Gabe needed… a chance to cool down. All that dancing had been…had been a lot. He totally wasn’t just escaping from the ballroom for a bit or anything, though. No of course not. He was just going to go change outfits and come back and maybe do the maze— Yes! The maze. That was exactly what he was going to do— and exactly what he did. A Mismagius costume would be swapped and stored somewhere before a Purrloin outfit was pulled on. Exiting after, he was quick to skip in that direction.
What he wore now was perhaps a little less detailed than the previous, but overall it maintained a refined air. An off-white dress shirt was cloaked with a deep purple vest. The prior trailed down a bit leading to some black leggings and then some military boots with a few spikes on the toes. His long hair had been pulled back into a tie with a bell that jingled now and again as he moved. It trailed down his back almost concealing the purple scythe-like tail that had been hooked on. Across the upper half of his face, the cat-like eyes of Purrloin concealed him. Along his hands were fingerless gloves showing off his deep purple nails. The single ring on his left index finger was silver and had a few subtle spikes sticking up from them. Not quite a collar per say but maybe a more serious claw. Overall, yes, yes he was a cat burglar for this one. It was hilarious to him.
Coming up to the start of the maze, he’d stop short on finding someone else there. “Well now, seems we arrived about the same time. Might you want to go in together?” he asked. Sure, he was fine with going in alone and freaking himself out even more tonight, but why, heh.
Riley was awfully proud of his costume. Despite feeling masculine today, he wore a long slender black dress that split high up the side of one leg. He didn't bind, letting the shape of the dress and low-cut top emphasize his cleavage. Long white gloves reached above his elbows, and long white boots reached just above his knees. A white mask with big blue "eyes" and a blue gem on the forehead covered his face. His hair was pulled up and hidden in a net, with a long green wig replacing it, reaching down just past his ass. Tiny streaks of black interrupted occasionally by a spot of blue ran through the wig. And propped on his head on one side was a large hair pin that looked something like a cross between a rabbit and a mic headset. Yes, he made a fine Meloetta if he did say so himself.
Hunter was on his shoulder, her fur lightly chalked cream and green and brown in the shapes of a Leafeon's markings. They had been discussing perhaps evolving her someday, and were leaning toward Leafeon, so in a way this was a way for her to test how it felt to be one, heh.
Just as Riley was about to give up the chance to show off his beautiful costume and enter alone, though, salvation arrived in the form of a Purrloin. Oh! Another Pokemon the petty thief was terribly fond of. "Well me-ow~" he chimed, his masculine voice perhaps giving away his actual gender at the moment, or perhaps just being confusing in conjunction with the boobs, but heh. Oh well. He'd been too devoted to the costume to bother wearing his Mars necklace, so he didn't mind if people were a little confused. "Aren't you looking dapper?" he lightly teased.
"We'd love to go in together, isn't that right?" he asked his Eevee, who answered with a small "vay". "Are we exchanging names, or shall I simply call you Purrloin for this evening?"
A catty smile flashed across Gabe’s lips as the person dressed as Meloetta spoke. He didn’t… quite know what to think with that voice and that appearance, but it was also Halloween so honestly who gave a shit. “Hardly as radiant as the legendary Meloetta,” Gabe answered with a deep bow instead. “Your highness.”
Easing back up again, he folded both hands in front of himself for only a moment before shrugging his shoulders. “Purrloin is fine, or Kitty,” he laughed again. “It takes away a little of the veil of magic to exchange names— at least for me.” Maybe depending on how this went, that would change, but for now.
Riley grinned as the Purrloin bowed to him. "Oh my, 'Your Highness' huh?" He chuckled softly. "Could get used to that," he teased. Veil of magic, huh? Well then, Riley would certainly hate to ruin a magical evening for such a fine feline.
