Arietta's life needed a welcome distraction from the mess that the last month had turned out to be, something that distanced her from things her brain was still struggling to process, and that welcome distraction was hearing from Eliza that her boyfriend was nearby to the girls own home base, in Bass. It wouldn't hurt to check on somebody completely and utterly oblivious to Ara's life crumbling down around her! Who won't ask for the fiftieth time that day if she was okay, because she was totally fine.
Totally fine. If the thick scarf wrapped around her bruised neck was an indication. Perfectly fine. She'd begun down route 1 all but ready to meet up with the literal baby that Liz was dating, Calando floating by her side, squeaking along with whatever Arietta had been telling him.
"Y'know, the traffic for the blog is actually up this month, Cal!" truth be told, Calando had no idea how a blog could have traffic, but he squeaked along anyway, his tail flicking slightly, "That means i'll have to post more- though i've been... hesitant to post about... the thing everybodies been tweeting me about- it's fine, really really fine!" A hair flip and a laugh, and Calando let out a soft squeak, moving to float closer and press a soft hand to her forearm.
He'd seen what went down, fine probably was a stupid way to put it, but go on, Arietta. "I could post a dance tutorial to some poppy song- like think android girl, or miss atomic bomb~" Calando had no idea what those songs were, but dancing was always fun! He let out another excited chitter, nodding at the girl who practically beamed at him in response. "Perfect, i'll do that then!"
As she moved down the route, she was a little too caught up in talking to Calando and was completely oblivious to the world around her, she'd stopped right under a big tree upon realizing this, eyes blinking a few times... oh right, she was... had she already passed him? Eyes flicked back behind her, blinking rapidly. What if she had already... of course the one time she wasn't focused she probably had to be.
Well, whatever. If he was on the route anyway he'd probably call out when he saw her, onwards! "And my mini-concerts in a few days, Cal, do you think i'll be okay to sing by then- my throat still kinda hurts..." another squeak and the girl rolled her eyes, "I'm not being dramatic!"

Jamie was a little more distracted than he probably should've been while on the route to Cedar, but he had good reason to be! It was his first real time out in the world by himself and with his Pokemon, and he was excited as hell! Yes, he'd gathered a fairly-sized squad of birds in just a week or so in Birch, but that didn't change that he was still super new to this whole "Pokemon Journey" thing. He was bouncing with excitement with every step. Any shake in the grass could be a Pokemon for him to catch, every person he passed by a trainer he could battle, and it was just chilly enough--but not too cold--for there to be a possibility of snow. What more could he ask for? This was perfect!
Of course, Eliza had texted him that he might not be as "alone" for this walk as he had planned to be. For some reason she'd insisted that one of her friends from her home-town come and escort him along. He didn't understand why, seeing as he was just as capable as anyone with a Pokemon could be, and didn't think he needed to be babied, but she'd been very insistent. Very, very insistent. Ugh, Jamie didn't like feeling like he was being kept out of a loop, but at the same time this definitely wasn't his business.
Eliza had always been weirdly closed-off when he asked about some of her friends. He'd seen them dance and even dropped in on some of their rehearsals--and was babied to hell and back because back then he'd been only, what, eleven? Bah!--but he still didn't know very much about them outside them being his friend's friends...or...well...
Girlfriend?...yeah. Yeah, that's the word. Hah, I'm still getting used to that.
He was, thankfully, distracted from his already very distracting thoughts by the sight of a very strange looking Raichu that looked to be floating on its tail. Huh. That was an Alolan Raichu, right? He had never seen one before. He had, however, seen the girl it was floating next to. Jamie's lips split into a wide grin and he rushed up to meet her.
"Ariettaaaa!" Jamie came up to a few feet in front of her then stopped, eyes going wide all of a sudden. After a moment of staring at her funny he lifted his hand, put it on top of her head, and then lifted it up to meet his own...several inches higher than hers. "Wh-whoa, I didn't think I'd grown that much since I last saw you in person! Uh--hey!"
She was still, like, three years older than him, right? But she looked so tiny!
When the hell did that happen?
Ah well. His smile returned and he moved in for a one-armed hug, unable to keep from snickering slightly at how she only came up to his chin now. "How the heck have you been, Ari? Liz says 'hi'. Obviously. She also said to ask you 'why' but, um, no context?"
In the middle of Arietta and Calando's unintentional rag-tag comedy routine a voice broke through, and ARietta's gaze was quickly alerted to the presence of a... familiar, yet vaguely different red-head. "Jamie!" A hand was raised, only to be lowered in surprise. Her eyes widened significantly and she couldn't help the confused giggle that left her lips, he used to be tiny?! He went to straight away commpare sizes and she rolled her eyes playfully, she wasn't that small was she?! Though to him it probably was a big difference, her being taller then him the last time they met, "Arceus, puberty hit you like a tonne of bricks!"
