Beta Testing Job

When Marley set out on his journey, he expected he would have to do a fair bit to earn some money and have a good place to sleep every night. And so far, things had been what he expected. Mining, construction, training. But he didn't expect beta testing a game to be one of those jobs. But, well, here he was. Money was money, and it was nice to take a break from some heavy labor for a change.

The game in question was a multiplayer brawler. Three other people were sitting in the room with him, controllers at the ready. The game seemed relatively simple, just beat the others and last man standing wins. Controller in hand, Marley braced himself for the fight to begin.

Marley gave a laugh as he managed to knock out one of his opponents. The game took a little getting used to. The ragdoll physics in this game have been cranked up to eleven, making controlling the character's tricky. And yet, that was part of the charm. A sort of chaotic mess that was actually quite enjoyable. That being said, Marley was getting the hang of this game. His eye focused on the screen, his fingers racing over the buttons to try and keep himself in the game. He would occassionally glance over at the other testers, seeing how they were handling things.

Bug report!  It seems like your character has decided that the leftmost wall is the most fascinating part of the stage, and is now pretty much adhered to it.  How are you supposed to be fighting like this?

Welp, it had to happen sooner or later. A glitch that forced Marley's character to move over to the far left and stay there, unable to do anything. As Marley struggled against the controls, one of his opponent's took the opportunity to smack him down, taking him out of the round. Marley gave an annoyed grunt, but this was the point behind these tests. As he waited for the match to finish up, Marley went to bug report screen to report the issue. Well, so far it's been going well. One bug and even then, it was something that could be cleared up. Now to wait to get back to playing.

You're not sure how long it was before the entire screen goes black and the game appears to have crashed. The other three players glare at you.

Marley blinked as he looked at the screen. Well, he certainly hadn't expected that. At the glare of the other gamers, Marley shrugged. "Hey, don't get mad at me. Not my fault their bug report system's, well, buggy." This was certainly something they would need to work out before they could continue beta testing. And in the end, it seemed the developers agreed. Beta Testing was put on halt for a bit while they tried to work out that major kink. Fortunately, Marley and the others were still getting paid for their time. Hopefully once they fixed that he could come back in for some more.
