It had felt like forever since she'd been with the other girls again, everybody had been so busy and Arietta had found herself relying on things she really, really shouldn't for comfort. She was on the verge of losing her mind, and the girls were one of the only ways she found herself able to be grounded- which is probably why she was so excited for their mini-concert in Plum! T
he other girls were either already there or would take the ferry over tomorrow, which left Arietta and Elise, which was perfectly fine by Ara! Donning a fluffy pink fur coat and matching high-fashion trackies Arietta knew she looked like a star, and was more than excited
Yellow bespeckled suitcase full of gear, magazines and other various things Ara was all but ready to go, all that was left was Elise who'd buggered off somewhere right before boarding. The girl stood awkwardly on the wooden dock as people pushed past her to get onto the ferry to Plum, families going for holidays, people going to visit their family or just travellers looking for an adventure- they were all there.
But then... where was Ellie? Arietta pushed her hand through her hair now, tucking a few loose strands back before letting out a sigh and instead opting to push a clip through her hair instead- it was probably going to be windy, if El wanted to go up on the upper deck then she'd definitely have to be prepared!
She just really hoped the girl showed up soon, Ari could have sworn she was here a minute ago! She had all but debating calling, she knew for a fact she wouldn't be able to ferry alone, the very thought caused her throat, which was appropriately dressed with full-cover foundation, to pulse slightly in phantom pain.
“Tony, I’ll call you when I get to Plum, but I really gotta go. This is the last of the morning ferries…” Elise was talk-walking at the end of the dock. Every couple of seconds, she would walk to one end, turn, and walk to the other since there wasn’t enough distance to make a wider loop. Once, she stopped for a fully five seconds to drum her hand along the suitcase she had with her before removing it and walking to the other side again. “Are you sure? Yeah, tomorrow night. Can you work on that? Ok! Sounds great! Thanks! Love you! Bye!”
Finally pulling the phone away from her ear, she turned back to the pink flowery rolly suitcases she had left a few paces from herself. Grabbing it, she quickly turned and skipped back down the path— mindful of the ice and snow that accumulated out on the docks. Seeing Ara from behind, Ellie quickly ran up and hugged her around the shoulders! “Hey! Sorry! I’m back!” she spoke quickly before easing off Ara’s shoulders and walking around her grinning warmly. “Tony’s bringing my corset tomorrow.” Tony being short for Antony who was very much her known boyfriend. “H-hey are you ok?”
And just on cue, Ellie came back with a perfectly timed jumpscare. A squeak of surprise left Arietta's lips, eyes flying wide out of pure momentary panic before she was quickly assured that this was infact one of her closet friends. Ara let out a startled giggle then, dropping her hands from anxiously weaving themselves through her hair as Ellie rounded to her front. "Aha, Welcome back!" She shifted now to smile at her friend, grateful for her appearance.
Oooh, so she'd been calling Tony? A teasing grin now settled on her face as she leaned in to gently prod at Elise's cheek."Why am I not surprised it was a call with Tony- is he taking the ferry tomorrow then?" reeling herself back she moved to grab at Elise's hand, realizing everybody else had boarded and gently tugging her forward so they could get their tickets scanned.
At Elise's question Arietta let out another laugh, followed by an eyeroll, "As fine as I can be, El. I'm just glad you're here, like- we have soooo much to catch up on!" She shifted to let go of her hand and fish for her ticket, presenting it before boarding the ferry, gulping slightly as the familiar rocking sensation engulfed her. Forcing out a breath and itching at her palm, attempting to get herself back to her senses and to focus on something else. After a few seconds she turned on her heel to face Ellie, hearing the all clear from the ticket guy. "You got everything else packed then? The costume, the makeup?"
Rosie color warmed Elise’s cheeks as Arietta spoke. “A-Ariiii!” she giggled raising both hands to her cheeks and shrugging her shoulders a couple of times. At the question, though, she immediately cooled and nodded. “He won’t be able to get off work till this evening, so he’ll either have his brother Surf him over later today or take the ferry tomorrow morning,” Elise explained— as she found her hand taken and her body on the move. Her other hand was quick to grab her suitcase and roll onwards up the ramp and onto the ferry.