How old was he now? 15? 16? What even were the years. "Aww don't rub it in, literally anybody can beat me in height these days- keep sprouting and you're gonna end up taller than Callie!" she was practically swept into a side hug and couldn't help letting out another laugh, shit she'd forgot how much energy he was. "Probably can't even call you kiddo now, you're like a giant- nice seeing you again!"
Calando who was next to her set out a series of confused coo's and Ari moved out the hug to gently pat the top of his head, earning a series of soft noises in return. She almost missed him asking how she'd been, and fought to keep the same grin on her face- "U-Uh... Good! Yeah- yeah life's been good- isn't a day where i'm not dancing~" A gesture besides her,
"Oh! I've gotten a bunch of mons now! This here's Calando, he's a real softie so don't be scared of him now!" Calando let out a squeak in response, a hand waving as he surfed around Jamie for a few seconds, scrutinising him before returning to Arietta's side with a nod, as if satisfied with what he saw.
Of course Liz said hi.. and then why- oh she'd probably seen either the pictures or the blog- but knowing Jamie had no context and probably hadn't seen anything made things easier. That and they spoke literally daily- arceus where could Arietta get herself a relationship like that. "Tell her I said hi back for me, yeah?" A hand pushed through her hair as she moved to begin walking, "And for the why bit, uh, say I have no idea what she's referencing at, at all!"
It wasn't the coldest day in record, and she kinda hoped that she'd be able to get Calando a little stronger too, he seemed insistent on it ever since they'd come back from hell, sooo why should she deny him that? "Oh- oh! Sorry I totally forgot!" She clapped her hands infront of her and peered up at Jamie, situating a more natural looking smile on her face, "You're just starting out, right? Isn't that exciting! Have you got everything you need, pokeballs, battle strategy- you've gotta be hyped, right?"
Post by James "Jamie" Wilson on Dec 21, 2019 0:22:36 GMT
"Apparently! Yeah, uh, I didn't even realize it because Liza's still so tall but...wow!" Jamie let out a bark of laughter at the look on her face. It was strange looking down at somebody he'd spent so much of his life looking up at--and up to, to some extent. He'd admired all of the girls in Pixie Nightmare Girls even if he only knew them mostly second-hand. Getting up on stage in front of a crowd was what he wanted to do himself, so of course he would hold people who did the same in pretty high regard! Except for Eliza, because Eliza was way too familiar for him to admire. That would just be weird.
His cheeks flushed faintly pink in embarrassment and, once he'd released Arietta from the hug, he rubbed the back of his neck at her teasing. "Nope, no more 'kiddo' or 'cutie' or whatever over here. I'm not a kid, I'm a full-fledged coordinator! So. Sh-Shush!" Jamie was grateful to bounce his attention to the Alolan Raichu in all its splendor. Grin growing brighter again he extended a hand for it to shake paws with. "Nice to meet you, Calando! I bet you and her Dedenne get along pretty well, huh?" A moment's pause and he tilted his head back. "Err...wait, are Dedenne and Raichu related at all? No?"
These damn similar mouse-like Electric types, always confusing me...
"What else have you caught? Anything especially dazzling you've got to 'wow' me?"
Jamie shrugged at Arietta's casual dismissal of Eliza's question--was it a question? Eh--and started walking alongside her down the road. He lifted his arms so his hands were interlocked behind his head, elbows forward. "She said she'd call you before the next time she's in for rehearsal, but she's been busy prepping for the final move to Bass. I think she's really excited to be back 'home' again." He'd miss having her in Cherry, but then again he wasn't in Cherry himself, either. He'd be able to visit her as much as he wanted to while travelling! And...it would make some things easier if she had her own place. Ahem. He coughed, blushing a little again, and shrugged. "I got Pokeballs from Professor Holly and a 'dex, and--OH, I didn't show you my team! Hang on!"
Without so much as another step forward he un-clicked a trio of Pokeballs from his belt, tossing them up a foot or so where they expanded and burst open in a flash of light. When it dispersed there stood a lovely flock of three feathered "friends", each one a unique shape and color (and size, in one's case) but all still sharing facial features. Each Oricorio looked up at Arietta and had very different responses: Jackson, the Pom-Pom Oricorio, gave a cheerful chirp and did a quick spin-and-split on the ground; Gracieuse the Sensu-style Oricorio looked her over and then lifted a fan-shaped wing to cover her face in a most mysterious (and haughty) manner; and finally, precious shiny Baile-style Astaire looked from Arietta to Calando, squawked in fright, and leaped behind Jamie.
"Astaire, no! She's not a trainer--I mean, she is, but...she's a friend!" Jamie turned and pulled the frightened little bird up into his arms, brilliant black feather gleaming in the sunlight. His smile weakened a little at his starter's awkwardness. Good first impression or not, at least he hadn't run away. "This is my starter, Astaire, and the other two are Jackson and Gracie. I got both of them in the Wonder Trade, and two Oricorio eggs! I think Arceus was telling me something." Jamie snickered and set Astaire down, who still only looked up at Arietta from behind his wings, which he was hiding behind. "Gorgeous aren't they? I'm saving up to get powder to make 'em all shiny. Gotta be uniform, right?"
