Glowworm Caverns, the untapped jewel of the mountains, some might say. Elizabeth had heard rumors about these caves from the locals in Pine Town but she wasn't sure how much she really believed them. The ranger however had come prepped with her mining kit as the one rumor that stuck out of all was that these vast caverns held valuable mega stones and z-crystals within and that was certainly something worth checking out.

Naturally the ranger wasn't alone. Her ever present companions, Tansy and Raya, were by her side following the young brunette's lead. Liz of course didn't really know what to expect within the glowing caves, but at least the moss help provide some light as the traveled into the cavernous depths. The ranger was also accompanied by a few less familiar faces. Riding on her back, Niam the raichu, peered over the ranger's shoulder. Truthfully the kanto raichu was a bit on the big side to be playing piggy back with Liz but the ranger let him get away with it since his mate Cecylia was always on her head or shoulder and she didn't want him to get jealous.

Misu was their scout today, the greninja leapt from rock to rock in silence, stealing through the shadows as one would expect from a ninja. And bringing up the rear was Keijo the clefable who seemed more interested in repeatedly using Metronome just to see what he would get. Liz was keeping an eye on the fairy though, thus far, he hadn't conjured up anything too problematic. Meraud remained in her pokeball, the ghostly cursola was still a bit miffed with her capture over all.

Everyone had been instructed to remain on the look out for potential mega stones or z-crystals, though the ranger was hoping to find something specific. Back in her home region, Elizabeth had had a mega ring and a the mega stone Venusaurite. In all the shuffle of the move and everything else that had happened after her mother's death, the young woman had lost these precious items. Having only recently been able to afford a new keystone here in Arciel, now the ranger hoped to discover Venusaurite, perhaps in these very caves.

All is silent as you travel through the caves, save for the chatters of a few Pokemon that quickly hustle away.

The group dutifully trekked on ahead looking for what might be a good spot to dig. Raya was being especially watchful since the lucario's natural Aura abilities allowed her to pick up on things like mega stones. Misu slipped down a side corridor that lead into a rocky dead end. The part dark type was difficult to sense for the telepath who hurried to catch up with her before she got too far ahead.

"Misu?"

She probed gently to test if the greninja was listening. Misu was fairly receptive to the ranger's telepathic connection and peered back around the corner from the cave ceiling, her eyes gleaming in the dark.

"This could be a good spot, seems private."

The greninja responded, her thoughts flowed like water but still felt clouded. She popped back around the corner and the others hurried after. Raya crossed her arms and raised a brow at Liz, still wary of the newer members of the team, especially when they had a dark typing.

"Are you sure about going down a dark dead end like that?"

The lucario inquired with hesitation in her sharp thoughts. It was always interesting sensing the difference in each of her team's thoughts. Raya's often reflected her steely, focused mind and to some it might feel harsh and cold. To Liz however it was comforting and made the ranger feel secure, as if she always had a solid foundation of steel beside her.

"Now give her a chance, she might be new but I get a good feeling from her."

Tansy's mental voice was like life itself, always earthy and vibrant though it had the tiniest bit of bite to it. Raya sighed and nodded, it really wouldn't do to be overly suspicious of their teammates. Plus the greninja's aura didn't show any signs of malcontent. The fairy trailing behind them though was the one to really watch out for. A sudden slamming of rocks behind them caused them all to spin around toward the sound.

Keijo had successfully managed to summon Rock Throw with Metronome and blocked the way back through the passage. Liz sighed and gave the clefable a disapproving look. Keijo just beamed cheerily apparently pleased he'd managed something disruptive. The ranger wasn't too worried about the blocked passage, they had minding gear after all, but now it seemed their dig spot had been chosen for them.

"Hey, no more Metronome or you get to spend the rest of the trip in your ball."

The ranger warned the clefable who continued to grin at her quite pleased with his mess. However he did stop with the metronomes. Liz and the others set to work digging in the rock slide, but maybe they'd come across something of interest at least.

You make quick and steady progress with your pickax. No Mega Stone yet, but you find a lot of pretty crystals and interestingly-textured rocks. Seems you've struck a good vein!

Well so far so good. Mining was hard work and despite the cool, damp cave Liz was starting to break out into a sweat. The ranger took a break for a moment to drink some water and redo her ponytail, tying the excess hair up out of her face and stuffing it into her cap. She watched Tansy and Raya chip away at the rock, Raya's Metal Claws certainly coming in handy. Frenzy Plant was as well as the thicky, thorny vines were able to shift a good portion of the cave in.

Niam was doing his best to provide a bit of light for the group, his cheeks sparking continuously. Keijo was attempting to grasp the electric mouse's tail which was twitching with mild anxiety. The raichu shot the clefable dirty looks every time he felt the fairy's fingers brush across his tail. Misu had taken it upon herself to venture further down the chamber they were currently stuck in, just to see if anything looked promising. Of course Raya potentially ought to be the one doing most of the searching due to her Aura Sight though the lucario was also able to tell at a glance whether anything of interest was being dug up.