He nodded. "Very well, Pretty Kitty. Meloetta is a bit of a mouthful, so you can also call me 'Mel' or 'my Prince' or 'Your Highness' as you see fit~" He stuck his tongue out briefly, inadvertantly showing off his piercing there. "But let's head in, shall we~? You were here first, so why don't you lead the way?"
You enter a room filled with cobwebs and spider Pokemon. You must navigate the webs to get through the room. There is a long table in the middle of the room. On top of the table, there are three candy bowls, and a sign reading "Choose 1". The bowl on the left has a live Joltik atop it. The bowl in the middle has a creepy hand sticking out of it. The bowl on the right has a cobweb atop. Pick a bowl. Players may pick different bowls or the same one. Roll one die at the end of your post.
A giggle came and went from Gabe. Mel or Prince or Highness then. A cheesy smile came to his features for a moment, but he quickly recuperated. “Alright~” The mention of heading in, though, had his features relaxing some. “Right,” heading to the door, he pushed inwards stepping into what lay next first.
And it was…. “Oh gross…” Gabe muttered softly to himself as he stepped into the room feeling his skin begin to crawl when the top of his head happened to pass a not so subtle cobweb. Reaching up, he pealed the cobweb off and ran his fingers through his hair a couple of times. Had he gotten everything out? Ducking under the next couple here and there, he managed to avoid the rest of them. “Not too creepy yet—“
He misspoke on seeing the table. Choose 1. The hand was definitely creepier than any of the spiders were. His gaze flicked back towards Meloetta. “Which are you going to pick?” he asked. Glancing forward again, he made eye contact with the Joltik. Well, it was better to know his foe than not at that point. Something about the hand felt off, and he wasn’t going to test whatever that other cobweb belonged to. Leaning forwad to the Joltik, Gabe smiled. “May I?” he asked sweetly reaching for some of whatever was in that bowl.
Riley heard Purrloin's reaction before he really saw the room. Gross?? Oh-- oh! "Gnarly." The bad kind. But also kind of cool too? Heh. At least the decor was on point for the theme. Then they came upon the table, and Purrloin questioned which he would pick before choosing one of his own. "Hmmm... What do you think, my lady-in-waiting?" he asked Hunter. The Eevee pondered the question, then decided to jump down on the table. She moved around and sniffed the bowls from a distance, then squeaked at the one with the hand. "You think?" he questioned. Well, all right... If Hunter thought it was a good idea, Riley would trust her, and reached into the bowl...
The Joltik tries to bite you, but you are agile enough to move out of the way. The Joltik scurries off, allowing you to take 2 Rare Candies. Please update your bag!
You stealthily sneak past the hand, managing to grab 4 Rare Candies! Please update your bag. Onto the next room!
You have entered the room.
What will you do?
You enter a room that looks bigger than it should. In front of you is a pit you cannot see the bottom of. Jutting up from the pit are stone pillars arranged in a 4x4 grid, with just enough space between them that it's possible to fall, but even a clumsy person should be able to jump between them with enough ease.
The tops of the pillars seem to have one glowing button each, and are engraved with images. The row of 4 on the far left side of the room depicts witch hats. The mid-left 4 depict moons. The mid-right 4 depict bats. The far right 4 depict pumpkins. At the front of the room is a backlit plaque with four pictures: A leaf, a wolf, an open set of fangs, and a broom, in that order.
Special note: Staff characters must roll a special die and get 30 or higher for their character to figure out the puzzle, since they know the answer.
As the Joltik tried to take a shocking nip, Gabe pulled his hand back. The creature hissed and then scrambled away. “Ah, well, thank you then,” Gabe snorted sofyly reaching in again to grasp whatever was there. Two candies? Oh well now… He’d store those on his person for later. His gaze flickered over to Meloetta watching as the Eevee selected the one with the hand. Would it reach for— Oh, it didn’t, heh. Maybe his suspicion was for not then. “Your Pokemon really has some intuition there,” he mused after the thought.