A full fledged coordinator at only 16- arceus he's got a life in store for him, but she can definitely see him enjoying life under the spotlight- oh just imagine the papers on the coordinator idol pair that he and Liz are! That'd be great publicity! "Okay okay mr. coordinator, no more kiddo for you-" A headtilt, followed by an almost cheshire, teasing grin. "How does tweenie sound, then?" Get it? Tween... weenie... well she thought it was funny!
Calando outstretched his paw and eagerly returned the handshake, eyes sparkling at Jamie. This was a good person! His tail flicked a few times under him at the mention of Aumia and he rose a little higher in the air, an excited noise leaving his throat. Yeah! Aumia loved dancing, and he loved dancing! "He and Mi-Mi get along great! Oh, and Calypso too, my Pikachu! It's like an electric bond or something, I swear." hands moved to her hips and she thought for a minute, "I... don't think they're related lines- maybe like distant cousins? They have the same cheek things..."
She blinked, before squinting at Calando, who smiled at her in response and scrunched up his little nose. "Whatever the case, I want all the ones with the cheek things, they're so cute??" The pikachu line, the emolga line, the pachirisu line... All of them! PNG had the thing about not having any type other then dark and fairy, but Arietta had a serious weakness for cute pokemon, sue her. Just that type on stage, she'll interpret it as!
Hands moved off her hip to adjust her scarf for a second as he spoke once more... what... else had she caught that'd blow him away? A smirk rested on her lips, she had one mon who she knew would get some sort of reaction, her darling Ossia seemed to always scare people, or frighten them away, but really she was the sweetest thing! "I do have Ossia, oh you'll love her!"
She fumbled around for a ball for a moment before pulling out Ossia's, and pressing the center button. A series of dark, ominious noises bumbled out before her Runerigus broke forth, her spirit body whisping and wavering around her while she twisted and turned to get a grasp on her surroundings, letting out a few more grunts and growls before noticing Arietta. "She's actually the cutest- like- look at her?" A very flustered groan left Ossio's body, distorted, and one of her floaty hands moved to press at her 'face'. She floated over to the girl, who moved to settle a hand carefully on one of Ossia's stones as she walked, a giggle leaving her lips. "Sia's a little shy, but she's so pretty~"
Continuing down now, Arietta let out a hum. Liz was moving to Bass? How did she forget?! Hearing she was excited for it all Arietta nodded, "You've been taking care of her and helping her prepare, I hope?" She gave him a side-eye, "Using those big-boy muscles of yours?" Did he even have muscles? Arietta couldn't tell, but the tease would probably cause another giggle worthy reaction. "But yeah, i'll keep my phone off silent then- hopefully the move and what's in store for PNG is... all she want's to talk about..." Arceus forbid if she brings up Gabe and the media shitstorm that is her life Arietta will scream.
Oh yeah! His new team! Arietta was curious, and brought her hands towards her as she awaited the big reveal- what types would Jamie go for? Roselia, maybe? Her eyes widened at the bird trio were revealed- oh they were so pretty! Oricorio's! She waved at each as they revealled themselves, a smile now resting on her features. One seemed rather anxious, which she understood! Hopefully Jamie would be able to work with them to overcome that, especially if he was going to bring them into contests. "Oh they're so pretty!" Arietta said, hand going to her cheek as the marvelled at them. Ossia from besides her let out a low, almost threatening growl, staring at them all. "Do you plan to get more? A team full of them would absolutely astound, I reckon. Arceus has gotta want you to just show the tiny dancers off!" she continued walking, a little bit more pep in her step now.
There was so much opportunity for Oricorio's in contests! "Have you got any coordination moves lined up for them yet? I'd love to see!"

Tweenie...sigh...no matter how tall he got or how old he got, he was never going to not be the baby of the group, was he? Well, duh, that was how time functioned. He could wish, though. It wouldn't help. "I'm not a tween, either! I'm sixteen! Bah, I'm dreading the next time I see everybody. I'm going to get mauled." Jamie brought his hand up just to drag it dramatically over his face. "Oh well...that's how it's always been, I guess..."
He was only joking around. As much as he didn't like being babied, he liked that they liked him enough to be so friendly--even if it was friendliness disguised by teasing.
"Yeah, same electric-cheek-pouch-whatsits." Jamie put his fingers to his own cheeks and did a little circled around in demonstration. "There's even that one ghost that tries to look like them. Wonder how that works out for it..." Poor, poor Mimikyu. If only it wasn't so spooky he'd consider finding one, but a Pokemon whose whole thing was killing any person who saw under it's disguise probably wasn't the best thing for the stage. At the mention of a name he took a step back so Arietta could call out whatever spectacular Pokemon she thought he'd find appealing...and it was a good thing he did because when that pokeball popped open and a large painting stood there. Jamie blinked. A pain--OH.