The assurance earned a “Oh good!” as Elise fished out her phone and had the man scan that instead of a paper ticket. Stepping onboard, Elise looked around momentarily before back to Ara again. “Yep! I made sure this time,” she giggled rolling forward to look for places to sit or stand or anything. The ferry wasn’t too long a ride, but getting comfortable was important! “Annnnnnd if I did, I can always text Tony….” she giggled a little to herself at that.
“Hmmmm looks like the sun is that way… wanna go for it since it’s so cool out?” she asked, pointing to an upper level where quite a few people were already pulling chairs and other things out to catch said sun. “Though I guess we could stay on the main deck too….”
Her response earned a hum from Ari, arceus how long had Tony and Ellie been together again? Their relationship was so cute, and then there was the new relationship between Jamie and Eliza... how come they all got the non-complex stuff! But whatever, the girl tucked a strand of hair further behind her ear and laughed, this time she'd got everything- all's good then. "Thank arceus, we can't have another mishap like the last concert." a hand went to her cheek, "The PR team almost ate us alive, remember?"
Her gaze floated around the ferry as they began going inside, taking in the people getting comfortable on the lower dock, pushing themselves into chairs and getting themselves food. Thankfully she'd smashed out her breakfast before coming over, so everything should be fine. As El spoke again Arietta raised her eyes to follow the girls finger and blinked a few times... upper deck... she bit onto her upper lip and attempted to smile.
"Wherever's comfiest- I brought around a bunch of fashion mags we can flick through if you want?" A head tilted as she quickly pulled herself from her thoughts and lightened up slightly "Buuuut like after we spill the latest gossip, of course- I still haven't heard how your last date went with Tony!"
A very audible sigh escaped from Elise at Ari’s words. “They’re so mean,” she shook her head before smiling a little. “But nope! I’ve got everything this time! I’m sure!” She raised one fist in the air and gave a small punch to the sky. “We’ll do amazingly!”
For a moment, Ellie caught the look on Ari’s features as she looked up at the upper deck, and for a moment, she caught something in the air. But then of course— “Oh my gosh! I can’t wait to tell you about it! We went down to the Birch City gardens for their ice and light show, and it was soooooo magical!” she spoke as she walked, leading them down the side of the deck and up towards the front rather than upwards. Luckily, there was a single set of chairs pushed up there right along the bow just waiting to be sat in.
"Tell me about it- recently got two of them fired and everything..." The PR team would probably fire Arietta if they could, she was sure of it. At Ellie's excitement for their coming show however Arietta raised a fist of her own in tandem. "Hell yeah we will!" They were gonna do great! Everything had been gone over like at least twenty times, probably way more, and the routine had been stuck in Arietta's head for the last few days- focusing all your effort on dance too forget everything else does that to you!
A sigh she hadn't realized she was holding was softly released as Elise took her to the front of the deck, with a duo of chairs there for keen watching and prime position. Her smile came a bit more naturally now as she listened to Ellie talk, moving to make herself comfortable in a chair and tucking her suitcase under it. "Wait, oh my arceus there was an ice and light show?!"
Her hands brought themselves together in her lap and her eyes sparkled, arceus if a dude brought her there she would fall in love on the spot. She could only imagine how much Ellie adored it, especially with Tony by her side- he was a good guy. Ara'd bumped into him a fair few times, being one of Ellie's closet friends it was only natural, and she could only approve of somebody who made the blonde light up like she did. "You need to tell me more, El!"
“Fired?!” Elise squeaked. Did she want to know? No she didn’t want to know— Yes she did want to know but no she didn’t want to know! She’d push that as far out of the conversation as possible, and if it happened to come up again well then she’d deal with it!
For now, though, there were two chairs at the front with their names on them! (Not really but that would be cool if they did!) Sitting down and stretching out before easing back, Elise smiled sideways. “Yeah! I didn’t even know until Tony and I were there! He was just being all secretive and shy and I was so sure he was going to propose, and then instead we were there and it was so cool!” she squeaked out all in one breath before going on.
At the encouragement to say more, she immediately went on. “They had a lot of different ice Pokemon there making fast sculptures and displays! They even asked a few people from the crowd to come up and stand and have the Pokemon design them in ice!” She giggled at that. “I didn’t get chosen but an old lady did, and they made a bit statue for her!” She giggled and rambled on a bit more describing how much she like a shiny Glaceon there and a few others. “I’d love to do something like that at a contest!”
