Set in the original region of Arciel, Legends Rising is a route-inspired, but not strictly route-based, Pokemon roleplay. Pick a faction, pick a class, and strike out into the wild to take on the League, master Contest coordination, research the mysteries of Pokemon and Arciel, and much, much more. Will you be a classic trainer? A criminal? A farmer? Choose your destiny on Legends Rising.
The Ultra ball dinged shut after a few shakes, much to Jedah's relief, and the Skarmory was his. Brutus gave a curt nod as if to say "yeah, THAT'LL teach ya" before reaching out with a little foot and tapping the button that would minimize the ball so he could carry it more easily to his trainer. Once it shrank he hopped on top of it - twice for good measure - and lifted it up off the ground to return to Jedah and drop it in his outstretched hand. Blaze had come down to flutter around her master's head, chirping excitedly at the newly acquired team member (and someone much stronger and larger than they were, to boot!) before soaring off again to return to her own devices.
Brutus watched her go, the stern look in his eyes not fading in the slightest. He was plenty strong enough for all of them, wasn't he? Huffing, the bird nestled his big, poofy self against Jedah's neck and dutifully watched Blaze twirl and dip in the sky, keeping an eye out for danger and sulking in his own thoughts. Jedah's petting finger earned a nip in return, but he nestled against that in time and the pair set off again, trailing lazily after the peppy Fletchling.
They're not that much further now, he wagered, feeling the pokeballs, both full and empty, hanging heavy in his coat pocket. Already he was making plans as to what he would do when he got to the next area. Maybe put himself up in a room for the night - since he was far too old to be milling around with the younger trainers (not to mention the first time he'd gone to the hostel he'd gotten in trouble for providing them with alcohol) - with some nice sheets, hit up the bar and see if they needed any help. Yeah, that sounded good. It'd been a while since he'd poured out a few drinks, either for himself or for an appreciative crowd, and he could use the practice lest he get rusty.
He crested a hill and found himself suddenly stopped by an odd sight a few feet away. Up ahead, a strange turtle-like creature was crossing the path at a leisurely pace, and Blaze - was sitting on top of his shell, chirping happily as the pokemon went about his business. Brutus immediately roused himself from whatever pensive state he'd been in and squawked to get the red bird's attention. She looked over with another chirp and hopped around in circles on the Chewtle - Jedah discovered via the app on his phone - before flapping up and soaring over to them and alighting on Jedah's shoulder.
The Chewtle didn't look at all bothered by this and continued on, determined to keep on doing his thing. Althought Brutus eyed him suspiciously - already puffing up to establish dominance - Jedah didn't bother it any, and simply let it cross before they continued on their way.
At some point Jedah realized that the buildings had stopped growing and were, in fact, staying roughly the same but that there were great looming trees getting closer and closer that it hit him. Wasn't there supposed to be an entire forest he had to get through prior to making it to - what was it, Ash City? He couldn't believe he'd forgotten about that, and felt himself groan internally at the prospect of having to make it through yet another route without the proper shoes. It might be best to head back and rest up in Birch, at this rate, prior to advancing any farther.
Unless the forest was small and he could make his way through there quicker than he was making it through Route 7... He somehow doubted it, but he supposed he'd see for himself once he got to the base of the forest itself.
It was as he was debating this that Blaze chirped beside him, drawing his attention to the direction she was looking. There on the ground, barely knee-high, was a tiny little bird with wings that were shaped like fans at the end. Or was it holding fans? He couldn't quite tell.
Having never seen one of these creatures before he consulted the app and was rather amused to see that it was, in fact, a bird pokemon - and a dancer at that, if the pokedex entry was to be believed. An Oricorio, huh? Apparently it could even change form by consuming different colored nectars, which was interesting enough by itself.
As he watched, the pokemon began to spin, slowly, waving its fan-wings around in a dreamy, windmill-like motion as it moved from side to side, lost in a rhythm entirely of its own. He couldn't help but find himself enamored with it, and after fingering the capture ball in his pocket a little longer, stepped forward to engage the little bird. As soon as it noticed that he was approaching it stilled and looked up in alarm, looking for all the world like it would flee - but Jedah immediately stilled, showing the bird he wasn't going to run it over any time soon.
As the bird watched, he raised one arm, lowered the other - and began to languidly move his hips, not unlike the way the bird had been dancing before. Delighted, the creature went back to her dreamy, slow movements, and while Jedah couldn't mimic her perfectly he did his best; perhaps his earnestness bled through well enough to connect with the bird. Brutus and Blaze remained on his shoulders the whole time and, while Blaze happily flapped her wings and went along with her master's motions, Brutus fluffed himself up and kept a grumpy expression on his face the whole way through.
Once Oricorio was done she trilled happily, making clapping motions with her palm, and Jedah bowed to her. She bowed back, beaming happily up at him, and held her wings up as though reaching out to him. Jedah liked to think he got the message loud and clear and, gently, closing the distance between them with a single stride of his long legs, bent down to tap her with his last remaining Nest Ball to catch her.

The ball seemed to still faster than normal, and Jedah felt his lips quirk in wry amusement. Brutus gave another huff and settled himself down enough that his feet weren't showing and he was just a little round ball of bird perched carefully on Jedah's shoulder, whilst Blaze gave a series of chirps and soared over to the ball to meet her new friend. She alighted on Jedah's arm and hopped around and around it in circles in celebration. If the Oricorio could see from inside the ball, hopefully it would be appreciative of the little welcome Jedah's Fletchling was giving it.
Jedah drew the ball back into his pocket to tuck with the others he'd gotten this journey. All in all, it wasn't a bad haul; he was actually rather eager to get the Drifloon out again to examine its colors a little more critically; he'd only seen the surface area of its body that was changed, but he wasn't sure of any other variants off the top of his head.
From here, it looked like his earlier hunch about a large forest before the next area proved correct, and he felt his shoulders droop a little. He had no means to camp, and he was starting to get tired and maybe a little sweaty. Maybe. It was hard to tell with how hard the wind was still blowing, but he knew that if it kept up he would be a very cranky Jedah indeed, and nobody needed that. But still he persisted, and continued on the path that led up to the treeline, hoping that he might be able to see some small settlements within the closer he got.

As Jedah's footsteps took him closer to what he now saw was the border of the forest, with no settlements in sight, he felt his shoulders droop enough that Fletchling rolled off, overdramatic, and immediately went ahead with a beat of her tiny wings. Brutus' eyes were closing like he were tired - as though he had done most of the walking - but when Blaze soared back with two berries clutched in her little feeties did he crack one eyes open to peer at her arrival.
She alighted on Jedah's hand and dropped first one, then the other in his palm, chirping happily when he rubbed over the top of her head and doing a little hop-dance in his hand around the berries. Jedah looked from her to the forest and sighed, peering this way and that as though to see if there were any other ways through it, ways that had more people and less... wildlife.
When he saw none, he rubbed at the back of his neck and debated his next course of action. Going through here would take him to East Arciel, but he wasn't really geared up for the walk and the inevitable pokemon that followed. He could camp here - or just take a little rest and let Brutus have a few potions, but he was woefully unprepared.
Well. At least he'd be able to make it back now that he'd mapped out the way here. He looked to Brutus for his input, got a squawk and a peck to his hand in return, and, chuckling, went on his way.