When the Runerigus extended her arms out a few things happened very quickly. Jamie let out a very masculine yelp of surprised and poor terrified Astaire leaped so high in the air he wound up stuck to his trainer's head, feathers fluffed up in fear. It distracted him enough to gather himself so as to not look so shocked by the ghost. "H-Hey, she's pretty cool, yeah...um, Astaire, your beak is in my eye..." Jamie pulled the reluctant Oricorio off of his face but didn't let him down from his arms. He looked over Ossia again, eyes critical, but not in a mean way. "Her markings are very impressive! Where'd you even find her?" There weren't a lot of cursed paintings laying around Bass, were there? Huh.
Arietta's next questions turned his cheeks are red as his hair. Jamie ducked his head down slightly and chuckled, suddenly uncharacteristically shy. "She, um, I mean...yes? But also no, because she kept telling me to plan for my journey and not worry about her...we're...uh," his blush cooled a little and he raised his head just slightly, brow knit a little tighter as he considered how to say this. Arietta was his and Eliza's friend, though, so she'd understand this, right? "We're not technically dating until we meet up again in Bass. I don't get why she said that. Like, it's a month or so at best, so why even take a break? But then again I didn't even know she liked me until...literally Halloween of this year. Was that dense of me?" Not that he really needed the answer to that question--he knew he was clueless about romance. He knew that very, very well. But still... "I don't understand her insistence. Especially since we're still calling or texting daily. It's weird."
He shook his head again. "Not yet. Except for Jackson, they're still too low-leveled to really know any moves. We're working on it though! And I should have a fourth to complete the set, soon, if I'm lucky." Jamie paused and pursed his lips in thought. "Also, you're more in-tuned with the scene than I am--is it gaudy if I use shiny powder on all of them? Not for, like, extra points, and I wouldn't normally...but Gracie's a bit, uh, touchy about not being the shiniest on the team. It only feels fair to do change 'em all."
Ossia wasn't a fan of the negative reaction from the bird, and probably would have growled further and moved to swat it if Arietta wasn't gently patting her painting to keep her calm. Jamie and his birds were fairly close, hm? How long had he had them, anyway? Arietta was unfamiliar. Smile still present on her face, she answered his question easily. "Somebody had abandoned her at the back of the dance studio, by the trash- I thought she was just a pretty painting and was gonna check it out, but it actually turned out to be a pokemon- Ossia!" a hand moved and waved as if saying ta-da! and Arietta giggled. Ossia attempted to mimick her laugh, but it only sounded haunting.
As Jamie began speaking about Liza Arietta blinked a few times, processing the words that came out of his mouth. So they're not a thing-thing, but they're a thing, but they're not really gonna be a thing until they meet back in Bass and become... a proper thing? And he hadn't known... until halloween? "Arceus Jamie, that's complicated!" Calando had become slightly wary of Ossia, especially now when she'd taken up a lot of Arietta's attention, and floated along besides her curiously.
"Well if you both have feelings for each other, it doesn't matter if you're not a technical thing or... whatever- maybe she just needs time to process things?" A shrug of her shoulders, "But nah, you're not dense at all! Uhm... I'v dated a bunch of dudes, y'know, and half of them couldn't take a hint if they tried."
Oh, so he doesn't have combinations? Well... it kinda made sense, actually. Especially if he was just starting out, there was always time for everything! A hand moved to scratch at Arietta's cheek and she let out a hum, "I gotcha! Well whatever you come up with, get Liza to record and show me, okay? I really wanna see what you're capable of- when you see her again I mean." another laugh as she continued walking, "And making them all shiny actually sounds like a great shtick or whatever, if your reasoning is sound, then there's no harm in it! If I was a judge i'd find it charming!" Maybe she missed the point a little, but that's a-okay!
She was going to say more, really, but a large caw and a beam of water was sent directly in their direction from the sea, and a loud, surprised squeak left Arietta's lips. The girl turned on her heel, eyes wide as she attempted to find the source of attack, before her eyes located a lone Cramorant, who had seemed frightened at the very sight of Ossia. Arietta let out a gasp and then looked to Jamie, "Oooh, gimme a sec. This won't take too long."
She moved to Calando, clapping her hands together, "You know the drill Cal, let's dance!" Calndo practically spun on the spot, an excited coo leaving his lips as he approached the Cramorant, who looked about ready to set loose another move, Arietta however, didn't give her a chance.
"A graceful quick attack, Cal!" Calando practically launched himself at the Cramorant, landing a hard blow in the pokemon's chest and causing her to flinch back slightly.
wAJwiFtcp_
The Cramorant was paralyzed upon impact, due to Calando's static! Arietta let out a giddy noise as the pokemon struggled to move, and took that as a chance to launch another quick attack, since it was one of Cal's only hitting move, she... probably had to work on that. "You're doing great Cal, now go fo-" The large bird managed to shake off the paralysis, and she wasn't happy! A loud caw left her lips as she shot an aggresive water gun in Calando's direction, sending him flying back a few steps.
