So this is Birch. It was a nice city, a little bigger than Wren was accustomed to in Kalos but that wasn't exactly a surprise. Good thing they'd managed to catch the last bus to Birch. It would be a shame to miss their appointment at the lab, and so soon after arriving in Arciel~. It was admittedly odd not having any of their old pokemon with them but mmmm, they supposed it was to make sure that new trainers could handle pokemon. Besides, transporting a pokemon still in its ball had to be easier than riding out on a ferry. Still such a bother.
Approaching the lab, Wren surveyed their surroundings, smirking a bit at how much the lab reminded them of home. How quaint~. They weren't exactly how to feel about that, but they supposed they shouldn't judge a book by its cover. A bell rang as Wren stepped into the lab, looking for whoever they were supposed to meet. Dressed in a black t-shirt with purple sleeves, a black jacket, black jeans, and wearing their favorite earring chain and stud combo, Wren hadn't exactly dressed for the weather. Kalos was a little warmer this time of year than Arciel apparently. They just had to remember to pick up some warmer clothes while in town. Not a big deal~.
"Hello? Anyone here?" Wren called out, violet eyes surveying the space in the lab, "I have an appointment with the professor?" Well, at least it was much warmer inside the lab than outside in the frigid weather. No matter, they could wait as long as need be. It wasn't like they had anywhere to be in a hurry.
Holly checked the time a couple of times as she leaned against the front desk waiting. There were several appointments back to back coming up, so she hoped they would all be on time. Sure enough, this one, at least, was. They looked like they were headed to an emo convention or something, though. Whatever.
“Welcome,” Holly started. “Wrenova Raven, I presume?” She waited but a moment before nodding. “I received one of your Pokemon from the travel and trade commission as per request and have your starter for Arciel here.” She stated holding up two Pokeballs. Without another word, she tossed them forward releasing their contents.
Oh good. It seemed the professor was waiting for them after all. That meant less time waiting around which was good. A nod would be given at the question along with a small grin, "That would be me~," Wren chimed, smiling more when they heard that their pokemon had arrived at the lab after all. "Great~! I'm glad to hear that~." Losing their partner pokemon would have been a horrible start to their adventures in Arciel, wouldn't it now.
Seeing the two pokemon released, Wren smiled and laughed as the Ditto immediately jumped up to their arms. They almost missed catching them but nuzzled the Ditto affectionately regardless. "Nice to see you too, Mockingjay~" Wren mused, watching as the Ditto let out a happy coo and transformed into the skull hair clip they were normally wearing. Wren just smirked and slip the hair clip into place. That feels better~.
That left the little Zorua that was staring up at them. How cute. Not to mention he matched their aesthetic quite nicely~. "Nice to meet you, little one~. How's Nightingale for a name, hmm?" Wren asked, humming as the Zorua uttered a soft yip in agreement. Kind of an odd name, but it suited him well enough. After petting the Zorua a little, Wren looked back up at the professor with a smile, "Thanks for taking such good care of them~," they mused, opting to pick up the Zorua for the time being, "Is there anything I need to know?" If not, they would take their leave and go shopping for some warmer clothes. Maybe cause some mischief with their trusty partners while they were at it.
A small smile came and went from Holly’s features as Wren was reunited with their Pokemon. The Zorua also seemed well received. She’d hand over the Pokeballs right after. “Not unless you have any questions for me,” she answered. “Otherwise, you’re free to start out on your journey.”
At the professor's words, Wren simply shook their head. "Thanks but I think I'm good~." The less time they spent in the lab, the better. Or at least so they thought. Aside from that, they needed to hurry up and find a warmer coat. With the way the weather felt, it was bound to get colder before it got warmer. "I'll be going now, thanks for everything~," Wren mused, waving goodbye after pocketing the pokeballs thereafter. "Now, let's go find a store, hmm~?" With that, Wren left the lab to start their journey.
