Tiara, even with her twenty-one years of living notched in her belt, had no idea about anything to do with love, or dating- hell she barely had any friends, she just... didn't have much time for being social these days. But one of the blokes living in her apartment complex, a friendly fella who was more than acquainted with a few sleezy bars across town had practically barked at her to go and meet more people, claiming it was pretty sad to see such a dame coming back to the apartment and feeding shotty lowlifes cupcakes and sweets- sooo... here she was!
She'd at least... attempted to look nice. Tiara wasn't very familiar with makeup, so whatever she was wearing was fairly minimal at best. Her hair was pushed up into a high-ponytail and curled in gentle waves, while she wore her nicest pair of jeans... though there was a lot of girls around her dressed in stunning dresses, so she was fairly certain she hadn't dressed nice enough. She... probably should have worn a better top too, even if it was some cute 'cake boss' merch it wasn't exactly the type of think to wear to a date thing...
Arceus, she was wayyyy out of her element. A nervous giggle left her as she wrung a finger through a stray lock of her hair, waiting to be given her location before making her way over. Everything was fine she just had to be nice, and polite, and... probably just try her best to make it seem like she knew what she was doing! Yeah!
Approaching the table appointed to her with a smile on her face Tiara spotted a green haired stranger sitting on the chair and had to force another burst of nervous giggles down, instead sliding into the chair opposite and batting some hair from her eyes. "Uh- uhm- hello! I guess this is my table!" a pause, what did she do, er... uh... She sat awkwardly for a moment before rushing out, "Sorry- sorry i've never done this before- i'm Tiara, and, uh..."
She moved to grab her bag, pulling out a small box and opening it, showing it to the stranger. "...Do you like cupcakes? I've got strawberry, chocolate and... uh, cinnamon!" There, maybe that'd be a conversation opener or something, surely? She felt nervous just looking at the stranger.
Jazz was excited for this speed dating event and after trying on several outfits had finally decided on something decidely androgynous and comfortable. They had to wear the outfit all day after all and wouldn't have the patience to deal with a skirt or something too feminine. Thus a casual black jacket over a long sleeve lace up green camouflage shirt was chosen. Their black pants and wide black and silver belt around their waist completed the look while their fashionable, yet warm, boots, silver chain necklace, and a few earrings and clips strategically placed in their hair finished the ensemble. It had taken perhaps a bit longer to get their hair just so, opting to do a messy yet purposeful half up, half down hairstyle. Nothing overly fancy, but enough that it was clear that there was some effort made over their appearance. Of course Jazz had made sure to use some makeup to complete the look, precious little, but enough that they were satisfied they hadn't gone completely feminine this time. Just enough to make people guess.
When they saw someone coming their way, Jazz looked up and smiled at the cute girl approaching. Awww, it seemed the cutie was nervous. Of course that was the nature of this speed dating, wasn't it? One never knew what you were going to get. How adorable~ Jazz was even further endeared when he saw this girl's aura (oh, it was Tiara, according to the nametag, huh). There was something a little worrisome about that black spot but they'd learned not to judge a book by its cover. "The name's Jazz~," they mused, setting their chin in their hand, propping their elbow on the table while smiling bemusedly at Tiara as they continued. Oh? Cupcakes weren't expected but definitely appreciated, and chose the chocolate cupcake thereafter, humming as this Tiara seemed to be a flustered mess.
"Are you sure your name's not Candy?" Jazz asked, taking a bite of the cupcake, pausing briefly to give the girl time to answer, "because you're certainly sweet enough to be~." They smiled warmly at that, giving Tiara a wink before looking at the icebreakers. Hmmm? How fitting~. "What's the cheesiest pickup line you've heard? Or even used," Jazz hummed after a beat, hopefully this girl could relax some. She was starting to make them feel anxious just watching her.

Jazz! That was actually kinda a cool name, it wasn't like the name of a protagonist of one of the soaps she'd regularly binge with prince- it was easy to say too, and zz's just kinda... make everything cooler? She moves to slide the cupcake box back in her back now, chocolate was of course a great choice! A regular that everybody could adore- maybe. She wasn't the type of person who could match flavour to personality, so...