"It's okay, Cal! A nuzzle should finish her off, nice and easy!" The girl's hands clasped together in excitement as Calando moved forward, launching himself once more and rubbing his body again the Cramorant's for a moment. The electric shock sent the Cramorant flying back into the water... and they didn't get up! An excited woop left Arietta's lips and she glanced at Jamie with a wide grin, before rushing over to Calando and swooping him up into her grasp, hugging him.
"You danced great, buddy!" she spun around for a second, barely able to see over her raichu's shoulder as she attempted to make eye-contact with Jamie, "Sorry, I got distracted- uh- what were we talking about?"
Post by James "Jamie" Wilson on Dec 23, 2019 2:59:45 GMT
"Oh, that's terrible! I'm glad you found her. I bet she is too," Jamie gave Ossia another once-over, not quite sure how one might be able to tell if a Runerigus was happy or not. Their faces were kind of...well. In pieces. Sort of. Still, if he were a Pokemon that had been left out in the cold, he'd be eternally grateful to the person who brought him inside and took care of him. No doubt Ossia felt the same way. Would he ever find a Pokemon he thought was scary now but turned out to be wonderful after having it for long enough? Maybe? He wasn't too scared of Ghost Pokemon, though, so...
He nodded, sighing softly. Complicated? Yeah, too complicated for him, especially. She made it sound so easy though. Just give Eliza time, and if they both had feelings for each other it would all work out. But...well...that... "I'm still not..." He started, then stopped, and shook his head. He wasn't sure about these guys Arietta was talking about but it didn't sound like something he should ask her about. And he didn't want to go down the route he'd been thinking of a second ago. It would only worry her or cause problems. "Yeah, you're right. I think she's just worried that she won't be able to focus on the move and stuff if she's also worrying about me. Not that it's stopped her from, y'know, texting me every couple of hours." Jamie chuckled again. "It's very cute."
Even if I'm not sure how to feel about it yet.
"Absolutely. I'll be in Bass a lot once she's over there, so we can hang out, too! I'll show you what I come up with in person if I can! And I promise not to waste you guy's time during rehearsal." His grin grew a little brighter. "Well, too much, anyway."
Arietta put the conversation on pause for a moment when a large bird-looking Pokemon popped out of the brush and started fighting her Pokemon. Jamie, wide-eyed and quite excited to see his first real Pokemon battle, stood back and held Astaire close to his chest. Astaire in turn was watching just as intently. Jamie took note of it. Hah, maybe he could find some excitement in the timid little bird after all! Arietta and her Raichu handled the Cramorant so easily that he was grinning like an idiot by the time Calando had knocked the other Pokemon into the stream. Before he could say anything though--
A shrill, childish wail came from where he'd called out Jacksoon and Gracie, and he turned to see...well, something that made his face fall and temper momentarily flare. The tiniest little Marill he'd ever seen was on the ground in front of his Sensu-style Oricorio, and she was knocking it around with her feet like a toy ball! Jackson had his face buried in his pom-poms. "Gracieuse! Stop using that Marill as a football! If you're going to fight it, do it fairly??" Gracie lifted her talons from off the Marill and, shrugging, took a step back and away from it. Jamie grumbled and set Astaire down. The poor little thing already didn't look great from being rolled around, but...well he could help it.
"Astaire," Jamie spoke evenly, still a little unsure how this would work, "Try to get it a little weaker, and I'll catch it, alright? Then we can get it healed up in the next town."
The Baille-style Oricorio nodded and moved in just as the Marill had stood back up. He brought his feathered wings down with a quick series of strikes, none of which did very much damage to the Marill, but it did knock it over again. It was so tiny it could hardly keep itself up against any sort of combat! But it kept getting back up no matter what happened to it! That...was incredibly cute, as much as it hurt to see the little guy go tumbling around. All the same it would probably do really well in a cuteness contest.
He pulled a regular Pokeball from his belt-clip, grinned wide, and tossed it at the Marill.
Arietta Ostinato WC: 724 Gracie was given to him by Senara, OOC.
Her hands moved to her pockets at Jamie spoke, Liza was worried? Arietta struggled to wrap her head around the notion for a few seconds, but right now she knew better then to throw herself into their buisness, especially when she knew if somebody tried to touchdown into hers she'd probably meltdown on the spot, so instead she nodded with a "Calling her cute? You sound smitten already, and the texting too!" There was a playful gleam in her eyes, future excitement for how their relationship could play out.
Arietta had a nasty habit of not just loving the idea of herself in love, but getting attatched to the relationships her friends were in, it was always fun to witness, and to see people so happy- of course, there was always the terrified voice in the back of her mind trying to help them, wanting to aid them in not getting hurt... it was a fine line to walk on.
