Shalin couldn't help but laugh hysterically when Alicia mentioned her having some common sense. "Even now, it's still a bit scary - he's even made me pass out once!" It wasn't under very good circumstances, but that story was one she would only share with her closest friends.
After the battle, Alicia appeared to be rather shaken after Flit chased the guitarist away. Not a surprise at all - the Yanmega's body was still shaking some even after he relaxed his wings. When offered the chance to switch off, Shalin was at first sad but realized a good point - Queen Zing would probably be easier on Alicia. "...Probably a good idea - we can switch off now. Be careful hopping down, though!"
Were Alicia to agree on the swap, she would signal for the two giant insects to switch places, the Beedrill crawling to the pink-haired female and beckoning her to jump aboard. Shalin seemed eager to climb atop Flit. After having to hold back a lot of his power for the new rider, the Yanmega loudly buzzed northward, flying quite ahead of Queen Zing and Alicia.
In the middle of the beach-side road was a sleeping Snorlax. It wouldn't be a problem for either of the riders to pass by, but the dragonfly was itching for a good fight. He landed on top of the sleeping Pokémon's chest and vibrated his wings as fast as he could without invoking a Bug Buzz, though the wind they produced was strong to unearth the red core gem of a Staryu buried in the sand. All he accomplished was making Shalin disoriented from the strong vibration Alicia had just experienced. The chaotic girl started to embrace it though, letting out a triumphant cry distorted by how much she was visibly shaking. Nothing seemed to wake the Snorlax! He continued north, disappointed the wild was that heavy of a sleeper.

Alicia winced a bit at the admission, looking Flit over at that. She could one hundred percent buy that Flit’s buzzing could knock someone out. The right frequency or, honestly, just enough raw power would do it. Fortunately, Shalin seemed to hear where she was coming from and agreed to a bug swap. She took a moment to slide off of the Yanmega and smiled. Just to make sure he didn’t feel bad about it, she reached over and gave him some gentle pets on the head before she left. Mounting up on a Beedrill might still be a frightful concept but at least the hornet wouldn’t have quite as much power in her wings. "Thanks. Flit's just too powerful for me to handle. You've really raised him well."
Still, seeing that Shalin was actually kind of happy to be riding Flit again made her sigh softly. “You’ve probably been with her long enough to know this, but your trainer is nuts.” Alicia quipped softly to Queen Zing. It was probably for the best that she’d waited for Flit to go roaring off with Shalin before mentioning that. It gave her a moment to direct Queen Zing down for a brief pit stop to pick up some Apricorns she’d just happened to spot. The various ways life flourished always fascinated her, especially now that she’d awoken to the ethereal power of Aura.
The low roar further ahead showed that either Flit had run into something or Shalin got worried and wanted to make sure Queen Zing could still find them. Either way, it was as good a wake up call as any that even a small amount of dawdling was likely to cause undue stress, so Alicia didn’t make her wait much longer. Still, it was amazing how much ground the massive bugs could cover. She wasn’t entirely sure how long the route itself was but she doubted there would be much more to this leg of her trip thanks to Shalin’s aid.
"Don't sweat it," Shalin answered as the two switched bug-types. Flit appreciated the affection, but it was difficult to tell, thanks to his expressionless compound eyes and his menacing-looking mandibles. "It was the same way with me at first. The way I got used to him was to have him anchor himself to the ground like he would for a Bug Buzz, then had him buzz them as though he was flying." Shalin paused, closing her eyes to collect her thoughts a moment. "Basically riding the vibration without flying...is what I meant. Though that's isn't truly ri--" The dragonfly, sensing Shalin was going to get herself in trouble if she finished her sentence, buzzed loudly and took off to the north.
The Beedrill wasn't one to dawdle, either - once Alicia had collected the loose Apricorns, she chased after Shalin and Flit with perhaps a bit more speed than she had previously shown. The pitch of the bug-type's drone grew higher as the two accelerated, bobbing up and down. If she were to look to one side, she would see the white wings were almost invisible.
Once Shalin was in sight, the Beedrill slowed and let Alicia control her, leaving her trainer to a beach encounter with a Kingdra that appeared to be causing all kinds of trouble off Cedar Town's coast. Several whirlpools surrounded the shore, making it almost impossible for amphibious Pokémon to leave or enter. Having seen enough of that from the get-go, the girl pushed Flit to buzz just barely above the Kingdra--well within range to drop a Quick Ball on its head. This was a battle she would rather avoid if she could...