As they spoke again Tiara raised an eyebrow, is she... certain her names not candy, huh? Though as they continued a stupid grin settled on her face, and she brought a hand to her mouth to stiffle a fit of giggles- oh- that was cute. Shoulders shaking she shook her head a little, bringing her hand back, "Ah- uh- no i'm sure it's Tiara!" A head tilt, "Buut... I do make a lot of sweets!" oh Jazz was smooth, this was going to be... interesting. Uh- okay- they were looking at the card annnd.... pickup lines?!
Oh- oh- well she'd never had any used on her, she doesn't talk much with other people outside of work and she isn't in where the customers are... but- why couldn't she use google?! Oh- uh... well, her dad did... use a pickup line to get her mums attention before they started dating, right? "I don't think i've ever had one used on me, or used any..." She trailed off for a moment before tucking a strand of hair behind ehr ear, "Uh- but... My dad spent a while trying to get my um to date her- and- he used to tell me and my brother this story about how he went up to her one day- in the middle of the mall, leaned over her and went 'here i am, sweetheart, what are your other two wishes?"-" She almost very well burst into another fit of giggles, but force them down and instead continued on, "Er- and mum did slap him but... that's... the only one I can remember... my brother loved it, called dad a total player!"
She smiles at the stranger now, a little more comfortable. "And what about you? Er- cheesy pick up lines?"
Seeing the effect the pickup line had on Tiara only encouraged Jazz who just smiled innocently after finishing their cupcake. At the response that she never had one used on her, they had to stifle a laugh. Clearly this girl was just a tad bit oblivious if they hadn't recognized the Candy bit as a pickup line. Oh well, this could be fun~. Still, as she went on to talk about her family, Jazz listened quietly, snickering at the story that went along with a song. Oh, they'd most definitely had several horrible pickup lines used on him. Though it was hard to choose just one. Of course, Tiara reworded the question just enough to give them more freedom to talk about the more memorable ones.
"Mmm, I've had my fair share~. Your pickup line actually reminds me of another one: I may not be a genie, but I can make your dreams come true." Jazz mused, snickering a little at the memory, "That one earned a smack too. Then there was the time I was in a bar and someone came up and said: My buddies bet me that I wouldn’t be able to start a conversation with the hottest person around. Wanna buy some drinks with their money? He was cute enough I let him, got lucky that night~," they continued, sighing a little. Hopefully he'd find someone that would enjoy some fun later as well, but that remained to be seen~.
"I have a couple more cringy ones. Do you have a pencil? Cuz I want to erase your past and write our future. That one was from a complete narcissist. I taught them that I have a mean right hook~. Then the last one that I find cringy is: Was your father a thief? 'cause someone stole the stars from the sky and put them in your eyes. Guy got a punch to the gut~, but he was drunk off his arse so I wasn't about to deal with that." Jazz hummed, shrugging a little after that, "I know quite a few more, but those are certainly the most memorable~. But enough of that, you're quite the baker Miss Tiara~," they continued, reaching over to take the girl's hand, thumb lightly caressing her knuckles, "These hands of yours surely must work magic~."

As Jazz spoke Tiara listened intently, hand resting on her cheek as she took in their words- this was actually kinda fun? Of course just... talking to people was fun, and she didn't really do that a lot... eh... whatever! At their first pickup line the girl chuckled softly, "Arceus...that one might actually be worse than my dads." As they spoke the girl leaned forward a little, intrigued, and she couldn't help the next stupid giggle that bubbled out of her, "I mean, that ones not too bad! It is free drink, right?" though the term get lucky had the girl blushing slightly, ah, so they were that type of person...? Of course get lucky could mean a number of things but, that probably meant they were experienced with the whole... dating thing.
At their next lot Tiara had almost moved to grab a pencil, momentarily confused until they continued speaking the pickup line, of which she quickly ducked the drawing utensil back into her bag without a word. She continued to silently giggle, a bit wary that doing too much out loud would be seen as obnoxious- she may... have a giggling problem, but it's fine. "It's alright! All of those are deserving of a right hook or a bit of a fist to the..." A pause, that sentence didn't form right... "...Brain?" Worked good enough! Nice save!
Jazz laid off the pickup lines and Tiara blinked, quite the baker? Well she was decent, but she wasn't masterchef level yet! And she was very ready to say just that when Jazz leaned over and... oh! Eyebrows shot up in surprise as one of her hands was grabbed- uhm- uhHHh... uhhh.... uhm... okay?
