As they walk along, Prim sincerely regrets not purchasing a map before going off on this impromtu journey. Just how long was this trail? Never one to quit, she's intent on seeing it through, but man her brain was just crying 'are we there yet?' the entire time. At least Ranger was enjoying exploring, even if it was giving her some mild anxiety the entire time. As she walks along, she uses the small display on her camera to flip through the photos she'd taken, deleting the bad ones, remembering the good ones... before she looks up to see yet another pink blob meandering around the road, seemingly looking for something? Or someone?
Primrose freezes. Oh god, oh fuck. Was that Igglybuff's mom? Her eyes float to her satchel, and then back to the Wigglytuff. Maybe if she just played it cool. Oh, god, she hoped playing it cool worked.
"C'mon Ranger, let's get going, huh? I wanna see if we can get to the forest's edge soon." Cautiously, the girl meanders past the Pokemon, clutching her bag tightly the whole way.

When the Cubone waddles into view, out from behind a patch of grass, Prim can't help but think - wow, am I some kind of magnet? And then, her mind immediately turns to, WAIT A SECOND, THAT POKEMON'S AN ORPHAN. She knows Cubone - they're sad little things, usually. Wailing and whining into the night, all alone. Did she know if, for certain, it was an orphan? Maybe not.
But logistically, she knew the rumors, and the stories, and she-- well, she didn't really know what else to feel except awfully sad for the little fellow. Though, as she nears it, the Cubone seems to notice her, and rattles the skull it wears on its head menacingly, growling all the while. Here, she reminds herself that not everyone needs help, and it looked pretty unhappy with her approach. Drawing away from the Pokemon, she calls a growling Ranger after her, the pup close on her heels.
"Let's leave him be, I don't think he wants us to bother him." Prim murmurs, though she can't help but feel kinda bad, in doing so.

Walking on, Prim hopes that, in the silence, she has finished running into Pokemon. Not that she didn't mind it, but wow, this walk was seriously tempting her, huh? Luckily, the Cubone had waddled off into the woods, and the two were at last alone. Ranger occupies himself with exploring the general area again, his snout pressed to the dirt as he goes along, until that keen little sense of smell catches on to something, and once more the pup dives into the underbrush.
Luckily, it returns pushing the little bottles of burn heal across the dirt, until they sat at her feet.
"Huh! You're actually... really, really good at this." It wasn't the first time she'd noticed it, but she felt the need to praise Ranger for it again - he seemed to like it, if the flick of those floppy ears was anything to go by. "Thanks, Ranger. I'm sure these'll come in handy sometime!"

Now, she'd passed up the last several Pokemon in favor of playing it safe, of not wasting - but. But. When that little Snivy catches her attention, Prim knows she can't do it this time. Snivy was a useful, very strong Pokemon - when it evolved, anyway. She also knows she probably shouldn't just try to... make friends with it like she'd done with the Igglybuff. Battling is probably the smarter idea. Looking at Rockruff, she recalls rock and grass not being a particularly good match-up. So, retrieving his ball from her satchel, she bids Ranger to return -- and quickly, she replaces him with Igglybuff.
Not yet having a name for him, she kneels down and just pats him on the head, the little thing sniffling once, before seeming to grow content with the warmth of Prim's hand. "We're gonna try a battle, okay? I'm sure you'll do great!"
"Here, uhm... do you know Sing? Use Sing!" Prim calls, pointing at the Snivy, while also covering her own ears. Prim knew the danger of those songs, just how easy it could be to put someone to sleep. Igglybuff began to sing then, a sweet, slow little melody that catches that Snivy off guard, at first alarmed, but then unable to resist the song - who then falls asleep, unable to do anything in return.
Excitedly, Prim clasps her hands together and says, "Okay, okay! Now, uhm... pound! Use pound!" She says - watching as the Iggybuff waddles over and just SLAPS the sleeping Pokemon. It kind of makes her feel bad, especially seeing as the Snivy opens its eyes only briefly, before succumbing to its exhaustion again. "Uhm, one more time! One more pound..."
Does poor Primrose sound sad? Maybe a little. Especially as Igglybuff's little hands smack down on the Snivy again. But that should do it... Snivy seemed to be awakening, but Prim thinks the moment's right. So, reaching into her satchel, she produces a Pokeball. Hefting it in her hands once, she throws it at the Pokemon right as it seems to come to entirely.

For a few sordid moments, Prim can only sit and languish what it's like being a Pokemon trainer. It was so nerve wracking - between battling and waiting and waiting and w a i t i n g to see if the ball will stop jiggling... and then it does! Perking up considerably, Prim wears a wide grin, looking between her and the Igglybuff excitedly. "Hey, we did it!"
Extending a hand, she ruffles the top of the little Pokemon's head, who, despite having been rather nervous before, lets out a happy noise. "You did so good! And your song was great!" Igglybuff bounces on his tiny little feet a moment, before looking for the world like he was about to sing again -- but Prim manages to stop him. "I gotta finish this walk, but you can totally sing for me later, okay little guy?"
Though he seems upset by this development, the little orb of a Pokemon nods, and is subsequently returned to his ball, leaving Prim on her own for the first time since obtaining Ranger. But, she didn't really mind. She'd continue her walk, seeing the canopy of tall, tall trees looming in the distance. Not too much longer! She'd turn around here, surely, but... well, she'd already done and found some pretty great things. Who's to say there wasn't anything else?