Alicia nodded along with Shalin as she recounted her own early experiences with Flit. She also explained how she acclimated herself to the buzzing, and Alicia worked it over in her head. It made sense, even before Shalin clarified what she meant. But then she started to say something that perked curiosity. Not because of the content itself which seemed normal enough, but the fact that Flit had suddenly taken it as a cue to take off at top speed. Whatever it was, the Yanmega decided she didn’t want to hear it on his own.
So now she wanted to know even more. Alas she couldn’t devote much as she had to ride out the fairly jostling flight path of the hornet. She had indeed underestimated the Beedrill’s velocity, but it was still a much easier ride then Flit’s immense strength. All in all, she’d take it. Even the appearance of the wings having disappeared didn’t surprise her much. She was familiar enough with bug types to know that a number of them fluttered their wings so fast they basically disappeared.
They did, however, come across Shalin stealthily confronting what appeared to be an extremely riled up Kingdra. The pinkette agreed with the approach personally. She too wouldn’t have wanted to directly tango with that thing if she didn’t need to. However, the fuss the sea dragon was kicking up was terrifying another local. A terrified, extremely small Eevee was cowering a fair distance away, hoping to stay hidden enough to not attract the sea dragon’s ire.
They were right by Cedar, so Alicia directed Queen Zing to a landing and hopped off of her to go to comfort the little fluff ball. The little fox squeaked in shock as Alicia scooped the Eevee up into her arms and cradled it close to her body. The little one almost looked like it could be a baby, so she smiled softly down at it. “Shh... don’t worry, it’ll be over soon.”
She could only hope she was right. Shalin looked like she at least knew what she was doing when it came to catching Pokemon. She picked the right ball for the job, right? She didn’t dare look to confirm for herself. At the very least the Eevee was snuggling into her grip. Perhaps it was at least thankful for someone to be standing in the line of fire for it.
Once the Kingdra had been successfully captured, the waves around the beach calmed in short order. Her Quick Ball bobbed on the surface of the water, close to the epicenter of where the rough waves were. Tilting his wings toward the surface, Shalin's Yanmega dropped to hover just above the water and started beating them toward the shore. It didn't take long at all for the spheroid capsule to bob all the way to the beach, even rolling up the sands for a good distance before coming to a stop. A few keystrokes on her Pokédex app sent the Kingdra to storage with the rest of her Pokémon. That water-type was going to be a rough one to handle, perhaps beyond even the rest of her team.
By now, Alicia had mostly caught up to her partner in travel, Shalin seeing what appeared to be a baby Eevee cuddled in the girl's arms. It looked terrified - not surprising, given the angry Kingdra that had just been captured, as well as the two enormous insectile predators that could easily make a snack out of the tiny Pokémon if they wanted. She recalled both of her bug-types, replacing them with yet another Pokémon of great size for its kind. It was a golden Ninetales, content to fan her tails in a wave-like motion while her trainer finished attaching her gear. "Aww, look at the little one!" she smiled toward the two, wondering if she was going to take the Eevee with her.
Once Shalin had finished gearing up Captice, she climbed aboard. "Hey Alicia, I'm going on ahead," she called out to the female. "There's a Pokémon Center just north of the gate. I think it's at the intersection of...9th and Sand?" It was actually Sandstone Boulevard, but hopefully her message got across cleanly enough. It was hard enough keeping the streets of Ecruteak straight, let alone a city she had only passed through a couple of times. "I'll be there for an hour, maybe longer if it's busy. Catch you then!" With that, the two headed north, the fox's gallop quickly becoming inaudible as they got farther and farther away.

If she was being honest, the sound of the crashing waves dying down was a godsend. She wasn’t actually quite sure what she’d do with the little Eevee in the event that the Kingdra turned it’s ire towards them. Her team was ill equipped in both raw experience and sheer power. A Dragon type was not something one tangled with carelessly. Still, Shalin’s choice of Pokeball worked out, and the fearsome creature’s wrath was quelled as a result. Even so, unsurprisingly the fox wanted no business with the insects in the area. She looked over her shoulder to Shalin, about to say something, but the wild girl had already figured the message out herself and traded Flit and Queen Zing out for a very regal Ninetails.
Perhaps Shalin would catch the way Alicia’s eyes lit up at the sight of the abnormally sized golden kyuubi-no-kitsune. No time for comments, though, Shalin was at work tacking the golden beauty up for a ride. “Alright, I’ll meet up with you then. Once I sort out what I’m going to do with this little one at least.” And then she left Shalin be to take off, sighing softly. That Ninetails was just amazing, and she held high hopes for Reeshra and Makaro too when she got the chance to evolve them. She even allowed herself a small, almost childish giggle at the thought of the two foxes in their own nine tailed forms. There was a little bit of regret, however, from powdering Makaro so early. She would likely have to wait a very long time to see the other color of the regular Ninetails as a result. But her choices were made.
She gave the Eevee in her hands a small pet, before setting the fox down and smiling. “Run along now, okay? And try not to get into trouble.” She waited for a moment, expecting the young Eevee to run off given the chance. What surprised her though was that he stayed there and looked up to her.
“Vee…!” The little fox cooed softly up to her. And she looked into his eyes and swallowed softly. Then she laughed again, shaking her head.
“My goodness, do you little ones practice that look in the lake or something? Fine.” Fishing an Ultra ball out, she set it down and primed it. “Make the call, little one. I’ll accept you onto the team if you want.”

For a minute, explorer and fox looked each other in the eyes. The Eevee almost seemed to be considering it for a moment, and then turned tail and ran off. Alicia sighed softly at that, shrugging her shoulders. You couldn’t win them all, sometimes. And at the end of the day things were going to be the way they would be. She made to pick up the rejected Ultra Ball, only to hear the Eevee’s soft alerting yip. “Huh...?”
With a rustle of the bushes, an odd egg came rolling out, the Eevee close behind. It was kind of adorable to see him nosing the light blue egg, capped with white and yellow, towards her. But that also begged the question of why the Eevee was nosing the egg towards her. “Vee! Vee!” came the almost distressed cry as the fox looked up at her.
“You... want me to take this?” Alicia asked softly in shock, before looking the egg over. It wasn’t like anything she’d recalled seeing before. But it definitely didn’t match anything that could be Eevee related as far as she was aware. So why did an Eevee have it? Then again... there was that Kingdra earlier that was wrecking everything in a frenzy if waves and emotion. Is it possible...? She thought it was unlikely, but it did provide a viable explanation. She didn’t know much about breeding admittedly, so she would’ve needed to consult an expert on the topic if she wanted to know the answer for sure. That being said, there was an egg here now basically alone with no one to care for it.
“Alright... I’ll- oh.” Alicia looked up from her deliberation of what to do with the egg to see the Eevee had already disappeared into the bush again. With a smile, the brave explorer scooped the egg and the Ultra Ball it would inhabit upon hatching up into her arms. There was something she needed to do very quick, but it wouldn’t take her long, and then she’d meet back up with Shalin.
She could only wonder what the wild girl would think of what happened.