Arietta let out a squeal as Elise went on to explain, her feet bouncing excitedly on the ground. "You thought he was going to propose???" Her hands clasped at her knees as she practically radiated giddiness, "Do you think you're ready for that?! Arceus, have you had the talk with him? You'd look so good in white- that''s if you want a traditional wedding-" She cut herself off quickly with a shake of her head, straightening herself out.
"That actually sounds amazing, Ellie! Ice sculptures? Volunteers?! Your boy knows you so well, if he isn't gonna put a ring on it then you should?!" Her hands went to her cheeks as she giggled, "It's actually such a cute date idea too... would have been perfect for a proposal..." She trailed off for a moment before her hands returned to her lap, "But that just means he might have something better planned, right??"
It would be perfect for a contest, actually! "Oooh, it'd definitely sway a beauty contest i'd bet! Ice sculptures wouldn't be common at all~"
“Oh my gosh I am!” Elise squeaked back. “We’ve been talking about the future a lot lately, and and and and…..” She dissolved into giggles rather than go on. Her head bobbled along with the question. She’d love a traditional wedding! “Maybe outdoors though! A summer or fall one!” she beamed.
The U-turn in conversation gave her a chance to babble on more, and Elise was just pleased as punch with it. “That’s why I thought he was going to propose! But! Eheheheheh, if he does have something better I don’t want to steal his thunder, ya know? Daddy says a man’s gotta make it all work out right so…” She nodded her head sagely at that and puffed out her chest some. “I’ll definitely act as surprised as I can!” Right after that, though, her chest collapsed and she giggled again smiling happily.
Elise’s eyes sparkled a little at the follow up thoughts. “It would look so nice but be so hard to orchestrate perfectly…. What a challenge…” she giggled at that.
Elise's giggles were infectious, and Arietta found herself giggling and nodding along with her words- arceus she was so, unbelievably happy?? And in love? It had to be Ara's duty to ensure she stays this way, obviously. "Summer or fall- oh the scenery would be gorgeous! If you wanna catch the upcoming summer, then he better get to proposing!" So it was gonna be up to Tony, then? Arietta'd be sure to text him, then. She couldn't let Ellie be disappointing- maybe just directing him to some cute date spots that she mysteriously found through her various boyfriends.... boyfriends... ugh.
"Ooooh... Show me your surprised face! I gotta check to make sure he'll buy it!" She propped her head up with a fist now, grinning at Ellie. "No joke though, if you get married you can count on me and the girls to be with you every step of the planning way! He just better get to it soon, it's already killing me that you don't have a rin-"
She cut herself of, blinking once, twice, then a gasp left her lips and she leant insistently forward "What sort of ring do you want, Ellie?!" Would she be a classic diamond girl, a topaz? Ara'd want whatever stone her lover got her, maybe in their favourite colour, but she knew everybody was different!
Oh, yeah she had a point, it would require a lot of practice too. "Well there's always fun in a challenge, and there's minimum risk with contests, you try some you win some, and it's all just a bunch of fun!" She brought her other hand up now, supporting the other side of her face, "I'm still trying to get the choreography for my next context down pat, some of the newer mons are a little bit clumsier- but just like your ice sculpture idea, it'll get there in the end!"
A soft giggle escaped from Elise, and she nodded along with Ari’s words. “Exactly!” If Tony proposed soon, they could have a mid-summer wedding! But if he proposed in the spring, she could do with a fall one! Oh it just warmed her heart! At the prompting, she immediately threw both hands at her cheeks and made the biggest most animated expression she could! “How’s this!” she asked. “Too much?”
Too much! Who cared! Elie beamed at Ari’s words right after! “Of course! You’ll all be my brides’ maids!” she assured. As Arietta paused, though, Elise did as well. Oh! Uh! A soft blush came to her features. “I…. I was thinking a pink diamond?” she squeaked. “Tony said it matches my eyes and eheheheheheh….” Color came to her features and she swayed a little at her own words.
