Not long after, Prim comes across a small girl sat upon a rock on the side of the road, her stocking-covered legs kicking slightly in that childish way kids always tended to - and Prim can hardly resist meandering over to smile - and, perhaps, to just talk. As she comes closer, however, the girl perks up and offers a smile first, though it's devious as she hops up, smooths out her dress, and points directly at Primrose, almost authoritatively. "You there!" She exclaims, her tiny voice surprisingly loud for a child her size. [break][break] "Oh, hi --" Prim starts, though she can already tell where this is going. [break][break] "Battle me! Battle me, pleaaaaseeee, right now, battle me!!" She says, "I want to battle! I've been waiting ALL DAY and nobody's come and I want to fight!! I wanna get really good, so battle meeee!" Unable to say no in the face of a child, much less one so bossy, Primrose sighs and admits defeat. [break][break] "Sure, we can battle." [break][break] "YAAAAAAAAY!" She hops off her rock, reaching into her satchel and immediately tossing out her first Pokemon; Snubbul. It doesn't look terribly scary, and for that, Prim is relieved. Not that she thought a little girl would have a scary Pokemon, but still... Prim sends out Ranger in response, the pup sniffing curiously in the direction of the other. [break][break] "Ranger, use bite!" Prim says, just as the little girl bids Snubbul to use Ice Fang - in her mind, Prim recalls how Ice reacts with Rock, pleased to see that it seems to do little by way of effect Ranger, whose jaws bite down upon the Snubbul easily. They get into a small skirmish then, with each girl back and forth suggesting they bite, or tackle -- until she says, "Snubbul, use Charm!" [break][break] It's enough to distract Rockruff that the pink Pokemon gets a Ice Fang in, nearly knocking him, prone, before she gets thrown in turn by a particularly rough tackle. After a few moments, and with Ranger stopping to lick his wounds, so to speak, it seems the Snubbul has given up, rolling over upsettedly. Ranger moves over to Prim's side and is rewarded with a soft rub behind the ears, and Primrose seems ready to leave, but... [break][break] "Hey, hey wait! I've got more Pokemon, okay? Stay here, I wanna fight again!" Prim inwardly sighs again, but nods; she knew when she was a kid, she'd have wanted the time of day, too. What a pushover she was, huh?
After a moment of pouting, the little girl returns her Snubbul and replaces it with a Ducklett - a little blue baby that Primrose actually finds cute - but it's water type, and she knew that Rockruff wasn't a good match-up. But the little girl looked pretty disappointed - so as Prim withdrew Rockruff, rather than sending out one of her Pokemon she knew would defeat the Ducklett easily, she returns with Encore - her Igglybuff. [break][break] The little Pokemon bounces about briefly, before seeming to realize there was a battle to be won, and it takes on what Prim can only approximate as it's attempt at a 'kung fu stance.' The look of it makes her laugh, but the little girl is so serious about her fight that... well, there's no time. She starts first it seems, pointing at the pair and saying, "Ducklett, use barrier!" A shimmery barrier comes over the Pokemon, though Prim doesn't seem to mind as she taps her chin and says, "Encore, use Sing!" [break][break] All too happy, the Pokemon starts to release a song, slow and sweet, that wafts on the breeze over to the Ducklett, who's quick to yawn and and fall asleep, even with a barrier to protect it - it curls up on the ground, snoozing lightly. "Hey, wait! Wait, that's no faaaaaaaair!" [break][break] Prim almost feels bad, but with a shrug, she points and says, "Now use pound!" Flying forward, the Pokemon slams its little pink body into the Ducklett, the barrier giving way, with the Ducklett knocking over... but still snoozing. "And again!" Another pound, a slap of its hands on the sleeping Pokemon's body, while its trainer squeals in displeasure. [break][break] The squeals and thumping seem to awaken it, but it's out of sorts; the little girl says, "Confusion! Ducklett, use confusion!" It manages, the sound sending Encore into a brief sway - but it has enough in it to tumble forward for one last pound, which is just enough to send the Pokemon into a state of unconsciousness -- and the girl is so upset. [break][break] "Nooo! I don't wanna lose!!! This isn't fair!" Whining, she goes to collect her now sleeping duck, and Prim couldn't help but feel bad... despite that the girl had insisted. Returning Encore to his ball, Prim goes over to her, but she picks up her ball and puffs out her cheeks at the woman. "No! I don't wanna fight no more... Leave me alone!" [break][break] "I-- Okay?--" Prim says, watching as the girl scampers off towards the exit of the route.
Walking along, the strange battle with the girl weighing slightly on her mind (really, how weird?,) Prim is distracted - so distracted that she doesn't seem to notice the little Squirtle, tiny as it was, waddling around the road. When it sees her, it seems surprised, hopping up briefly before scrambling over to a nearby tree-trunk, peeking out from behind it cautiously. [break][break] Prim kneels over slightly when she sees it, smiling at the small thing. "Oh, hey there." It seemed to worry she was going to fight it - but, she didn't have any such notions in mind, instead reaching into her satchel for one of the treats she carried around with her, and holding it out toward the Squirtle. "Do you want a snack?" [break][break] When it catches whiff of food, it seems interested but still anxious, and Prim's patient the whole while it takes the Squirtle to reach out with a tiny finned hand and snatch the small biscuit out of her hand and... flee into the trees. Standing upright, she huffs out, but seems endeared all the same.
A few moments later, just as Prim starts to walk away, the rustling sounds return and that Squirtle comes bursting forth from the bushes with a bright pink orb in waving over its head. With a huffing-puffing stop, it holds the little ball out to Primrose, who looks awfully surprised - but happy, as she takes it from the Squirtle. "Oh, thank you..." [break][break]
After a moment, she reaches her hand out and pats it on the head, which it responds with a faint cooing; a sound that makes the trainer smile wide. "You're so cute! I'm glad you liked your treat, friend. You have a good day, okay?" With one more pat, Prim straightens out and walks by, leaving the Squirtle behind - who offers a wave before meandering back towards the bushes.
Just before exiting the route, a small gate signifying her arrival, a Zigzagoon comes barreling out of the nearby grass; and boy, did it look mad. While it could've just as easily been the way the Pokemon looked attributing to that, the way its fur stood on end and it went to chomp down on the toe of Prim's shoe told her that it was, really, just kind of a little meanie. [break][break] As she shakes herself free of its little mouth, it seems to snicker at her, shaking its whole body in preparation for a fight - only to find itself disappointed as she huffs at it instead and makes for a quick stride over to the gate, hopping over it rather than going through it just to spite the little thing, that looks absolutely distraught at having lost a new friend? Or, whatever the hell it saw Prim as. Maybe even prey![break][break]
"Gooon..." It crones, looking sad as he waddles off. Prim straightens her hair out and makes for the town proper then. Served it right!