The rocks of the cave in began to shift downward and a small glow from the other side could now be seen pouring over the top. A bit more and they ought to have the path cleared. Liz got back to her feet and returned to picking away at the rocks. It was slow going as they did have to be careful not to damage anything of value but it wasn't like they had anywhere else to be. However a bathroom break would likely be required soon.

The more you and your team digs, the more you find that this particular vein extended pretty far! The earth was rich with ore, crystals and other such minerals. If there was ever a promising find, it would likely be deeper within.

The group continued chipping away at the pile of rocks finding lots of interesting things but not their prize. Raya was carefully examining every bit of stone and mineral they unearthed on the off chance one of them had an aura to them. No luck so far however.

It was odd how the cave glowed. Naim was acting as a light source but it wasn't greatly needed. The ranger briefly wondered what caused the fungus to glow like it did. She let her pokemon take a break while she continued mining. Keijo however had at last managed to get his paws on Naim's tail and the raichu had quite rightfully shocked the fool out of the clefable leaving him paralyzed for a minute.

Misu returned from searching the back of the cavern not having found much else of interest. She traded off with the others in helping dig. At least a path had cleared large enough for Liz to get out if the need arose. As she could always recall her team to their pokeballs that was the most that was truly needed. Of course the young woman wasn't going anywhere just yet, not until they found something.

"Hey Liz, think I might've found something..."

The lucario began thinking but her train of thought ended causing the ranger to glance over to her sparing partner. Raya blinked then sighed and shook her head as her discovery turned out to simply be a carbink, and a rather small one at that.

"Well scratch that, it's just a carbink."

Raya's mild disappointment could still be felt by the ranger who chuckled and gave her a shrug. The little rock fairy however wriggled up out the pile of rocks and began watching them intently.

"Hello there Carbink. Hope we're not disturbing you."

Liz greeted their new audience with a smile as she traded off with the others once more. The ranger stepped back and surveyed the work they'd managed thus far. Nearly a third of the cave in Keijo'd caused had been cleared and they could see through to the other side without trouble. The cavern's natural path still wasn't completely clear and as a ranger it would certainly behoove her to keep any such paths completely clear. Thus they'd remain until all the cave in had been cleared out.

Tansy grinned happily at Carbink as she watched the sentient rock bob around and examine all their equipment. The venusaur was always pleased to meet new pokemon. She began gesturing with a vine to everyone and introducing their group. Liz chuckled, always glad to see her partner in good spirits.

Naim and Keijo were still bickering and the ranger cleared her throat as she glanced over at the pair. Naim looked sheepish though Keijo just shrugged then turned to peer at Carbink.

"Oi, be nice to our new friend now Keijo."

The ranger firmly informed the fairy who didn't seem to be paying attention. For a clefable, Keijo certainly wasn't the simple joyful pokemon most might expect. Keijo still had the typical carefree attitude, well it was more of a 'didn't care' attitude. But hey if all pokemon were exactly alike or fit their 'stereotype' life would be rather dull. And Liz was getting fairly comfortable handling her impish or naughty team members. Keijo was honestly no where near as bad as Shyam had been when they first met.

The ranger kept an eye on the group as she picked up her pick once more to return to digging. Misu was contentedly slamming an icey fist into the rocks as she went and Raya returned to using her metal claws to break up the stone. Naim was worn out trying to maintain any sort of electrical spark thus Tansy focused her energy and brought forth the light of the sun that poured from her bloom.

The group was getting worn out but they were determined, a bit more digging then the ranger figured they could take a meal break. Deep inside the cave it was hard to tell how much time had gone by. Liz wasn't actively checking her phone so who knows just how long it might take them to dig up anything of value.

Carbink seems delighted to meet you all! As they puzzle out what you're doing, they float over to another nearby section of rock and hop up and down excitedly. Perhaps they're suggesting a new dig site?

All this digging wasn't exactly the most interesting thing in the world. But the ranger was glad to have her pokemon helping out, always better to do a tedious job with others than alone. Carbink's presence was appreciated too, the little rock fairy was certainly a chipper sort. Though Liz soon noticed Carbink's enthusiastic hopping and raised a brow.

"Hey you find something interesting Carbink or are you just wanting to dig too?"

The ranger inquired with a little chuckle as she moved over to Carbink's location. Raya too came to look over the spot in case she could see any interesting auras. Tansy and Misu remained digging at the cave in, now already half way through. They'd be done with it pretty soon then perhaps they could try other dig spots if they weren't too worn out by then.

Keijo and Naim were still snipping at each other but only when Liz wasn't looking. The clefable seemed to enjoy getting paralyzed by the raichu as he kept prodding an ear whenever the raichu's back was turned and triggering Naim's static ability. Liz didn't concern herself too much with trying to break them up so long as they didn't cause any lasting damage.