At the thought of minimum risk contests, though, Ellie looked thoughtful. That was true! They could almost use them to practice! “Maybe I can play an ice piano…” she thought aloud and then giggled. “That would be so cold on my hands though eheheeh..” Her hands were… way way way to sensitive for that. Oh but! “So you chose what choreography you’re going to do at the next contest?!” she cut in.
Arietta laughed at Elise's mock-surprise face, a big grin resting on her features. "It's perfect! The genuine surprise is written all over your face, definitely go with that one!" she leaned back against the chair now, crossing her legs- they'd all be the brides maids? The thought alone made Arietta giddy, being there by one of her closet friends on her big day, in... hopefully... a pretty dress, it would be amazing, and could happen as soon as next summer!
Oh, a pink diamond?! Those jewels were utterly gorgeous, Arietta's gaze flicked to Ellie's eyes before glancing to her ring finger and letting out another laugh, "Ooooh- Of course, it'd suit you so well!" it was such a pretty colour too.
"Ice piano sounds amazing, though difficult, since you'd have to sculpt all the internal moving parts... you could just freeze a regular piano too, that could work!" a hand went to her cheek and Arietta furrowed her brow for a moment, right until she was asked about choreography- you could practically see the brunette's face brighten.
"Yeah! I've planned it all out, it's gonna be a simple piece, since a lot of my pokemon have little limbs, probably more of a contemporary piece- I haven't decided the song yet though... but i'll get there! I have a playlist already narrowed down and everything!"
Warm bright pink touched Elise’s features as Ari spoke. “I think so too!” she squeaked. She really hoped Tony went with pink diamond, but if she was being absolutely honest, anything at all would be great. She was just ready to start their lives together.
She’d have to consider how this ice piano thing a little longer, though. It was such a good start, and she was sure there was some way to make it work well! Maybe ice crystals on a white piano even? Would that work aesthetically? Ah, she’d let it rest for a moment and think about it more later. For now, she had focused on Ari’s ideas for her next big showstopper.
A small giggle escaped from Elise as Ari spoke. Simple for the little folks, that was so cute! And she hadn’t decided on the song yet? Ooooh! “If you need help picking out music! I can definitely help,” she beamed warmly. “Oh! Oh! I haven’t seen Aumia in forever!” she realized after the fact. “Where is she?” Already, Elise was shifting to grab something from her pocket. “Shimmer’s been doing well,” she went on enlarging the Pokeball and releasing the Ribombee.
The offer to help had Ara smiling fairly big, she just had a few songs left in her playlist to go through before deciding so hopefully she'd be okay- that and she still had a few songs to go through to decide on for her her mini concert/bar performance. "Thanks! If I still struggle on deciding by this time tommorow i'll send you what i've got, aha!" she moved a little, as if to grab her phone and show a few of the songs she had gathered, but paused as her darling Dedenne was mentioned, you could practically see the excitement flash across Arietta's features.
As Elise moved to grab her ball and let out Shimmer Arietta moved to grab Aumia's own, letting the small Dedenne out. Aumia almost immediately pounced into Ara's lap, an excited coo leaving her before she noticed Elise, waving a tiny paw in greeting with a loud cry. "It's nice to see Shimmer again! Has Shim had any exciting battles lately?" She moved to gently pat the top of Aumia's head, whos eyes closed in response, "Mi-Mi's been a big help in integrating other mons onto my team- especially those who you wouldn't think are capable of dancing!"
“Sounds great!” Elise giggled entirely too much at her own pun, but she just couldn’t help it. Soft, silly humor like that was her choice weapon in any scenario.
As Shimmer was released, the Ribombee immediately flew up and made a small heart-shaped loop in front of Elise. The latter giggled and pat the prior before both turned their attention to their friends. “EEEEEE AUMIA!” Elise giggled as she reached over to pat the Dedenne, scratching her ears and then her cheeks very lightly. Shimmer, meanwhile, looked to Ari and immediately flew in front of her and made the heart shaped loop as well before putting both hands to her lips and throwing them outwards in a kiss to the crowd fashion.
Elise looked up and giggled. “Hmmmm well, we did catch a new friend recently!” she beamed. “She’s really cute! I think you’ll really like her actually…” She fished for a Pokeball and released a Morpeko into her lap. “Her name is Sparkle!” The Morpeko looked around and then zeroed into the strange other-electric mouse Pokemon. Scurring over, she raised a paw to try and hi-five Mimi.