What did she... uh- at their words the girls face practically bloomed red, shit. Her eyes moved to her hand, as if to avoid Jazz's gaze as a nervous flurry of giggles left her. "Uhm- I wouldn't know? If.. if they worked magic- at least not in the way you're implying- uh..." She trailed off, shaking her head a little, "B-But- I can make a mean two-tiered red velvet cake- and that needs a bit of... magic worked in, y'know?" Wow okay she was dying, this was fine- so... uh... what did she say? Uhm... "Though i'm not a professional baker i'm...actually just a dishwasher..."
Jazz was rather enjoying Tiara's reactions and had to stop a few times to chuckle along with her. A free drink wasn't too bad, and seeing Tiara's face as they explained what happened that night was quite adorable. They were quite amused when it seemed like Tiara was going to try and find a pencil but chose not to mention it. Jazz was briefly confused at the pause but laughed after that. "Nah, kinda hard to hit a brain. Though I have kneed a few jerks in the groin before~," Jazz mused, chuckling a little before leaning forward, opting to focus on Tiara rather than the bastards they'd had to deal with before.
As Tiara blushed, Jazz smiled more, they hadn't exactly been implying anything, but given the topic of conversation earlier, could see how it could be taken that way. A few soft chuckles escaped them after Tiara finished explaining, raising an eyebrow as she said she wasn't a professional baker. "You're not?" Jazz repeated, not sure they'd heard correctly, "With cupcakes as good as those, you could open your own bakery!" they continued, chuckling softly before looking over at the ice breaker list. Right, that next question would be fun~.
"If you could be granted three wishes, what would they be?" Jazz mused, sitting back and letting Tiara's hand go for the time being.
Post by Tiara Rose-Tremaine on Feb 3, 2020 11:25:08 GMT
At Jazz's confused reaction to her question, echoing her words she nodded, "I might be, one day!" the corner of her lip twitched up, "But i'm fine where I am right now- being a dishwasher isn't so bad! I can work my way up into food prep! It's really the only thing that can be done when you can't afford patisserie school!" she did grin though, cheeks still pink at Jazz complimenting her pride and joy, her cupcakes! "But thanks- I put a lot into them!"
Oooh, yeah! Next set of icebreakers! Tiara reeled her hand back to herself as it was let go, instead settling it under her chin. So... three wishes? "...Well i'd wish for my promotion to come sooner rather than later, but if i've waited two years i'm fine waiting another two years! I'm in no rush!" That and she was perfectly comfortable earning minimum wage, she could afford all she needed, after all, and that was enough for her! "Andd... i'd wish to have an endless supply of icing, you have no idea how fast the stuff runs out- maybe it's because those in my apartment block just love eating them..."
She trailed off for a moment with a hum, she was perfectly content with life right now, other than those minor things... well... there.. was one thing but- she didn't wanna make things sad- there was always one thing she always would have wished to have had back. "...and i'd..." She paused, an uncomfortable giggle leaving her. "...Kinda want my brother back- or i'd wish for it." Princeton. Prince. Her twin, the one person she could honestly have called a friend-life was so much better when he was there, with his jokes, and his laughter, and his sportiness- her parents adored him, she idolised him-if he hadn't have...
The darkness in her aura seemed to engulf the colours further and she girl let out another string of uncomfortable giggles, nails ever so slightly digging into her cheek. Everything was fine now! Prince was happy up wherever he was, chilling, playing baseball- if she wished for him back she'd just disrupt him! Very, very quickly she rushed in with, "Actually- i'd probably wish for unlimited flour- yeah."
Her hand left her face and she shook her head a few times, "Mm.. Well, don't leave me hanging! What are your three wishes, Jazz?"
Jazz could hardly believe their ears. Tiara was clearly a star baker and yet... she was just a dishwasher? Still, after hearing the three wishes that Tiara would make, it was clear that she wasn't as content as she made herself out to be. Hmm, maybe I could help her make one wish come true at least~. It was a thought for another time, that is if Tiara even wanted to associate with him after the speed dating rounds. Humming softly as she went on about icing and getting a promotion, Jazz kept a bemused smile on their features.