As you search around, you begin to hear a strange sound reverberating through the caverns: a drip, but a loud one. As you look up, you'll see that there is a large crack in the ceiling where water is now dripping in. You might want to move away or move closer to it to inspect it.

Carbink was still hopping up and down on its rock thus the ranger figured it must just be having fun trying to imitate their digging. However the sound that rumbled through the cavern did not sound good. They'd managed to clear through the rubble from the cave in at this point but had yet to find anything of interest.

"That doesn't look too good."

Liz felt the words on Raya's mind and the ranger turned her head toward the spot she was pointing at. No, a leaky crack in the ceiling certainly did not look good. She gestured to the space beyond the corridor they'd been stuck in and looked to her team around her.

"Everybody, get back out of the corridor. We might've destabilized this path and I don't want to risk it coming down on top of us."

She instructed watching as Naim chased Keijo back out into the main cavern followed by Misu and Tansy. Liz and Raya backed out slowly both keeping an eye on the dripping crack. They could look for another dig spot as this one hadn't seemed to have yielded much in the way of results. She beckoned to the carbink as well, if that leak was indicating a problem she didn't want the carbink getting trapped or anything either.

The Carbink frantically bobs up and down before floating along behind your group out of the leaky tunnel. It's some time before you scope another appropriate dig site. Fortunately, it seems much drier.

"Keep an eye on that crack just in case Misu? Even if we're not under it it'd be best to know if anything about it changes."

The ranger asked of the greninja who nodded and crawled up onto the ceiling once more to keep an eye on the crack, as well as anything else around them within the main cavern. Liz and Raya began poking around for another good mining spot while Tansy curled a vine around Keijo having noted the clefable was again trying to perform metronome. Naim sat on the venusaur's head and shook his head.

"Liz, this one's acting up again."

The young woman caught the thought that passed across the venusaur's mind and sighed. She pulled the clefable's pokeball then directed it toward the impish fairy. Keijo made a face as he was recalled within and Liz called the ball back to her hand.

"Alright, now, perhaps we ought to try over there?"

She indicated a spot across from the corridor with the leak. Raya and Tansy nodded and the group returned to their digging. Liz grinned at the little carbink glad it was okay. Whether the leak would cause any harm or not, better safe than sorry.

The Carbink sees a few more Carbink. These must be its friends! They bounce up to each other and chatter excitedly, before hopping over to a particular crack in the rock. The Carbink you met beckons you over before it departs with the rest of the group. Could this be the vein you were hoping for?

The ranger glanced up when the carbink got excited and was joined by the others. She raised a brow and moved from the new spot they'd tried. Tansy and Naim continued pecking at that location just in case while Raya followed after Liz over to where the carbink had indicated.

"Wow, look at all the carbink. Are these your friends?"

The ranger inquired of the carbink and chuckled when it bobbed up and down in the affirmative. She watched them all cluster around the promising looking vein and moved in closer. The original carbink bounced in place then dipped its head in farewell as it scurried off after it's friends. Liz waved after it giving them a soft smile.

"Bye Carbink. You all take care now."

It had been nice having the company but Liz had known the carbink would take it's leave eventually. Now however she wondered about the spot they had shown her. She glance at Raya who nodded and the two began to dig carefully, keeping a watchful eye out.

As the echoes of the Carbink fade and you continue digging, gradually you become more and more aware of the glow of an ... aura? It's something that Tansy in particular seems to have become interested in, and eventually the rock gives way to reveal a small, hollowed out portion of the wall, just enough for a small stone to fit into. The glowing intensifies as that portion of the wall crumbles a bit, and through the rubble you can see something gleaming faintly underneath. Could that be what you're looking for?

Tansy, Naim and Misu had now all joined Liz and Raya at the intriguing spot. It took a bit more digging from everyone and Liz could sense her team's frustration. They'd spent the better part of the day digging but still had nothing to show for it. Sure she knew this had been a long shot but the ranger was hopeful their search would yield at least something.

The rock pulled easily away from the wall here. Her pick struck a particularly soft spot and peeled a layer from the wall revealing the crevice that laid beyond. The glow within seemed promising, more promising that anything they'd seen so far. Raya watched carefully for signs of aura within the wall though it was Tansy who was most intent on this particular spot.

"I think this might be it guys..."

Liz thought with growing anticipation as she reached out to pull at the glowing stone within the wall. She couldn't be sure yet but she was hopeful this was indeed the Venusaurite that they'd come to find.

Sure enough the Venusaurite has revealed itself but no sooner has the elusive megastone revealed itself that there seems to be loud footsteps coming your way... Uh oh... seems something else was interested in the gem as well and isn't happy that you've found it. In fact, the Venusaur appears and snatches the megastone right out of your hands, using it to mega evolve instead! Looks like you'll have to battle her to prove you're worthy of the megastone.