Aumia let out an excited squeak as Elise moved to pat her, watching the girl with sparkling eyes as her little tail flicked from one way to another, excited to get attention from somebody other than her own owner. Meanwhile Arietta giddly waved at shimmer, the bug pokemon was a sight for sore eyes, and super cute! If she ever went into contests, Arietta was sure the crowd would simply adore the pokemon. “You’re super cute, Shimmer~”
At Elise’s next words Arietta quirked an eyebrow, a new friend? Arietta gasped as the Morpeko was released, an excited sparkle in her eyes- a circle-cheeked friends! Aumia upon noticing the Morpeko let out her own squeak, curious and momentarily stunned by the other mouse pokemon before letting out an excited coo and jumping on the spot, spinning into her own high-five! “A Morpeko?!” You can basically hear the excitement in Arietta’s tone, it’s no surprise she adores any and all pokemon with cute circle cheeks who vaguely resemble Pikachu. The girl brought her hands together in a soft, excited clap. “She’s utterly adorable!” Arietta outstretched her own hand to the pokemon, practically bouncing on the spot, “Nice to meet you, Sparkle!”
“Yeah! A Morpeko!” Elise giggled back at Arietta’s words. “Isn’t she cute?”
Sparkle squeaked happy to receive a hi-five in return. At the clap, though, her eyes raised up to the other human, and she squeaked immediately back. Leaning forward and rubbing her entire face against Arietta’s hand, the Morpeko squeaked softly, happily. Elise giggled and shifted to one side, reaching in her bag and pulling out a berry. The Morpeko turned to it and stared watching it move as Elise held it over to Ari to take and give instead.
“Her Hangry mode is kind of crazy, but so long as she’s fed she’s happy….” Elise went on. “Have you heard of Hunger Switch? It turns certain Electric Moves to Dark ones… though I don’t know if she has them right now…” Elise laughed softly again. “Still sort of just getting to know her, ya know?”
Arietta very audibly awwwed at the Morpeko's soft movements- she was rubbing her face into Ara's palm!!! Arietta moved with her other hand to gently scratch at the Morpeko's fur for a few moments- ahhh Arceus why were pokemon so cute??? Arietta definitely had a weakness for electric mouse pokemon and it shows. As she was handed the berry Arietta gently lowered it towards the Morpeko to feed her, grinning softly. "I've never heard of that ability!" Hunger switch... she'd have to look into it- probably. "But it sounds so cool?? And- and she's so cuttte- Elise i'm sure you two will get along great!"
She moved to scratch at the mon again, however as Aumia squeaked, puffing out her cheeks Arietta let out a giggle and moved to give her own mon some love, scratching behind Aumia's ear before she run up Arietta's arm and settled into her shoulder. This was such a cheery atmosphere, so drastically different than her last few weeks that it was almost a shock to her system. As if out of nowhere she mumbled softly. "...i'm really glad to be able to do idol things again, after the PR nightmares and stuff- just enjoying time with my friends- with you?" A grin, "And showing off our mons? It's suuuper refreshing."
Sparkle nibbled the berry from Ari’s palm, munching down happily. The little tuffs of fur at the end of her ears twitched a little in tow. A small giggle escaped from Elise. She knew what that meant: Sparkle was very happy. Elise beamed warmly at Ari and seemed to perk up a little more when she mentioned not having heard of Hunger Switch before. “I think Morpeko might be one of the only Pokemon to have it!” she explained.
Shimmer rolled her eyes. Shield Dust was a pretty good ability for her species and all! As Aumia reacted as well, Shimmer odded triumphantly. Yeah! They were both great Pokemon too! Elise giggled and pet Aumia a little before making a gesture for Shimmer to come sit down as well. The Ribombee descended on the girl’s shoulder and was comfortable there. Elise beamed and pet her.
As Ari spoke, though, Elise’s eyes pulled back to her. She frowned a little softly and reched over to clasp Arietta’s hand. “I’m sorry I’ve been so busy…I know everyone else has their own excuses too but… we gotta work hard together now!” she nodded her head sagely and grinned. “And if you need an ear, I’m here!” Here now.