Looking around after, he noticed a door on the opposite side of the room. “Looks like an exit,” he commented briefly. “Or an entrance into something else.” As he was surmising. Slowly starting in that direction, he opened the next door holding it open this time for Meloetta first before following in after.
The room that came after was…. weird. His gaze flicked from the stone pillars to the wall and back again. Squinting to read the plaque, he registered the words only after a moment. “Well…. The broom and hats have to go together,” he surmised briefly. “The moon…. Would be a wolf, werewolf….Fangs has to be bats…. Which leads the leaf to be the pumpkins…” That wasn’t too difficult. “Looks like we just have to put them in order hm?” he ask-stated.
"She's pretty great~" Riley agreed, and Hunter puffed up with pride before climbing back up on his shoulder. Little did they know that Hunter's choice could have gotten Riley booted from the room if luck hadn't been on his side. But it wasn't as though it mattered, now. They were moving on several candies richer.
When they came to the next room, Purrloin pretty quickly reasoned through the puzzle, and Riley had to agree. "Yeah, sounds right. So I think we just..." He hopped onto the pumpkin pillar on the closest row and hit the button, then hopped over to the wolf of the following row and hit that button. Then the bat, then the witch, as Gabe had said, before hopping off on the other side of the pit and waiting to see if the door would open.
All the pillars light up, and the door opens. You guessed correctly! Onto the next room!
You have entered the room.
What will you do?
You enter a room that seems to have only a pit between you and the door on the other side. The backlit plaque at the front reads: "Have faith… and careful footing."
If you step out or carefully test it, you will find the entire thing solid, just invisible, against the door side of the pit, but only for a few feet. After that, it changes into a more narrow winding path. Make 3 Dexterity rolls.
Oh, Meloetta was agile as well, heh. Well then. It seemed they had guessed correctly given the door opened right after. “Nice,” he hummed softly waiting a moment before stepping into the next room.
….And oh dear fuck it was a pit. “Have faith and careful footing…” Faith in what? Faith that the height wasn’t enough to kill them? Gabe muttered something under his breath was he slowly set his foot out… Ah. It was solid just unseeable. Great. A small twitchy smile came to his features as he looked back at Mel again. “Though I suppose that’s no trouble for a legendary of dance or a cat for that matter…” he mused briefly raising a hand like a paw and bumping his mask briefly.
How well he’d do was…. going to be the actual test, though.
In case it's relevent, Gabe has +5 Dexterity 3kdRKyW9p_p_p_··
Riley took a bow as Purrloin briefly complimented his performance of sorts.
But then it was on to the next room and... well damn, and he'd thought the last room looked scary to fall into. "Yikes," he commented. Purrloin read the plaque, and Riley raised a brow. "Are we supposed to scoot around the edge or what?" But then his companion tested it and found the trick to it. "Ah, I see. Or well, I don't see." He laughed softly. Gabe made an excellent point though. "True indeed. Though I really should have changed into my Pirouette form to be extra sure of footing, hm?" Still, he watched where Gabe stepped and followed suit.
You manage to make it across the path to the other side of the room, and the door opens! Onto the next room!
You have entered the room.
What will you do?
You enter a dimly lit room with three doors. In front of each door is an Eeveelution, one Vaporeon, one Flareon, and one Jolteon. A backlit plaque near the entrance reads: "Two tell lies. One tells the truth." Make a perception roll. (This is not tied to a Skill, it's just a flat die roll.)
Don’t fall. Don’t fall. Don’t fall. Don’t fall. Gabe chewed the inside of his mouth as he made his way across, quietly wishing that he at least had something to grab onto. He wasn’t about to reach for Gum. That was always a last resort. As they got to the other side and to the next door, Gabe forced a chuckle from him. “W-well now, that wasn’t too bad~” he mused forcing that smile a bit too high. No, no he wasn’t nervous, shut up.