As Jamie spoke of hanging out in Bass the girls head titled, an eyebrow raising slightly. "Oh if you come to rehearsals you better be on your best behavior, mister." If there was one thing she ever had to be serious on, it was dance, and arecus knows the girls struggled getting it down-pat and with concentration enough. "It's already hard enough trying to teach them all the latest choreography, wrangling a bunch of girls into perfect synchrony without getting them to mess up is hard enough without one of their..."
She paused, lovers or partners probably wasn't the most appropriate word to use here... "Significant others present- buuut, if you're gonna be encouraging and only speak between breaks..." There was an unspoken end to her sentence, that was lost as Jamie began his brawl. Arietta watched with a sparkle to her eyes, this was Jamie's first rumble, right? His first tango- dance with the devil?
At the end she couldn't help but clap as the ball clicked into place, an excited cheer leaving her lips. "Jamie! You did it, how do you feel, what are you gonna name it- are you gonna keep it?" The questions were rapid fire, Arietta's energy being pushed forward at full blast.
Post by James "Jamie" Wilson on Dec 30, 2019 1:46:58 GMT
Smitten, huh...well if Arietta said so, then it was probably true, right? Probably. She knew a lot more about these sort of things than he did according to her. So Jamie put on a brighter smile and nodded along. "It'll be great seeing her in Bass. And everyone else, too. I said I wasn't going to waste your time and I meant it!" He laughed and shook his head as she went on a short rant about how hard it was keeping the girls of Pixie Nightmare Girls in sync. He wouldn't know, yet, until he tried to do the same with his team, but until then he just found it funny how passionate and irritated she sounded.
"I can cheer like the best of 'em. I'll be good. Promise."
As the fight drew to its end the pokeball clicked, and the Marril inside was officially his. Jamie released a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding and walked up to pick it up from the grass, looking it over before giving Gracie a cool stare. "That was not nice, Gracie. Come on, you're going back in the pokeball." He pocketed the Marril's and took out the one with a small "G" sticker on the lid, pointed it at the Sensu-style Oricorio, and in a flash of red light she was returned to her ball. He clipped it back onto his belt. "I'm not sure yet. I really just want to heal it up, but it's also pretty small and a fairy type. It'd be a good spot to fill on a contest roster! I'll ask it after it's healed up if it wants to stay."
Astaire looked a little pleased with himself over his victory, even if it was won only due to Gracie's interfering. He still felt a little more confident and a little stronger but only just.
Jamie returned both him and Jackson as well. "Hmm, maybe Bubbles? Since it's so small and round and, you know, a Water type? Is that not original enough, though...?"
Wellll... if he was gonna be on his best behaviour and act like a cheering fan when prompted, Arietta really had no complaints- besides... If she was dating right now, she would have absolutely adored if the person she cared for was watching their rehearsals cheering them on. Maybe she was being a bit too harsh- but with how they were slowly becoming less underground getting the girls in line with dancing was important! "Then cheer her on the best ya can, roger?" An eyebrow raise, before she was distracted by Calando surfing a circle around her, demanding attention.
Ara gently ran a hand over his fur, giggling at the little prickle of electricity she felt yet still keeping her attention on Jamie, fairly amused. "Marill would be great for a contest team- though maybe i'm bias to fairy types or pokemon who look like mouses- or just...both..." She trailed off for a second before shaking her head, "Anyways! Bubbles is an adorable name! Not all mons need themes! The simpler the cuter, I always say!" Lets' just forget that all her pokemon are named after musical terms or dance terms.
She moved to begin walking again, Calando hovering by her side still and squeaking every few seconds. "But yeah, i'm still reaaaallly happy for you, kiddo!" She glanced over her shoulder again, "If you ever, ever need relationship advice feel free to talk to me! The ins and outs, ups and downs- I know Liz, annnnd i've been through...my...uh..." She averted her gaze, don't you dare think about the latest happenings! "Fair share of... stuff."

Jamie chuckled at Arietta. She had a type when it came to Pokemon, huh? That wasn't too surprising. Everybody had a sort of Pokemon they liked best; for him it was those with passion and pizzazz. She liked cuties. Heheh. Well, that Raichu certainly fit the bill, and it gave him ideas for any future catches he got that she might find interesting. "Hah, I've been naming my birds after famous dancers--'cept for Gracie, since I got her in a trade. But, yeah, I think I'll go with Bubbles! Man, they must have been a tiny thing as an Azurill." Arietta's continued praise only made his cheeks warm and smile widen and brighten. Yes! He was happy she was happy for him! He wasn't so sure about the relationship advice because he didn't want to bother her, but...
"Only if you promise to tell me if I'm annoying you," he raised a finger, "I don't want to take up too much of your time with anything! We're big kiddos, you..." He paused, sighed, and planted his forehead in his palm. Aurgh, he was using it now, too. "...bleh, that's stuck now. We're big kids! I'm a big--can I start that sentence over again?"