Except then Tiara's aura did a... very freaky thing and Jazz's eyes grew considerably. What's going on? Leaning forward in their chair, they reached over to take their hand, rubbing her knuckles with their thumb lightly. "Hey... you ok?" Jazz asked, their voice quiet, tilting their head slightly when Tiara changed their last wish. They smiled bemusedly, shrugging their shoulders at that, "I think that counts as four, don't you~?" teased lightly, still holding onto her hand.
"My wishes? Well, let's start with... the ability to protect those I love and care for as well as other people and pokemon in need. That there would be no more pokemon poachers, and... that I can prove myself to be a great ranger and hopefully show others that violence isn't always the answer~," Jazz mused, sighing a bit before waving his free hand in dismissal, "Enough about that though, tell me, Miss Star Baker Tiara~. Why haven't you ever asked for a promotion before?"
Post by Tiara Rose-Tremaine on Feb 4, 2020 10:53:57 GMT
Tiara was slightly startled as her hand was grabbed, confusion ghosting over her features for a moment, uh... why would she not be? Though the touch did drag her out of her thoughts ever so slightly The girl blinked, "...why wouldn't I be?" her brother wasn't, and her parents weren't, but she was Tiara, she had to be fine, for her family! "I'm the face of being okay!" She was already well on her way to being self-sufficient, not having to rely on her parents with her job, living in her own apartment, buying all she needed- she couldn't be happier!
She didn't like people looking at her like she was being pitied- though Jazz wasn't necessarily doing that, so... it was probably fine. She managed to keep up her smile, uncertain, she just had to not bring Princeton up. "It doesn't count as four since I nullified the first one, flour, icing and a promotion are what i'd wish for, said and done!"
And her brother- yes? No... maybe- ugh her head hurts. Anyway! As Jazz spoke of their wishes her mouth opened in a silent gasp, ah! So they were a ranger! All those wishes were actually kinda noble too, fairly selfless! The other people who lived in her apartment block wouldn't be fond of them just because they were a ranger and against fighting, she could tell, but they were a good person, from the sounds of it! She grinned then, eyes scrunching a little along with the gesture. "Sounds like the sorta goals a ranger would have- they're great wishes!" She tilts her head, "Isn't there anti-poaching laws? Are there really that many people still... out there doing bad things?" The corner of her lip twitched a little, that was awful! "But yeah... violence is really bad- there's surprisingly a lot of crime around Arciel?" Wouldn't she know it.
As they dismissed everything though the girl blinked, only to giggle awkwardly at the question asked- ah- about the promotion. "Well... when I did originally get the job I told them, and then said I had to work up to be able to properly work in the kitchen- I dunno how long working up takes but, i'm sure i'll get there eventually!" A nod, "Besides, i'm content washing dishes until i'm needed, I wouldn't want to unnecessarily bother anybody, y'know?" Especially when she didn't have the required skills- but once she started working in the kitchen she'd get experience to bake, then if she say... worked at a bakery a while after that she could move on to cooking there, then eventually making sweets! Maybe!
"Even if I never get the promotion, as long as i'm making a stable living and able to provide for myself and my mons, it's fine!" As long as she didn't need to bother her parents and rely on them.
As Tiara denied that anything was wrong, Jazz hummed slightly, not believing her words in the slightest. Her aura certainly told a different story, but he wasn't going to mention that right then. At her insistence that the wish about her brother didn't count, Jazz shrugged a bit, "I know I'd wish my dad back in a second too, but that loss also made me who I am," they said, giving Tiara a winning smile.
Jazz smiled a little when Tiara went on about his wishes and shrugged a little at the follow up questions,"Thanks, but really, the way I see it. As long as there's people out there, there's going to be those that just... enjoy doing harm. I can't speak about the crime rate in Arciel since I haven't been here for that long... but I like the team I have and hope to bring it down some," he continued, talking quietly before waving a hand in dismissal. That was enough about that depressing subject.
Of course, hearing that she hadn't pressed for the promotion was surprising. Maybe Tiara wasn't as confident about her abilities as she made herself out to be. "You know, you should have more faith in yourself~. You're gorgeous, and make amazing cupcakes. It's been 2 years, yes? You should ask, my dear~," Jazz mused, humming softly before lifting up her hand to kiss the back of it.