Stepping into the next room, Gabe found himself looking from the Vaporeon to the Flareon to the Jolteon. “One tells the truth… how… shocking.” No, Gabe, don’t pun at a time like this. “It could really leave us burned.” Stop. “Or drenched in regret.” Ok. That was all three. He allowed a soft laugh to break from him only then, and a goofy smile pulled across his features thereafter. “Sorry, couldn’t help it.” But hmmmmm….being serious now.
Riley would be lying to say he wasn't panicking juuuust a little up on the invisible walkway, especially every time his foot edged against a gap in the floor. But following Purrloin's lead gave him some confidence, and thankfully they were able to make it across. Riley breathed out a sigh of relief as they reached the far side. "Thank goodness."
They read the next riddle, and... oh, oh dear. This wasn't going to be easy was it. "Hm?" What was so shocking about it? Or... burned, wait, was he... When the Purrloin completed the pun trio, Riley snorted out a laugh. "Nice job," he said emphatically.
"But hmm..." He put a finger to his face in thought and squinted as he looked over the Eeveelutions. "Which of you are liars...."
It's almost hidden by the dark lighting, but you notice the Jolteon has a Zorua's tail! Furthermore, you can see that the Vaporeon has cyan slitted eyes like a Zoroark! That leaves only the Flareon! Will you go through its door?
Note: Your partner may not know about the Zorua or Zoroark unless you tell them.
You can't spot anything out of the ordinary. Looks like you'll just have to take a guess. Which Eeveelution's door will you choose? Players may choose separate doors.
Gabe looked from the Jolteon to the Flareon to the Vaporeon. It was a little too dark for him to really make out any details on them (that or maybe his vision was getting worse but ahaahahah nah). “Too bad they can’t talk…” he hummed already knowing the answer to the human-question form of this riddle. This one was a little less straightforward though.
“Hmmmm well… which do you pick?” Gabe asked glancing sideways at Meloetta. Without much to go on, he was willing to follow after whatever choice was made in this case. Worst case scenario they got kicked or something right?
Riley squinted harder at the Eeveelutions... until finally, a bit of movement in the dark behind the Jolteon caught his eyes, which opened wide. Oh! If that was the case then... Now that he knew what he was looking for, spotting things out of the ordinary became easier, and he soon realized what was up with the Vaporeon.
Purrloin's question made it seem he didn't notice what Riley did, so hm... Should he convince him to pick the wrong door? Nah, Purrloin seemed cool, and he'd helped them get across that invisible walkway by going first. Pranking him would be more mean than funny. "The Jolteon and Vaporeon are Zorua," he said. "Or maybe Zorua and Zoroark? I can't quite tell. But look, you can see the Jolteon's tail," Riley explained. Hunter puffed up proudly at her trainer's observation and deduction skills.
Grinning easily, he said, "Which means those two are the liars. So let's go, shall we, my feline friend~?" He led them through the Flareon door.
As you open the door, the other two Eeveelutions revert to a Zorua and Zoroark! The foxes all cheer for you. Onto the next room!
You have entered the room.
What will you do?
You enter a room more brightly lit than the others. It looks like a child's room, and a soft melody plays. There are 3 creepy dolls sitting on a shelf in the middle of the room, with a box of doll clothes beneath them. The clothing options are: Doctor, Princess, Cowgirl, Ballerina, Unicorn Onesie, Superheroine, Fairy. A sign beneath the dolls reads: "Dress me!" Each doll has a riddle attached.
Doll 1: A maiden fair, with heart so pure. The bravest folk she does allure. With nary a wrinkle and not a pimple, her image is a status symbol.
Doll 2: The purest of hearts and the fairest of looks, you'll find her in meadows or by flowing brooks. Her whimsical charms can charm almost any, though of her kind there are not many.
Doll 3: Grace and poise are hers to claim. Entertainment is her aim. It may look easy, but don't be fooled. For years and years this girl has schooled.
Special note: Staff characters must roll a special die and get 30 or higher for their character to figure out the puzzle, since they know the answer. Remove this if no one is staff.