The "danger" passed, Jamie started walking again down the route, humming softly. There was definitely something bothering Arietta. She kept trailing off whenever they got to talking about relationships, and Eliza had been so insistent on him seeing her as soon as possible. Something had to be up. If she wanted to share he'd listen, but he wasn't going to ask aloud. Just give her a couple supportive smiles when she started sounding like she was going somewhere dark. Nothing too obvious but...enough, he hoped.
"Oh, crap, I didn't ask! How's the dance studio? Think there's room for me to join up?"
It would be nice to have a place to practice in Bass, so close to Eliza's apartment and also owned by a friend! Or worked at by a friend. He could never really reme-- AHH! What is THAT!!
Jamie suddenly went stock still, eyes going comically wide and staring over Arietta's head. He waved at Arietta to look over in the same direction. Seated on the edge of a small body of water was the absolute cutest little Pokemon he'd seen. Was--is that--
"Is that a Brionne?!" He whisper-shouted, having to duck a little to be on Arietta's level. "Those things are super rare!! And they evolve into a Fairy type!! You should catch it!!"
Naming his birds after famous dancers?! "Oh! I love that!" hands clapped together, "Blame my parents, but all mine are named after musical or dance terms- Calando, Alto, Demi..." She trailed off then, didn't she jsut think that she wasn't gonna mention it?! Well- aye- it never hurt anybody. Besides, if she hadn't ever have gone with a naming theme, she could only imagine naming them based on their colour or their type, like sparky, or spark, or blue- not that there's anything wrong with that! She just isn't the most creative when separated from dance and music.
Jamie continued speaking, and Arietta couldn't help but giggle as he called them 'big kiddies', nose scrunching. "Oh yeah- and you're the biggest of kiddies, right Jamie?" a playful eyeroll, and she moved to scratch gently at Calando's fur, smiling at the surfing pokemons little coo. "But yeah! If you're being annoying at all?" A head tilt, "I promise i'll tell you!"
Walking more, she tried her best to keep to a reasonable pace- usually she just jammed to music or sung whenever going down routes by herself, mainly to fill the silence and put herself at ease, but she couldn't exactly do that with Jamie here. Though the silence wasn't exactly awkward, Arietta just didn't know what to do-
At Jamie's question the girl paused, eyes wideneing slightly... dance... dance studio... how was the dance studio? Uhm- uh... "I'm actually teaching the little kids classes now!" Her tone of cheerfulness was more forced now, but she continued her pace once more, "It's actually really rewarding- I love seeing how... happy they are when they get something right, and all their little dances come together!" A nod, "And... the adult classes..." Gabe'd just made his way out of the system, because he wasn't going to show up again- because that'd hurt him rather than help him. She'd even ensured that he did them for free, but...
"You're interested? We- actually have a free spot that just opened up, and there's a bunch of- er- 'big kiddies' your age in the class- i'm in it too- I don't teach this one though i'm in it-" She'd begun rambling, she'd spent so much time at the studio now, wanting to fill empty time- she hated being at home, being in a place where she could overthinking- dancing... she didn't have to think, it was fun, it was freeing- it was where her heart belonged. "There's an open spot!" She repeated it again ,"And- uh- if you want I can put you in it for free- if you want I mean- if not I could put you in a teen class? I do assistant work in those- I also run admin days I don't have PNG- so- uh..." Shut up, Arietta.
Thankfully, she didn't need to ramble anymore, as Jamie pointed out something just past her, and she turned around, only to let out a gasp- oh my arceus?! Wait- wait that was so cute. "It's adorable??" Yep, she wanted it?! She began moving towards it now, cautious and careful, shuffling through her pockets for a berry or something. "...and so pretty..."
She walked up to it then, attempting to keep a smile on her face as she knelt down to it's level and shifted out a poketreat, which is seemed to look at curiously. "Heya- uh- sweetie- how are you?" It nudged the berry a little before going to eat it- okay- this was going good! A good distraction for her, too! "Is that good?" She waited a few beats before fetching another, talking as the mon ate. "You can get a bunch of these if you join my team, actually- annnd... you can show others how pretty you are! I do contests, y'know?"
She shifted, grabbing out a great ball and offering it to the mon. "Whaddya say?"

Alas, as neither an empath nor a telepath, Jamie didn't realize the trouble his question had caused in Arietta's thoughts and emotions. Her cheerfulness still radiated from her, at least in his eyes, and he chuckled at how excited she was about teaching little kids how to dance. "That's adorable. Though I think I'm a bit old for that, aren't I?" He stuck his tongue out in the most adult of mannerisms before going back to listening. Oh, perfect, a free spot just opened up in the class she was in. "If it's a class with you I think I'd be more comfortable. I'm, uhhh," he scratched the back of his neck, smile turning sheepish, "I'm still nowhere near as good at dancing as you and Eliza and the girls. I'm still a good actor and I don't have, like, two left feet but...if I'm going with the dance theme I may as well actually know how to do actual freaking dances, right?"
