression it seemed to wear was any indication. In fact, it seemed to be taunting her? [break][break] Not really wanting to fight it, or even... be around it, now that she had dirt in her mouth, Prim decides to stand upright and hop over the next few holes, while the Pokemon tried to follow after her, making disgruntled, and perhaps instigating noises the whole while. It eventually gives up chase, as the sound of it thumping into a nearby rock sounds, and it sulks away into the earth. A shame!

Turning around, she stares at the various holes in the ground, and briefly contemplates whether or not she should fill them in - before realizing it isn't her place to do so. But... what if someone comes by and falls into one? Stopping, she can't help herself but to scamper back over a few of the deeper holes, scuffing dirt over into it with one of her shoes before turning back around to make way for the path again. [break][break] She stops, though, as she sees splayed upon a nearby rock is a Popplio. A happy thing he seems to be, clapping his little flippers together excitedly. Prim had never seen a Popplio in person, but she'd seen a lot of them being cute in the occasional video online - playing games, making people laugh. Coming off of that moment of discontent with the Diglett (who luckily, hadn't come back around,) it felt pretty nice to smile. [break][break] After a few moments, the girl meanders closer, and the Popplio seems hardly phased - in fact, it seems rather happy, honking curiously and flopping around on the rock, like an excited puppy. "You're so cute, aren't you?" Prim notes, reaching her hand out to see the Pokemon, who quickly smushes his nose into her palm, honking again; it's so cute, that the girl things she might cry. "Ohhh, gosh. I don't wanna battle you, but I wanna take you home..." [break][break] Suddenly remembering something, she retrieves a blue Pokeball from the confines of her pouch, a thing covered in fake 'netting,' and after a few minutes of petting and cooing at the Pokemon, who seems to be LIVING for the attention, taps it against its head curious.

When the ball stops shaking, and she realizes she's captured yet another Pokemon through the power of friendship, Prim hops up in excitement. "Oh! Oh, great..." Looking at the ball, she smiles wide and happy, briefly rubbing the ball as if the Pokemon could feel it. "Thank you, I'm gonna take good care of you!" [break][break] A moment later and the ball is whisked away to the realm of the PC - something that never fails to surprise her, every time - and she's left alone once more. But that's okay, because she's got a newfound sense of happiness; though, she supposes she has to battle some, sometime right? Well, maybe not - but she wanted the Pokemon to get their exercise, and she knew how friendly sparring went with them. [break][break] Rubbing her hands together against the chill, she presses onward, excited to reach the next city.

Upon her walk, as she hums quietly to herself, eventually does she run into a man wearing a PokeMart apron, a box hoisted up on his hip. The moment he catches sight of Prim, he starts to flag her down, doing a quick jog over - and he smiles, simultaneously rummaging through the box. "Hello there, you're a trainer, right? I work for PokeMart, and we like to pass things out now and then to trainers to remind them of the things you can buy from us!" [break][break] He holds out two Awakenings, then, pretty blue bottles that glint in the light, which Prim promptly takes - though whether or not she'll use them any time soon is beyond her. It makes her happy to be given something all the same, and she beams right back at him. "Thank you! I hope you're staying warm, too, huh? It's still chilly..." [break][break] The man laughs a little, adjusting the way the box sat on his side with his arm. "I am, ma'am, thank you. You have a good afternoon now!"
[break][break] With a nod, she moves past him and puts the items away, happy to continue on.