Post by Tiara Rose-Tremaine on Feb 6, 2020 3:15:05 GMT
Oh? Jazz's dad was gone too? Tiara pursed her lips for a moment but nodded. Prince's loss formed how the rest of her life went, how people treated her, looked at her. If he was back she probably wouldn't even be striving to become a sweets maker, her parents would love her and not act like she's a ghost of their past and everything might have been okay- but Princeton might be enjoying himself, wherever he was, life was supposed to go one way and disrupting it's plans was... probably awful... she just really missed him, sometimes. "It's... peculiar how loss works like that- you grow and change yourself around it, right?" Ah, she was getting a little dark... a nervous giggle, then she shook her head, 'Ah, nevermind!" Jazz's smile was still awfully bright though, which did quell Tiara's thoughts a little, they were a good person, she was able to very easily come to that conclusion.
Oh! So they're new to Arciel? Hmm... that's actually kinda cool, being able to see the whole region with fresh eyes, since she'd lived here her whole life the concept was almost thrilling, in a way. "Well I hope you're able to do great things in keeping crime at bay too- especially with uh, that confidence- that can go a long way." they dismissed the convo before she could start going into detail about exactly where crime was most commonly found, or the most unlikely common types- living in a block with a bunch of them really advanced her knowledge...
...oh Jazz would hate her if they found out she was living in a complex with them all which was basically just a crime ring- better not mention that. Cheap rent was great, no matter what is cost- and she'd eventually be able to work her way out of it!
As they spoke once more Tiara's eyebrow raised ever so slightly, the girl absorbing the words spoken to her, a blush creeping up her neck once more- ahhh- oh. Lips pressed together then parted slightly, mainly in a state of 'oh what do i do' as her hand was lifted and oh-so delicately kissed. She was never one who was good with compliments, since in her mind she was the carbon copy of her brother, and all she'd gotten about her looks was how similar she still looked to him, or how he'd look exactly like her when she grew up, to the point she often avoided the mirror- not that she was self-conscious! It's just that she was used to her appearance being... unpleasant for most who had been familiar with her when she was young- and it still is.
A nervous giggle eventually left her lips, and she averted her gaze. "A-Ah..." proper etiquette would be to compliment back and then follow up on what he had said- she didn't.. feel a need to ask them because it was an eventual event, probably, and.. they really liked her cupcakes... aaaah...
"...Thank you." She eventually managed out,, having been able to wrangle words together. Her eyes crinkled a little as she brought her gaze back to Jazz's. "I- uh- just don't see much point in asking- it could be seen as pushy and the last thing I want is to get my already minimum-wage pay cut, waiting is probably my specialty!" Good! You addressed that! Gooo Tia! And then- uh... "Er...Has anybody ever told you that you're super charming? It's like- I can't figure out a response for the life of me!" Another giggle, nervous and slightly awkward, as if it'd aid to explaining her words. "I hope you're not just trying to butter me up here, Jazz- that's supposed to be a bakers job, duh!"
Jazz didn't really say much more about losing their dad. It wasn't a topic they liked to delve into and simply hummed at Tiara's response. Yes, it was peculiar... but change was the only constant in life, that was something they'd learned quite some time ago~. The comment about crime after that earned a bright smile and a nod. Yes, they would indeed~. It was their goal to make a difference in any way they could.
Ironically enough, if Jazz had known Tiara's living situation, they would have certainly tried to help her get out of that part of town. Cheap rent or not, nobody should have to live in fear every day of their lives and that was something they wanted to work to prevent. Of course, that blush was absolutely adorable and Jazz couldn't help but smile more. If they had known all it took was a simple kiss to elicit such a reaction, they would have done it much, much sooner. She's so cute.
Of course then Tiara had to go on about how waiting is her speciality and then this talk about minimum wage? Pffft. "What have you got to lose? Honey, it's a minimum wage job. If they don't promote you or even give you a chance after two years? Find some other place. Cuz honey, you're selling yourself short," Jazz encouraged, bringing that hand to their lips again, "Oh? Charming am I~? Mmm, maybe once or twice~. Enough to perhaps get your number when this is over~," they continued, only to laugh at that hilarious pun. It took a good moment before they could stop laughing. Arceus, they loved this girl.