"Just try to keep laughing at me to a once-per-class maximum?" Jamie teased lightly. He would be fine if she made fun of his dancing. He was fine! But then there was the PNG girls. And wasn't there another person she hung with who was a dancer...? Eh, it had been years since he'd seen her dancing outside of rehearsal. He didn't remember.
Luckily--unbeknownst to Jamie--the little Brionne was the perfect distraction for Arietta's hidden woes. He kept at a distance while she did her thing, chatting up the Pokemon and giving it a little berry bribery. From where he stood he also noticed a couple loose items laying around and picked them up to inspect. Huh, anti-paralyzing potions. Had somebody dropped these? He tucked them into his bag. With the amount of people who went up and down the routes, trying to return lost items would be nearly impossible. He may as well keep them, if nobody had come to collect them by now. When he turned back to Arietta and the Brionne it appeared that her efforts had been successful! Jamie beamed and came over from the path to Arietta's side. "Wow, you caught her without even needing to fight! Leave it to you to be able to sweet-talk a Pokemon so well," he chuckled, "Though I doubt the berries hurt your chances any. What'll you name her?"
Ooooh, more comfortable around somebody he knows? Ara gets that! She nods a little, shfiting ever so slightly to bounce on her feet as she picks up her pace once again."If that's what you want! Don't worry- dancing is super easy once you get like, your rhythm down pat." As he mentioned keeping laughing at him down to a minimum Arietta grins a little bigger, "Don't worry, dancing is a more professional environment. I'm not gonna laugh at anybody willing to learn, big kiddie."
Maybe she'd be able to focus better in dance with a more familiar face there who's actually in one of her social circles? Beats awkwardly glancing to the window expecting somebody who's not going to show up to peek once again. Gave her somebody to help too! As long as Jamie was wiling, then she wouldn't ming putting him down for it all. "Ah- you'll have to text your details though so I can put it in the system- just address and stuff! Liza's given you my number, yeah?"
As the pokemon accepted her ball Arietta couldn't help giggling slighty in satisfaction, moving to pocket it. The mon would make a great member of her team, and due to her typing, and Arietta was sure that with some training she'd be an amazing dancer! As Jamie marvelled at her being able to sweet-talk the Brionne she shrugged a little, "Sometimes I just prefer it to battling, since i'm not really the best at figuring out moves... but I wouldn't call it sweet-talking, y'know?" And... sweet-talking lowkey implied flirting, and she'd never flirt with a pokemon! Just cuties at a bar, or at the club! Or... anywhere. Anyy cutie, please.
As he questioned the naming Arietta brought a finger to her lip, eyes flicking to the sky for a moment in thought... music or dance related? Hmm.. "Corrida?" She tilted her head slightly, "It's a dance move in a tango, it's kinda like... speedwalking- it's synchronized double steps within the trope on stage, I think it flows nicely and since I want to perform with the Brionne..." She trailed off flashing Jamie with a grin, "Sound good?"

Jamie opened his mouth to speak, paused, and pulled out his phone very quickly to be sure he did have Arietta's number and wasn't just giving the answer that sounded right. "Yeeeeeeees, yes I think I do, you're still--" he rattled off the number listed as, of all the things Eliza had snuck onto his phone before he left, "Arararararara" in his contact list, "Right? Then yeah, I do have that. Since I don't really have, like, my own place in the city would it just be my home address? And I should probably actually, like, get to Bass and know the address of the studio and stuff. That might be relevant, yeah?"
He was eager to get to Bass, though. He wanted to see the whole gang again, and to show off his Pokemon and his own skills as a coordinator. He wouldn't be the "baby" anymore! And he wanted to see Eliza again, of-freaking-course. That was his priority...
...right? That...that was totally his number one reason to rush to Bass. Yeah.
"No? What would you call it then? Because that was pretty sweet," Jamie chuckled, waving his hand in front of his chest, "I get it, I get it. I haven't tried that, though, with a Pokemon yet. What do you think, am I charming enough to win one over by talking?"
Corrida was not a word he was familiar with, being still pretty new to the legitimate side of dancing. It sounded pretty cool though, and it fit with Arietta's theme naming. "Sounds awesome! Man, and when she evolves, she's going to be gorgeous isn't she. Oof, if I ever wind up against you in a contest, I'm doomed, aren't I." Jamie made a soft sound of mock pain, resting his wrist against his forehead in a most dramatic fashion. "Alas, we are doomed to be rivals, aren't we? And even if I did manage to scrape past you, I'd be so wrought with guilt that it would hardly feel like a victory at all! The unfairness of it all, Arietta! The horrible agony!" Alright, maybe he was being a little too dramatic, but he couldn't help it. He was an actor. His grin flashed again from behind his arm. "Or something like that. Seriously, though, I won't go easy on you if we wind up on opposite sides of the stage, just because you're my friend!"