"Quite the punny one, aren't you~? But no, I'm only telling it as I see it. And you, my adorable, beautiful Tiara, are much too good to be a lowly dishwasher. You're amazing, and I do wish you'd stop selling yourself short." This was met with Jazz pulling Tiara a little closer, enough to kiss her cheek thereafter.

She reached up with her free hand to scratch at her nose, finger grazing the small stud for a moment as she kinda felt a little awkward, especially after bringing up her minimum wage position- especially to a ranger who probably earned a fair bit. At their simple question 'what have you got to lose' she fought back bringing up how hard it was to get into the chef/baking industry without prior experience or credentials, and how bad the hiring was, instead bringing her lips together as they finished speaking. She... "...There's not many places near where i'm renting that are hiring- i'm in Pine and there's only... one or two places around the area that i'd be able to get to daily- then take into the equating the experience that I lack- this place is the best choice for me right now!"
That and travel costs to go outside of Pine would pile up- she didn't know if she'd be able to drag herself across a route for work every morning, it was hard enough waking up every other night to some new sketchy person coming around to one of her neighbors wanting criminal sanctuary cuz they were on the run. She strayed from her thoughts as her hand was raised again, how??? Does she react to this?? An awkward giggle left her once more and her eyes scrunched ever so slightly- aaaaaaaa?? "Err- If you wanted my number you really just have to ask- I.. uh... wouldn't mind giving it?" She only has like five contacts anyway, and Jazz seemed like really nice person- if not in a stupidly flirty please help me kinda way. And that was fun??
Jazz's reaction to her pun has the girl softening slightly, a proud grin blooming onto her features as she brought her free hand over to cover her lower face- oh they had a contagious laugh. She thought the wordplay was a bit of a stretch, but if Jazz liked it then, that was really good? She had been really nervous about coming tonight, but it was positive interactions like this that shrouded her usual feeling of loneliness in a bubbly haze. That was always nice.
Once the laughter died down Tiara maybe was expecting a pun back- but what she received had her flustering on the spot- the tips of her ears gaining colour. Oh jirachi, send her wishes right now so she could know how to react? Their adorable, beautiful Tiara?! HUH?! And- that?? uh- she hadn't been called any of these in years, what was the responsible way to respond to compliments again- and why was that one possessive word having her going all red?! What?? Did she?? do?? And again they said to stop selling herself short and said something about her cooking skills- uh-
What were they doing- they were- aH?! Lips connected to her cheek and the girl blanked for a solid few seconds, blinking like a deer in headlights before all at once reeling back, tugging her hand back from Jazz a little to push her hand at her cheek, an expression of bewilderment on her features. It took a few seconds before she was giggling, bringing a fist to her lips and averting her gaze, a mumbled ,"A-Ah..." leaving her.
Tiara, sweetie, get yourself together! One second... two seconds... She managed to eventually raise her eyes and mumble out, "T-The only thing i'm really planning on selling short is shortbread cookies..." A headshake, but before she could manage out anymore words the distinct sound of a timer going off filled her ears- ah- ah fuck?? Uhm? "...Once I have enough money I might be able to move to one of the cities- to get a better position- but for now i'll just be washing dishes- uh- anyway..." She was fumbling now, and quickly grabbed out her phone, "...I haven't had fun talking to people like this in a long while- if you do want more of my uh- 'amazing' baking..."
She flashed her number at them then, awkward smile on her face, "You can grab this? If not, it's okay! I'm not the funnest of people so..."
Tiara's expression was truly adorable, especially when she mumbled something about cookies. A soft chuckle escaped Jazz as they watched her get ahold of herself again. Oh? Was that the bell already? Hmm, oh well~. Perhaps they would be able to meet again. As Tiara stated how much fun they'd had talking to them, Jazz smiled brightly, "The pleasure's all mine~, you're truly a delight, Tiara~," Jazz began and would've surely continued before she saw fit to mention that she wasn't the most fun person to be around.
Frowning softly, Jazz stood up and stepped forward, giving Tiara a brief, if sweet kiss, "A taste for later~," they hummed, bringing a hand to Tiara's face before taking her phone and quickly sending themselves a text, "And now you have my number~. It was a delight, beautiful Tiara. Perhaps we'll meet again~," they continued before stepping back and giving her a brief wave goodbye. There were other dates to be had after all~.
